Goodbye Nyka (Sayren WindDancer)

It wasn't that long ago that Revy had come across a trader. Well, a trader that was planning to go to syliras. He apparently needed a few swordhands, because he had quite valuable cargo. At least it was a good thing that he had his rations for the journey already. It was probably imported or something. Oh well, it didn't matter. She had a job, which would get her to Syliras, so it was good. "At least the guy looks decent enough", she thought while packing her stuff.

Having stuffed all of her clothing and small stuff into the saddlebags and her other stuff into her backpack, she walked out of the school. Rosalind had already been waiting at the entrance, knowing that her owner wanted to leave. During the winter season Revy had become much closer to the horse. "Hey Rosa, it's time to set out again. Most likely we wont be returning to this any time soon.", the mercenary said as she put the saddlebags on the back of the sungold.

She was wearing her metal armor again, feeling secure and safe within the suit of armor. The one thing that she didn't like about this journey was the fact that... she was getting less pay then she was entitled to. He refused to pay her what she should be earning for a job like this, but... since he was providing the food, it was all good.

Only after arriving did she notice that they were with..... no more then five others, excluding the employer. Wait.... was this for real? Just six mercenaries for five double axled wagons loaded completely? Was this guy being suicidal? This was probably not gonna end well. At least that was the feeling she was getting while she walked towards the group.

Goodbye Nyka (Sayren WindDancer)

Her eyes fluttered open. First, she wasn't completely certain she was awake or just in the midst of a dream. Her visual certainly couldn't discern one reality from the other.

She leaned up in the bed stretching her arms and legs while moving about to place her feet onto the ground. Giving her a chance to glance out the window as she rubbed her eyes. Clearing her questionable vision.

The sun was shining, she had managed to sleep in again. How was this happening? It wasn't as if she were keeping herself awake during the long hours of evening. She sighed for the moment of disappointment and stood on her feet. Her arms reached towards the ceiling as she hoisted herself up on her toes. She finished the stretch with a few twists and turns of her hips and legs. Allowing the tensed muscles some relief.

She gathered her arms around her chest, placing her right arm upwards so that her chin would rest on it as she tapped a finger on her cheek. Pondering away at what all she could do for that day. There was always the option of training. As was the start of every day. She could always go work, whether it was her job or just some odd jobs around Nyka. However, neither of those sounded appealing either...

A smile came across her lips when the thought of Revy passed through her mind. How about a surprise for her? But would the mercenary still be in bed at this hour? Was worth a shot she had supposed.

She didn't bother with pants or throwing on any other article of clothing. She felt confident enough in her own Tannish tunic. Her bare feet slapped on the floors as she made her way through the halls. Till she slowed her movements at Revy's room. She gave a few knocks. No answer. Perhaps she was just in a deep sleep? A crack of the door and no Revy. In fact...the room seemed absolutely voided of her presence now. No clothes, no weapons. Even the bed itself was made...which alone, was highly baffling.

"Why is everything gone?" Unsettled by this, she sprinted back to her room, clothing herself while trying to simultaneously pack her things. Granted it wasn't many and most of it was still tucked away, she had still managed to pick up a few garments here and there. Mainly from Revy herself.

Once she had everything packed up, she reached for her sword and slipped it by her side while placing her arm through the bow and sliding it over her shoulder. Slinging the rest of her belongings across the other shoulder.

It took her a bit more effort than expected, but she managed to get herself out towards Garel, who was expectantly waiting for her. "Let me guess you already know?..." He nodded his head. Obviously, was his manner. She honestly was glad his eyes were so glued to that mare now.

She hassled her things about his back. He even neighed a complaint to her when he noticed the additional amounts of clothes. "I know I know, but Revy would kill me if I left them." She told him, trying to defend herself. He rolled his eyes and allowed her onto his back. "So do you know where they are?" She asked. He didn't give an answer. Just began trotting forward.

"Anyway we could move faster?" She ushered. Not meaning to sound hurried, but...it was Revy she was worried about. The Strider sighed with a nagged tone. Breaking into a half-efforted gallop. Had he gone into full sprint, most of her things would be all across the ground now.

IT took quite a few Chimes, but the two finally arrived at a caravan. With Revy in her full plated armor as well. Before she could send a greeting to her lover, she was stopped by a man, "And you are?"

"Isn't it obvious?" She stated blatantly as she revealed her blade to the man, "I'm one of the Mercenaries for the caravan."

The man narrowed his eyes to her, "I don't remember hiring an additional mercenary for the group...You sellswords certainly don't come cheaply these days..."

"With good reason." She spoke knowingly. "The roads outside the cities are dangerous. Besides, where is this caravan going to anyways?"

"For a mercenary hired for this Caravan, that seems like something you should know."

"Well..." She struggled as she bit her lip, "My...my employer didn't give such details. Just to assist her in maintaining safety with this caravan."

The man's arms crossed, "And who might this employer be?"

She pointed over to Revy, "She is."

The merchant saw Revy and facepalmed. Dragging his hand down his face as he called the mercenary over. As she neared, he laid it to her plain and simple, "Look, I don't know what you have arranged with this girl, but know this. I agreed for only one of you. If you both go and split your cut, that's fine. But I am NOT spilling out another couple of Golds, or even Silvers for more Mercenaries. I have enough on my plate to deal with and that's final."

Before either of them could object, the man just walked away.

Sayren slid off Garel's back and onto the ground in front of Revy. "So...leaving without telling me where you were going? Or even a goodbye?" Her tone started cheery, but it drifted more sarcastically as she neared the end. "How long? How long were you going to be gone? How long was it going to be before you thought I would notice? Did you plan on telling me at all?" At this point, she was just frustrated. Her face reddening and tears nearly blooming from her eyes. "Was it something I did?"

Goodbye Nyka (Sayren WindDancer)

Fortunately for the group, another four mercenaries joined. Each of them looking brutal and strong. The woman could only sigh. Those guys wore just leather armor. Leather... you needed at least steel if you wanted to be able to perform your job properly. But they weren't in her employment, so she couldn't say anything about it. "Damn idiots. If you don't at least wear some plate, you'll die too damn easily.", she thougth to herself.

She wanted to walk back to Rosalind, to check her stuff, but her employer seemed to call her over. And as she turned around to walk towards him, she sighed. "Crap.... I didn't want her with me at all at the moment. It's much safer for her here.", she thought to herself as she begrudgingy walked over. The only thing she got right there was some preach from the the guy about him not paying any more for the both of them. What was he talking about?

Besides having the merchant blowing up in her face, Sayren now also blew up. Of course she had reason to, but still! Revy couldn't look her girl in the face at all at the moment. She felt guilty, but she had to get away from here. Many people here had seen her mark, besides it was too painful to stay here right now. "I didn't mean.... no I meant to leave you here. You get along with the people here and you don't have the mark of a goddess they hate. Besides, at least you'll be safe here.", she replied. She felt hurt, but surely Sayren felt even worse. "Right now we are with like ten people for five double axled wagons. This is barely enough, so I can't guarantee your safety. If you got hurt, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself ok? This way... you're at least safe, so go back to the school. Just find a safer means of travel."

"But Revy, its Nyka." Sayren rebutted. "No one is really safe here." Then Revy tried pushing her away with an excuse about lack of safety and the lack of mercenaries for this trip. "I came all the way from Endrykas to here. To learn under Ximal's tutelage. I know a thing or two about dangers. In Endrykas, you could easily die just going out to get water to drink. Why? Maybe you drowned, got swept in by a fire from the plains, or anything. It's why we are supposed to enjoy life while we can. Celebrate all of the little moments..."

She couldn't take much more, she had to nuzzle the mercenary now. Burrowing her face into the mercenaries neck, "I love you Revy...I can't lose you like I lost mom..." At this point, she just felt like a sniffling child. A spoiled brat who just cried when she didn't get her way.

Goodbye Nyka (Sayren WindDancer)

Postby Revy Hiroe on May 16th, 2014, 6:29 am

She expected Sayren to refute her arguments. She wanted the girl to come up with good arguments. She could use someone she could trust on this trip. Those mercenaries weren't really worth of trusting, or at least they hadn't proven it yet. During the trip she'd have to spar with each individual to find out how good they are. She had to know what she was working with.

"Have you fought bandits yet? Have you fought wolves and whatever else is out there ready to kill you? I don't think so. But..... I... I don't want to see you hurt. And Nyka is far safer then travel. Please...", she said. Revy wanting Sayren to stay behind was completely selfish. She didn't wish to see the girl get hurt because she failed to protect her. She didn't want to relive her memories from when she was a child. But it was really hard to say no to her.

And then Sayren nuzzled against her and started to cry, she couldn't hold up her act anymore. Sighing, she said: "Oh ok, suit yourself. But you have to keep yourself safe. If it get's too hot under your feet, run. Don't fight, just run. If you dare to die, I'll come kill you myself, you understand that, my girl?"

"I've never taken on bandits before. The caravan to Syliras and to here was rather peaceful..." She softly stated as she nuzzled her lover. Tears had already started to pour from her eyes. The tiny streams cascaded down on to Revy's neck. The older woman finally caved in to Sayren, agreeing that she could come along, however, she had the condition that Sayren should remain safe. If a conflict were to occur, then Sayren WILL run, no matter what.

Sayren glanced up to gaze into Revy's eyes. Her own stained red from her salty tears. "I do understand. And I will run, but know I will come back for you." She tried to lean forward again to nuzzle Revy when she noticed that her sword's handle bopped the woman by her helm.

Sayren's eyes widen in embarrassment, "I'm sorry Revy!" She pulled the sword off from around her shoulder and placed it on the ground as she went to hug Revy, "It didn't hurt did it?"

Garel barely placed focus on Sayren. Though he tried, countless times, but his eyes kept squirming over to see that mare, despite how mean she seemed now. She was so gorgeous though! The beautiful blonde mane, that sunshine coat, and just the way she held herself in confidence. Remarkable. And yet, she saw him as nothing. All his triumphs, his credentials as a stallion from the sea of Grass, was meaningless to this mare. Why did it cloud his mind as so? Whatever...just forget about this mare and focus on Sayren. As he thought he should.

Goodbye Nyka (Sayren WindDancer)

Postby Revy Hiroe on May 19th, 2014, 9:28 pm

Revy just simply sighed. She absolutely couldn't stay stubborn with this girl. Why was it that she just couldn't refuse her? The woman wanted to keep this girl safe and the caravan was far from it. But she already caved in and that was something she couldn't change anymore. Was it because she wanted to keep her close, somethign she couldn't with Zandelia? Or was it because of what happened to her family? At the very least she couldn't figure it out at all.

It was at least a good thing that Sayren agreed with having to run. That way she would be at least safer then when she'd stick to the caravan. For sure Garel could keep her safe. The last thing Revy wanted to do during a fight was having to worry about this Drykas, not that she hated it, but because she had to stay focussed during a fight. Time after time again had proven that losing your concentration proved to be bad for her, or her opponent if they lost their concentration.

And then the girl bumped with that pommel of her sword against her visor. It was nothing more then just a minor annoyance, but apparently Sayren was rather embarrassed about it. "Don't worry, I had my visor down. It didn't hurt in the least. Now, get your stuff together so that we can move out. I think that my contractor is getting rather impatient... and we're drawing quite some eyes.", she said softly as she patted the girl on her head. Most of the mercenaries had been looking at the pair, more or less with rather unhealthy eyes for them. The woman made a point out of it to make sure nothing happened to either her or Sayren. Then to crack a joke, no matter how bad she was at it, she said: "By the way, Garel really doesn't learn does he? Rosa's clearly not interested in him, yet he keeps trying to get her to consider him."

Not too much to give in terms of awards but it moved your story along and it was an enjoyable little read. I find the horses’ attitudes to one another amusing. I hope these two got on well on their journey.
