An Unexpected Surprise

Postby Faelia on March 24th, 2014, 4:32 am

If Faelia was going to be entirely honest with herself, she had to admit that she didn't really know what she was doing all the way in the woods. Just earlier, she had been at the bazaar, trying to purchase some of the daily necessities for her family as well as some raw meat for her companion dog, but the crowd had gotten to her. The area was simply too packed, the lines too long. After having experienced a bit of that kind of frustration in the lines, she had simply decided that she would go for a breath of air and return later. From personal experience, she knew that the amount of people usually decreased exponentially the later it got. The night wasn't the most comfortable thing for most people, and even though Faelia herself was uncomfortable with it at times, she had told herself that she would deal with it later. Procrastination was a beautiful thing.

So she had simply turned and strolled out of the bazaar, allowing her two feet to carry her wherever they desired. And it had desired to take her to the woods, the very outskirts of Syliras.

Stories of predators and monsters from frequent visitors of Syliras had long been a part of Faelia's life. Though she hadn't seen any of it personally, she had heard of it quite a bit to know enough about the dangers that the wilderness presented. Yet somehow, she had to say that she wasn't afraid at all. Perhaps it was because it was her first time in the wilderness truly alone, and she was overcome with her fascination of the beauty of nature. Or perhaps it was because she simply held a false sense of security in her animal form, the peregrine falcon.

But whatever the case was, something had driven out all of her fears. The fears that she should had been fearing.

It was this something that would eventually lead to the coming danger she would experience.

An Unexpected Surprise

Postby Ahri on March 25th, 2014, 1:13 am

Ahri walked in the woods, though hesitant. She really had nothing else to do, though last time, she saw a ghost in there, and easily there could be something else dangerous in there.

Yet, she went in anyway, walking around, though with cautiousness. Birds flew overhead, chirping, and a occasional sight of deer. She paused when she saw a big bird in the skies. Her eyes narrowed, trying to see what it was, but she couldn't tell. She shrugged, and kept going, in the same cautious pace.

After a few minutes of walking, her nervousness escalated, which irritated her, but her mind kept sprouting unreasonable things. She sighed. Really, she should've bought a weapon by now.

She kept walking aimlessly, and soon sat on the ground, her back leaning against a oak tree, and she closed her eyes, trying to block out her mind yelling about how dangerous it was.

She hated when she was paranoid.

An Unexpected Surprise

Postby Faelia on March 26th, 2014, 6:11 am

[Yeah, no problem! Who should roleplay the monsters?]

If it had not been for Ahri's coming, it was likely that Faelia would have continued to wander through in her own little reverie. But the soft sound of foot treading on undergrowth snapped her out of it, and the Kelvic abruptly stopped, head swiveling around to the direction of the source of the sound. As she turned around, however, the sound stopped, serving only to heighten her suspicions. Suddenly wary, her mind flashed back to that fateful day years ago, when her sister had been attacked in the forest by predators. She had last seen her sister lifeless and dead, with the scene of her entire family sobbing around her.

The imagery seemed so much more real now. Faelia cursed at herself under her breath for having set herself up in such a situation, then quickly began to scale a tree. It was only in times like these that she realized that her small size could be used to an advantage. Although she wasn't quite the best tree climber, her light weight and small size allowed her to move upwards rather quickly.

Once she reached the topmost branches, she peered down, scanning the clearing for predators. But it came to her surprise once she looked down was that the only other living soul she saw in the area was another human, slumped down beneath an oak tree.

Faelia watched the human, almost suspicious of her already. Why was she simply lying there with her eyes closed? Even Faelia had been more cautious than that, finding the nearest tree the moment she heard a sound. Had this human never heard stories of the monsters, never seen the bodies of the dead? For a moment, the Kelvic considered calling out to her to wake her from what seemed like a slumber, but then she brushed the thought from her mind in an almost selfish way. Nobody had warned her sister when she had been killed. All was fair in the game of nature. Nobody assumed any liability for anyone else, especially two strangers.

But even so, she sat decided to keep a close watch on the human. Something told her that the setup was suspicious. No human could be so loose as to do such a thing in the wilderness... right?

An Unexpected Surprise

Postby Ahri on March 26th, 2014, 2:25 pm

Ahri opened her eyes in annoyance. Why was she even sitting here? She sighed, and climbed the tree above her, sitting at it's branches. At least she'd be safe here, somewhat. She leaned backwards toward the trunk, looking downwards.

She closed her eyes again, and she heard a distant howl. Her eyes opened, and she bit her lip. Another distant howl, but coming closer. She cursed mentally, hoping they didn't scent her or notice her.

Two wolves walked under the tree, licking their teeth. She cursed. How was she going to get down now? There weren't any nearby trees.. Her eyes scanned the trees, eyes narrowing at another blurry figure in a not too close one. She waved, and sighed.

She didn't have any luck. But how could she get down? She looked around the tree. Throwing branches down? She laughed. Yeah, right. Perhaps heavier ones, but they were locked in the tree, and she couldn't really cut down a branch with bare hands.

Maybe the other person had a weapon of some sort, or some.. Idea? Hopefully she was friendly.

The wolves looked at her patiently, wanting their meal, as she looked into her bag. An eating knife wouldn't help, a flint and steel could light something on fire.. The branches that she could get off were too small to light on fire, though..

She frowned, thinking.

(OOC: I guess I will. :P You want more wolves? We could just say they came out of the shadows.)
