2nd of Spring, 515 AV
It was on this fateful day that her life would change.
A new chapter in her journey of life was about to begin.
A sunny morning graced the second day of spring, as Claudia woke up to a brand new day. It had been a while since she had applied to the squires, and she had not yet received any word on her application. She wondered if she had been successful.
She would definitely be heart-broken if she could not be part of the order, for it meant that she would not be able to become a knight. Becoming a knight was her childhood dream, and one she sought to fulfill. Washing up with a bucket of water she had requested from the innkeeper, she got dressed and made ready to get back out into the streets to carry out her daily errands and the like.
As she was about to leave, there was a series of loud knocks on the door. Claudia wondered who that could be, as she didn't have many friends in the city yet. Opening up the door, she saw a scrawny looking boy dressed simply in a uniform of a page with the order's insignia embroidered into it.
He clutched an official looking scroll in his hands, as he shot her a question. "Are you Claudia Blackwood?" She gave him a nod before replying "That's me."
The boy then stretched out his hands, presenting the scroll to her "I was tasked to deliver this message to you. It comes directly from the Office of Recruitment, from Ser Erik Rainstrom himself. Please take it." He presented her with a brief smile, as he finished offered her the scroll again.
Grabbing the scroll from his grubby hands, Claudia tore open the wax seal that had been affixed to the scroll. Unrolling it, she let out a gasp as she read the contents of the message. It read
Dear Claudia Blackwood,
I am pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into the order as a Squire. Please proceed to the Squire Dormitories and look for Chaperone Rachel Pernis. She will then introduce you to your bunk and inform you about your patron.
Best Regards,
Ser Erik Rainstorm
As she digested the information, Claudia couldn't help but jump for joy. She had finally been accepted into the order. She was finally a squire. She was well on her way to achieve her dream of being a Knight someday. Turning back into her room, she packed her belongings and vacated the room.
As she got to the ground floor of the Golden Dragon, she waved to the innkeeper as she told him she would be leaving, saying "A new chapter begins!" earning her a puzzled look as she left, not a clue as to what in the world the girl was talking about.
