56th of Winter - A day in which love at first sight is not optional.

Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

5th Bell

The fog was thicker than he imagined, and way colder. Wikus could barely see a few feet away, the poor light not helping at all. The dampness of the fog had already soaked his flesh and would soak his pants if he refused to find refuge, his bones aching and complaining as they rattled in cold, lightning running up and down his spine repeatedly. The main street itself had become unknown to his steps, many times having ended reaching a wall or a door when he pretended to follow the snowy road. The waterfall that characterized the city was still frozen, and so the silence was almost absolute except for his bare feet and their moist striding. It was too early to find any activity, only the isolated sounds of someone’s activity reverbing through the empty city. A few voices talked in the distance, a horse whined, and a dog barked, yet their location was a mystery. Like a ghost wandering through the fog, his early rise to enjoy the private morning was almost perfect. Now that he had decided to attempt to fit in better with the crowds and he purchased clothes proper of the season, he felt the urge to not let go of his true attire and nature. Early in the morning was the only moment to enjoy lonesomeness and feel his skin exposed to the elements without attracting attention. Later on, once the fog cleared, he’d drape himself in thick fabrics and try to be just one citizen of the city. There were a few bells to enjoy himself.

Wikus wasn’t going towards a particular destination, but instead he simply let his feet carry him onward. The time spent sleeping between high stone walls had submerged him in longing for the wilderness, even if being out there by himself was a curse. The wilderness couldn’t offer any company whatsoever, yet strangely it did offer a sense of security he lacked whenever he stepped through the gates of a civilized hub. Riverfall being no different from any other place, he was always in wait of seeing the torches and pitch forks outside his window, hearing the mobs take over the stillness of the night, and once again having to escape in order to save his life. The chases and trouble were problems he had long ago assumed were planned for him, and his only task was to keep moving and never leave a trace of his presence. Most of the times, this included not letting anyone get close enough to the truth behind his façade. Wikus’ hand rose to sweep away the condensed water from his forehead, giving a small stroke of his beard afterwards to unsurprisingly find it wet. Unfortunately, the fog wouldn’t substitute a bath, which was a real shame in his opinion. Even so, when no danger was present, he’d always follow his whims. It was his only reward to himself.

His feet ached intensely as they kept stepping on the snow, the cold being unbearable and unnatural, yet his worry was none. He wouldn’t get sick, he wouldn’t cough nor would he spend a day in bed. Of course, that would be irrelevant if he froze to death, which is why he bothered to keep a somewhat fast pace. His eyes were fixed on the white surface, trying to not accidentally follow a path taken by whoever came before him. Looking around, he found no trace of walls or buildings. Looking behind, he found only the footsteps his feet had made. And ahead there was only fog. It was somewhat amusing to find his footsteps were the only ones to lack a boot heel, and instead displayed clear toes on the snow. Winter was always a challenge as his love for flowers was paralyzed until spring came, and his mind retreated furthermore onto constant self-analysis or impossible fantasies he invented to pass the time. Even time froze in winter. The ticks sometimes stretched into chimes, chimes into bells, bells into whole days. Now that he thought about it, winter is the season he was supposedly born. Lacking a precise date or even the mathematical knowledge to calculate his own age was somewhat bitter, but it was enough to convince him that for yet another year he had managed to stay alive. Today he should do something special for himself, perhaps trying to buy himself some flowers if he found someone capable of cultivating them. Perhaps skip work and go on outside the walls for a long walk, get away from everything-----

Wikus’ thoughts were interrupted as he lost his balance, his pondering having accidentally conducted his feet towards a rope that easily knocked him down. Said rope, if under normal circumstanced wouldn’t have tripped him, but the cold was so intense it had become completely solid. Landing face-first onto the snow, his panicked yell was interrupted and instead suffocated on the snow. His flesh was, ironically, burned by the cold touch of the snow, reason why he bolted up straight as quickly as he could. Before him, he spotted a few bushes, empty of leaves and instead only being a mess of twigs. He knew where he was now. The rope was there to avoid people like him from stealing plants or stepping on the rich vegetation present every other season, and the bushes were usually full of colored flowers he had stolen mercilessly the past fall. Semele’s Park was very different in winter that he remembered. Gazing down at the crash site, the impact zone was tainted black by the ink his face had automatically segregated. Ashamed of his clumsiness, he’d leave it there as he only wished to escape, afraid someone had seen him fall like that and instead returning back into the path and wander into the park.

56th of Winter, 515 A.V
Riverfall Streets/Semele Park

Kiva's eyes snapped open before the sun awoke, and she rose with purpose. It was training day. Snatching her clothes up from their folded pile, she shivered in the cold room, her movements slowing as she struggled to pull on her pants, and new new boots. She resented the constriction of her feet, but she hated the cold more. The new leather made her feet feel heavy, but if an enemy came her way, it would make for a fine advantage when kicking them in the face. She tugged on the rest of her clothes - linen shirt, wool jacket, scarf, gloves - and threw up her hair half-haphazardly. No point in bothering too much with it. She needed to run, to fight, to do something. She felt stagnant, a feeling Kiva so very much hated and planned to change.

Dressed and ready to go, she grabbed her bag and made it into the frozen morning. It was still very dark, hardly a soul awake. 'Good. No distractions.' She took a deep breath and took a moment to stretch, bending her leg back and grabbing her ankle. She pulled upwards, feeling her the warmth of tension in her muscles and held the position. She mentally counted to 30, releasing and doing the same for the other. She jumped up and down a few times, warming up, and then started to run.

The icy air quickly flushed her cheeks, and she felt her body slow to wake up. Her muscles protested, but she didn't feel anything pull, so she kept running. It was difficult. While in Taloba, the air was so humid, you felt like you were breathing water, here, it was so cold and dry, it almost hurt.

She made her way down the streets, taking turns and admiring the view. She briefly wondered what Riverfall must have looked like in warmer seasons, admitting maybe it would be beautiful. As her long legs lead her around the city, Kiva kept her pace even, not even noticing the opening door she ran past. She was growing tired, her body no longer cold and a light sweat threatening to build.

Behind her, someone yelled and she heard footsteps pursuing her. She nearly looked over her shoulder to look, but instead yelled back, "Stop chasing me, deyhan!"

The deep voice behind her was quick to respond, "But... I think I love you!"

'What the?' Had Kiva not been running, she would have laughed. It was easy to tell that whoever was after was one of these blue men. Kiva sped up her pace, ignoring the pain building in her side now. He really refused to give up? Kiva took this as challenge, using her slighter frame to take a last minute turn, now pushing herself to full speed. She weaved down every corner she could, slowing when the footsteps behind her faded. Kiva only hoped this Akalak had given up, or that the streets would fill to cover any footsteps.

Kiva held her side, visible puffs of air rushing from her lips. She was breathing heavily, and yanked off her scarf, now hot. She stumbled forward, jogging for a minute as she looked around and then slowed to a walk. "Shurak..."

Wherever she was looked to have been full of vegetation at one point. Bare bushes and trees were covered in ice, creating a winter wonderland. She wandered further, hoping her pursuer would have gotten too cold, and decided to turn back when he could not find her. The Myrian moved deeper into the park, raising an eyebrow when she looked down at a very strange set of footprints in the snow. Unlike her own that she was producing, heavy booted ones, these were.. human feet.

"Is someone barefoot?" she whispered in disbelief. Kiva began following them, looking around for signs of who had produced them. Nothing. Placing her own foot next to the prints, she compared sizes. Not many women in these lands had large feet, in fact, all of them were much smaller than herself. 'These belonged to a man,' she reasoned.

She carefully moved forward, the prints leading her to a large... black spot in the snow. Like a messy splatter of darkness. "What?" Was today to be filled with strange occurrences? Crouching, she tugged off a glove and cautiously dipped her finger into the substance. It wasn't thick or goopy, and she rubbed her fingers together. "What is this?"

She had never seen anything like this on the ground. The snow around was disturbed greatly as if whoever had left the footprints laid down. Had he dropped something? She lifted her hand and smelled it. It smelled faintly of something Kiva recognized, but the memory was fuzzy. A brief flash of her time spent in Black Rock flashed in her mind.

"Is this ink?" she blurted, cleaning her hands with the snow and quickly replacing her glove. She looked ahead, continuing to follow the footsteps. What else could she do? Might as well solve mystery before dealing with the next.

Following the path was a good idea, as the lack of trails or prints reassured the whimsy man’s steps. The cold was starting to be unbearable, still being an ignorant of his resistance’s threshold for said element, this being the first winter to finally ditch shoes and thick layers of clothes and finally coming out as pure as he could. If only the populace were to disappear, he’d not even bother to wear the thin fabrics he used to conceal his pelvis. Memories assaulted him of his Drykas days, in which he freely walked about stark naked and none looked at him – it was natural. Here, he had had worse experiences. The fear of becoming just as tight-minded as those around him was enough to fuel his morning expeditions. The scenery before him was simply astonishing, no other words coming to him. The Sea of Grass was not named by a whim, trees and forests being rare and the very few existent having been left alone by the man. Now, as he advanced through the trees that seemingly bled ice and flowers made of snow bloomed before his eyes, he could only witness the miraculous wonder he felt. How many other beautiful scenarios he had missed he didn’t know, and for now that mattered not.

Inhaling the occasional gust of cold air submerged him in a chaste serenity, something he enjoyed whenever he walked about without direction with his mind as only company. Eventually he properly reached the park, a large square with a frozen fountain awaiting at its core for the spring to come until its waters flowed again. Benches covered in snow stood just before the limits of the esplanade, the frozen rope still serving as a limit for those like him that liked to fidget with what wasn’t his. Closing his eyes once more, he inhaled deeply once again, enjoying the moment even if his features did not show any of said joy. Senseless philosophies began forming in his mind, absorbed completely in the moment, feeling the peace------

A sound. A very particular sound reached his ears. The sound of a female’s giggle, echoing through the frozen paradise and ruining whatever glimpse of a good mood Wikus could have achieved. His poor observation skills sometimes shined just like this very instant, when he finally cared to inspect the vicinity for any signs of life that wasn’t his. There was indeed someone, a brown blanket very clearly standing out from the otherwise white ambient. Said blanket covered whomever laid beneath completely, some wiggles and giggles being seen and heard coming from beneath. Then, came a moan that inevitably revealed what was happening beneath said blanket. Wikus couldn’t believe it. ‘Right here in the park!?’ he thought, blatantly speechless of the outrageous lack of respect shown by whomever lied beneath the wiggling blanket. Sex was nothing he felt offended about, but the interruption of his morning’s stroll and his meditation was unforgivable. With a set mind, he decided to finally approach the blanket.

Now, Wikus was certainly not a pervert nor a sexual predator as it might have appeared to whomever saw him, standing right before the bench and simply staring down into the brown fabric that covered the imaginable act happening beneath. He simply lacked the knowledge of what to actually do to interrupt their activity in a way that would be as annoying as their interruption of his. The result was clearly disturbing, something the female’s eyes could witness as her head broke free of the blanket’s reign, and her eyes laid on the half-naked giant whom stared with eyes the size of plates. Blue plates, for that matter. So it wasn’t such a big surprised when she with all her strength shrieked, panicking at the sudden appearance of the creep and quickly slapping her partner’s head to protect her. There were very quick movements going on beneath the blanket, the young adults covering themselves with the previously removed clothes. Thankfully for them, the cold did not allow them to be fully nude even if their blanket was ten times thicker.

But the man was no longer annoyed. He could qualify as panicking or startled, as once he stared into the screaming features he felt something bloom inside of him. A sensation as strong as a thousand parks and their thousand trees, their thousands of thousands snowflakes, something that invaded him and filled him with eternal joy. There were no words able to describe the sudden mending of his body and mind, whatever pain felt throughout his life being undone in an instant ,whatever broken inside him repaired by the blacksmith that were those two eyes that stared in pure horror. Her eyes compared to two suns that guided his steps throughout the rest of his days, two moons that offered some light in the darkest of nights. Two globes that merged into a new world his own eyes could carry on exploring forever if she’d let him, full of exiting discoveries and free of any fears – a paradise made exclusively for him to retreat whenever the world around threatened his existence. Having been searching for such meaning throughout his entire life, it was now that he had finally found the reason why his knees suddenly felt weak, and the only thing he wished is to simply lay beside her and bury himself in her bosom until he no longer struggled to keep breathing the harsh air of this putrid world.

It would be so if the male that hid beneath the blanket didn’t show up, angry and unpleased with the interruption which he made Wikus pay with a strong shove as he still laid on top of the female. “What is wrong with you!?” Would yell the infuriated man, offering a second shove given that the first didn’t seem very effective on the confused man. Soon, the harshness of reality hit Wikus with the same force his sudden enchantment for the greasy-haired female’s eyes. That harshness could only be the realization that it wasn’t him the one to lay on the woman’s bosom, but it was this simpleton the one to be rejoicing on her divinity. It wasn’t him the one to lose himself in the infinite abyss her eyes offered, but it would be this man whom would struggle to find his way back into the world. The enchantment was over, now only pure fury and hatred breaking whatever the female’s eyes had fixed. Crazed, he’d reach out to the male’s hair, and with all his fury he’d pull him out of that bench. The woman continued shrieking, but Wikus offered no pity for the usurper of his kingdom. He dragged him a dozen feet away even if the male struggled, and with all his harshness he’d spite the man’s face with a bare fist. Once the man’s mouth began bleeding, he let go of him before returning to the female he deserved, bringing her the man she deserved, and began his courtship with a deep blush and a mouthful of ink that quickly made him forget about the beating given to the simpleton.

occI loved it. xD "The usurper of his kingdom". Fantastic stuff.

Screaming.

A shrill voice was shattering through the cold air, something that seemed so out of place in this peaceful city. Kiva had to know why. She picked up her pace, running and following the bare footsteps with fervor. But the scene she came to...well, it wasn't quite what she was expecting. At all. A man was being attacked, a... very.. beautiful man.

Kiva took a step back, feeling weak. A smile split across her lips, that is, until the horrible banshee's crying didn't cease to stop. Kiva's dark eyes flashed to the woman screaming, and at the bearded man who was trying to cheer her up. Or, at least... that's sorta what it looked like. Running to her beloved, Kiva's chest felt like a thousand birds of paradise fluttered in her rib cage, so filled with longing she'd thought she'd burst.

Quickly, the dark haired savage made her way to where her beloved sat. Wait. Was he bleeding? Kiva lowered herself in front of him, whispering in Myrian, "Are you hurt? Let me see. Who did this to you?" She reached out to take his face in her hands. His wonderful face, with his deep set eyes and the strong jaw of a warrior.

His reaction was disappointing. He jerked away, wide eyed and confused, jumping to his feet. "I don't even know you! Don't touch me!" He looked past her, then, at the other woman, motioning for her instead. Kiva felt something very akin to being stabbed in that moment, and froze instantly. Her hands dropped as the man began to scramble and collect himself, the woman on the bench apparently freaked about by her own suitor. She called out to her lover, and tried to run to him, but when Kiva heard her approaching footsteps, something in her snapped.

A blazing fury, crackling and growing with every footstep she took, Kiva's rage grew. Why would he want this woman over her? Just as her competitor approached, Kiva spun around and gave off a warning that needed no translation. A long, guttural growl and a snarl that showed her teeth. In that moment, she lived up to the expectation of her race - animalistic savage.

The meaning was clear: 'Stay back or I'll slaughter you.'

The woman jerked back in fear, staring in the dark eyes of this foreign woman. Kiva's body language was territorial, jealous. This man was hers. Unfortunately... the man didn't seem to think so. Responding to her growl, he used Kiva's directed attention against her. Shoving the Myrian full force, she barely caught herself from smacking into the ground, and the couple used the moment as a chance to start sprinting away.

Had he... hit her? Because she defended him? A roller coaster of emotions - joy, worry, pain, hate, confusion. What was this? When Kiva looked over her shoulder, she watched the one man she felt connected to, perhaps all her life, run away from her, hand in hand with another woman. She wasn't sure what to do, and so she sat, speechless in the snow.

“You are my woman now.” Those were the words Wikus said to the female, almost teary from the discovery of his life. His rage had subsided as he stared into those brown eyes, her lazy eye apparently looking somewhere in the future they were to share after his brief but apparently effective courtship. Her hand didn’t reach out to stroke his features as he imagined, but instead she delivered not once, not twice and not even thrice the harsh slap, but instead a record of twenty times when she learned how to craft a powerful combo with the help of her other hand. He would have liked to approach her to deliver a soft kiss on her forehead while his nose sniffed the greasy hair whose smell would remind him of all the putrid meals he had consumed throughout his life before finding her, yet her slapping drove his rear onto the cold snow. Disarmed, he could only watch what she did next, paralyzed by rejection.

It was in that instant he realized that that lazy eye wasn’t looking into the future, but instead would forever look for the boy he had just punished for stealing her love like an arrow looks for a life to claim. Wikus looked back at the male, a weakling compared to the stud the woman had just rejected. What was so special about that boy that overpowered all the love Wikus could give her? A new female had arrived, standing before the weakling Wikus had clearly defeated. The envy manifested in his fists as they clenched, looking at how two females wished to claim that boy instead of him. The freshly arrived female wasn’t half as beautiful as the woman he lusted for, yet she too eagerly fought for that male, even daring to growl at her competition. That competition wasn’t someone ordinary, thought Wikus, as he began crawling through the snow to reach his love’s foot which sadly moved before he could lay a finger on it. And then, just as quickly as she had come into his life, she left with another man’s hand in her own. And as they ran away by the hands of their wrong matches, Wikus’ mind broke as hard as his heart did.

Slamming his fists against the snow repeatedly, yelling his lungs out to release some of the increasing rage within him, he began plotting the way he’d strangle that boy and the way his dead body would be dropped from the city’s cliffs. The usual serene, timid, and extremely reserved man was no longer, not after finding a true objective in his life, instead his fists once again gaining the confidence formerly owned and the will to fight proper of the man he had once become. Once he felt fit to moderately control his rage, he’d direct his crazed gaze towards the rejected female. Considering her death by his hands was quickly discarded, as he needed to chase after his love as soon as possible. Jumping up to his feet and spitting some of the ink from his black mouth, he’d take a handful of snow and quickly compress it into a ball he then hurled with all his strength towards the female’s face. If it connected or not wasn’t his worry as instead he quickly ran in the same the direction his love and her snatcher had taken. If that female was really after that boy, she’d prove to be an annoyance for the murder Wikus wished to commit. Even his legs were full of strength as they ran, no matter how much they suffered the bone-shattering cold of the snowy morning.

Running as fast as he could, something he hadn’t done in a long while, it quickly proved to be futile as his eyes had lost contact with the fugitive couple, and his feet began doubting which of the infinite paths he had to take. Even if only in motion for a chime, he was already breathless and heaving loudly as he lowered his stance for his eyes to inspect the snow in search of any trails of the beautiful footprints his love must have surely left with her short legs.

He had to find her, or he would lose himself instead.

It was the cold that pulled Kiva out of her heart broken stupor. And the screaming idiot next to her. Melted snow soaked through her stockings, and with clenched fists she rose to her feet. The Myrian snapped her eyes to the side, watching as the stranger erupted in a mass fury. He slammed his fists into the ground, something she had almost done herself, and screamed with blood curdling pain. Kiva's own heart felt as if it had been ripped out of her chest cavity while a Dhani spat in her face. She felt shame. Loss. Some kind of irreversible tragedy.

Did this man know what he was passing on? Did he see the beast he had ran off with? The world would be better off without such a... horrid creature. But that could be remedied... Of course, her own love would have to realize the error of his ways. Perhaps Kiva could woo him... Or-

The crazy man ran off with a look on his face Kiva had seen since birth. A man with the intention to kill. A war face. And judging by his reaction and own pain, it wasn't to murder the cheating hag bitch he liked to claim, "Shyke."

He was going to try and kill the love of her life. Kiva shot into action, bolting right behind the bearded male. Teeth gritted, she pumped her legs with all her might, there being no better fuel than protecting something you love. Kiva slowed only momentarily to scoop some snow from the frosty ground and try to chuck it at the man's back.

'He's barefoot in this? How is he moving so fast? Kotakbil!'
, she mentally cursed.

Puffs of fast air shot from her lips, and Kiva desperately willed for Myri's gnosis to grant her some much needed speed. Gritting her teeth, she charged like a tskanna after the man and when she was close, ruthlessly launched herself at him. Like a tiger attacking its prey, she craved for the tackle.

"You will not touch him," she growled, "If you want your lover, strike a deal with me!"

Like an unaware hare, Wikus fell quickly in the paws of the furious tigress. His light equipment had allowed him to escape, but only temporarily as now his face buried in the somewhat compact snow. His flesh immediately burned under the severe cold, the crystalized texture lightly scarring his pale features. The sudden impact and the scare of it all somewhat maimed his anger and instead submersed him into a light state of confusion. Thankfully, the cold that rattled his bones managed to bring some fighting spirit into the man. “No…” he’d moan, head coming out of the snow to gaze onward towards the nothingness ahead, desperately trying to see the frame of his other half which unfortunately his eyes couldn’t find. Looking back towards his aggressor, it was only fair that it was the female he himself had tried to slow down.

“Get off, woman!” he’d say, not a reply for her proposal but instead his own whimsical reason: to remain chaste contact least it was his other half the one to caress his being. This female was tainting him with her touch, and being immobilized underneath him only made him feel dirty and impure. For a moment, he thought about striking her by any means necessary, be it flinging his fists back or trying to roll sideways to remove her from his back. This once, however, he felt the need to listen. He knew that his experience with women limited to him taking them like an animal, and never before had he felt a connection with anyone of the opposing sex. The tigress that stood on his back was a woman, obviously, and therefore surely knew the way to properly meet the needs of a partner.

On the other hand, she too seemed to be eager to cause damage to somebody, surely trying to conquer that fleeing beauty he too chased sentimentally. He wouldn’t allow that, for that untamed beast only belonged to a man like him. Conflicted, the immediate objective was to escape the snow. “Get off.” He’d mutter, as he tried to calmly stand up from the cold texture. In order to fuel her confidence in letting him go, he’d raise a hand up in the air in order to state how he yielded – at least, from running away. Whether she allowed him to stand or now, he would inevitable query her. “I do not want to irk you, understand?”

The ink in his mouth was annoyingly bitter, something he had to remove by ingesting some snow. Normally, this was completely forbidden, especially since they could cause severe burns on one’s mouth, yet swallowing the ink was surely worse. Making sure to only place a small amount of the snow within his mouth, he’d move it around in order to cleanse his palate and spit out the remains – which were as black and disgusting as one could expect.

The man struggled beneath her and she snarled, grabbing at any limb she could and shoving it back down in the cold snow. He was visibly upset, frustrated and Kiva prepared herself for the encounter to come to blows if need be. Instead, he ordered her to release him, which she didn't. Not at first anyway. After another order and a sign of submission, the tan woman glared at him in warning and pulled back from where she had been straddling him. He rose to his feet and Kiva joined him, ready to pounce again, and half expecting it.

“I do not want to irk you, understand?”

Kiva raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms defensively. 'Then maybe you're smarter that you look.' "Good." she said sharply, irritated that not only had her love chose a she-beast over her, but that melted snow was trying to sneak its way to her skin. And this man... this... bearded savage preferred the woman as well. Were all these men blind? She was Myrian. Was that not already the best reason?

The female eyed the man, studying him. He was even taller than herself, something she still was not familiar with. Men in Taloba were shorter. It wasn't often she felt... well, small. He looked a bit dirty, but there was... a healthiness to him? A vibrancy? An attractiveness?

Dark gunk shot from his mouth and Kiva took a step back, eyes widening in disgust as she watched this man spit a heavy black. It left a splatter on the disheveled snow and she raised her own hand to look at the stain she had on her fingertips from her earlier tracking. Ink? Did he just spit ink? Or was he sick? Dying? A poison crafted that rotted his insides?

'No,' Whatever brief trance that had remotely given her cause to think this... disgusting man was even remotely handsome was squashed. Her love was the only one she had eyes for. To think anyone else compared was a vast disillusion.

"I can track," she offered cautiously, eyes still focused on the spot in the snow, "We find them. We have them choose us." It was a rough plan in simple words. Honestly, she had only thought to stop this man from his fury. Everything else would have to be made up on the spot.

She pointed to him, "Name?"

There was a brief instant in which both wretched inspected each other. Two humans bereft of their halves, ploys and ruses being exchanged with only their unsatisfied gazes. The female before him was one of those tan women that he had started seeing around the city, thought Wikus. She was shorter than him as he would have expected, yet clearly far more confident in her skills. Her figure emanated self-security and power, to the point of almost becoming arrogance in the eyes of the weak. Despite her clothing, he could tell that she had been blessed with good genetics for child-bearing, something he would have taken into account if he was to mount her one day. Of course, he wouldn’t. Only his cross-eyes love with her perfume composed of countless accumulated sweats could ever provide for a womb he wished to fertilize.

Using a hand to remove the chunks of snow from his light clothing, he already dreamt of reaching his room in order to retrieve proper clothing. It was obvious his morning escapade had been in vain, as he had only found conflict instead of some glimpse of peace. He lacked the resources to deal with the situation at hand, conflicted if whether to attempt to ditch this woman and continue on his quest on his own, or instead await for her surely foolish thoughts and ideas. Women were never good warriors nor good leaders, something he had learned in his years riding across the endless green. They usually died first, or were mentally scarred after their dose of battles. They also were impregnated soon enough, so they were permanently taken out of the picture. This female was surely no different, Wikus having little hope in whatever she had to say.

Surprisingly, she proved once again she was different once her deliberate proposition came through. For the first time in a long while, he felt a smirk breaking out of his lips even if the beard hid most of it. The plan was perfect – not in the steps to take, but in the careful use of words she had chosen and the tone used. ‘We find them’ meant hunt them, ‘have them choose us’ meant making them choose us. Even he, a boor that failed in the language could capture the meaning, and that made him extremely joyful. His anger could finally fit in someplace, or at least not feel alone as the female before him surely had a terrifying anger buried in herself as well. A new-found admiration was found for the female in that instant, even if her words didn’t quite exactly match Wikus’ reasoning. Offering a nod, his distrust over the female faded very quickly.

“Ponch—“ He began, taken aback several years in his past by the burning intensity of his confidence that had spawned thanks to the female. Shaking his head, he’d attempt once more. “Wikus.” Raising a hand up to his hair, he’d remove the small piece of cloth that held his top-knot together, thus letting his golden hairs fall out to the winds. “You track and I follow, woman.” With the same hand, he’d concentrate his flesh on letting the ink slowly secrete through his pores as he ran said hand down his hair, effectively dying his hair in a glossy black hue. After some sweeps and making sure most of his hair was tainted, he’d leave it slicked back before moving on to the beard. The couple would recognize him otherwise, and his precious one would apparently be fearful just like she was chimes ago. Disposing of the excess of ink by flailing his hand against the snow, he’d try to get most of it off his flesh in order to avoid exposing himself to the pain of absorption. “We make them choose us.”

He accepted.

The woman smirked, nodding. 'Understood,' It wasn't that she was pleased with the tone he used with her, but she surely wasn't offended by being called a woman. They were, after all, the stronger gender. In fact, Kiva was pleased that she had successfully stopped another from killing her mate... or.. future mate. Such an action would no doubt call for bloodshed.

Her love's shove had seemed odd, given how obviously compatible they were and having someone else to relieve her of the burden of a squealing bitch was fine with her. The Myrian paused when he introduced himself, but made no comment at the start of another name. They were now a team, but not friends. She hd no need to know. There was a silent understanding, as she offered her own, "Kiva."

Her dark eyes washed over him, taking in his newly died hair. It glistened from the wet ink, the dampness just giving him a rather... greasy appearance. She had to admit that he did look different. His eyes popped more, and if it was possible he had more of a haunting appearance.

How did he do it, though? Kiva stared at his hand, confused. "What are you?" Kiva muttered in Myrian, tugging at the scarf around her neck and untucking it from the collar of her coat. Her disguise would be much less elaborate without assistance. She would have to think of something more later, but settled for crafting a hood from her scarf. She tied it together to create a large loop, wrapping it once around her neck and fanning it out around her head the second time, using it to cover her hair and shroud her features. Quickly and without thinking she shot out and grabbed Wikus' hand, letting it go just as fast. Ink blackened her palm, and she smelled it cautiously.
Then, without apology, she rubbed her first two fingers together and pinched her eyes closed, running them along her lids to create a smudged mask. War paint. Under her eyes and to her brow, black was smeared. Her right hand trailed down her cheek, taking black ink with it. When she opened her eyes to look at the man she stole it from, she shrugged and immediately went to work, following the only set of footprints leaving the park.

She moved quickly, feigning expertise. In retrospect, she was no tracking master. Far from it. But these prints were fresh and few variables hindered her. Kiva moved with a purpose, keeping a brisk pace.

"They won't go far," she lied, not quite sure why she said it. She kept her eyes cast on the ground, a hunter with prey in mind. Few times did she look up to see their surroundings, noting when they left the park and headed into Riverfall's streets. Morning was coming fast, and a few more Akalak had trickled from their homes, on their way to work or train. What struck her as most odd, was not that she was tracking a complete stranger to convince him to love her, nor that the man she had chosen to help her could secrete ink from his skin like a demented painter, but instead how much the air smelled like sex.

The lust was thick, like a soiled blanket over the city. Men were kissing other men, blue skin on purple. Kiva had to stop her tracking at the sound of a repetitive pounding and grunts coming from an alleyway.

For such a clean city, its thoughts were dirty.

The few women in the city were starting to wake, and surely the neighbors would hear it. Kiva's cheeks flushed, less so at the open orgies in the streets, more so from the thought that it could be her and her love, but the thought quickly died. That had been her love... but he had been doing such acts with another. A fiery anger flared within her, and thankful for her new face covering, shoved through a rather desperate couple pawing at one another. They cursed her and she cursed back in her native tongue, creating a chopping motion towards her groin - a rather crude expression in her culture.

Kiva's anger radiated from her, dying down the more blocks they walked. She had to pause a few times, to make sure she was following the correct set of prints, but their chase lead them outside a tall door. Above it was a sign, indicating it a tavern or bar. The young woman lifted her face to look under her hood and at the human next to her. Wikus.

'Well,' she thought, wanting to get away from the all the Akalak having sex, 'Do you want to go in first, or shall I?'

OOCI included some visual aids because I'm not sure if my writing does my thoughts justice. lol Hope you don't mind.
