1st of Spring 514 A.V. It had seemed like ages since Derailey had felt warmth in their air. The remainder of a very light cooling breeze was the only reminder to her that winter had been long and hard, but still, over. As the last traces of of it vanished with the sunrise, Derailey had found a nice area among her brethren to set up her own home within her cozy tent, where she and her companions, Solo and Chel, could sleep and rest peacefully when needed. She had plenty to do, setting up their tent and placing their belongings inside. She let Chel have freedom from her reigns to graze and bask in the sun overhead. Solo, her dog, had already found himself a nice spot to nap beside a crate of Derailey's things. Derailey had surprising gotten plenty of sleep the night before, under the stars, during her city's migratory journey, and found she had an abundance of energy to spare. It was refreshing, as well, to have a change of scenery; scenery without the harsh winter weather as a constant plague in an already dangerous land, Derailey felt a burden lift from her shoulders. One thing less to worry about. The smell of the spring air would soon infect the world, as it already had begun to infect Derailey. The animals would begin to breed and by the end of the season there would be a bountiful amount of game to pick at, which meant a pocket full of Miza and good eating. This was also a time of conceiving, and after the devastating population decrease from the Djed storms, Endrykas would need the new life to help return to its original glory. She spent the entire day setting up, until she was finally satisfied with her work and declared her home complete. There would be no time for procrastination this season. She had a lot of work to do. |
