Ghosts and Robins (Marcus)

Spring 25th, 514 A.V.

A low sigh of exasperation escaped Rion as he stood before the vastness that encompassed the Cobalt Mountains. It had been so long since he'd last visited the place, and Rion couldn't help but feel nostalgia slowly flooding back. Despite the fact that he'd only been away twenty or so days, to Rion, it felt like he'd been away for several seasons. But, the new look of the forest could have contributed to this thought.

No longer were there white sheets blanketing the trees or wild animals asleep and hidden from view. Suddenly, the forest seemed alive with life from the smallest insect to even the largest mammal. For all Rion knew, he could have been looking at an entirely different place altogether.

"Looks like everyone's finally waking up," Rion thought. "Wonder if they'll still remember me from last season." In terms of appearance, the only changes Rion had made were adding a chain shirt and gauntlets to his outfit. Sure he had a mask too, but that was only for Syliran purposes. Out in the wild, he had no reason to hide his identity.

Shrugging the thought away, Rion stepped straight into the Bronze Woods, immediately being greeted by startled birds who fled apprehensively up the trees for safety. For a moment, Rion thought about climbing after them, but he instead decided to let the birds be as he continued on his little afternoon walk. On the way, he passed by and took note of a few of the waking animals that he saw. "Squirrel...deer...I think that's some kind of dog...bird...butterfly...a cat I think..." And the list kept going on.

When Rion finally was tired of naming - and guessing at names - he decided to stop for a moment to get some food. One good thing about being in a place that wasn't frozen...food was much too easy for to find. And if that place was the Bronze Woods, finding food was even easier. It didn't take long to find a suitable tree ripe with berries and...free items? Rion raised an eyebrow at the sight of a perfectly salvageable - though a bit rusted - dagger someone left stuck inside a tree. If he gave it to the right person, they might be able to fix the knife up good as new.

Within the bronze forest, a lone squirrel foraged for food. In the corner of it's eye it saw a small fruit in the tree. Being an opportunist, he scurried as fast is it could to claim the morsel before another creature comes along. Its small furry body grasped the bark of tree tree and begun it's quick ascend. Once it had reached the branch where his spoilers were, he began closing in on the bit of food, paying no attention to the fruits odd displacement in the air. Getting closer to the fruit, the squirrel reached out for the berry, but some how it was out of reach. It tried once again, its small paws were empty. The squirrel moved forward... and the berry move backwards? The squirrel jumped back in surprise, but it wasn't about to give up on a free meal. The squirrel dashed forwards to get its run away prize. With a leap it took it's prize, the squirrel got the berry. However... the squirrel had a problem... Thump!

“Not a flying squirrel I see...” said Marcus, who was laid lazily on a tree branch like a sloth, “well... I guess you're flying now... May Dira treat you well.” Marcus Blinked, disappearing from the branch, only leaving behind a cloud of soulmist that slowly dissolved into thin air. Marcus continuously blinked through the forest, stopping at a branch to look around for anything interesting. Marcus did spot a few things. He saw a boar being eaten by a wolves, a spider catching a leaf that fell from a tree and a couple rabbits doing the nasty, oh how Marcus wishes he could forget about that just like his past. As Marcus continued blinking, he got closer to his rusty dagger. However, he had spotted something that was out of place. Something that didn't belong here in forest... a man. The man wore a brown hooded cloak, giving of the impression off a suspicious atmosphere around him. “What is this person doing?” Marcus asked himself, sitting in a branch behind the man, “Is he a hunter?”

As the man walked, Marcus followed him like a shadow, looming around the man around in circles. From what Marcus saw, the man looked quite youthful. Blonde hair that has brown running through it, and a pair of blue eyes, Marcus could say he was handsome. “Hmm... what is a person like you doing here...” Marcus thought aloud, looking into the man's eyes with a soulless stare, “Hunting meat are you?” Although Marcus spoke the man, it was a somewhere pointless. To living ears, Marcus voice was quite hard to hear. In order for Marcus to be heard is to shout.

Something didn't feel right, it felt like Marcus's chest was tying up into a knot. Marcus turned around and saw his dagger with a light beaming down on it. It looked quite spectacular, but that's the problem. Looking back at the man, his eyes were set on the rusted weapon. This was bad, for Marcus at least. For some reason Marcus felt the need to keep the man away from his only item from the past. “I need to stop him... but with what...” Marcus said, pondering a plan, “I know!” Marcus blinked to a a few loose branches that were above the man and shook them with his soulmist causing them to drop in hope to deter the man. “I need more...” Marcus said, thinking of another plan. Marcus blinked ahead of the man's path to the dagger. “Okay, we will try this...” Grabbing a stone with his soul mist, Marcus wrote in the dirt and on the trees “Turn back” and “Go away.”
“If he doesn't get the message, he sure is dumb...” Marcus said, blinking onto a branch to see if the man will leave.

Glancing about, Rion didn't actually see anyone who would possibly object to his removal of the dagger. Whoever the knife had belonged too was probably long gone or dead anyway. They might even have forgotten all about it with whatever else was going on in their lives. And even if they did remember, who besides Rion would actually take the time to salvage a rusty old dagger?

Without a second thought, Rion decided to take the dagger for himself - or at least he would have if it weren't for the sudden snap above his head. Though Rion was fortunate enough not to be hit with heavy branches, the impact of the fall still did a bit of damage, knocking the farmer completely off his feet. Unfortunately, it took him a while to realize he had just been hit by falling branches. At first he thought he was just being attacked, though he didn't immediately draw Aldreda. He realized the truth of the matter when he glanced from the stack of branches to the spot on the tree that had previously held them.

Playing it off as an aging tree, Rion decided it best to simply take his prize and run before the whole thing fell apart. He'd get his food from some other tree somewhere. "I just wonder how the fruits are still growing if this tree's on its last legs," he thought briefly. However, he hesitated once again when he saw words written on the tree that he hadn't noticed before. "Turn back. Go away." Rion's only answer to this was "you don't have to tell me twice."

With that being said, Rion took hold of the dagger and attempted to wrench it out of the tree as quickly as possible. A uneasy feeling was beginning to wash over him for some reason...

Sitting on the branch, Marcus watched his “plan” in action. The branches that Marcus shook fell upon the man and caused him to fall flat on his rear. Normally Marcus would me laughing at the man and his dumbfound look on his face. However, Marcus's dagger could be in possible danger, and he couldn't shift his mood. “Tsk..” Marcus sucked his teeth in disappointment when he saw the man got back up and continue his pursuit. “Hmph, I guess that is branches were a bit weak...” Marcus commented on his action, “Im sure the next thing will make him turn away” Marcus continued to watch the man as he reached the writings that Marcus wrote. As the man approached the writing, Marcus blinked to a branch above the man to get a closer look. Upon blinking, the man was looking as the words as he kept walking. Marcus felt quite vexed at the man, it seemed like he was ignoring the warnings. What really annoyed Marcus is that the man had the nerve to give a witty response. The man got closer to the dagger. Marcus's uneasy feeling began to tighten, and as the man got closer it began to burn. When the man was close enough to grasp the dagger, Marcus couldn't contain his feelings any longer. The man grasped the dagger and gave it firm pull...

“GO AWAY!!!”

Marcus Screamed in front of the man. Where Marcus stood, made him look as if he just got stabbed in the chest. The dagger was through Marcus's ethereal body and the man holding it looked like the killer. Marcus had an angered expression on his face. Marcus held the man hand in place and with looked the man in the eyes with his soulless eyes. “Go away!” Marcus yelled before his face exploded into mist. Starting from the head, Marcus's soulmist began engulfing the man's body, slowly seeming under its flesh. Marcus had the intent of controlling this man. Within the man's mind, Marcus flooded the man's thoughts with his banshee like screams in hope to lower the man's will to make his take over easiler. Marcus tried to create a mental cage to capture an hold the man's mind. Marcus continued his struggle for control of the man's body.

Ghosts and Robins (Marcus)

Rion never really was one to scare easy. That is to say, he doesn't always know what he's supposed to be scared of. So when all the signs for him to leave confronted the farmer, he just assumed they were a combination of natural disasters and a warning not to go further down the path. Though he did want to go and find out what the danger actually was, he decided it was better to do as he thought he was told and turn back...after he got the dagger of course.

Then came the first scream. Rion jumped in immediate surprise as a translucent shape appeared before him. It looked like a boy, but his body was up against the tree. What's more, it looked like the dagger was going through him, though no blood was actually present. Rion remained speechless as he took this all in for a moment or two. Despite the fact that it looked like he was stabbing the boy - or maybe because it looked like he stabbed him - the child had a look of pure frustration directed at Rion.

But that wasn't the worst of it. Rion felt a frozen hand grasping his wrist and preventing him from escaping. For such a small child, he sure had a strong grip. Luckily, he wouldn't be there for long, as he nearly busted Rion's eardrums with one last "Go away" before leaving him falling on his backside in utter confusion. Blinking the ghost turn into a fog-like substance, Rion watched as he was surrounded in the stuff, causing the "Go away" to be repeated over and over again in his mind.

Though he tried to cover his ears, it was all but useless covering up the noise. Obviously the boy wanted him to listen to the tree and leave immediately."ALRIGHT ALREADY!" finally spoke through the mix of shouts. "I'M LEAVING OKAY!" Though this was what he said, he wasn't exactly sure if he was actually moving away from the tree. Sure he thought he was, but for some reason, his movements were a blur. Almost as if he was in a dream. His body was still there, but he didn't feel actually connected to it.

OOCAnd with that, we can let the possession fun begin >:)
