Race: Human
Gender: Female.
Age: 18
Birthday: 17, Winter, 499
Birthplace: Mithryn Outpost

Appearance: She's 5'0", and 100 lb (soaking wet), but wiry with muscle that she's earned the hard way and still boyish. Her long black hair is kept in a practical braid down her back. Her eyes are as dark as her hair and her weathered face makes her look older than her years. She has a thin scar across the inside of her right forearm, and another across her left jaw.

Character Concept

She's quiet and wary, preferring to keep her head down and avoid the attention of anyone in authority, but if she sets her mind to something she can be very stubborn about it. Sometimes her stubbornness is focused on answers for her curiosity.

She enjoys being outside and earning her own living, but sometimes other youngsters fill her with something between wistfulness and envy, because she would like to have had a childhood that wasn't more work than play, or because they're wearing pretty things that she has never been able to afford.

Most of the time she seems friendly and cheerful, if somewhat shy, but if she feels trapped or threatened a darker, more bitter, Dove forces its way to the surface.

Character History

Her mother died having her, and her father blamed Dove for the loss of his wife, calling her after the mourning doves or pigeons that croon constantly. She joined the rest of her family working in the fields as soon as she was old enough to walk. She always seemed to draw the hardest jobs of stone picking and bird scaring. Time ticked along quietly and she began to grow up. Then the Storm came. She spent it huddled in the depths of Syliras with the other farmers whie the storm and the riots broke over them. She and her father survived, but injured. Her older brother and sister didn't.

The Storm changed everything. Her father, deep in grief and hating that Dove continued to survive where others died, insisted on staying in the citadel. Dove hated it there. She missed the sky and the open air and the fields, and as soon as she could, she moved back home to Mithryn. Hunger taught her to supplement her rations with anything she could find on her way to and from the fields where she worked, and to make the best she could from what she had. Pride, and a desire not to stand out, made her mend the tears in her clothes carefully and keep up the appearance of a decent life even when much of her money went back to her father.
