Brandon has earned the first mark from Dira during this quest! He can also recognize other areas similar to the seemingly lifeless area where the mudpool was found.
Congrats on surviving! As I said this quest could have ended in several different ways, and not all of them ended with him receiving a mark. Feel proud that you managed to pull it off!
