Untangling from Eosi felt so wrong, and a large part of him regretted it badly, urging him to return to that world where he belonged, where he needed nothing she couldn’t provide by just breathing. It was just the amount of horrific things Leo had seen in his life, many of which were treacherous and attacked from behind, that pushed him to seek safety for them first. Leo Zaital was a target worth a king’s ransom, painted red with blood; by extension, so was Eosi. They needed to be safe - no, there was no such thing as safe, only safer. Then they would have the world to themselves.

”This is the wilderness, love. Everything’s hungry out here. Myself included.” Leo cleared his throat, stealing a glance from his lover who appeared frustrated but all in all quite understanding. Eosi remained mysterious to him in many ways, often more willing to talk with her body than with actual words. It was a language she spoke with fluency, always giving, always uninhibited. If he wanted anything, she was more than willing to offer it all and then some more. The net effect could be nothing but addiction, pure and simple. At times, Leo honestly wondered what she saw in him. There was one gnawing doubt he would never admit to, but that he secretly nurtured… not today, though. Today was strictly reserved for good times.

”So, let’s get this over with,” he mumbled, rummaging through Ember’s bags. The larger part of their equipment was with Eosi (one more reason she’d ended up losing the race), but Leo had a few pieces of interest. He produced a pouch and pulled out a series of long wooden pegs, almost spike-like. The heads had been carved, or so it seemed, into the appearance of skulls. Just the typical thing you’d expect in Leo’s inventory. ”So, these can protect a campsite. They worked for me in Kalea, at the very least.” Kneeling down on the grass, he proceeded to bury the first peg so that only the skull was showing. When the deed was done, he moved on to the next, staking out the location of their camp.

The activity cleared his mind just a little. ”There’s a story behind these.” He was far from sure Eosi wanted to hear a story - it may very well be the last thing on her mind - so he tried to keep it short and sweet. ”They were a gift I got in Syliras just before leaving for Wind Reach.” He had no idea if he was allowed to tell Eosi about the Windoak despite being sworn to secrecy. With Sylir finally reborn, the tree was no longer a single point of failure for the forces of good, and if there was one righteous woman left in the world it would be the one standing beside him.

Leo placed the last peg and rose to his full height. Hopefully Eosi had been taking care of some unpacking, as well; being proactive was one of her many virtues, after all. He reviewed the layout, making sure no two stakes were too far apart, and considered himself satisfied on that count. ”That seems spacious enough for us not to roll out of the perimeter.” His eyes twinkled for a moment as the image of Eosi, naked in the grass, seemed too vivid in his mind and he knew he would have to make it real. ”I think.” He approached her in slow, measured steps, his intent obvious in his gaze. His breathing clearly audible. He needed her more than he could ever admit. He loved her as much as Leo Zaital would ever love anyone, and while some would contend he was just a killer with the blood of thousands on his hands, he was not without burning love for those who could dig deep into him. He wondered if that would always be enough for Eosi - if he would always be enough for her.

Today, however, it would be just the three of them. Him, her, and the grass.

The moment he began to secure the perimeter, she was already loosing the saddlebags. It was with reluctance that she allowed their parting but the sooner they made camp, the sooner they could resume what it was that they were doing. Plus, there was plenty to be done before sunset. He was right to point out where they were.

She listened with interest at the mention of a story. Leo wasn't particularly volunteering with everyone and Eosi loved every part of him distraction, including his stories.

"I'd love to hear, if you're of a mind to tell it sometime." Her reply was measured, careful not to sound too eager. When they were together it sometimes she felt like a kettle boiling over, shrieking in delight. Eosi bit her lip, working the latches to their baggage and pulling out the canvas sheets of their tent. Little progress was made, though she did manage to at least get the process started. It wasn't long before he too finished with his task. Suddenly she was faced with an insatiable Leo Zaital.

"We'll just have to see, won't we?" She replied and she could feel her inner temperature rising. He made it a few more steps before she sprang to meet him, desperate for his touch. Her ardor was difficult to contain. Their bodies met and the contact filled some vague place inside of her, some nebulous void in her heart that she'd just barely understood before. She paused to stare at the man she loved, to commit every detail to memory. The expression just came so thoughtlessly, unbidden:

"I love you, Leo."

The moment hung there. Eosi was totally unashamed. For once in her life, intimacy came easily. He'd given her a gift no one else ever could. She eyed him, gaze swimming with adoration. Finally, it felt right to be vulnerable. The sensation was.. Freeing. She paused just a moment longer before reaching up on to kiss him, all too eager to get lost in their own private bliss.

X never marks the spot [Eosi]

For all that Eosi's presence invariably took his breath away, Leo embraced his love feeling like his air supply had been restored. Warmth emanated from his body, pulsating firmly with his heart, under control - if just barely - for the time being. The mark on his back radiated a quiet kind of power, as if anticipating the events to come.

If anything dared intrude on this sacred moment, there was no doubt it would incur a wrath beyond that of a mortal: Leo would have its flesh melted from the bone, percolating on the grass in smoldering rivulets. The wards were really not necessary if not to convey a message; in their own primal wisdom, the creatures of the wild would know better than to disturb them.

"I love you, Eosi," he rasped, and leaned forward to meet her in a passionate kiss. Until now, he'd never truly known what it was like to be an Azenth on a conscious level. Sure, he had reaped results that no other of his bloodline could claim for themselves, but as a priest of Ivak he had so much to learn still. He was learning now.

He could see now that the fire could bring other things than destruction, and he was, perhaps for the first time, happy to be its vessel. It was no longer a tool for getting a job done or an object of philosophical curiosity. It wasn't even an answer, nor a question. It just ... was. The warmth turned to true heat and enveloped the two of them like a cocoon. There was passion, but not the desperation of the first time.

The embrace grew hotter, Leo's hands began to wander more restlessly. The grass was not unlike desert sand at midday, yet not a single blade seemed to be suffering from it. The horses were grazing a distance away, unperturbed despite the slow build-up in the making. His attention shifted downward to Eosi's neck in a thorough endeavor of exploration.

An orchestra of sensation resonated through her body as he whispered his reply. She could taste the sincerity of his words, felt the climbing tattoo of his heart. The purity of his love for her left her shivering. Eosi held fast to his hips as they drew closer, lost in the intensity of his steadily darkening eyes. Her gaze was vulnerable and bright as it was locked in his.

Often it felt like they spoke with their bodies. Each kiss was a declaration as their burning lips crashed together. She responded to his heat in both the literal and figurative senses, craving more and deeper. Her hands slid beneath his shirt. Kissing Leo was sweet relief, a headier escape than any drug could provide. Her hands were urgent, as if searching for any means she could to somehow get closer.

Eosi was slowly electrified. There was so much left to learn about being vulnerable, about raw intimacy. So much she’d yet to experience. In spite of her breadth of knowledge, Leo the Master still managed to instruct. This was but the first of many lessons; she could sense so much more, the wraiths of the years to come haunting his touch as each one sent her spinning. Between her thighs, anticipation began to build. She could feel the need in him as it pressed against her leg.

She drew back slightly to feel his ragged breath against her lips. Her hand slid unabashedly beneath his waistband. The responses of his body gave her gave deep satisfaction, each one setting sparks off in Eosi’s eyes. The beast in her mewled in anticipation. The kisses at her neck only cultivated that need which now ached at her center, each eliciting a soft cry of pleasure from her lips. Her hand worshipped him with more vigor.

Alternately, the other hand gently tugged at his hair to lure him back to her, where she could kiss him or in the very least attempt to. It didn't take many steps before they stood inevitably at the edge of patience. That same hand moved to the fabric of his shirt to pull them both to the ground.

She wanted him wrapped around her, closer than her own skin.

X never marks the spot [Eosi]

Postby Leo Varniak on February 4th, 2016, 9:07 pm

Undoubtedly, most people would have been afraid to even touch Leo Zaital. The radiant heat, the divine presence hovering around him, the complex web of gnosis marks wrapped around his body - some of which downright unsettling - would have given most women pause and caused them to question the wisdom in getting closer to him. Eosi was not most women. Not only did she not feel fear, she was drawn to it with inexplicable ardor, and that excited Leo to no end. There was a peculiar solitude to being a chosen one, and she could pierce right through it like it did not exist.

Eosi’s daring hands never ceased to amaze. Hands both strong and capable, as expected of an archer. Reason having long abandoned him, he could not help but reciprocate in full, sending his own hands out on an undercover quest, one north and one south. His efforts rewarded with the glorious sensation of warm, supple flesh, he found himself gravitating back to his love’s mouth to exchange another deep kiss. Aching for more, he offered no resistance as she pulled him down to the ground, which was exactly where he’d wanted to be all along. It was smoldering hot, yet the nature around them seemed undisturbed by the phenomenon.

Asserting a minimum of control - which he knew she enjoyed - Leo gently pushed Eosi’s chest down to press her against the soft grass and positioned himself right over her. His breath was short and rhythmical as it brushed against her cheek. He looked into her eyes for a single, endless moment of calm before the storm, and then proceeded to get rid of the minor annoyance that was her clothing. He was convinced he had become quite proficient at this activity; the awkward tearing and ripping of the first few times had transformed into a rather nimble slipping and sliding, all aimed at achieving maximum result with minimum effort. His technique was met with success and the sight of glowing, flushed skin, which he promptly kissed with abandon.

His need incalculable by now, he quietly surrounded her from all sides, relishing the feel of skin against skin, as he prepared to take what was his. He could not possibly get enough of Eosi. At that time, he truly believed they would always be together till Dira did them part, and that alone would make sense of all the hardships he’d faced and the mistakes he’d made. Even champions - especially champions, perhaps - can be naive. It was not to be. It could not be - the gods could not allow such happiness to enter the valley of the shadow of death. It would undermine their authority.

It may have been a sweet delusion, but that day, it was their sweet delusion.

Was it ignorance that made her unafraid? Was it the fulminating darkness of raw passion that blinded her? These were questions she’d answer in the lonely years to come, when all they shared seemed further and further away. The details would be obscured, the heat and tension in their bodies forgotten. Only feelings would remain. Feelings and fire, the divine bondage that kept them willing ensnared. It was this and the tempered strength of their love that in spite of it all carried them in their weakest moments, when both were tempted to fall apart.

As he pushed her, she went down gracefully. Eosi was as hot and pliable as fresh iron. Contrary to her squirming, she was his to do with as he pleased. Leo paused as he lorded over his conquest. The moment suspened between them as their eyes spoke perhaps a thousand words, maybe more. There was always further and deeper with Leo Zaital. Beneath seeming simplicity he was labyrinthine and each new revelation led to another, like an eternal staircase ascending ever upward. Eosi wanted to climb and climb without ceasing. She wanted to become lost in his eclipse of light and shadow, if only to find what hid between the two.

Their frenzied activity resumed. If there was a world beyond their two bodies, she no longer aware of it. Only in his divine presence could she exchange reason for madness in the midst of the Sea of Grass. The vast wilderness was altogether dangerous, yet she knew beyond a doubt they were safe. Her clothes came off with little prompting and her searching hands offered the same, unfastening buttons and unlacing breeches with haste. There was a vast expanse of flesh beneath them that she was all too eager to explore.

There simply wasn't enough time in the world for her to be satisfied. His soul was deeper and vaster than the sea. So they spoke to one another in the visceral realm of sensation and the resulting dialogue was immense. They theorized, expanded and rhapsodized together. This was how she’d somehow manage to reach forth and grasp the heart of him; with pure, primal connection.

Eosi moved her lips against his, tracing circles in his skin. She returned to her tender ministrations. Leo radiated in her hands, he groaned against her lips. Her tongue deftly traced the edge of his lower lip, demurely seeking entrance, so she could emulate her desire in terms he would no doubt understand. Their bodies, fully unclad, moved together in resplendent harmony. Their mouths were tangled with furious desire.

Eosi could not suffer it any longer. Her hips made way for the connection they both ached for. The rush of his heat, the feeling of him inside her… She broke from their feverish kissing to stare into the black depths of his eyes, the sounds of heady pleasure on her lips.

X never marks the spot [Eosi]

Postby Leo Varniak on February 11th, 2016, 10:36 pm

For a long time Leo had wondered, deprived of true understanding. He had chosen to follow a god who’d destroyed the world for love, all the while not really grasping Ivak’s reasons, nor his own. He had spoken with the god at length, of course, and Ivak had shared a tale of the depth of his love for Kova. Leo could accept that explanation on an abstract level, just like a blind person can be reasonably convinced that the color red exists, but will be clueless when it comes to actually imagining it. Yet, if that same person suddenly became capable of seeing the color for themselves… their world would be irradiated with such power to eclipse all other sensations.

It had taken Eosi for Leo to finally see red and many other colors beside it. He wondered no more; he did not fully understand, because understanding was the domain of the gods, but he was part of the truth. The truth was wrapped around him, squirming in pleasure as they made love for the wilderness to see. He relished the feel of Eosi’s skin pressed against his, the sounds she made as she gradually lost any control she had over herself. He wanted - a twisted desire, perhaps, but an overwhelming one - to see her reason nullified, destroyed. He wanted to see her reduced to an unthinking mass of love with no ability for anything but feeling him. For once, his light and his darkness saw that their interests aligned.

He took her then, pinning her body under his against the soft grass, and her hands with his own. With every assault he returned to her mouth for a kiss or a gentle bite. Love was creation, and love was also destruction. It was not a state or an arrangement of variables, but a process and a transformation in time. His mind would come to this conclusion eventually, but other parts of him had already figured this out. His eyes locked in Eosi’s all along, Leo loved her unconditionally, dangerously, with every fiber of his being. She was a brave woman, maybe almost too brave for her own good. The path she had chosen could easily leave her scarred for life, the heat too great to bear.

And then, moaning softly, Leo rolled the both of them sideways, momentarily lifting Eosi from the soft earth of the Sea of Grass as she ended up on top for just a split second. The momentum carried them on, and Leo pushed her down with her back against the grass for the second time. He wanted to relive that sensation over and over again, pushing her against the ground with just enough strength to make her hair scatter and her breasts bounce lightly. He didn’t even care if they truly ended up rolling out of the safe zone he’d just finished staking out. Why should he have cared? The world outside was all a fake anyways.

A droplet of sweat fell down from his brow to hers as he regarded Eosi with affectionate fury for half a second, barely conscious himself but eager to see what was left of her by now.

Her body gracefully lifted from the grass and rolled atop him, causing her to gasp slightly from the air as it rushed over her bare skin. But the sensation was short lived as Leo kept the momentum going, rolling her again to where they’d just been. Eosi burst into peals of breathless laughter, silenced only as her lips were again sealed with another searing kiss. Her lover pressed into her again and again and each sinuous motion filled that place within momentarily, that vacuum inside of her that was never satisfied.

The sweat dewing at his brow began to trickle, but if she noticed, she didn’t seem to care. The sublime ecstasy at her core began to accumulate, every motion leading her further to madness. Her lips were parted, her chest heaving. The sounds of her pleasure grew more pleading. More desperately did she sink her hips into his, craving the release unspooling inside of her. Everything was Leo, even the white hot space behind her eyelids.

There was a place she went while they were making love. It was their special place, where nothing else had meaning. Pure affection swelled in her heart, spilling out in every language she knew. Eosi felt transcendent intimacy, lost as she was lost in the void of his ink-colored irises. He was the fire in her light. As a result, all other places of the world fell into shadow.

It was that thought - the fact that it was he who did this to her, that it was Leo, caused her to clench tightly with desire. A soft groan escaped her lips and she tossed her head, arching her back, hoisting her legs to wrap around his waist. Anything to become closer to him. She unlaced their fingers to lose hers in his crop of untidy hair. Their movements were coming faster now, making love in a perfect symmetry, utterly oblivious to the dangers of the grass.

They were soon to be on the edge. He’d know it by the way she bit her lip. Eosi felt every motion as it shot from nerve to nerve, pleasure fanning out from her center. He wasn’t far behind her, though it was difficult to tell lost as she was. Her soft moans became cries of insistence as she reached the precipice.

”Leo,” she gasped, woodland eyes bright with ardor.

That was all it took. Over the knife’s edge she went, quivering with pleasure. Their movements carried the wave of desire as it crested and washed over her. Eosi said his name over and over again like a sacred oath, until the feeling fled from her at last.

X never marks the spot [Eosi]

Postby Leo Varniak on February 24th, 2016, 10:10 pm

There would be times in Leo’s future when he would need a memory to cling to, or face a worse fate than death, a ward and an amulet against the dark - and this would be one of those memories. It wasn’t their most dramatic encounter, nor the most elaborate setup they had shared; they had no need for these things now. Eosi was part of his soul, and he of hers; no matter where they went or how far away they were separated, they would always walk with two shadows. Few mortals were ever allowed such a blessing; Leo was aware of his privilege, if only at the most instinctual level.

Eosi’s skin was Syna’s blessing to the world. He craved the contact, relished every inch of closeness. He wanted her totally, inside and out; and for once in his life, his desire was not of the consuming kind but of the nurturing one. Every thrust sent jolts of unadulterated joy through his body, each begging for the next; there was no respite, no quarter given, no other way out of the spiral. Eyes locked just as their bodies were, they sunk together. Eosi’s voice was maddening, and surprisingly he found his own hushed and more private by comparison as he whispered her name for her ears only.

Finally, the inner upheaval was too much for her to bear. The feeling of release resonated with his Gnosis mark like sound reverberating through an empty room, and he could suddenly feel the waves of her pleasure juxtaposed to his, familiar but alien. Crashing into him with the power of a runaway stallion, it broke him and instantly brought him way past his limit. Ironically, he was the one almost being annihilated by the sensation. For many seconds there was nothing between his temples but overpowering release. This was precisely how a champion of Ivak could possibly keep his sanity even in the constant presence of pent-up emotion that could easily drive him to madness. Eosi was not simply loving him as a woman, but as a sacred mate, perhaps more of a priest than he was.

”Eosi,” he panted, his body relaxing at last as he remained perched on top of her, unwilling to let go of the beautiful proximity. Their heat mixing as they allowed their heartbeats to gradually slow down, even their breaths tangled as one. Leo paused to gaze into his love’s eyes for a long moment, his fingers tracing the contour of her face. ”I will love you for as long as I exist.” It wasn’t an empty, spur-of-the-moment promise, and it certainly did not sound that way. The statement, even at that time, carried the full weight of consideration. Leo did not know how long his dangerous lifestyle would allow him to walk Mizahar - champions were constant targets of divine scheming - but he was certain there would be no other. One flame could read another. It was that simple.

The realization given voice brought a quick smile to his face. He planted a slow kiss on Eosi’s lips, truly satisfied for the first time in as long as he could remember.

X never marks the spot [Eosi]

It was beyond gratifying to feel him shuddering as he was driven over the edge. To know she was the catalyst for his moaning, that it was she who caused his arms to buckle and his body to sway as he reached his fruitful conclusion…. That was the masterstroke that left her feeling content. Eosi felt her body contort with the last of her pleasure and smiled, truly satisfied.

They laid there awhile, though how long exactly didn’t even occur. Leo’s long, lean body ran hot, insulating her against the cold winter air. She gazed into his eyes with transcendent love and affection, swimming in their depths. Eosi did not even consider the possibility of not having those eyes before her. In all the time they spent together, it never once occurred she might lose what they shared. It was her plan to follow him so long as he let her, even into the arms of death.

”And I, you.” She assented, reaching up trace the contours of his face. ”Let our souls be bound together until we’re taken by fate and then... Further still.” Her gaze was soft in that way reserved just for him, with the sort of love kept sacred in the most remote spaces of the human heart.

”I will follow you through a thousand lifetimes.” Eosi concluded. Leo could see she wore that look she always did when she committed to a definite course of action. There was an ignition in her eyes and a set to her jaw that denoted that were she able, they’d navigate from this lifetime to the next with one another, throughout eternity.

Who knew how many such promises she’d made in lives past? For all they were aware, they two had loved again and again as they made their way along the river of time. Such was the way of divine partnership. They were both known and not known to one another, engaged in an endless discovery of regenerating forms.

Clad only in a smile, she reached up to press their lips together. The air was freezing but the feeling of the kiss left her hungry for more. Always, she craved him, even as she was newly sated. But soon the cold began to penetrate the space between their bodies. Her flesh began to gather. This sudden, unwelcome intrusion served to distract, reminding Eosi of what they’d actually set out to do. As goal-oriented as she was, Leo had this unique aptitude for her getting her completely sidetracked. The longer they laid there, the more her discomfort grew. Procrastination hung over her head like the proverbial sword of Damocles.

”I’d love to stay here for another day or so, but we’ve work to do,” she said with a chuckle, ”and unlimited time together. Our spirits are never too far apart.” Eosi reached up and laid a palm upon the gift of the Windoak at his breast. It gave her peace, however transient.

”Plus,” she added with a wry smile, ”I’m finally getting cold.”

Slowly, they were disentangled. Using that same hand, she gently shifted his weight to the side and stretched, unfurling her muscles like a ship’s sail into a stiff breeze. As she did, her joints cracked out a staccato of cartilage and bone. In particular, her left knee was giving her a little trouble she noted, as it sometimes did.

Eosi rose and resumed what they were doing. It’d soon be nightfall. But first, she hastily pulled on her clothes. The temperature had dropped significantly since their sudden tryst. The trees had gone silent, she noted as she pulled on her trousers. The ambient sounds of the grass had fallen away. Immediately struck with suspicion, Eosi allowed the power of her mark to make the best of what little light they had left before it sank beneath the horizon. Syna’s joy spilled into the container of her conscious mind.

It appeared the colony of snarlwings began to stir nearby, close as they were to the nighttime. Eosi noted their overwhelming number with alarm. If there were that many, then the Society's assumption that they'd begun preying on more than the dead had proven to be correct. Eosi was again grateful for the presence of the Champion. Not only was he her lover and her best friend, but he was also her partner out in the wild.

”Leo,” she began tenderly, but firmly. He would read the danger in her voice and in her eyes before it even so much as touched the air. ”We have some local predators becoming active, from about a half mile south. I’d give it maybe ten, fifteen minutes before they’re airborne.”

Once she was fully dressed, Eosi scrambled for her bow. It was a good thing they finished making love when they did. Any longer and she certainly would not have noticed.

”Snarlwings. A colony of them,” she added. While her tone was urgent, it was not touched with panic. After all, together they could fell any foe. With a heave, she slung her quiver over her back.

”Get ready!” She sang, plucking an arrow. Would this day resemble the life they were soon to share? Equal parts love and war? Because deep down, she certainly hoped so.
