15th Day of Winter, 513 AV, Day Break

Una walked through the center of town that morning with Sizzle. Attached to the end of a leash she had bought to keep him by her side he sniffed at the pathway before squatting to pee. He was still too young and hadn't begun raising his leg yet, which Una had been informed would happen when he became mature. She was continually shocked by how refined and calm the young puppy was. He hardly ever wandered even without the leash and always stared up at her with deep golden eyes that never seemed to end or show any playfulness. The gaze made her shudder. Even Cy's swan eyes had shown more love.

Kneeling down before the little creature she scratched and nuzzled into his warm bright red fur playfully like she had seen others do. He didn't move and seemed to give her an expression that asked what the hell she was doing. She moved away awkwardly and he continued padding along with her following him.

"You know little guy, you are going to have to like me someday..." Wiggling his little tail as he burrowed himself a hole in the snow going after a mouse he seemed to say, "Yah right, I has me a mouse to catch." Una shook her head and giggled as the awkward boy surfaced with a little mouse in his teeth. Prancing along further he showed no signs of wanting to eat or play with it but carried it around like a little human boy would a trophy.

"Excuse me Miss, are you Una Tanta?" Una turned holding Sizzle back who gazed over his shoulder at her dismayed. "Yes." She replied to the Iceguard who was facing her. His stern expression made her smile broader. The morning was just beginning, what could possibly have happened to make the usually boisterous Vantha so disturbed.

"I heard you were the only one found near The Drunken Apple when it was vandalized." "...well yes...they asked me to help clean it up and I did. Wish they had asked me to help with the Tasty Flakes...Sizzle would have thought that tasted better." She got halfway through the joke before it sizzled out itself in response to his ever grimmer expression.

"And you're the new apprentice to Jacob?" "yes." She responded glibly, she respected the Iceguard but she was getting frustrated with the incessant questioning. "Anything else sir? Sizzle would like to continue his walk." "Yes Miss, I think I shall take your time up a little bit longer." Una frowned and nodded while Sizzle sat calmly at the very end of his leash waiting impatiently for them to continue.

"What brings you to Avanthal? We've never had a Charoda here before...If you are such a peaceful race why are you interested in being a spiritist...it's a rather grim and gnarly job, no?" Frowning Una turned away from her the words making her chest constrict painfully. "I-I'm here because my bonded Kelvic was from here and died...and I want to be a spiritist because he died..." She murmured to herself. She had to respond to an iceguard she knew but she kept her response brief and constrained.

"Miss Tanta, you'll have to come with me." "Where?" Una asked alarmed, she hadn't done anything wrong. "To the barracks, we have more questions." Una tugged sizzle after her following the Iceguard obediently with trepidation glancing around the scene to see who had seen her being questioned. Everyone had treated her so differently since she had become an apprentice, would this only compound their fears?

Interrogation by Teeth [Kavak]

Postby Kavak Frostfawn on December 28th, 2013, 3:56 pm

It was time Kavak looked around the city of Avanthal. He never really enjoyed the city much, being that he got extremley cold most of the time. He didn't resent Morwen ne bit for not marking him. He revered the dear icy goddess and was now finally taking his Vantha heritage and enjoying the city of his people. He felt the day would be interesting. He had heard of the delicious treats of flavored snow around the Frostfawn hold and had asked where they were sold. The Vantha looked at him as if he were some strange creature and responded with a hearty "Tasty Flakes of course." They told him where to find the building and he set off to get something to eat.

The young Frostfawn looked over the destruction of the Tasty Flakes. It was deplorable how someone would do this to the city. Someone would have to clean this up, someone would have to pay for it. The people who did this probably didn't know they were hurting a lot of people and events from doing this childish thing. He was just about to offer to help clean up all the melted ice when he felt a tap on his shoulder.

The Icewatch Guard wasn't any taller than Kavak but the wolverine kelvic by his side was certainly intimidating. The guard had black hair with dark blue streaks in it and his eyes were a leering red. He was definitely muscular and Kavak noticed the shortsword on his side sheathed. Kavak decided that meant he ahd a lot of experience with that weapon. "May I ask what you're doing here sir?" Kavak always respected the Icewatch and responded promptly, "I was just thinking about helping out here." The Icewatch Guard nodded. "Are you a resident of this city?" Kavak nodded his affirmative to that question. "What hold do you belong to? You're obviously a Vantha." Kavak proudly stated, "I am Kavak Frostfawn. Of the Frostfawn Hold." "And whats that on your back?" The guard asked gruffly. He definitely wasn't being polite in any way. He pointed the the wheathered old bow strapped down to Kavak's backpack. "Oh that's nothing...I'm a hunter and it's for food and money for me you know?" The Icewatch guard smirked and shook his head. "I'm a Frostfawn...I know every hunter in Avanthal. You are no hunter." Kavak was about to protest and explain his novice ranking when the guard grabbed his wrist. Kavak struggled a little but the growling wolverine quickly quieted his protests.

Kavak muttered about injustice as he was hauled off to the barracks. He saw dozens of archers and swordsman there were even Kelvics mock fighting each other all practicing their skills as a collective unit. It was a magnificent sight to see master combatants spar...if it wern't for the fact he was just about to be interrogated. He didn't know how any of this would pan out but he didn't do it right? That had to count for something.

Interrogation by Teeth [Kavak]

Una stared at the back of the guards head blindly shocked. As they approached the living chambers of the Iceguard and the questioning room Una's feet stuttered over the ground till they halted. Sizzle glanced up at her and pressed closer to her side. He had lost his front leg only a few days before and Una was still only taking him for short walks, usually to the frostfawn hold to look after the frosthawk. Panting at her side Sizzle began to keen, his large golden eyes boring into the Iceguards. He was tired and irritable from the walk. Animals understood power, and obedience. Likely more than any human ever would but they also understood that obedience should only be given to pack and this man wasn't pack.

His hackles rose and he growled at the man as the fear within Una grew. She had befriended many of the Iceguards, for her love of the bears, but never had one touched her or talked to her with such a duty-laden voice. "Hey!" The man spoke firmly grabbing her arm. The fear the touch inspired in her paralyzed her. Sizzle on the other hand was inflamed. His fire red body practically sizzled with anger and he launched himself forward between the two snarling at the man. Lips drawn back, golden eyes glimmering he was a wild beast before the man. Only having seen him as a docile fluffy puppy Una was startled stiff by the venom in the pup's eyes.

Almost at his full grown height he was slightly taller than Unas knee and bulky with fur. However, the Vantha were more than used to dogs and the Iceguard easily pinned Sizzle to the ground, muzzle out of harms way, before either Una or Sizzle could blink.

"I'll come, I'll come. Just let go of Sizzle. Please." Una begged. When the man released him Una quickly gathered him in her arms to keep him out of trouble. His cold nose found it's way against her neck as he snuggled back against her.

Stepping through the heavy door Una squinted around the dimly lit room. Entering any building in Avanthal was like this. The light outside reflected off the snow blindingly making even the heavily lit interiors of buildings seem dim. There was a another man already hunched over in the waiting room where she was left. Putting Sizzle down Una sat on the bench putting her forehead in her hands. Sizzle slid under the bench gently licking the back of her pants and his paw in a self-soothing manner.

The room was exceedingly warm, likely from the anxious bodies often filling it since the vandalism started. Una removed her headdress her tentacles sliding over her shoulders their suction sides puckering against her skin as they moved. Unbuttoning her coat she sighed relaxing as the heat within dissipated.

She had never been approached by authority before, never had authority exercised over her before. Even as a child their home had been a democracy with her having equal say in anything she could comprehend. This new show of control over her left her feeling completely vulnerable. She knew the Iceguard were the representatives of Morwen, but that didn't mean their own human views and errors wouldn't override the truth. She hadn't done anything, but she wasn't a Vantha, she had no hold, no notable allegiance to Avanthal other than the self-proclaimed one through Cy, and was a Spiritist. It made sense that they would think an outsider would ruin their city.

Interrogation by Teeth [Kavak]

Postby Kavak Frostfawn on January 6th, 2014, 1:58 am

He was led through the city of Avanthal, escorted by one of the Icewatch for all to see like it was some parade as he saw onlookers glance his way and then quickly turn as if they weren't interested. He wasn't an Avanthalian though he was a Vantha. He had not done anything to prove he was of any worth to the everwinter city since he had gotten through the Ice walls so it was a little understood that no one knew who the young Vantha in their city was. He was treated as a stranger, though with a warm welcome, wherever he went in the city. He had not one acquaintance or indeed a friend in the city. These thoughts raced through his mind as the Icewatch Guard led him to the encampment they were so fond of. Of course that was moments ago, he thought as he sat on some bench looking at the floor, thinking of any way to excuse this misunderstanding. The Icewatch guard stood over him and glared, "you will be met with shortly." Kavak nodded not saying a word but muttered, "yea...with who though?" as the Icewath guard walked away.

He sighed, and it was then he noticed the...well it was hard to say what he noticed.
She...at least he thought it was a she. She...it...definitely had feminine features. One thing was certain, it wasn't human and it certainly wasn't any form of it like the Vantha or the Inarta. It was blue for crying out loud!! It had tentacles on it's head and spikes on it's ears. It resembled a fish far more than a human. Her skin was smooth and wet looking though in the Avanthalian winter she couldn't be wet unless she fell into the sea. He thought that idea was funny, only a fool would swim or cause themselves to fall in the icy abyss of the sea around here. Her skin was blue...but it was also a bit pale looking. It was beautiful, like ice in a way. He had to admire the tone if anything. She...yes he was certain it was a she now...was very slender and sleek looking. She had the appearance of an athlete or merely the ability to be fast. He wouldn't want a footrace with the woman. When she put her hands upon her forehead he noticed they were webbed. Her ears were long with long spikes or horns sticking out of them. She had a very tiny nose he noticed. He came to the conclusion she was some fish creature forged by magic. He was certain it was a she because she was pretty...for a fish creature forged in a magical catastrophe. Yes it had to be a catastrophe...no one would combine a fish with a woman on purpose would they? That would be complete lunacy. He wondered if she could speak or if she could only talk in fish....did fish have languages? He forced himself out of his own mind for the time being and turned to face the odd creature, completely forgetting that he was there to be questioned...at best.

He offered her his outstretched hand, "uhm...hello...I'm Kavak Frostfawn. Who are you?" He said, seemingly fascinated by the new sight he now had before him. Kavak was always curious to learn new things and broaden his knowledge base. This definitely qualified as learning a new thing. It was strange, it was new, it was right up his alley. Though if the fish creature was sentient he didn't want to offend it.

Interrogation by Teeth [Kavak]

Postby Una Tanta on January 12th, 2014, 6:44 pm

OOCUna is white, like a beluga whale :)

Una glanced up watching the Ice Watch bring in another person. The Vantha he tugged into the room and left sitting on the other side looked as forlorn as she felt. However, he didn't stay sitting for long.

Gazing skeptically at the intruding man Una reached out glasping his forearm and shook gently. "Hi...I'm Una Tanta..." She offered. His hair was lighter than most Frostawn but the characteristic purple identified him as a Vantha even if his eyes were a timid neutral brown.

"I'm sorry but...you were just brought into the interrogation room by the Ice watch and this seems like the perfect time to introduce yourself to someone? You think I should trust you? Shouldn't you be back over there worrying about what's going to happen?" Her skeptical expression became a frown as she moved along the bench away from him.

Not usually a suspicious person even Una realized that meeting someone at the interrogation center after all the vandalizing would be dangerous. Before he could intrude further the door opened and a guard entered. The iconic long brown hair brushed the top of his eyes and Una grinned, It was Coren.

"Una?" He responded shocked, "What are you doing here?" punctuating the here like a shocked punch. "Me and Sizzle were walking and were apprehended for our proximity." The anger in her voice was unmistakable "No wonder you haven't caught the vandals yet." She regretted her words when Coren frowned at her response. The manhandling of both her and Sizzle had put her in a foul mood and she was anxious to rid herself of the leering man at her side.

"Are you here to question me?" She queried hopefully, "No...I'm here for him." Coren murmured as he indicated for the man to follow him. "You can go Una, I'm sorry you were brought here," He apologized making her smile broadly. As they disappeared behind the door rose grinning. She was still furious but at least she wasn't going to have to sit there while some pretend police officer questioned her about walking her own dog. She hoped Kavak was the guilty one, he certainly seemed a bit off to her.

OOCHey, no response for a bit so I changed my post so we could hand it in since it is almost the end of the season :)
