Reunions

Postby Autumn Leithea on September 23rd, 2015, 5:36 pm

24th of Autumn, 515 AV

"Come on kids, we're just about there, stick together so nobody gets lost now." stated Autumn. It was crowded on the boat, and there was an uproar of cheers as land could be seen after days of being out at sea with nothing to quell peoples' general uneasy demeanor, a demeanor that had plagued them with a contagious dread that spread through everyone, and finally seeing land deflated their fear and filled them with a hope Autumn had not seen throughout their entire exodus from Sunberth. People were cheering and laughing as word got around that land could be seen off in the distance. Autumn felt happy that they were finally at peace.
She had tried to help the best she could to keep peoples' spirits up throughout the entire endeavor, but she was only one woman. Distributing food evenly, taking but a crust of bread or a ladelful of soup for herself. Marjorie and Grandmother Anna took care of the sick and wounded the best they could, some had been trampled on those god forsaken docks of Sunberth that god forsaken day. Autumn frequently had wondered what had become of their home, but dismissed the daydream then and there in order to better concentrate on caring for the people, her brethren of Sunberth. Autumn, Marjorie, and Grandmother Anna had offered their linens to the sick, young, and elderly, as it was all they could give to the starving, weary passengers of their savior ship.
Autumn had hated the crew and, of course, the captain. They would eat heartily in front of the starving people, throwing their scraps on the floor to watch hungry folk, good people mind you, belittling themselves falling to their knees to pick up the scraps and eat. They would talk about how pitiful the passengers were right in front of them, with weapons stayed so there was no logical way to confront them. The captain, well, there was a special place in hell reserved for that man.
The sick, elderly, and youth occupied the hold, whilst Autumn, Marjorie, Grandmother Anna, and the rest of the weary strong held out day and night on deck, often with stinging cold rain plaguing them. They held eachother close in groups to stay the windswept cold from their bodies. Day after day, night after night they fought the elements firsthand on that crowded ship.
But now it was over, they had reached their destination through hell and beyond, and had overcome.
"Cmon kids, are you ready?"
Jack was the young boy, about ten years old, a smart little bugger, and rambunctious as well. He smiled at Autumn and reached up to hold her hand. He was bashful as he had a little boy crush on Autumn, whose weary smiles had kept him going throughout their journey.
Lily and her sister Stephanie were next. At twelve and seven respectively, they followed hand in hand next to Marjorie. Lily had risen to the challenge to take care of her sister, sharing food and blankets with her and making sure her sister wasn't scared. She had grown strong so fast, and Autumn thought to herself that it reminded her of her own personality after all that Autumn had been through earlier in life. Stephanie was a curious, kind spirit frightened by the journey, but as the mood lifted from the passengers you could see her true self as the free, happy spirit that she was.
"Everyone together?" stated Autumn.
They all said yes and got in line to disembark.
The vessel slowly pulled into port, a port of magnificent sailing vessels, vessels that could only be constructed by experienced carpenters, mathematicians, and organizers all working in tandem flawlessly to build such jewels of the ocean, their thick, dark colored sails proudly billowing in the wind.
They disembarked the ship and continued onto the dock and tried to get their bearings.
"Everyone here?" Autumn asked. They all said yes. "Great, lets go into town and see what we can find, we should set up camp on the outskirts of the city after we've been through her for a day."
"I agree." said Marjorie.
"I'll watch the kids hon." said Autumn to Marjorie.
"Alright, bye." they kissed.
"Eeew, girls kissing!" said Jack.
The two smiled.
"Is it really that terrible Jackie?" asked Autumn with a smile.
"...No." he said.
"Alright I'll go with Gramma Anna and we'll check the far side of the city, you guys stay in the near side of the city."
"Agreed."
They all began walking along the docks together, as Zeltiva was lain out before them.
"Autumn, what about the parents?" said Marjorie slowing to a stop.
"Do you want to wait for them here? We can wait in shifts."
"Agreed." said Marjorie. Autumn gave Marjorie a kiss.
"I'll be here for sundown babe."
"Alright. Be careful in there, we're not in Sunberth anymore." said Marjorie with a care in her voice.
"We will."
And with that, Autumn, Grandmother Anna, and the kids made their way towards the city of Zeltiva, wondering what lay in store for them as they went.

Reunions

Postby Autumn Leithea on October 9th, 2015, 7:43 pm

It was generally good weather as they made their way towards the city, a needed relief from the bitter rain that had pained them on their trip over from Sunberth. It felt like Autumn to them, and the bay glistened and glimmered in the warm sunlight above them. With the weather so crisp and sunfelt they felt happy for once, a pure and exuberant mood within them.
"Grandma... hold on." Autumn said.
"What is it honey?"
"We should split up and find shelter while the other group explores the city. We'll meet up with Jorie at sunset. I'll take Lily and you can take Jack and Stephanie. We'll go find us a place to set up camp."
"I agree dearie."
"Okay!" said Autumn, bending down at the knees to look at Jack in the eyes. Jack turned away.
"You just wanna get rid of us, don't you!"
"No, it's not like that hon, you need to take care of Grandma Anna while we're gone, can you do that?"
"Yeah!" he said happily, finally being trusted with an adult job to do.
"Yes!" Autumn said, and with that she gave him a big hug.
"I can protect you too Autumn, just wait till we get back together again! You'll see!"
Autumn laughed and told him to go with Grandmother Anna, and with that the little boy ran over to Grandmother Anna and stood right beside her, puffing out his chest. Jack seemed to have almost forgotten his parents, as it was his first time on his own without them. He had an adventurous spirit, and enjoyed being trusted with adult endeavors that were beyond his years. Stephanie looked up at Autumn with eyes that showed how much she missed her parents, and that her life had quickly gone out of control. She was frightened, and Autumn could tell so.
Squatting down in front of Stephanie she gave her a hug.
"You're gonna be alright Stephanie, your parents will be here by Sundown, so you might as well have a good time in the city!"
Stephanie looked at her with her big blue eyes and a smile came to her lips.
"Thanks Autumn." she said warmheartedly, her sorrow being replaced by her natural joy bubbling up for her heart.
Autumn smiled, she knew that Stephanie was mature, all it took was someone to believe in her.

Reunions

Rayala had the habit of watching who was coming and going on the ships, if only because it gave her more of an idea of what was to come for the city. If wealthy people disembarked, it meant there would be more mizas going around. At least that was her theory. She was still figuring out how economies worked outside her home of Sunberth.

She was simply meandering through the crowds, looking around idly at the people. Mithan, her snake, was of course resting lazily on her shoulders and influencing people to keep a slight distance. it didn't help her to keep under the radar, but for the moment, seh didn't really have a place to put him when she went out. So the only logical conclusion was to bring him with her everywhere she went.

Raya stopped in her walking as she saw a group of children and a few women, blinking slowly. It seemed, to her, that it was a rather large family to move about with, but, then again, she wouldn't know what the 'normal' size was. Mostly she was jsut contemplating all the energy it took to be around that many children. At the same time she was worried if the family had a place to stay, being the size they were. Children really should have some sort of shelter.

While she had been thinking, she had started to make her way closer, simply moving with the crowd and listening as best she could. She thought to hear something about shelter, but with other conversations going on, she couldn't quite tell if that meant they had something or needed to find something. While she hadn't been here but so long,s he knew, in theory, she could still offer help. But would that be free help or a way to help her make enough mizas for a place to stay herself?

Ah, well, she would let fate decide that one.

The woman walked closer to the group, shifting Mithan a bit to try and make him look smaller and less threatening, not that the snake was anything near threatening. Really, he was like a little ball of lazy scales. "Ah...you all lookin' for someone or soemthin'?," she offered with a faint, friendly smile.

Reunions

Postby Autumn Leithea on October 21st, 2015, 9:23 pm

Being in a new place was a joy to Autumn, her curious spirit running wild throughout the new landscape, bathing in the warmness of the setting sun. People were hurriedly scurrying this way and that, many a refugee attempting to get to a place they could rest within the city, a cool and crisp air welcoming them bitterly into their new home. Many had nothing but the clothes on their backs, and with little a miza to spare they joyfully traversed the crowded docks on their way to what would be their salvation. Here and there a great number of refugees waited at the docks, as Marjorie was, in order to reconnect with their separated brethren, and as ships came to dock their eyes looked over many strangers before most burst out with a warmth in their hearts as lost family members could be seen wearily smiling at the sight of their mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters. Other hopeful eyes gazing toward the influx of new refugees and waiting evermore for their own heartwarming reunions.
Grandmother Anna welcomed the youngsters Jack and Stephanie with her and had made her way to the outskirts of the city to explore and find a place to eat and perhaps sleep a little after their cramped ride over the seas to Zeltiva. They had gone and Autumn could see the two children clearly, Jack almost dancing around with his terribly underestimated energy showing, Stephanie hand in hand with Grandmother Anna. They looked in good spirits, as was Grandmother Anna whenever she had the privilege of caring for children. Autumn smiled as she saw them in a good mood, as she always smiled when someone else was in a good mood. She turned to Lily, the eldest of the children;
"We should find someone who knows those hills well. We may be able to ask them where we could set up camp."
"I agree." said the startlingly mature Lily. "We could explore it ourselves perhaps, but you're right, asking for someone to help would be easier."
"You know, now that you mention self-exploration, I'd rather find our campsite ourselves rather than someone else telling us. We'd have to pay them, and I'd assume most wouldn't be up for the endeavor to personally show us around the hills surrounding their Zeltiva." Autumns adventurous spirit showing. "They don't look too far off, and we have about an hour before we have to meet up with Jorie again."
"Okay." replied Lily firmly.
As they were talking they had to raise their voices just a little bit; the crowd at the docks was in a furor of commotion this way and that. Another ship was arriving, so Autumn blew a kiss to Marjorie at the end the dock which was playfully returned and they began walking.
Just then they heard someone say;
"Ah...you all lookin' for someone or soemthin'?,"
and they turned to see it was a strange young woman, though she sounded friendly to Autumn, her having an innate sense of these kind of things. Her aura seemed odd too, not in a terrible way but in a startlingly unique way, as if she gave off the energy of being wildly eccentric.
"Um, yes actually." stated Autumn, greatly enthused by the young woman's pet snake. She turned to Lily whom closed her eyes and nodded to Autumn. "We're looking for a local to show us around the hills surrounding the..." Lily tugged on Autumn's shirt.
"Let's stay a night in town, and then tomorrow we can go explore for a campsite, it probably won't be too much anyways." she whispered.
"Okay!" said Autumn with a smile. She turned to the young woman again.
"We were wondering if you could show us where we could find a bed tonight in the city, could you show us the way?"

Reunions

Postby Autumn Leithea on November 3rd, 2015, 6:29 pm

As Marjorie watched Autumn go, she already missed her, but she had a duty to be there for the young ones' parents coming from one of the boats coming to harbor. If it was anything like their trip, a horrific journey of cold storm and biting rain, then they would be worn and tired, and being able to see their children would probably be the best thing for them.
The sun was setting, two lengths above the horizon and setting.
'This would only take a few hours...' thought Marjorie. She had no expectations, but continued to wait, and sat down at the edge of the pier to let her legs hang freely over the side. Colorful flashes of little schools of fish graced the water, almost like the play of color of an opal stone, and Marjorie welcomed them.
She watched as a vessel drew into her sight, gallantly drawing ever closer with its tall mast and thick sails. It was filled with people, and she could see how crowded it was by how a good amount of them were almost hanging over the sides of the side with no room to stand anywhere else. The magnificent Zeltivian vessel was traveling at speed, though seemed to be slowing down as the crew began to lower some of the sails as it began to reach port. Finally it made it's way to the dock and the dockhands helped moor it to the side of the gigantic pier, cheers ringing out from the people knowing their journey from Sunberth was finally over.
As the board hit the pier, people began hurriedly disembarking the ship, and in the crowd came the parents of Jack, Stephanie, and Lily, welcome faces that looked worried as to where their children were. Marjorie spotted them and called them over, and their worry was instantly lifted as smiles graced their weary faces.
"It's good to see you Jorie." Jack's mother stated.
"And you as well. The kids are in the city. Jack and Stephanie are with Grandma Anna and Lily is with Autumn. We'll wait here until they return for sundown."
"Good!" said Stephanie and Lily's father."
"I'm so glad you all made it."
"It was hard, there was some bad weather out of Sunberth, naturally, but it cleared up after we sailed out of the storm."
"Good to hear that."
Marjorie engaged them in a long conversation as they waited for the rest of their group, gradually easing their worries that had burdened them for the near ten day trip to Zeltiva.

Reunions

OOCSorry about the wait. Should be no issue now :)

Rayala smiled briefly at the reply, glancing over the woman and girl curiously some moments, taking in as many details as she could. They didn't look particularly well off, at least not that much above her. Though that wasn't too surprising considering they weren't born to Zeltiva and probably came from someplace a good while's travel away. Or someplace that worked with little. That seemed to hint at her help probably going to be out of the goodness of her heart, or...something like that anyway. But who knew? Maybe making friends with the two would prove useful later on. She glanced to the girl as she whispered tot he woman but soon focused on the woman again once she asked for a place to stay within the limits.

"Not much of a local but I have been here for a little while, so can at least show you the inn. It's not too far from here, in the Old Quarter. And I'm sure you can find somewhere there to show you the hills when ya're ready to go out that way," she explain before gesturing for the two to follow, keeping Mithan close to her due to the other people shuffling about. As much as she had started to grow accustom to the city, she was still wary of the people. She didn't know them, so she had even less reason than usual to trust anyone.

After a few moments, she would look back to the two, tilting her head to the side. Her snake would seem to mimic the movement. "So. What brings ya all here for? Intellectual pursuits or you just like sea cities?"

Reunions

Postby Autumn Leithea on November 11th, 2015, 12:04 am

"There was a storm." Autumn began, "A large storm that forced us from our home in Sunberth, and we fled by way of sea to this place. Our close friends and I escaped the worst of it, but we're unsure if anyone else was left behind, or what kind of damage the catastrophe had caused back home again. At port, the sailors forced us to barter, and most people didn't have the money. We're only hoping that the childrens' parents have made their way here, my lover Marjorie is waiting for them at the docks."
Autumn loved watching Rayala's movements, often akin to her snake, and was delighted at the girl's eccentricity; there were so few individuals who really made a statement to that of being wonderfully unique.
As they walked Lily turned to Autumn.
"Autumn I'm uncomfortable around her, she's just weird in some way." she said quietly under her breath. Autumn turned to Lily.
"Aw hon, don't you worry about her, she's just eccentric! I'm sure if you get to know her you'd like her a lot more."
"... and I'm afraid of crowds..."
"Well you have me here, and I'll watch out for you!" Autumn smiled. "Tell me about your life in Sunberth."
Lily was delighted to remember her home, and it gave her a strength she never knew she had, and being able to talk quelled the fear of crowds. She told of her home with gusto, and an improvisational spark that Autumn was delighted to witness, such a young person being so creative with her words.
Autumn just listened as they followed the young woman along the way into Zeltiva.
"By the way, I'm Autumn, and this is Lily. And you are?"

Reunions

Postby Rayala on November 16th, 2015, 5:56 am

Rayala stopped suddenly at the words about the storm in Sunberth. "Was the Tent City messed up too bad or...no idea?," she asked, pausing a moment before she added, "I'm from Sunberth myself, but I haven't been there for a good while." She rolls her shoulders briefly, Mithan moving a bit in response. To her it was nice that they were helping the children find their parents, but... "What happens if some of the little ones' parents don't show up?," she asked suddenly.

The woman looked between the two when the girl began whispering to the other woman, but then looked around to the crowds, watching them carefully to give them a bit of 'solitude'. She continued to walk forward since they seemed to still be following, a faint smile on her lips with the words about the girl's life in Sunberth. She couldn't help but be a bit glad for that, even if some of the memories brought darkness to her mind. Some of the memories simply hurt too much to dwell on them.

Rayala glanced back over her shoulder at the introductions, looking between the two. "It is nice to meet ya both. I'm Rayala," she reached up her hand to stroke briefly over the snake's light brown head, "And my friend here is Mithan."

Reunions

Postby Autumn Leithea on November 21st, 2015, 9:32 pm

"Pleased to meet you Rayala, Mithan."
Autumn enjoyed this woman's company already. She had a knack for these things, even without her natural talent with auristics. Autumn thought it impolite to read people's auras without them knowing, but she was so fluent with it already that it was part of her natural sense of things. She found the woman's presence and helpfulness very kind and couldn't wait to learn more.
As Autumn was thinking the woman mentioned Sunberth... And the tent city!
"I actually come from the tent city! Lived there most of my life. Same with my lover, Marjorie, and our godmother Grandmother Anna. We left before the winds could ravage the tent city, most everyone got out safely. It was a barren muddy field by the time that we left, smatterings of tents still there and the sanctela robbed of its precious cloth. We got out fine, but the others may not have."
They were nearing the city now, and it looked beautiful already. Lily was silent in protest of the woman's strangeness, and so Autumn knelt down and said;
"She's alright Lily, there's more to a person than just their outer appearance. Why don't you talk to her?"
"Okay..." said Lily weakly. The girl gathered up her courage and began talking. "Hey, you say you're from Sunberth, what was you life like there? Why did you leave? Do you miss her?" said Lily, obviously nervous.

Reunions

Postby Rayala on December 1st, 2015, 3:43 am

Image
At Autumn's mention of living in the Tent City, she gave a friendly smile. While her memories of the Tent City were mixed with the good and bad, she was still generally inclined to be more friendly to those from there. Authentically friendly, that is. Though it really was a shame that this jsut proved she didn't know everyone who lived there, even if she hadn't lived there since she was a child.

Her smile turned to a frown, though, at the words on the destruction of it. "Know if at least Grisham made it? Figure that old man could survive about anythin',"[/b} she said, a hint of amusement in her voice. It was better not to think of people she may have known dying and better to think of what may have become of that beggar.

She paused, glancing back as she noticed Autumn had knelt down to Lily, cocking her head tot he side in curiosity. If she had upset the girl somehow, she hadn't meant to. But sometime it was hard to tell what would set people off and what wouldn't.

As the girl spoke, she started to lead again, giving her a friendly smile as she replied, [b]"It was alright. Lived in the Tent City, my ma died, moved to the actual city with my kinda sorta husband,"
a brief frown passed over her lips at the mention of her 'husband' - for lack of a better word - but it quickly passed. She shouldn't dwell on that either. Like the Tent City, memories of him were both good and bad, the bad being something she wished she could forget. "I miss it sometimes," she continued in a happy tone, "but haven't been there for a few seasons already. Miss knowing most of everythin' that went on in a city, but...well, I'll just have to work on that again." She ended with a grin, remembering her usual nightly wanderings, listening to what she could, when she could. It had been nice. But finding out new information was even better. "And left cause I felt like an adventure, 'sides, promised my sorta husband that I'd settle down in a 'safe' city sooner or later. Ya know, men always worried about protecting women," she added with a joking tone and a shrug. It was the truth, that much was for sure. Just...without mentioning the worst bits of it. That was something reserved for her own mind.
