Athaera nodded when Jubilee began to talk about her brother. "Yeah, I know how that feels," she replied, feeling tears tickling at her eyes. "My sister--," she barely managed to get out before bursting into a waterfall of tears. "She," Athaera said between sobs, "She was..." It hurt, it physically hurt to talk about her. "She was amazing."
But at the same time, the crying was a relief. She'd kept her emotions in a box, and it felt good to open it and let all the feelings roam free. "It's fine," Athaera replied to Jubilee's unnecessary apology, "I haven't cried like this in a while, and it feels kinda good to get it all out."
Athaera knew it would come off as strange, but she rested her head on Jubilee's shoulder, before remembering the other girl was there. She glanced up, and realised she'd seen her somewhere, but couldn't quite place it. Then, she remembered. She'd been at The Bean at the beginning of the season. Her hand was swishing around in the water, with ripples following it like footsteps. Athaera brushed her hair out of her eyes and wiped her tears away, her eyes still the same yellow.
