Shared Innocence [flashback] Arianni & Satu

Postby Satu on September 20th, 2010, 3:09 am

The change was apparent to Satu’s HeartSense immediately, Arianni had transformed. Subtly and simply, the Konti girl worked through the First Form with more ease in her movements and spirit than she had shown all afternoon. And Happiness! Happiness resided within Arianni’s Heart shift. Satu, eyes bright, matched the Konti’s smile. The girl understood! “You have grasped it! The spirit of the suvai, I mean! I can see it, do you feel it? Do you feel the change?” Satu asked excitedly, pleased at what she considered to be a glorious acknowledgement of her own special view of suvai wielding. “That is what we build on!”

A connection, tentative before, slowly grew and blossomed into friendship. The two Konti girls, so completely different, complimented one another, Satu outwardly and Arianni inwardly. Satu did not at first realize this, thinking the desire to protect Arianni was a result of the girl’s timidity, and the Suvai Fighter’s own desire to help her reach her potential. Before, Satu had wanted nothing more than to put an arm around the shy Konti and assure her the world was a beautiful, lovely place, and that no harm would ever come to her. After Arianni had given her thanks, their eyes met and held, even amid the blush of the novice’s cheeks. Satu answered honestly and kindly, “Arianni, no thanks are needed. I do this because I wish to…” Unexpectedly it dawned on Satu; her intentions towards the girl had changed.

Arianni had moved so compellingly across the grass in her own haphazard way that Satu could not take her eyes off the girl. The way her blonde hair moved in the breeze, and the way her feet stumbled upon some unknown thing, and the improper wrist techniques for wielding the suvai, all these actions endeared her to Satu. And ever present was Arianni’s sweet Heart… oh Avalis! Her own Heart fluttered youthfully. There was something there! And true to her nature, Satu felt no fear, only excitement as new and exquisite feelings flooded her Heart, washing over her, and through her.

A creature of feeling, Satu flowed with what resided in her Heart, and her teaching methods, moved within the tide of that perception. “Let us complete one more practice before you break for rest…” she said. “You hide at times... Inwardly,” Satu offered, softly, yet kindly so as not to hurt the girl’s feelings. “You tend to round your shoulders, or lower your head…” Hands, strong from practice, but gentle in touch reached for the girl. Satu lifted Arianni’s head, lightly with a touch on the chin. And, “Lengthen here,” Satu said quietly, as she swept her hand upwards along the girl’s spine, from the lower back to just past the curve of her pale neck. Then Satu’s hands stroked outwardly along the backs of the novice’s shoulders, urging them to open and allow the Heart to lead. Satu’s hands aspired to give physical reference for the verbal corrections that were being offered. Satu studied Arianni’s Heart before she placed her palm against it with intense focus. Warmth radiated from her hand and she said, “To wield the suvai, you must stand tall and proud. Carry confidence here, in your Heart. The horn’s magnificent spirit will know and respond to this!”

“Put away your suvai now. And move in the same Form once again, without them. But this time we will dance the Form’s movements, and I will be your shadow, to guide you.” With a smile, Satu lifted a hand to hold further questions or concerns that Arianni might have, “You know the movements already, but now let your true emotions soar free!” And Satu waited for Arianni to find her Beginning Stance once again. When Arianni was settled and ready, Satu moved to stand behind her. “Go through the positions slowly, and I will match your movements… as you may match mine.” She lifted her arms, and bent her knees, waiting so very close to Arianni, that their bodies almost brushed against one another’s. Satu whispered, breath feathery in the shorter Konti’s ear, “Don’t think, just act. The body will know what to do, and how to do it. If you stumble, just lean into me; come back to me and the dance.”

Shared Innocence [flashback] Arianni & Satu

Postby Arianni D'Sorn on September 23rd, 2010, 2:13 pm

Honesty.

That was it, pure and simple. It exuded from the suvai fighter's words every time she spoke. Arianni loved hearing Satu speak for her newfound friend spoke straight from the heart, never giving the mind time to coat it with obfuscation or deception like others did. Everything rang of truth. And so whatever praise of encouragement the taller girl gave to her, Arianni knew they were most sincere. Truly, Avalis must have blessed her to meet such an individual this day!

“You-you are very kind,” Arianni dared say as Satu watched her go through the Beginner's Form. She was awkward and ungainly she knew, and yet strangely, she did not feel embarrassed to be such in front of the other girl. Where she would have just given up on the task and buried her nose in a book had it been anyone else, she actually enjoyed the exertion of the activity when this kind-hearted girl was with her, teaching and guiding her.

When Satu approached to shift her posture, Arianni startled herself when she found herself not shying away from the touch. She actually yearned to be with this girl for she felt that they somehow fit, their personalities clicking together despite the contrast. Arianni was introverted and introspective, unused to such physicality and exertions the more open and unabashed Satu seemed to enjoy and yet she found herself drawn...

A vision obscured her thoughts then.

...like a fly to a spider's web?

Was that the voice? No, the voice was wrong. The voice was mistaken. She was drawn to Satu like...

...a butterfly to beautiful flower...

Arianni smiled at the imagery and looked up, to find Satu close to her and staring at her with equal intensity. The other girl was pressing her hand against her heart, as if to impart her own confidence to Arianni though it. Arianni almost giggled at the intimate touch – no one has touched her there save her mother, and only when she was still a little child! - yet the seriousness of Satu's voice held her bubbling mirth in check. Instead, she nodded with gravity at the girl, to signify that she was taking her friend's words to heart. “I...I will try, Satu.” It was the first time she said her friend's name. She rather liked how it rolled of her tongue so easily.

Short and sweet.

Satu took her suvai, sheathing it back to its matching ivory container strapped at her hips. She gave her new instructions, to perform the Form once more but this time without the weapon. Arianni gave a frown of confusion. Satu wanted to dance? But wasn't the point of suvai practice to use the suvai...? But she complied without question, going through the Stance once more, remembering the movements she had just performed earlier. When Satu closed on her from behind, seemingly molding herself around her body to support her where she might falter in the steps, Arianni realized the other's intention all along: they would dance the fighting steps as one, going through each of them in the same manner, and in the same pace, as the other. It was a task that would require excellent skill and knowledge of the form but Satu seemed to make it a game for her: a game that entailed building confidence in oneself as well as trust in each other – Arianni trusting that Satu would not let her fall should she make a mistake, and Satu trusting her to lead the dance in the correct manner such that both of them would not be lost in the steps and entangle themselves with their intertwining limbs.

“I will do my best,” Arianni said in return to Satu's whispered words. She cleared her throat, hoping that she had said it with conviction and confidence.

And then she began.

Slowly at first, fearing she might leave Satu behind in her movements or that she might make a mistake so severe as the distract the veteran fighter, her limbs moving to the flow of the suvai form. Eventually, the both of them found a rhythm each could match well with the other. Arianni was still awkward, yes, some positioning of the limbs still wrong, but her partner, Satu, was always there, ready to catch her, correcting her mistakes so they remained in harmony with each other's movement. It was a fighter's dance, slowed to show every detail, every intricacy of the Form, beautiful now but deadly when used in actuality.

And Arianni enjoyed every motion of it, settled as she was beneath Satu's shadow.

Shared Innocence [flashback] Arianni & Satu

Postby Satu on September 28th, 2010, 7:24 pm

In rhythm, the two Konti girls moved through the Suvai Beginner Form. The peaceful park with its rolling, lush grass was an ideal place for their practice, activity surrounded them, but it felt distant and unobtrusive in the sunlight. And nothing it seemed could disturb Satu’s attention, so intent was she on guiding her new friend in the ways of the suvai. Together, their bodies flowed through the graceful steps, and danced to the song of attack and parry. Moving as one, the taller Satu placed herself behind the shorter novice, to guide and encourage. The HeartSeer danced as she always had, radiating abandon and joy in the physicality of the activity. It was doubly so now, with the gentle Heart of Arianni near, so naturally did they seem to compliment one another. It soothed Satu, even though she believed she had no need of soothing. The less experienced Arianni danced as best she could, and Satu’s body leaned into the girl, subtly correcting her positioning in space, and absorbing Arianni’s mistakes willingly. If the novice’s arm was low, Satu lifted it upwards with a caress of her hand, correcting the error. She also at times, leaned in softly with a knee to press upon the back of Arianni’s thigh if a leg was out of alignment.

Satu’s presence was potent as she led from Arianni’s shadow. Without force or coercion, Satu used only the most gentle, physical guidance dictated by her Heart. Softly, she breathed the sweet breath of honeysuckle into Arianni’s ear. “Plant your feet, rooting yourself to the ground. Then you may yet move and still be connected. Now turn. And strike… Reverse and ... Hold,” she guided with whispered words, while her lithe body firmly supported Arianni if she wobbled too deeply. “And hold. And hold. And lift this arm, now … lunge forward…” Satu could feel the novice hesitate periodically, but the Suvai fighter pushed her on, knowing with practice the girl would improve. Falling silent again, Satu was taken both with the suvai dance and with her companion. A contented smile radiated outwards, encompassing the little bit of world they shared in this moment.

When Arianni faltered, Satu did not mind, for it brought their bodies closer and the HeartSeer realized, she did not mind the extra contact with this girl. Even with mistakes and errors, their combined movements were beautiful to the HeartSeer. “Lift your head… so others may see what I see,” she cooed as a white braid brushed Arianni’s shoulder. And then, “Let yourself go, and listen... Your body knows the next move, do not let the mind think upon it. Your body remembers. From all its lives, it remembers the Forms, the Suvai, and this Dance!” Satu’s body urged the girl to a faster pace, to flow from one posture to the next. Out of her comfort t zone, there was no time for thought, only movement and Satu’s effervescent presence behind her.

On they danced, Arianni and Satu, the novice and her tutor. While this suvai dance was to be a confidence building tool for Arianni, Satu could not deny the rapid beating of her own Heart, as a warmth grew in that sweet vessel and sent flutters deep into the mysterious places within. This shy girl had touched her, deeply. Was Arianni even aware of her affect upon on Satu? They slowed to finish. And happily, Satu threw her long arms around Arianni to embrace her from behind in a genuine hug. “That is what the suvai is. To me,” she said. “Allow it to flow in you too, and your mother will be filled with joy, Arianni.” Spirited hands turned Arianni around to face her as Satu looked down into the girl’s eyes, “There is always more to learn with the suvai. Training is never finished, and never completed.” Searching the mismatched orbs, time slowed and Satu’s chest rose suddenly with the effort of breathing. “There is more, I would show you. And share with you…” But the Konti was no longer talking about the suvai.

Shared Innocence [flashback] Arianni & Satu

Postby Arianni D'Sorn on October 7th, 2010, 12:35 pm

OOCSorry for the lateness of my reply! Life has been hectic!

They finished the dance of the suvai together, Arianni still clumsy despite the practice but Satu remained ever supportive up to the very end of it. The smaller girl found herself breathing heavily from the light workout, her heart beating wildly in her chest, so unused was she to such activities. She felt slightly unsteady holding the ending stance of the form, almost falling, but Satu's pale arms wrapped themselves around her, giving her a squeeze. Arianni basked in the warmth of her friend's body, giggling at the touch as Satu whispered in her ear, before she felt herself being turned around. Satu was there, close, so very close, her sapphire eyes boring into her mismatched ones. The laughter died in Arianni's lips as she sensed the yearning to teach in the other's orbs and...something else. Satu wanted to share something with her, but Arianni did not know what.

It was an awkward moment for Arianni. She has never had any close friends before, and, besides her mother, had never been close to any one as she was close to Satu now, both emotionally or physically. It was a strange feeling - a new feeling! - and one Arianni did not know how to respond to. Was she to profess everlasting friendship with the other girl? Hug her in return? Or plant a kiss on her cheek like she would her mother after receiving a lesson, whether it was a lesson for her studies or for discipline? She did not know what to do, but she went with the last one, planting a peck on her Satu's cheek and uttering a soft, "Thank you."

Arianni knew it was the wrong thing to do as soon as she did it. They were not related; was she even supposed to show such affection to one who was not family? Even if she was a friend? She did not know, and she felt like such a failure because of her non-existent social grace. Unconsciously, she reverted to her comfort zone - her magic - not even knowing what she was doing.

A pea-sized rip in time and space opened between their faces, a small black hole. Its pull was strong enough that Arianni felt her trussed hair being pulled forward, strands of them being sucked in the portal. With it, of course, came the voice from beyond, whispering in her mind, stronger than ever.

...doing a little exploring, are we, little one? it asked, raspy and malicious.

The girl's eyes widened in terror both from hearing the voice full force as well as losing control and displaying such magic to her new friend. Such things were forbidden! In twitch reaction, she pushed Satu away, or perhaps she pushed herself away, but both of them staggered away from the small vortex.

"No!" Arianni cried, both to deny to the voice and as a willful response to collapse the void. The portal vanished and the voice did not speak again, but the girl's eyes remained wide, staring now at Satu in mortification. "I'm sorry," she mouthed, or started to. Unable to bear judgment from the other should it be given, Arianni turned and fled.

She could not run very far, however, tired as she was from the suvai practice. After clearing the third tree on her left, she was winded. Arianni placed the tree between her and Satu, in an attempt to hide from the other's, she was sure, damning eyes perhaps. She leaned against the tree's bark, slowly lowering herself to the ground as weakness overtook her. Stupefied, with a blank look on her face, she placed her hands on her knees, and her head on her hands.

And then she cried.

Shared Innocence [flashback] Arianni & Satu

Postby Satu on October 12th, 2010, 6:06 pm

Satu, being inexperienced in matters of infatuation, had simply never met anyone that captured her attention the way this timid Konti had. Yet with no experience herself, she was still not as naïve or sheltered as Arianni appeared to be. After all, the HeartSeer perceived ardent emotions regularly, granted she felt them through other people. But now, with Arianni, she felt these same feelings blossom and grow within her own Heart, and she was utterly intrigued to see where it would lead. There were so many things she desired to do with Arianni, so many… Lost in pleasant and passionate thoughts, the young Konti was surprised when Arianni gave her a sweet, chaste kiss on the cheek. Satu almost giggled. The poor girl’s Confusion was immediately apparent to her HeartSense, and Satu’s inner sight caught the colorful vortex of emotions emanating from her HeartCenter. Satu opened up her own Heart to the girl, vowing to show her new friend that these new feelings could be comforting and enjoyable, and not at all alarming. Focused on Arianni’s face, Satu drew closer, drawn in by the overwhelming urge to kiss her.

But something happened! A void opened between them! Satu, having no experience with magic, did not know what it was, though she felt the power and the pull of it. Terror! Exploded from Arianni’s Heart! And the novice seemed as surprised as Satu to see the thing. Where had it come from? Satu was bewildered and as Arianni pushed her away. There was no time to react or even think properly. But her legs strong and firm from long hours on the practice floors, held her body upright against the girls weak hands. Arianni stared at Satu with a horrified look, and Satu was at a loss, unsure of what was even happening. Arinanni’s silent apology confused her more.

“Wait!” Satu called as the other Konti ran off. Dumbfounded, she stared at the retreating figure. What had just happened? Had Arianni somehow rejected her? No! That did not feel true in her Heart. But Arianni was troubled! And the girl needed some kind of help! Walking through the grass, her legs taking long strides it was easy to find her, after all Satu had watched her stumble away, and she had not made it far. Arianni sat behind a shady tree, leaning against the trunk, head bowed on her hands. The posture was so very similar to when they had first met that Satu was saddened too, though Arianni had not been crying then. Satu’s considerable Heart went out to her friend.

“Arianni…?” Satu said softly, as she pushed a strand of hair off the girl’s shoulder, and hugged her with the other arm. Warmth and caring radiated from the contact. “I don’t know what just happened…. I…, I am not wise in these things. But I can help you, if you need help. Can you tell me what…?” Satu paused, she did not know enough about magic to even ask proper questions concerning it. Magic principles were utterly beyond the suvai fighter. “We should get you home. You are worn, and rest would do you well. Come now, I will help you…” And she offered the girl a gentle hand to help her up from the soft grass.

Shared Innocence [flashback] Arianni & Satu

Postby Arianni D'Sorn on October 18th, 2010, 2:35 am

Arianni felt the other Konti's touch and she looked up with tear-streaked eyes to find once again that Satu was very close to her. There was no judgment in the other girl's gaze as she had feared, only genuine concern. Satu did not care that she she practiced magic, unlike her mother who had initially been vehement that she give it up when she had first discovered her daughter's interest in the art. Satu did not even care that she was not very good at it, unlike her tutors and fellow students who had laughed and jeered at her when she had first failed the aptitude test for the art of voiding. There was only truthfulness at the suvai fighter's words when she declared her promise for help, though Arianni could already tell that Satu did not know what she'd be getting into with that promise even before the other girl confirmed it herself. Still, it only endeared her further to Arianni, enough to stem the flow of the shy girl's tears and still the sobbing that escaped her lips.

"It's...it's what I do," Arianni tried to explain, her voice barely above a whisper now, as if afraid that others might hear her terrible secret. "Intimacy with the suvai is your gift. Magic is mine. It's...it's in my blood."

As if to emphasize her point, the daughter of Avalone held out a hand and concentrated. within seconds, a small black hole burst into existence just above her opened palm. It was larger than the previous one, about as big as a golden Miza, but there was no pull to it, unlike before. At all angles it appeared like a dark globe, with nothing but empty blackness within.

Of course, with the opening of the rift in time and space, the sweet whispers that accompanied it insinuated itself within Arianni's mind. Ever since the first time she overgave, that unfortunate mishap that almost killed her, the voice had been a constant companion whenever she tapped within herself to open a void. Sometimes it aided her and gave sage advice, other times it taunted her.

Like now.

...do you not want to explore the endless possibilities within? it called, mocking laughter in its tone.

"Do you not hear it?" Arianni asked her friend but the look the other gave her told her that she did not. The girl did not know where to be relieved to know that only she was afflicted with such a curse, or be afraid that she might be going insane. "There is a voice that speaks to me whenever I open a void like this one. Sometimes, I am afraid of it. But I cannot help myself. Magic is..."

Arianni did not finish. She swayed, dizzy from her earlier exertions and the energy she was expending from keeping the small portal open. Her hand fell limp on her lap and the portal winked out of existence soon after. She looked up again at Satu's kind eyes.

"Home..." she whispered. "Home would be best, yes. Will you... will you help me?" The girl struggled to stand up but clearly she had weakened herself to the point of exhaustion. Holding on to Satu's shoulders for support, she finally managed to get to her feet. She pointed to the west, to the direction of the nearest shore. "I live over that way..."

She leaned into Satu, glad for the solid support given by her new-found friend as they walked homeward bound together. Despite distressed state earlier, the girl felt happy...sated. She had just opened a void - twice! - and it exhiliarated her. Satu, with her Heartsense, would clearly wonder as to why her friend felt that way, were she attuned to the girl's feelings.

Despite what she might admit to otherwise, magic has ever been an addiction to the weak-willed Arianni.

Shared Innocence [flashback] Arianni & Satu

Postby Satu on October 20th, 2010, 4:22 am

“What does it do?" Satu asked, her sea blue eyes wide. She had never seen anything like it, and so had no understanding what it could possibly be used for. Still kneeling by Arianni, Satu looked from the girl, to the void, and back to the girl again. Her intake of breath was audible. The void was dark, empty, and so very foreign to anything Satu had ever experienced, especially within her colorful HeartSense. Instinctively, a part of her knew on some level that this entailed a very different thought process than her own. She could feel now why Arianni was unique. Magic! Magic had only been a meaningless word to Satu, some unknown thing and something she had no knowledge of with its study and focused thoughts. Movement was what she knew, and this was the opposite of that.

The suvai fighter shook her white braids, “No… I hear no sound.” Though she strained her ears to listen, Satu did not know if this was normal or not. But Arianni’s hand dropped limply, and Satu could see the girl was exhausted and weak. Firstly, she had been tired from the strenuousness of the suvai practice. And now, with this feat of magic, she seemed even more so. It was obvious in the looseness of the muscles and the way Arianni held herself, a weight rested upon the girl. “Lean on me!” Satu directed, as one arm supported the girl by the waist, and lifted with a caring and compassionate strength. The other hand rested in the front, just above Arianni’s abdomen. It was a butterfly touch, light and almost teasingly soft, but a tension remained in the fingers, ready to become a firmer foundation should Arianni need it. A quiet strength lay in Satu’s muscles, along with a confidence in her body’s ability to support the smaller girl. “Arianni, you are tired… let me help you.” The HeartSeer’s body was warm and supportive as they walked the flower-lined pathways of Mura towards Arianni’s home.

Satu became puzzled at one point along the way as an out of place Happiness seemed to fill Arianni’s Heart. Since the magic user was physically drained, and most likely emotionally drained as well, it seemed out of place. Too polite to mention this, Satu only smiled to the girl, reassuringly. And when Arianni stumbled, Satu was there to offer support. As they reached the airy setting of her home, Satu was amazed by the beauty all about. It was in this peaceful place that a thought formed in Satu’s mind. There was no grounding in an ethereal place such as this. “Arianni, listen to me… I believe I know what you must do, so as not to be so fearful!” And Satu continued, firm in her convections to honestly share her thoughts and ideas, for her new friend’s benefit. Satu placed a hand on the girl’s arm, “You must learn to become grounded. And learn to focus... It is like that with the beginner stance, and the suvai too. Until I learned to find it, my Gift distracted me from what I hoped to accomplish. And now – now with balance, and connection, I am able to use this to my advantage.” Her eyes searched the mismatched ones before hers for understanding. “You could do this also... with your magic. Find the foundation, then the strength.” Thinking more, she continued, “You need the physicality that grounding can offer your body.” But this was how Satu thought, how she perceived the world, in physical movement. Who could say if she was misguided? “But enough! Let us get you inside!” And she said as an after thought, “I can not bear to hear that you feel afraid. I could… I would, help you to learn.” Satu offered freely with an open smile.

Shared Innocence [flashback] Arianni & Satu

Postby Arianni D'Sorn on October 24th, 2010, 11:34 pm

"It's is an opening to a..." Arianni hesitated as she tried to explain to Satu. It was obvious her friend had no knowledge in such a field and she did not want to explain it in a way that was to difficult to grasp. She wanted Satu to be able to appreciate it as much as she did - in the same way that Satu made her appreciate the suvai.

"...to another place, different from out world. It seems limitless, according to what I've read. And it may seem empty, but it's not. There are...things... out there. And the voice." Arianni quieted, contemplative, as Satu half-supported and half-dragged her along towards her house. Her friend was strong despite the deceptively fragile-looking form for their race, not once buckling from her weight. Physically weak herself, Arianni rather enjoyed the touch of the suvai fighter, her arms seeming as if embracing her, to protect her from the harshness of the world and shield her from her fears. She took comfort in Satu's strength and the friendship and companionship she offered.

Soon enough, they arrived at the seaside cottage Arianni shared with her mother. The house was small as compared to most Konti dwellings around the island and the interior was sparse, having only a table and chairs set and several bookcases and a cupboard lining its walls. Still, Arianni had a room of her own and she asked Satu to bring her there. The room was even more cramped. With just the two of them inside, it already felt crowded. Arianni sat on her bed to make space for her friend, who was left standing just outside the door.

"It's a little small," the girl apologized, embarrassed. Save for that one time her magic tutor came to speak with her mother, no one has ever come to her house before. Arianni felt flustered, not knowing how to act as hostess for her friend. She stood up once more, still a little wobbly but, with some of her energy returned, managed to stay on her feet without support.

"We....we have refreshments! Umm..." She peered out into the living area, wondering just where her mother kept such. Fruit trees! They had fruit trees out the back, and surely there must be wine...somewhere. Arianni moved to bring something for her friend but found Satu still blocked the narrow doorway. Their eyes met briefly but Arianni's mismatched orbs fell to the ground once more. She knew she was being a poor hostess to Satu, who took all the trouble to take her home from the pavillion.

"Thank you for bringing me back here," she whispered. "I...I want to repay you for all your help. Would you...would you stay for a meal? Mother won't be home until the afternoon but I'm sure I can find something for us to eat..."

Shared Innocence [flashback] Arianni & Satu

Postby Satu on October 30th, 2010, 7:06 pm

The small seaside house was simple, yet comfortable. The sparsely furnished rooms so very different from the colorful and pillow filled rooms of Satu’s own home. The suvai fighter wasn’t used to such small and intimate spaces. But the forced closeness made her HeartSense all the more alert with the visceral nearness of Arianni. A smile lit Satu’s face, “Thank you for showing me this. It’s perfect.” And it was, just like Arianni in Satu’s mind. In the cramped space of the doorway, their eyes met again and Satu answered, “I will stay, if you like.” The moment so still, the HeartSeer could feel Arianni’s Vessel become flustered. The girl needed calming! So Satu waited until Arianni looked up from her lowered eyes once more. Without giving the magic user time to react with another black void, Satu leaned in and kissed her, quietly and tenderly, her lips soft and moist. Her eyes closed briefly before she pulled away and giggled, sea blue eyes sparkling. Giving Arianni no chance to respond, Satu turned the girl around and pushed her towards the bed. “Rest now!” The suvai fighter naturally took charge over the other Konti, and assured her, “I will find something suitable for us to eat, and you can relax while I look, you must be exhausted.”

The energetic Konti found sweet smelling mangos and apples in the garden, and grapes and a hearty loaf of bread in the kitchen sideboard. Opening cabinets, a bottle of wine beckoned her. And she called to her friend, “May I open this?” But she opened the bottle and poured the wine into two simple glasses before Arianni had answered. The girl spoke so lowly at times that Satu wasn’t even sure if she had answered. Throughout Satu’s expedition in the kitchen she had kept conversation going with Arianni in the other room. “I’ve got it!” She finally sang, poking her head in the room, hands full of wine and food. “Are you hungry?”

Satu, ever confident in her movements, crossed the room in one stride and sat close to Arianni on the bed. Her braids by this time had come somewhat loose, and strands of stray, white hair framed her face like a halo. “This is yours,” she said, offering a glass of wine. Rarely did Satu drink much alcohol, except for special occasions. And this felt very much like a special occasion, so she took a large sip of her own wine and enthused, “You are so very lucky to have trees such as these! Try this!” Satu held a slice of slippery mango between her wet and sticky fingers out towards Arianni’s mouth for her to taste.

Shared Innocence [flashback] Arianni & Satu

Postby Arianni D'Sorn on November 1st, 2010, 12:22 am

Despite her friend's advise, Arianni could hardly relax. Not after such an intimate moment was shared with them. Satu had kissed her! The innocent girl somehow felt it was different from the light peck she had impulsively planted on her friend's cheek earlier on. Satu's was deliberate and felt more personal. Arianni's face burned as she came to the realization that it was a grown up kiss, similar to those shared by the hero and the damsel in distress in her many books. It was a new experience, a novel sensation. And somehow very, very different. None between them was a man, though Satu certainly held the confidence and surety of one, qualities displayed by the heroes in the stories Arianni had read.

Am I the damsel in distress then? she thought, her mind wandering.

Truth be told, the girl did not know how to take the intimate action, though she had to admit that it made her feel warm and raised her heartbeat to a faster tempo. Growing up, she had never been exposed much to other children her age except in her studies of magic, and most of her classmates there deliberately ignored her for her strange, unnerving eye, if not downright shunned her. As such, Arianni did know of the curious and exploratory gestures adolescents her age go through, if such were the reason behind her friend's kiss. It was a phase of experimentation, as adult would have explained to Arianni. But none were around now, and she was left wondering if she should have kissed Satu back. If the girl was honest with herself, and had she felt brave enough to admit it to herself, Arianni knew she would have wanted to. She rather liked the feel of Satu's soft and moist lips.

But instead Arianni just sat on her bed, a little lost and confused. She hardly heard her friend calling out her progress in obtaining food for them, only realizing that Satu was done when the other girl returned to her side.

"Oh, hello," Arianni greeted once more as Satu sat beside her. She blushed as she remembered her friend's nearness earlier and her gaze found the floor once more, though she still had the presence of mind to accept the glass of her mother's wine. Arianni never drank herself, only occasionally dipping bread in the strong drink to add flavor to it. In her momentary distraction however, she absentmindedly took a long sip from her glass, only to realize belatedly that it was not water she was partaking in. She gulped it down anyway, not wanting to embarrass herself in front of her friend by spitting it out. Unused to taking in large quantities of the potent liquid, Arianni coughed involuntarily just as she swallowed most of it, causing a little bit of the wine to dribble out the corner of her mouth. Awkwardly, she wiped it with the back of her hand before setting down her glass by the nightstand.

"Mo-mother likes to garden as well," she shared once she had recovered. "I...I think there are strawberries too, a little farther back..." Arianni's voice drifted off as she looked at Satu's proffered hand. Good though her friend may be with the suvai, she obviously never spent much time in the kitchen, as evidenced by the haphazard way the mango was cut, leaving her fingers sticky with the fruit's juices. She giggled as she imagined what kind of mess her friend must have left out in the small kitchen. Obligingly, she leaned forward to take in the mango, taking care not to accidentally bite her friend's fingers. Hardly needing to chew at all, the slice of fruit slid smoothly down her throat, soothing away the sensation left by the wine.

"Mother has a way of slicing the mango with diagonal cuts on opposite sides that when you push it up from the peel, it looks like a flower. And you can easily scoop up the mango cubes with a spoon. But these are good too!"

Appearing to have recovered from her lethargy now, partly because of the wine, Arianni seemed to be in better spirits now as she enjoyed the company of her friend as they shared the small meal between them.
