Perhaps the first work order delivered, arrived in Thomas Cosa’s lab in the pre-dawn bells. Dominating the center of his laboratory lay four enormous rolls of canvas. The largest was sixty feet wide and twice as long, from there they scaled down at the same proportions. Beside the canvas stood a quiet Vantha in obsidian black leather armor. She was patience without end, watching and calculating as she stared at her hands. When Thomas finally arrived she tilted her head up, “Wizard Thomas Cosa? I am here to deliver your work order and a reminder. “ Her voice was nearly a whisper, but fierce in certainty. “You will be animating these cloths. They need to be aware of the shifting wind currents and able to maneuver themselves to best catch the most wind. Your material needs will be covered, send any necessary request to the Syncrograph office designate them as Project Moth and the expenses will not be removed from your seasonal grant.”
The woman, Iceris was her name though surely Thomas had never seen her before, stepped closer to him. “The reminder is thus, you will be the first to understand what this project will be. Until it becomes public knowledge you are to keep this information to yourself. The Council watched your work and were impressed, they are taking it to a new level and you will provide an imperative piece in it. Your Silence although is just as imperative.” She spun on her heel to leave, but the word Silence had somehow seemed to hang in the air. A horrible threat for those few unfortunate wizards that knew what it meant. If Thomas was lucky he would never find out.
The strange roguish Pulser left without further word, leaving Thomas in his Laboratory with a truly immense amount of work and oiled canvas.
