Birthplace: Avanthal, Winterflame Hold (1st generation immigrant) Physical Appearance Height: 5' 10" Weight: 145lb Build: Thin but toned Skin: Mildly pale (due to growing up with long Avanthal nights, cloudy days and always covered with several layers of fur, lest the chill air freeze any exposed skin) Hair: Blonde, cut short and boyish Eyes: Slate green Character Concept Personality: Violet is generally wary and solitary, having had no friends or relatives with whom she really connected with in her home town. This also makes her somewhat naive, new and vulnerable in relationships. She does, however, know very well the wisdom and "street-smarts" of how to do and say all the right things to those in authority. She's spent nearly her entire life spinning an elaborate tale of false character and desires solely to please those around her, and she also knows very well how to keep out of the eye of troublemakers and snitches. Ethics: Violet was raised in a society founded upon rigid structure and pre-determined everything, thus, partly in rebellion, and partly in empathy for others, she believes just as rigidly in situational ethics, that no rule can possibly cover every situation, and there are no absolutes in life. Her relationship with the law is complicated, as both the criminal and the law enforcer have equal capacity to be the party worthy of sympathy; but, in general, Violet has an initial distrust of all authority, though she is wise enough not to be forthright about it. Although she has always had an aversion to heterosexual relationships, sex and intimacy has simply never been something Violet has thought much about growing up. No doubt she will be forced to think more actively about it as she delves into the adult life of relationships and connects with people she truly trusts. Character History Violet's parents, Gregory and Geyvla, immigrated to Taldera from Cyphrus just months before she was born. There, she was raised in a very traditional, religious structure until she was 21 winters old, learning to do her part in the Winterflame hold cooking for the people of the city. During the year of 513 while she was still living in Avanthal, she met a traveller who had come to stay for the winter, biding through the heavy snowfalls that blocked the trade routes for several months of the year. He told her of many stories and the way of his people in a far off land. Violet was enthralled by the stranger and asked him to be her teacher. He gave her a book written by his people about what he called "The way of harmony", and taught her the basics of self-defense he had learnt to protect himself while travelling, and a form of unarmed combat called "Earth form". It was this experience that inspired her to ask him to take her with him when he left again in the spring. Due to her parents acceptance, who had grown to become more contemporary over the years, and her master's generous and compassionate heart, she was given consent to go with the merchant. The two traveled slowly south over the years, the merchant doing his trade and Violet learning more from him of the art and cooking food they foraged for or bought at each town, until they parted ways at Syliras.
