Character Concept

By most regards a pleasant man Daresh, is liked by most who have met him. Daresh is kind to those he meets and offers assistance near whenever it is called for. Those who are a little more critical of Daresh often say they feel he is trying too hard; They would be correct. Daresh is often trying to prove himself, not to others but to himself. Daresh is often plagued by self doubt, questioning his own motives for doing much of what he does. The fear of becoming his father; a cruel, vicious and uncaring man, is Daresh's greatest fear. Oftentimes the thought that his kindness is only a façade, something he does simply to spite his father, crosses Daresh's mind. Usually it ends in strengthening his resolve to put more good into the world.

Character History

Koriq Talir was a Sylirian Knight, not one of any particular importance or station. In the fall of 490 AV Koriq's wife was heavy with child, he had been looking forward to having a child to raise and instill knightly values into. When the day came however their were complications, Daresh survived but his mother did not. Koriq went into a depressive spiral, taking heavily to the drink. Time was given to him to recover but as time went on Koriq continued to get worse. Drunkness on duty and violent bouts with the citizenry quickly began to chafe Koriq's superiors.

By the time Daresh was five his father had been stripped of his rank and expelled from the city. Koriq drifted finding work as a caravan guard, ship guard and once even a personal body guard, dragging Daresh behind him the whole time. Koriq often abused his son, blaming him for his mothers death and all of the bad things that followed after. Daresh bore it all the best he could, faint memories of the great fortress and the shining knights keeping him going.

At the age of ten Daresh however found himself alone in the middle of sunberth with nothing but his father's cold iron longsword. Koriq had gotten into a drunken brawl with a local and ended up with a knife in his throat. Daresh knew there was only one place for him, he needed to get back to Syliras at any cost. Being a knight was his life's goal and he would do whatever was necessary to achieve it. Eventually Daresh found passage on a ship to zeltiva where he served however he could. In Zeltiva he worked how he could to survive before finding a ship going further down the coast.

Slowly but surely he made his way closer to Sylrias, repeating his process whenever he hit a new city. It took a while but by his twelfth birthday he had found himself back in Syliras. In Daresh's dreams of that moment the knights accepted him with open arms swiftly welcoming him to the order. The reality was quite different though Daresh was too young to squire and to old to effectively page. Many Knights still remembered Koriq and were suspicious as well. Daresh was denied but allowed to stay in the city.

The denial didn't dampen Daresh's convictions though, he knew this was his calling. Daresh went to work in the day doing manual labor wherever it was available, in the night training with his only possession. Some of the knights took notice, helping to train and teach him in their free time. Daresh's skills quickly grew and with the vouching of a few knights he was allowed to become a squire. As a squire Daresh was highly devoted doing what was asked of him with a level of enthusiasm that made his patron laugh. Daresh's skills with his fathers blade continued to improve and before he was twenty Daresh was a full fledged knight. Since than Daresh has devoted himself to the order and the people of Syliras, it has been peaceful for him.

  • Please change your common language. As stated in the Ekeldi lore. You must be of Sargeant or higher, or be a knight out in the field where combat communication would be common. More specifically, you are also an unranked knight, meaning you have no completed your quest.

a unique sign language taught to every member once they complete their quest for Knighthood [...]
It is used more frequently by those assigned to Wing squads outside the walls, and by those who hold a Sergeant rank or higher.

Once you have fixed that error, please PM me by using the envelope on the side below my name and let me know.

Thank you, Astator
Which way do you want to go? Up or Down?

Attention Players, Graders, and Storytellers:

A character sheet does not require the green checkmark for the player to roleplay. This is just a notification to all that the character sheet has passed through the Liaisons thorough checklist and meets Mizahar standards.

All sheets with a large red X or a speech bubble beside their thread title do not recieve grades and cannot continue threads they are currently involved in until all issues have been fixed and verified.
