The thought gave him pause for a moment. She was old enough to be his great grandmother…He’d never met her. Nor either parents from either side of his family. He took a lasting look into the distance staring up at the sky. “It’s strange really…I’ve never met my extended family…If it even exists…” he paused thinking longingly now his surroundings lost to him. Her voice cut through the blankness. Apparently he’d gotten a point wrong there. It wasn’t Arch, but a different knight. It was Ser Iros and Ser maximus, a knight he hadn’t yet had the pleasure or displeasure as the case may be of crossing. Still the flick of the edge of her voice was what signalled that she was on good terms with Arch. Continuing to re affirm it with her sentiments.

He couldn’t help but chuckle as she spoke about him. “I thank you for the vote of confidence Lynn, but I’m afraid as I stand right now I’m one of the least valuable members. And as far as I can tell I’ve a long way to go.” He gave her a smile of genuine thanks for her sentiments. The comment about meeting a better knight was something he could possibly help with. “You should meet Ser Greyheart, he’s…A good man. And a better knight.” A spark of genuine respect echoed out from him.

Though her recanting of what had happened the year prior was something lost on him he half pushed a few of the thoughts from his mind. Panicky syliran citizens, sounded like people everywhere when things got difficult. “Sounds like normal. But yes Irathia Lynn’s right about this possibly boring you. Speaking of which how’s your training going Ira? Your ankles alright after the spar?” An honest concern in his voice as he motioned up to sit on the edge of the bath now, mostly out of the water feeling more at ease.

Postby Irathia on February 11th, 2016, 10:59 pm

Irathia sat silently, as she watched Lynn and Alex talk about people she did not remember or recognize. Her eyes explored the room as she listened to the woman talk about being older than some one's great grandmother... What are grandmothers... What are great grandmothers? How old is she? Irathia thought as her eyes explored.

Irathia was snapped out of her gazing when Lynn mentioned herself going around scarring the day lights out of people from the Burning Bazaar... Irathia was curious why should would do that? Irathia sighed and slightly snuck a little bit. Nothing was really interesting her... It sort of felt like they might have forgotten she was there.

Lynn then asked her if she would like to learn or do anything... Irathia thought for a bit and shrugged. "I am not sure." Irathia said, she was reluctant to continue to talk but Irathia felt like she could trust Lynn. "I haven't really thought about anything other than getting stronger, and following my Patron's example." Irathia said, sighing after words. "My ankles are fine, Alex." Irathia said, they were still a bit purple from the large bruises that formed.

Lynn gave Alex a curious look as he mentioned not knowing his extended family, but didn't say much otherwise. Growing up in the nest back home, the thought of not knowing your extended family was inconceivable to the Dhani. But maybe humans were different about it, like they were about a lot of things.

Then came Alex's comment about his value to the order, bringing another snort from the viper. "Only if they undervalue intelligence. You came looking for ways to improve yourself, studying herbs to help keep yourself and your companions alive. Even when I'm mad at them I don't think the knights are that stupid." she said, her sardonic tone returning before he spoke about Ser Greyheart. "You're patron? Bring him by the shop sometime." she said, shrugging before turning to Irathia.

At the other womans answer, Lynn paused for a moment, then took a deep breath and ducked under the water, opening her eyes to look at Irathia's ankles. Not a great shade of purple, she figured, but survivable. She resurfaced, brushed her damp hair out of her eyes and smiled at the other girl. "Try a Vyfox tea on your ankles. Might help with the swelling. If I already suggested such...well, it's still good advice." she said, laughing before glancing at Irathia curiously. "Have you ever considered learning medicine or herbology? Getting stronger...that's a good thing, but there are many forms of strength. My mother told me once that saving a life takes more strength than taking one, and...I'll agree with her. I'm not trying to talk you out of the knights, but it might worth a bit of your time to look into it."

The pair of them seemed to be getting along well lyn dove beneath the water to check on Ira’s ankles and see how they were, apparently they could do with a little Vyfox to help them on their mend. Alex smiled upon hearing Lynn’s last words. “Yeah. I’m in agreement there, it’s harder to keep someone alive than it is to kill.” Alex thought back to his days in Sunberth and how he’d made sure to just incapacitate people and his father had been swift to end them. “I don’t know how the knights feel about intelligence, most of the time it seems like they just want people to follow their orders. But I try.” He smiled lightly and Stepped out of the water. The cooler air now washing over him as he did so. He’d come he’d come here to think and ended up getting a little more to think on than he’d bargained for.

“Ira, Lynn…Mind if I ask you two a question.” He’d of gripped a hold of the symbols at his throat if they were there. “Do you guys think the knights want me?” He looked down at them still in the water. He stood not as a proud man like his patron but as a much softer individual. Before he could say much else though he caught sight of someone he didn’t expect to see. His patron had walked in. Alex made a move to hide but it was already too late his patron was coming over.
“Alex? I didn’t think I’d find you here.” A smile broad and wide on his face. If one was to compare Alex and Sebastian, Alex was marginally taller but Ser Greyheart was thicker more defined in build from years of training. “I know Squire Irathia there. But I don’t Believe we’ve met miss?” Alex looked over at Lynn.
“This is Suresslynn. A friend of mine.” Alex held a look of “well you wanted to meet him.”

“Pleasure to meet you. You been taking care of the boy?” He smirked and sat down in the water where Alex had just been sitting, ushering Alex to jump back in.

Irathia sat for a while, remaining silent as she thought. Should I train with medicine? Would the order want me to... I mean the order DOESN'T seem to value intelligence that much, not compared to fighting and generally following the order. Irathia shifted in the water, deep in thought as she seemed to have sunk into the warm water... It got to the point where her mouth began to submerge.

Irathia closed her eyes as she feel deeper into the water, it got to the point where her nose was in the water and she inhaled water. She sprung up, standing, as she coughed up the small amount of water she inhaled. She whipped her mouth and smiled at her silliness, not noticing that Ser Greyheart had entered.

"Oh... Hail Ser Greyheart." Irathia quickly said, trying to recover and pretending that she did not snort up half the pools water. She cleared her throat and sat back down into the water, submerging her self and pressing her back to the walls of the pool.

Lynn raised an eyebrow at Alex's comment about the order valuing obedience versus intelligence, but didn't respond. If that was true, the order was flat out moronic, but she suspected that such wasn't actually the case. There might be some truth to it for squires as new as Alex and Ira seemed to be, but she figured that was as much a protective measure as anything.

At Alex's nervous question, the Dhani gave him an odd look and hesitated a moment before speaking. "Alex...I can't say what the order wants. I don't even fully understand their purpose. But in my, admittedly limited, experience, they've been honest and even a bit blunt. If they didn't want you, I think they'd have told you." she said, her tone serious before she noticed someone approaching.

She was about to point the man out, but then Ira apparently decided that the inside of her nose needed a bath as well. Or she just wasn't paying attention to how deep in the water she was. Either way, the other woman wound sputtering as the man arrived. Evidently, she wanted to impress him as much as Alex did, because she tried to downplay her attempt to drown herself.

Turning her attention to the man, Lynn frowned at his question. "He doesn't need us to take care of him..." she said, sounding angry that Alex's patron thought of him as a child. Could explain Alex's lack of self-confidence, in Lynn's opinion, and didn't exactly raise her opinion of the knights. Then she realized that her trouble with common might have just made him stick her tail in her mouth. "Or did I miss something?" she asked, looking at Alex.

Alex stood at the edge of the water as Greyheart submerged himself in the waters. As he did he heard an emerging splash and turned his head to see Irathia Having said that standing bolt upright out of the water. Water rolling off of her rather significant figure as she coughed. Clearly she’d lost track of how far she was sinking into the water. However that wasn’t what Alex was focused on, he coughed loudly and twisted his eyes away from her form and only looked back when he’d heard her splash back into the water. However Greyheart spoke. “Don’t worry about that Irathia, you may want to sit back down before you give Alex a heart attack.” A small chuckle and a smile from Greyheart as he turned his attentions to Lynn.

Oddly enough where most knights would have taken an offence at the comment and tone which Lynn spoke with he simply waved it off. “I think you’ve misunderstood. I meant that in more of a friendly way I saw the three of you talking when I walked in and I assumed that you were simply keeping him company. If this was a wrong assumption then my apologies.” Alex paused a moment before choosing to sit back into the water again. A tick or two of silence passed. And Greyheart smirked. “So ladies, mind if I ask you. What brought you to surround my squire? I mean there are plenty of other lads here.” A small mischievous look in his eye. It was an odd contrast in all honesty. Alex as quiet reserved and rather self-conscious. Whilst His patron was much bolder, louder and more prideful, yet between them there was a few similarities that both displayed.

“Also.” Greyheart spoke again having had an angle, at irathia’s back a brief second ago. “Those are some pretty vicious scars. Hope they’re not from training…If so I’d have to have a word with whoever is teaching you.” Alex paused at his patrons words. Ira had spoken about scars earlier but he assumed that she’d only had a few small ones like the ones over her arms, now hearing that he had a new found stance on what Irathia had said. Still Alex’s attention split over to Lynn. Sis she talk like that with very knight? Was it a lack of cultural or colloquial understanding or was she just that bold with everyone?

A stunned silence fell over Alex as he looked on. And strangely enough Alex didn’t have a feeling of Knight and squire with Greyheart but one of an older and younger brother. Alex leant against the edge of the pool and pondered a few things.

Irathia felt her self pressing against the wall now, the knowledge of scars given to the snake lady and Ser Greyheart embarrassed her... "No... The scars were from... Other things." Irathia said, trying not to reveal her past. She was still scared of telling people about herself, worried that they would stop being around, stop being friends... She fears being alone. "Sera Ravonai is a good patron."

Why was she around Alex, she didn't know exactly... She was sort of bored, of course, and she wanted some sort of company... There was also a small amount of revenge running through her mind due to the ankles, and Alexander is really sort of her only friend. Other than Ophelia Ravonai, of course.

"I am not sure why I decided to stay with Alex, he is my first friend sense I got to Syliras, also you know." Irathia said, she pulled up her ankle from the water and showed the bruises. "Slight amount of revenge." She grinned, showing her pointed teeth. She giggled slightly, hiding it under her breath as she submerged her leg back into the water.
