Unfamiliarity was an annoying thing, it messed up your entire rhythm and it was even worse when you are used to an entirely thing. For Kreig, the unfamiliarity was the wooden training-replica of a hand-axe. Its dimensions were similar to the Iron one had obtained from a bandit, but which he had never really used and rested in the chest of his dorm room gathering dust. In his left, strapped to his arm was a round wooden shield, it felt like a familiar presence but at the same time was still very foreign to him.
As one would easily predict, he was at the training grounds. Before him was his patron, Sera Natasha Druva, a woman who was a close friend him nowadays and of course his mentor within the order. They were both dressed in armor, Kreig in his own personal apparel that, while clearly syliran made, made him look a bit like a mercenary. His patron in contrast, wore the Order's 'light' armor which was a mishmash of plate, chain and leather armor. In her right was a wooden longsword and in her left a kite-shield.
Kreig looked at her, irritaion clear on his face "Sera, may I ask I am training with an axe instead of a longsword?"
"Simply put, Kreig? Disparity"
"Disparity, Sera?" Kreig tilted his head in confusion, looking down at the axe in his hands. He was unused to the wooden shaft, it was long and unlike the grip of his long sword was not as around. It was one long handle really and he felt that the weapon could fly from his hands at any moment.
"Yes, Disparity. Whilst you are not THAT advanced in your skill with the blade, the disparity would interrupt with your shield training and thus training with an unfamiliar weapon will at least rectify that to a degree. That, and there are two extra reasons as well" Kreig raised his head to her, curious as to what these two reasons were.
"One, you seem to be far more attuned to the Longsword with two hands rather than one. Second, learning to use a shorter range weapon like the hand axe would prove invaluable whilst fighting in indoors.....it would finally mean you have a use for that old hand axe you looted from that Bandit two winters ago" Kreig let his head dropped, no wonder she chose a hand-axe for him to train with then....It made sense he supposed. But it annoyed him...
Not being able to do much about it, he extended his arm and raised the axe before him. Rotating his hand to examine it from every angle so that he could try and get used to the grip, but to no avail " Fear not Kreig, you will get used to it. It's simply a matter of practice and practice makes..." She left the sentence hanging in the air as she pointed her blade at him.
"...Makes perfect" He sighed as he lowere the axe and move forward towards his Sera, then stopped once he was in a close enough distance "I just feel that it would fly from my hand"
"[color=goldI understand Kreig, I know little of the axe myself but I'll impart what I do know of it whilst we train[/color]" Kreig nodded at her words. Since he had to get used to the weapon, he'd decided to give a swing or two before he began. As such, he raised the weapon quickly up into the air....and it prompty slid through his hand and fell behind him with a small thud.
"Yes, things should go quite nicely"
