Fall 31st 515 A.v

The day had been young, and Skyard woke from his slumber earlier in the day. Cool breezes caused the Kelvics already wild and tangled hair to sway about from left to right. Today a casual stroll became much more than a simple walk, and turned into a situation much direr. Along the kabrin road as he’d taken a simple stroll he continuously heard distant growls. For mere moments he’d been perplexed, but he could very clearly understand what had been said. Felines often spoke by making more use of body language; yet with tone variants one can easily figure out what messages were being conveyed.

The perpetual sound of massive paws impacting the ground only further made Skyard anxious. Then suddenly, the air seemed to thicken around him; he stopped in his tracks. Clad in no more than a dingy shirt, and worn pants he heard the squish-squash of paws at an incredibly short distance away from him. His blood ran cold, and his hands trembled for fear had overcome any form of logical thinking. Had he been followed the entire time that he walked the Kabrin road casually? That seemed to be the case, afraid to turn around to face the predator he’d become victim; to he had to overcome fear.

Presently one could’ve easily mistaken him for an escaped slave with the way he’d been clothed. Perhaps he’d been being followed by a slaver. Skyard thought to himself about what would happen if he did indeed turn about to face what-ever or who-ever had been following him. Mere ticks felt like long bells as his patience thinned and his body tensed. Then finally the silence had been shattered as whatever it was vocalized itself. The very moment it’d done so he immediately identified it as a feline. Not any form of a household or “small” feline, but something massive. He stepped forth before he rotated his right foot at a ninety-degree angle and turned about sharply. Only to face what would now become his oppose, the roar from behind him caused his ear-drums to tremble. His heart thumped away beneath his chest cavity as he faced the fact that he’d been in grave danger. He’d however never seen a lion with a coat that was darker then the night sky with a lack of stars. A coat that was so dark that if it had been any later in the day the predator would’ve gone unseen, but in this case he hadn’t at all.

The opposing Feline spoke in a series of guttural growls and weakly vocalized roars in order to communicate a message that had been very clear. “You will leave now or you will be killed.” The voice spoke words of challenge and Skyard hadn’t been happy about that in the least bit. Challenges weren’t something to be thought lightly of nor brushed off in a situation like this. One male lion was cause enough for several more to be present in the area, and he had no clue where the rest of them would be. The Kelvic bravely accepted the challenge with a short remark. “I will, kill you.” He spoke under his breath before he slowly began stripping himself of his clothing. He dropped the dingy threads upon the ground beneath him, which left him completely nude. His form dissolved into a swirl of azure hue-d light and reformed in the same instant; Skyards white mane flowed about with the winds touch. Sharp taloned claws dug into the soft ground beneath his forepaws and rear-paws he arched his spinal cord and began a brisk walk forth. The walk immediately transitioned into an incredibly rapid pace dash.

He tilted his cranial structure downward and immediately rushed for his opponent. He charged in a fashion similar to that of a bull rushing into action. Skyards focus was solely to defeat his opponent; a vicious roar exited his esophagus as it helped him channel the djed through his body. The swirling djed coiled about within the muscles of his legs, and at ghastly speeds his rear-paws dug small craters beneath his path. Dirt had been kicked up into the air for a few feet. He endured the stinging pain and burning sensations accompanied with using the flux to move forward more rapidly. The movement was incredibly reckless and unskilled but for now he didn’t know what else to do against such a large opponent. His cranial structure then impacted the opposed lions own, and his opponent seemed to shrug off the impact. The Night Lion extended its claws from beneath the folds of its skin and struck back almost immediately. His opponent struck Skyard in the face leaving four distinct scratch marks across his visage; from forehead to snout. Aqua de vitae dripped from the boys face as he fought on and endured the intense pain.

Skyard reared backward and stood upon his hind legs. He launched a counter attack of his own, and attempted to pin down the enemy. The winds blew harshly and caused the Trees and blades of Grass to dance about melodically. Both the Lions manes danced about simultaneously as the display of nails and teeth continued. The two Lions both vocalized themselves powerfully and roars could most certainly be heard at vast distances. Skyards counter attack failed, as he quickly realized that his enemy was quite strong as well. The opposing lion raised itself up upon its hind legs as well, and the two practically locked paws. The sunlight shone upon the two, which somewhat brightened the battle. Yet, Synas grace hindered them both simultaneously because they’d lost a bit of vision.

A swift observation had however been made by Skyard; despite the fact that he hadn’t known rather or not it was true. The light seemed to disturb his opponent as it struck him in the eye. Skyard took advantage of what little opportunity the environment provided him with. He charged forward with all of his strength, and his muscles burned and stung in the process as he hadn’t been used to enduring long battles. A loud roar had been voiced once more as he’d done so and knocked his opponent over. Skyard then proceeded to sink his teeth into the flesh of his opponents’ right arm as he descended and fell upon his back. He needed help, because at this rate he wouldn’t last much longer. Perhaps he would find somewhere to run, but he worried about rather or not more Lions waited in the shadows. Would anyone arrive in order to help him; or would he have to escape this dire situation at his own accord?

Fall 31st 515 A.v
The Kabrin Road

It had been a week since Kiva found herself on this new world. Since she left Black Rock to explore the new land of Cyphrus. Everything was different! From the terrain, to the way the wind smelled, to the softness of the soil. More and more was she discovering how big the world really was, so much more than just the vast jungle of Falyndar, or the rocky cliffs of Black Rock. There was sea and land, and people and things she had never seen. Creatures so vastly different and strange that she found herself awestruck for days. The air held static, and Kiva could not contain herself to just one place. She explored the land, knowing just how dangerous this could be. What if she was attacked my a new predator? Lead astray and lost in unfamiliar territory? Bitten by a poisonous asp? Her heart beat like a steady drum, and she looked out among the new environment, taking in the long road and spaced trees. She inhaled a long, slow breath, the sky so full and lush, only the glimpses of wispy cloud interrupted such a dazzling display of blue. "Beautiful," she muttered in her native tongue, lowering herself to the soft grass.

Feet bare and hair in braided updo, Kiva wandered, eyes taking in whatever it could. A few feet in front of her, bundles of flowers swayed in the cool wind, black and deep purple, "What is this, Caiyha?" Moving closer, Kiva bent to pluck oneHeart of Akajia from Sea of Grass lore page. carefully from the group. It left no residue on her fingers, and no nasty beetle scurried from its petals. The Myrian lifted it to her face, inhaling a very faint scent. She picked a few more and held them together to concentrate their effect. It was pleasant, and not overbearing. She began tucking them into her hair, entwining their stem with her locks so that a bundle of flower bloomed from them.

The last one in her hand she studied, turning it over in her hands and holding up to the sunlight. She twirled it in her fingertips and after a moment, reached into the bag on her back, pulling a journal and piece of charcoal from it's depths. Her thin fingers flipped to an blank page, and she got comfortable on the ground, balancing her book on one leg, and resting the flower on the other. She began to sketch along its pages, trying to depict an accurate depiction of the flora, scratching out a few particularly brutally drawn results. She needed only a representation she would recognize, after all, this book was for her own eyes firstly. She messed up, and tried again at drawing the dark plant. She drew rounded circles that overlapped in hopes to create the petals, and began scratching in the darker areas of the drawing, leaving the center mostly untouched.

'Perhaps there is a woman in Riverfall who knows the name of this. If it has any uses.' she thought, sketching one more extremely rough one for good measure and writing a few quick facts. 'Purple, black, yellow' her handwriting was messy and in Myrian, 'Weak scent, pleasant, open grass land.' Kiva was careful, writing out the letters as neatly as she could, caught in her study when a murderous growl rose from the land around her.

Kiva's head snapped forward, and she listened. It sounded too far away to be directed at her... but there was something big that was being threatened. Another growl. She wasted no time. Snapping into action, Kiva shoved the charcoal back into her pack and threw the flower into the crease of her book and jumped to her feet. She looked out over the road, this time keeping low and crouching. Sounds of challenge reverberated around her, and it was by her own curiosity that drove her forward to see what formidable foes they belonged to. It reminded her of the Myrian tigers, a sound she missed from home, but also feared.

Keeping herself as hidden as possible, Kiva moved in the bushes and trees, careful not to disrupt too much as the sounds of fighting grew louder. She would be stupid to say reluctance didn't seep into her heart. She knew not of what she would be stumbling upon, so when she came into view of a flash of predators dueling. The scent of blood was in the air, and Kiva's eyes widened at what she saw. Two cats, one black and the other white, dueled relentlessly. Gashes were fresh, and she took a step back. Was this an omen? A message? Kiva had never seen cats like these and so she hid by some nearby foliage. While the cats were distracted, she looked up at the nearest tree and in hopes to do it before she could be noticed, Kiva jumped, grabbing onto a branch and with some effort, began to pull herself upwards.

Using her feet to kick up the trunk, she pulled herself into the branches and climbed higher for safety. If one of the lions came after her, well, she would need more than just a few feet in the air between them. She would need Myri's help and a lot of prayers to Navre. When Kiva felt she was at a safer distance in the tree tops, she looked down at the animals fighting ferociously, unsure what to do, but knowing damn well it wasn't getting involved. She silently began to bid who she thought would be the winner.

Further Vocalizations continued throughout the entirety of the lengthy battle. Skyard felt as if he perceived ticks to take eternities during the fight. He fought vigorously for his life, and he refused to stop unless his body completely gave out; Skyard had to survive this fight even if he’d been badly injured as a result of it. Skyard felt a bit more confident in himself the moment he sank his teeth into his opponents flesh. The sweet metallic taste of blood caressed Skyards tongue; he didn’t want to let go but he knew he’d have to eventually. Skyard unlatched his jaw from his opponents arm momentarily. Before he stepped backward and raised a paw; he aimed to slam it down atop his enemy’s cranium with full force. If the strike were to land upon his foes cranial structure it would’ve been fatal. The sharp talons of Skyards claws appeared to have closed the gap at first glance and made impact; however the Night Lion staggered backward a split-tick before it impacted him.

Skyard could only respect his opponent for being able to successfully avoid a blow like that. Suddenly the Night Lion reared backward and charged haphazardly. The injury didn’t seem to have any effect on him; adrenaline surged through both Lions bodies presently and the pain was temporarily suppressed. A swift paw rocketed toward Skyards chest, and impacted within the same tick that it’d been thrown. Gashes riddled Skyards visage and chest, four marks upon his visage and chest. However unlike the ones upon his snout; the gashes upon his chest were deep, and stained his once perfectly white coat blood red. Crimson fluid stained the ground beneath him, and appeared to be a small black pool of fluid forming beneath Skyard.

Skyard roared at the top of his lungs; so powerfully that even at a distance the sound would rattle eardrums. Skyard took a rather odd stance, and arched his back; whilst he observed his adversary. He brought his forepaws and hind paws closer together, which caused his cranial structure to lower and his neck to extend slightly. Skyard hadn’t known too much about positioning during combat until now; he realized that when battling another lion the neck was an exposed area. However the problem would be to make a successful strike in order to kill; Skyard spoke briefly in a series of growls and short lived roars.

“If I am to die here, then I will make sure that I take you with me” Skyard spoke before he launched himself forward into his opponent. The moment he’d spoken he knew that he was prepared to die, and no longer had any intention to live. Skyard knew that this battle might’ve contained his final moments; would he die gloriously and slay his opponent before he fell, or would he win the battle and live to fight another day?

Skyard knew that he wouldn’t ever wish to fall in battle against an opponent like this. Thoughts raced through his mind whilst his skull impacted that of his opponents own. He’d overextended himself rather swiftly, and the deafening sound of“cracking” was heard it’d almost sounded like the breaking of bones. The sound echoed through the forested area, and although the impact shook up his head and disoriented him; he continued. Skyard raised both his paws simultaneously, and he djed swirled upward from his legs into his torso. He used all of his might in order to force his opponent to the ground again.
Multiple roars continued along with incredibly loud snarls and growls as the battle carried out.

Teeth gnashed and Claws extended; Skyard sank the talons of his claws into his opponent’s shoulders before he proceeded to throw his cranium forth again. However, Skyards maw had noticeably been opened rather wide; His jaws clamped down upon the opponents neck. Clouds of dust formed from the sudden impact as dirt was kicked up in the process of all of the movement; which somewhat blocked the view of the battle. Skyard got a mouth full of disgusting tasting fur, and wanted to vomit; however in the heat of the moment he knew that he couldn’t.

Skyard didn’t know what to do, and he continued to tighten his jaws in hope to increase the amount of force behind the bite. Once more he tasted the sweetness of the opponents’ blood; before he swiftly realized that he’d failed. The Night Lion made use of the moment Skyard off-balanced himself by thwarting his equilibrium, and forced Skyard upward. Skyard still held onto the opponents neck with a vice grip while the Night lion proceeded to hammer away at Skyards exposed abdomen with sharp claws. Roars of pain and agony followed, and Skyard immediately realized that he might’ve lost. Even if he won the battle he knew he may die before he’d gotten far enough into the city to survive.

It was a ferocious battle. White and black, good and evil... although Kiva had yet to decide on which one was the stronger of the two. Morality was such a fickle thing, anyway. The two lions roared, and Kiva sat perched in her tree, holding her breath.

'Navre,' she prayed, 'Who will be your champion?'

More roars, more teeth and claws, and blood. More than once, Kiva anticipated the fall of one of the beasts, but they fought with such intensity. Neither would give up. Their eye contact was like static, the tension was high. One wouldn't be walking away from this fight, that she was sure of. But what Kiva didn't know... was... what made these creatures so mad at one another? Was it simply territory? Which one was out of place?

Kiva pondered the question. 'I do not know these lands, or the creatures that dwell here. Perhaps... the black one?' She watched the fight unflinching, familiar with the sight of blood. The white lion's teeth sunk deeply into it's opponent's shoulder, and Kiva knew it was a deep wound. The black one would be slowing, or so she guessed.

'No, the black one is from here. Is the white one diseased? Cast out from the land? How do these cats rank one another?' Her mind started creating a series of logically guesses, trying to figure out animal politics, but her attention was grabbed again by watching the white one clamp down on its enemy's neck. It was a devastating attack.

'Good,' Kiva wanted to say, but dared not speak a word, 'Smart move. Go for the kill.' Her brown eyes never left the two animals, but something in the fight shifted. The black lion struck out and it gave grave injuries to the white cat. Kiva's eyes widened, not expecting the move, and leaned forward in the branches, moving the few leaves remaining to the side. She suddenly felt like she was in a very bad place. Perhaps she should have stayed inside.

Skyard continued to hold his opponents wind-pipe within his jaws and refused to let go. He most certainly knew that he didn’t want to die and be disgraced like this. He would much rather die before he fell to an opponent like this. Pain flushed throughout his body, and sensory-overload begun to take its course. Skyard felt as if he watched the entire battle go on in slow motion, and his pupils dilated. He felt muscle spasms within his eye sockets, and knew that he would fall soon if the battle didn’t stop. He grew nauseated by the tick, and used the remaining strength he had in his body to thwart the enemies equilibrium once more. However this time the moment he’d done so he heard a loud snap.

Skyards enemy had fallen victim to the result of his improper stance; his right hind leg snapped at the joint and the shin bone erupted from the flesh. A blood curdling roar escaped from the black lions esophagus, and Skyard immediately loosed the grip upon his enemies throat. Skyard grew incredibly bloodthirsty, and knew that he didn’t want to stop there. He wanted to show absolutely no mercy to his enemy, to deliver the final blow. However he chose not to, and went with the much more painful approach. Skyard mercilessly waltzed over to the broken leg, and began to devour the flesh right on top of it. The roars of pain continued, as Skyard silently tortured his adversary; bite after perpetual bite.

The white Lion violently shook its head from left to right in an arc, in attempt to twist and tear the bone from the remainder of the limb. Skyard wanted to sever the entirety of his adversaries’ body, and didn’t at all hesitate to quite literally eat him alive. The blood-covered flesh carried with it an incredibly strong scent; it smelled of iron that had just been freshly worked. The stench filled the area as the flesh dangled from the bone, and vile sounds echoed throughout the area. Large chunks of flesh and bone flew from the body of his enemy, and Skyards entire visage had been covered with crimson fluid. Spouts of blood erupted from the leg, as Skyard continuously took several more bites out of his opponent.

He moved on from the leg that he’d just torn asunder and on to his opponents gut. Roars of absolute terror, pain and despair exited the night Lion’s esophagus. Skyard went on to tear the intestines right from the stomach of the beast, flesh covered his visage. The skin of the opposed lion looked as if it’d been slashed open with a massive cleaver, and it sloppily hung open. The incredibly sweet taste of blood flooded all of Skyards taste buds all at once; the more he consumed the madder he’d been driven. One who watched this would likely consider it to be absolutely disgusting.

Thoughts flooded the white Lions mind, and he felt as if he’d eaten the most amazing meal he’d had in several years. The taste was absolutely exquisite, and he enjoyed the tenderness of the meat; despite the fact that he had to ignore the night Lions roars. He’d never eaten anything alive before, and now that he had he wouldn’t stop until he’d filled his stomach with this “gourmet” meal. His ears rang due to how incredibly loud the sounds grew before finally silence fell. The area became so incredibly quiet that one could call it “scary”. Skyard however enjoyed it, and stripped nearly all of the meat from his opponents’ bones.

Skyard stood erect for a moment, and sat beside his now dead opponent. In order to honor his opponent he placed his massive paw atop the “Cranial” structure of the dead Lion. He inhaled briefly, and following the inhalation he roared at the top of his lungs. Skyard wouldn’t dare dishonor an opponent just because of the fact that he’d slain one. Skyard knew that if he were to be killed he would want to be commemorated in some fashion or another. Skyard quickly waltzed over to the aforementioned limb he’d torn completely off. He spoke briefly in his feline tongue in a series of growls.

“In the wake of my demise, may you still continue to live beyond this world. Should my legs ever fail me in battle, Wysar. I beg of you my lord, show me no mercy!” He spoke triumphantly before he picked up the limb, and waltzed toward the city.

Victory always comes at a price the loser has to pay.

More often than not... it is blood. The Myrian knew the outcome when she heard the terrible snapping of bone, a loud crack that resonated like a hiss, and the roars like rolling thunder. Kiva was tempted to look away, and it wasn't the gruesome display of dominance, the eating alive of the fallen foe, it was the demise of a mighty beast. Blood, sinew, bone... these things did not upset her like many other women. Watching the cat fall after such a fight... It reminded her of the Myrian tigers, of her home. And when a cat fell, it was a moment to mourn.

She thought briefly or Myri, the director of this battle. Then of Navre, the father of this creature, and of Dira, the scavenger. The white lion tore relentlessly into the tender flesh of his new meal, it's white fur stained a brilliant red. He ripped at the meat of the leg, and then of the stomach. Kiva watched patiently from her perch, pleased to not have been found yet. Soon, the white cat would finish his meal, and then there would be work to do.

The dead are means for opportunity.

When the white lion finished his meal, he placed a paw on the black one's skull, roaring. Kiva thought it peculiar. Did all of these strange cats do this? She leaned forward and watched as it began to walk off, wasting no time. She quickly licked her finger, and held it in the air, feeling if there was any wind. Little to none.

'Good.'

Being downwind from the winner and having her scent travel was risky, but perhaps there wouldn't be much of a breeze. The last thing she needed was for a predator to find her scavenging his kills. Her next move would take awhile. Wasting no time, Kiva scooted towards the thicker part of the branch beneath her, and started to lower herself downward, trying not to snag her pants too much.

"How impractical," she dared whisper in her native tongue, irritated for only the briefest of moments. It was getting cooler, however, and she wouldn't be able to last much longer in such clothing. It was going to make the upcoming season hard for her - hard to move, hard to fight in so many layers. But for now, she would be chilly if it meant movement. When closer to the ground, she allowed herself to fall, her leather sandals creating a small thud against the ground.

She made her way to the carcass, sliding her backpack off and pulling a wicked looking blade as black as the night lion's fur free. It was curved and dangerously sharp, wrapped in a cloth. When she had it in her hand, she circled the dead.

"Which part of you shall I take for myself?"

This was a mighty animal, strong, perfect camoflague in the darkness. There were so many possibilities for her craft, she wasn't sure which one to pursue. "Claws and teeth for power," she whispered, her eyes finding the spot where the stolen limb had been, "Leg bones for speed."

She lowered herself immediately going for a massive paw and feeling for any weak joints. She was unfamiliar with this animal's anatomy, but cats were cats, and they had those in her home land. The paw easily consumed her own hand and was heavy. She hefted it into her lap with some effort and began to feel where the claws retracted, and the knuckles of the beast.

"He has not died in vain, Navre. His power shall continue on," and so she began to saw, and cut through the joints. It was a messy butchering and she didn't have the best tool for the job. Still it made it through the cartilage fairly easily, using her the palm of her hand to slam against the flat side of her blade and crack the rest of the way through. Using her hands, she did not shy away from getting in there, twisting and turning the piece she wanted until the beast's knuckle broke completely free. She clutched a black claw the size of her finger, blood covering her hands and underneath her finger nails. She did this four more times, collecting a total of five claws. Once she found her rhythm, the work went fast, but her cuts remained jagged.

Her hands went with the blood, the chill in the air quickly started to make it hard to use them. Kiva's own joints felt like they were locking up and she flexed them, trying to warm them up. She started wrapping up the bloodied treasure, when she looked up to see an... animalGrass Bear in Riverfall fauna lore page. stumbling towards her.

It was smallish, the height of a hearty dog, and gave off cute little grumbles. It stumbled over to the dead cat, sniffing the air and making a small cry. Kiva stayed frozen in her spot, looking at the strange thing. "What are you?" she asked, cocking her head. It's fur was white and orange, striped like the Myrian tigers. Nothing in its body language looked threatening, but Kiva remained still, ready to attack if necessary. She slowly rose to her feet, putting away her claws and slung the backpack on.

Soon, another animal, the same size joined the first, and wandered over to where the other had started to eat. The two bumped into one another and started to fight, playfully, rising on their hind legs and tumbling over. Kiva grinned, careful to reach towards the lion's stomach and cut free a slab of meat and skin. She tossed it to the the striped animals. They both tried to eat it, tugging at it, and Kiva started to cut free another, when she heard a low growl of a call. It was loud, whatever it belonged to... massive. Kiva's head snapped up, head looking into the direction of the trees it had come from. She heard something large approaching, having caught the scent of blood.

A brief glimpse of a massive shadow approaching made her jump to her feet, and it was then she connected the dots. "You're babies." she muttered, fear seeping into her chest. The mother was coming, and she was big.

Kiva knew the protectiveness of a mother over her children, and she took a step back. She quickly calculated the odds - She didn't know what this new animal was, she only had a blade and wasn't dressed properly. This was a fight for another day. Kiva cursed under her breath. She'd have to leave the other bones.

The mother was growing closer, and would be emerging from the trees soon. Kiva gave a silent goodbye to the cubs, using her long legs to propel her as fast as she could towards the city gates before she could be seen. She didn't even think about the large cat that had already headed this way...

Skyard, PM me when you've deducted your Winter Expenses from your Ledger and I'll get you graded, too!

Skyard, I liked the tone of this scrap. I think you captured well the animalistic intensity of two big cats duking it out, and it's the first of it's kind of read on here! It was all brutal and fast and merciless, but you still kept in enough conscious thoughts to think tactically... and y'gotta love the whole "feasting on the defeated" angle.

Kiva... meh, you don't need any critique, I think. This was all good and kudos on swooping down like a canny Myrian on the remains! I liked how you worked the gods into this as well, especially this "Holy Trinity" of Myri, Navre and Dira. Very cool...

Oh, and please make sure you go back and edit your post in the Request Thread to reflect the fact this one is now done and dusted. PM me with any questions and later 'tater!
