[Stefan's Scrapbook] Of Wine, Women & Song

Postby Stefan on February 17th, 2014, 8:13 pm

Now, let's se... is there a good way to begin this? I hope so. Justo to please some request, my first post will be about making a good, delicious Sangria.

You'll need:
  • A liter of red wine
  • Fresh, diced fruit (the most commonly used are apples, oranges, peaches, pinneaples, pears and grapes)
  • Lemon juice
  • Lime soda (optional)
  • Sugar (also optional)

Pour the wine and the lemon juice on a jar (again, the lemon soda is optional, but tasty), and add the diced fruit to the mix. Stir the mix slowly, and add some sugar if you want.

After that, you'll need to let the wine rest for a while; that's to get the the taste of the fruit into the wine, and vice-versa. Half an hour is fine, but two hours can work as well.

Serve with ice, and you're done! A fair warning, though: the sangria is what is called a treacherous drink. When you drink it, it will be sweet, so sweet that you'll notice that you're drunk a little too late. Still, is a refreshing drink, good for parties and warm days.

Cheers!

[Stefan's Scrapbook] Of Wine, Women & Song

Postby Stefan on February 20th, 2014, 1:46 am

This thing of the scrapbook gave me an idea: write down the songs I used in other threads. Better do it now, before I lost track of them.

This one came from [The Sapphire Star] A Party Like No Other. Gods, this is one of the cheesiest things I've seen, but here they are.

Oh ladies, oh ladies, this bard can see
How you're enjoying yourselves in this evening
Now ladies, now ladies, listen to me
Let's all celebrate the bride to be

---

In this troubled land, and in these cold days
The love will endure, as it always do
Konti and Drykas, Ethaefal and Humans too
Everyone knows that beautiful truth

Wine and song, celebration in the cold
Here Riverfall enjoys the encounter of love
A wedding is near, and the bride to be
Surrounded by the love you can see

In this troubled land, and in these cold days
The birde to be and his friends will drink
And enjoy, sing, and celebrate this way
The joy and happines that the love will bring

---

"Winter nights, winter dark and cold
Shivering people, sad and so alone
But let me tell you, tell you what was told
Since the begining, since the days of old

Sybel, the lucky bride, so pretty and glad
Vanator's the one, the one to keep you warm
On the nights of winter, with his heart and his arms
Oh, Sybel, oh Sybel
Vanator will keep you warm

The wedding is coming
You can already hear the bells
Such joy, so let's keep going
Oh love, oh love
Cheva's smiling upon you"

...Oh gods, I don't know what I was thinking with these.

Now this song is more decent. I used it in Charodae Perfume (Una Tanta). It's obviously based on "French Perfume", by Great Big Sea, one of my favourite songs, but with a few modifications.

You can still see the sight
On a winter's night
Of his wake in the light of the moon
If the wind turns right
If you don't take fright
You can smell that Charodae perfume

This one is special: used in the flashack thread Waking Under the Black Flag, the second part of my flashback series. I have great plans for it!

“As I was going over the City of Alvadas
Without a Miza in my pocket and as hungry as one can be
I first stole an apple, then stole a purse
Running and hiding, until I was nowhere to be seen”

---

“I took the run once and twice and more times after that
With prison, beatings and the like
A scrap of food and a sip of wine
Don’t know if it was worthy, after all

Oh, but famous I got, alright
The terror of the Bizarre
An alleyway rat, the hand in the night
And of course, a musician sometimes!”

---

“Good Jaben, my master, thank you for everything
I’ll drink to your health, and then back to work
In fact, I did it once or twice
Until I found the blood on the floor

You surprised me; I hide, and then stabbed me
But Jaben, you will not take my life
Like you took that poor one there
And fight back I will!”

---

“Oh, Jaben, thanks for everything
But I must go now
You wounded me, and I killed you
Not fair, I know, but at the end I did win

I ran, far away, and never did I stop
Bloodied and almost dead, I fainted right here
So there’s my history, I hope you liked it
Now is up to you to discover if I lied or not!”

I really like this one. On an unrelated note: I picture Stefan's speech as that of a spaniard trying to speak with british accent.

Now, this one was co-written by Ainyi with me, but I really like it. It's a Svefra sea shanty.

Now, I was the sole writter of this one:

Sonny, is time to go to bed
The sun is out, but the clouds are there
The water is angry, and the fire is red
But we will get our way

Sonny, rest, ‘till the storm is over
Sonny, sleep, ‘till we are safe again
Soon we’ll reach quieter waters
And if we don’t, we’ll be in Laviku’s embrace

We did what we did, and we enjoyed it
We danced and we sang
But Sonny, now is time to sleep
If we see a tomorrow, you can play again

Sonny, rest, ‘till the storm is over
Sonny, sleep, ‘till we are safe again
Soon we’ll reach quieter waters
And if we don’t, we’ll be in Laviku’s embrace

---

Is fine, but after Ainyi revised it, it ended up like this, and I actually like it better.

Sonny, its time to go to bed
The sun is low, but the clouds rage on
The water is angry, and the fire is red
But we've many a mile to sail ahead

Son, many a mile to sail ahead!

Sonny, rest ‘till the storm is over
Sonny, sleep till we're safe again
Soon we’ll reach quieter waters
Lakivu save us from slaughter

Rest, oh Sonny, sleep, my son!

We did what we did, oh we had fun
We danced and we sang in the sun
But Sonny, now it's time to sleep
If we see a tomorrow, we'll play again

Son, see a tomorrow, we'll play again

Sonny, rest, ‘till the storm is over
Sonny, sleep, ‘till we are safe again
Soon we’ll reach some sweeter clouds
Lakivu, may we make you proud

Rest, oh Sonny, sleep, my son!

Aye, twelfth bell was peaceful too,
No breeze laid on our good mast,
But passion did rise on these small waves
With wind that'll take us to our graves.

Son, sleep not upon the waves

Sonny, rest till the storm is over,
Sonny, sleep till we're safe again,
May thunder's voice quiet down
Oh Lakivu, please, don't let us drown!

Rest, oh Sonny, sleep, my son!

[Stefan's Scrapbook] Of Wine, Women & Song

Postby Stefan on February 20th, 2014, 2:03 am

Now this is something. I didn't write this one; that honour is for my dear friend Ainyi. I requested a prayer song about Yshul, something a thief would mutter under his breath while picking a lock or in the way to the gallows, and I'm honestly happy with the result.

She lies in every dark alley,
She lies in every rich man’s purse
She lies in every misfit babe,
That steals milk as their mothers nurse.

Everything is hers, as everything is ours.
May she bless this place of hers,
And keep us free from bars.

Bless us fair Yshul,
Our Princess of Thieves,
For we depend on you,
As we nightly reave.
Their pockets do feed us,
Their locks beg for theft.
Bestow us the luck we need,
May our hands be deft.

She lies in every gold miza
That our fingers want to take
She lies in our dreams of wealth
When our hunger wills us awake

She says not what is right, nor says what is wrong
But may she grant us favour
Our success may she prolong

Bless us fair Yshul,
Our Princess of Thieves,
For we depend on you,
As we nightly reave.
Their pockets do feed us,
Their locks beg for theft.
Bestow us the luck we need,
May our hands be deft.

She lies in the iron dagger
That rests on our target’s neck.
She lies in our twisted faces
As our deviant hands do beck.

She knows not of greed, yet takes all she sees
She taught us to open doors
But never gave us a key.

Bless us fair Yshul,
Our Princess of Thieves,
For we depend on you,
As we nightly reave.
Their pockets do feed us,
Their locks beg for theft.
Bestow us the luck we need,
May our hands be deft.

[Stefan's Scrapbook] Of Wine, Women & Song

I used these songs for [Job Thread] Running Errands.

The first one is a traditional sea shanty used for work, "Dead Horse", with some small modifications.

A poor old man came riding by.
And we say so, and we know so.
Oh, poor old man came riding by,
Oh, poor old man.

Says I, "Old man, your horse will die."
And we say so, and we know so.
And if he dies we'll tan his hide.
Oh, poor old man.

And if he don't, I'll ride him again.
And we say so, and we know so.
And I'll ride him 'til the gods knows when,
Oh, poor old man.

He's dead as a nail in the lamp room door,
And we say so, and we know so.
And he won't come worrying us no more
Oh, poor old man.

We'll use the hair of his tail to sew our sails
And we say so, and we know so.
And the iron of his shoes to make deck nails,
Oh, poor old man.

Drop him down with a long long rope
And we say so, and we hope so.
Where the sharks have his body and the Lhex takes his soul!
Oh, poor old man.

And this one is a trational pub song, "Blow the Candles Out". I omitted a part that I simply didn't like, since I consider it of really bad taste. As I always said: ancient people were bloody insane. Again, this one has small modifications.

When I was apprenticed in Syrlias, I went to see my dear
The candles all were burning, the moon shone bright and clear
I knocked upon her window to ease her out of her pain
She rose up to let me in, then barred the door again

I like well your behavior and this I often say
I cannot rest contented when I am far away
The roads they are so muddy, we cannot walk about
So roll me in your arms, Love, and blow the candles out!

I pray thee speak more softly of what we have to do
Lest that our noise of talking should make our pleasure rue
The streets they are so nigh, Love, the people walk about.
They may peep in and spy, Love, so blow the candles out!

Now this song was written by the talentful Malus Tidalwave, and is intended to fit this song.

"I woke up in the morning
and I felt a dire fear,

So I sailed away this dreary day
and drank a cup of Beer!

Hoist the sails and trim the lines
for we Sail to shores so dear,

let us drink sing and dance
and fill this room with cheer!"

The principles of hedonism, that someone wrote down on the internet. Really interesting, indeed. They're not, by any means, rules or doctrines. That's something one should discover oneself, but still, I feel that this is something worth reading.

The Twenty One Principles of Hedonism
1. Know Who You Really Are.
2. Know What You Like.
3. Play.
4. Relax.
5. Be Nice.
6. Live Creatively.
7. Love Fearlessly.
8. Consume Comfort.
9. Protect Yourself.
10. Listen to Your Music.
11. Appreciate What You Have.
12. Adore the Women that Delight You.
13. Surround Yourself With Friends.
14. Know What You Can and Can’t Handle.
15. Work to Live. Don’t Live to Work.
16. Pursue the Good Things in Your Life .
17. Prepare for the Bad Things in Your Life.
18. Don’t Push Hedonism on Others.
19.Try Not to Hurt Others Getting What You Want.
20. Learn as if You’ll Live Forever, Live as if You’ll Die Tomorrow.
21. Have fun.

sigh, the good thing is that nobody read these things. So why not? Might as well complain here.

I don't know what to do. I'm screwing up everything. Just like that, because I'm fucking gullible in real life. I want to cancel all plots for now, because I simply don't know what to do. The thing I know is that I agreed to a plot that screws Stefan completely (and might get him killed) on the future.

There is the problem about how I'm playing Stefan the wrong way. Wanted to make him suave, but ended up making him as smooth as getting hit by a bus. And now... I simply don't know what to do. I don't have goals, don't have plots, don't have anything. It's so frustrating... there are many people here that want to help me, and they do, but my OOC depression isn't helping, and my tick skull doesn't either.

I simply don't know what to do anymore. I'm lost, and so is Stefan. Damn...
