The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

Day 46, Spring. Year 516.
Evening.
"The sun comes down. The stars come out. And all that counts is here and now."

The field of Belboru light up with it's pink flashes of color as the street lights turn on and radiate a soft glow. Eldecrok was "standing" or what could be considered standing when you have a seal tail. Staring at the flush pink flowers, he begins to draw the petals with light strokes, and allows the ink to lightly spread over the parchment. There is the occasional sigh when he's finally finished another petal without messing up, and soon he had recreated the pom-pom like flower in his journal.

Image

Soon, the sun finally came down, leaving only the light of the lanterns. The pink flowers seem all the more difficult to draw during this hour, let alone another plant. Eldecrok simply crawled on his seal-stomach to the nearby bench several feet away. The way he crawls is surreal.

Seal Crawling

When he arrived at the bench, he sat there, only to find some uncomfortable thing there. When he crawls off the bench, it turns out it was a rock. An annoying rock. Once again crawling back onto the bench, he reviewed his sketches of the day. He would appear as a large cloaked figure, with greyscale butterfly wings on his back with two circles on each wing that appear almost alive as the eye shaped dots are large and dark compared to the rest of the wing.

Halin'a smiles as he feels the moonlight wash over him; it has been a long month, and it's good to be out at night without needing to be working, to simply revel in the feeling of his god's embrace, distant though it may be. He's wandered rather far from his apartment, but the Ethaefal has little concern of being accosted; Lhavit is a relatively peaceful city, and they show great respect and esteem for Ethaefal, both children of Syna and children of Leth.

As the Ethaefal walks the paths of the city, he draws curious and openly admiring looks; with the changing of the seasons nearly a month and a half ago, his Ethaefal seeming had changed as well. His skin tone stayed the same, but his hair and horns changed as they always did with the flaring of the towers. His horns were no longer black as the night sky, but rather white as the moon and stars; his hair had darkened a few shades until it was not white but closer to silver in tone, and he knew that his horns were unique; the general shape was curved like a ram's, but instead of each horn curling around the back of his head, the horns crossed at the back of his head, twining briefly before separating once more and coming to curl under his ears, the tips level with the bottom of his earlobe, though forward just a bit.

Halin'a had no destination in mind as he walked; the sun had only recently set, and he still had several bells to soak in the moonlight and enjoy the sights, but he found himself at a small, secluded park. A sign proclaimed it as 'Bulboru Fields', and Halin'a found his curiosity raising its head; he'd not been in this part of the city before. With a shrug, the Ethaefal steps forward, embarking down the marked path.

It's not long before he comes across a figure sat upon a bench, and his curiosity rises further; the figure doesn't look like any race he's seen yet. "Hello?" he calls, stepping forward to get a better look. "Who is there?"

He had lost track of time again it would seem again Vick thought as he moved about the city. His small body and frame stood a bit out of place in his eyes but with a city like this he learned he could blend in a it.

Really from a distance he did not stand out. A child around 4’5 wearing a backpack, dark robes, dark pants with an old looking cotton shirt with a pair of boots finishing it. Granted the robes might look a bit out of place but to Vick it was normal to wear them as he had learned to wear them in his time with Sahova.

Yet if one was to look closer at the young child they would see traits that would be out of place. His murky pale blue eyes, the dark black bags under his eyes that gave his face a sunken appearance. His dark blue tips of his fingers but more so was if you had touched him by mistake you would not feel the warmth of his body but of a cold corpse. Vick was not human or any living race as he was a nuit, undead and not seen it would seem too many times in this city.

Vick was still new to the city but was trying not to stand out. Granted he failed that a few times but at least he was trying not to stand out in what he could do to most people. He had always lived in Sahova far to the west of the city and did not even know a reason why he was here. Besides having to leave the island but any place would have worked. In the end he did not mind as it seemed this city was filled with a different type of life.

The young looking child could be found looking around the city but at night time he would hide in his room working on projects or out seeing the wonders of the city. This time he had spied on a garden that looked like a neat spot to try to relax from earlier in the day. His goal was to sit and draw things that were around him in hopes of finding improvement on his understanding of drawing.

Yet when he came upon the garden in question it would seem he was not alone like he thought. Without trying to think about the risks of the figures standing in front of him he had pulled forth his djed from the depths of his soul and focusing them upon his eyes. The world had changed from the normal shadows figures, light bouncing about into a world of vided colors as if he was able to see music with his eyes.

His auristics was more of a passive magic as it could not harm anyone but it could tell him so many things in life and in death. The reason he found himself relying on it now however was to make sure other wizards were not around for he was still trying to keep in the shadows from them. While humans and other races had a larger amount of djed it was wizards who seemed to have a far brighter color in his eyes. He feared what they would see if they looked upon him but he soon let the magic go as the two figures did not seem to have the djed needed to be wizards at this time.

He stood a bit back as it seemed they were in talks but he moved about them taking a seat near along the ground. His small hands moving the backpack off him as he made sure to have the robes cover his arms. Under his right arm was a bone cut into two figures and strapped around him. It gave him another magical power to use Flux on command even if he did not know it but it drew energy from his other body parts. He dared not use it but it was in case if the peaceful city was not so peaceful. Yet he knew if a fight would break out with him and it came to blows he would lose but at least it gave him some peace of mind.

His hands and eyes started moving in his bag, mix of drawings, notes, ideas, writing items, small box of carving tools and small blocks of wood but he pulled out the book of drawings and a used pencil.

He would figure out what to do with it later as he closed his bag looking around him. He did not think anyone would be here but that was not going to stop him from moving forward with his plans. While they may be here for awhile it did not matter much to him for he never did sleep afterall.

Bulboru Fields

Postby Eldecrok on April 16th, 2016, 2:16 am

OOC: "Bulboru Fields" is not an official location, just one of the many random gardens around Lhavit. Sorry for any confusion.

A good sniff of the air, along with the lucky breeze revealed a stranger's presence, however faint as it may be. It wasn't much, for all he could tell was that it wasn't a plant. As the man slowly comes into view, Eldecrok's eyes were keen enough to make out a silhouette that was coming closer, though who it is was hard to tell due to the twilight. It was only when the man came closer that Eldecrok would be able to see that this was one of the great Ethaefal. Not bothering much with his appearance since most in the city were not a threat, let alone an Ethaefal, Eldecrok simply looked to his gait. He could tell many things from a gait, along with additional information from the way they hold their hands and move their bodies. According to his heirloom, should a humanoid person seem "tense," do not mess with them. That was the one thing that was in red ink. From what his heirloom said, he was fairly sure that this man was not "tense."

Slowly getting off the bench by leaning forward and simply "falling off," it would appear to anyone not in the rays of light from the lantern that a cloaked bag of beans suddenly leaned forward and simply became a slouching bag of beans. Otherwise, they would evidently see that this is an Akvatari if they could recognize them. The tail and butterfly wings would be the giveaway, but otherwise the rest of him is shrouded in a scholarly robe, which currently smells of a bit of sweat along with Mountain Roses from an earlier garden. A quick flutter of the wings shows that Eldecrok is alive and not simply a corpse which has fallen, but otherwise has not shown any presence of life.

When the Ethaefal approaches, he simply dumps out his current thoughts right out. "Who am I? I'm Eldecrok, Akvatari. What am I doing... Research on plants, to make sure they grow and reproduce. What a bad place with no flowers, no? Anyway, Eldecrok. Botanist." To anyone else who would have listened to these words they would have seem to come from an incoherent man who was far too dazed. Which in fact he was, for this was one of the gardens he frequents with little disruption. Crawling as a seal would, using his arms to lift and push himself along in a surreal manner back to the bench to retrieve his things, when he noticed and glanced at another cloaked figure who was sitting nearby. Leaving them be for now, Eldecrok turned his full attention to the Ethaefal.

Halin'a's attention is briefly drawn from the strange figure before him by a darting shadow, but before he can look too closely at the shadow, the figure falls forward. The Ethaefal lunges forward with a yelp, hands outstretched to help, but then he stares in amazement at the figure before him. The name 'Akvatari' doesn't ring any bells, and Halin'a has never seen another being like this in his near-sixty years on Mizahar, a creature with the top half of a man, the wings of a butterfly, and the lower half of a seal.

The botanist bit of the Akvatari's words makes sense; there's certainly plenty of plants around Lhavit to be studied, and the 'Eldecrok' bit must be the other's name. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Eldecrok," he says, stepping forward to shake the other's hand. "I'm Halin'a, a son of Leth. I've never seen another person like you. Where are you from?" The Ethaefal could see a journal nearby, which he assumed that Eldecrok had been making notes in about the local flora. "Have you been in Lhavit long?" If he hadn't, that would help to explain why Halin'a hadn't seen the other before; he spends most of his days walking about in his mortal seeming, still exploring this new city of his; there were places he hadn't been yet that he dearly wished to visit, he just hadn't found the time to yet. And Lhavit had numerous gardens, some named and some not, most of them open to the public; if the Akvatari was a botanist, it would make sense that he would spend most of his time in those gardens rather than out and about in the main city.

Something was raising the hairs on the back of Halin'a's neck; it was not a threatening feeling, per se - just the feeling of being watched. He wondered if perhaps it was connected to the shadow he'd seen earlier, and Halin'a lifted his gaze briefly from Eldecrok, attempting to seek it out once again, but now that he was standing within the circle of light from the lamp it was much harder to see anything beyond what the lamp illuminated. That, of course, did nothing to ease the feeling of being observed, but Halin'a decided he was being paranoid, and that nothing was there.

That didn't stop him from keeping one eye out however, just in case.

He would have signed if he gave the energy to as he lifted himself up, his pad, pencil in hand with his backpack over his shoulder as he moved towards the bench. He moved past the two figures and took a seat as if he was in his own world.

His eyes looking at them and tilting his head to the right just a bit. Two races he had only read about but never seen. The horns showing off for one and what looked liked a weird magical science project forming a seal was the other. Granted he would not share that tad bit of what he thought about the two races as he could think of uses for the bodies in death but it just never made much sense to him on it.

Yet was he one to talk? Being an undead race who could transfer bodies like a parasite? At least the other races were welcomed to most areas but Nuits were really not welcomed. It was a point in his head that he had to agree with. They were more welcomed compared to him so he should not be rude if asked anything.

He did not say anything to the young adults as they spoke to each other but he just moved back to his pad and started to draw. One of the things that Vick always did almost daily until a few years back was to go to the docks on Sahova and watch the ocean. He started doing it when he first became who he was now and he found some soft joy in it.

His hand moved slowly with purpose as he made lines along it. He was never good at drawing buildings but he would try his hand at drawing a dock. Afterall it was just a few lines and shading afterall. Yet that was far easier said than done as he started to make a small one and once he found he did not like it he would just start again next to it.

If one was to look at his drawings they would see the lines were light and basic outline. Four lines were made to make a box and lines were crossed over to form what looked like planks. At least that is what Vick had in mind but tonight it would seem it just was not coming out right. After a few attempts of that he just found himself stopping and watching the two figures in silence.

With the night around him he found he could not have to play much of a human. Few could see the fact his chest did not move up and down to breath or his eyes never seemed to blink.

Eldecrok politely listened as the man continued to talk until he was finished. Shifting his gaze from his horns, eyes, general stance, and back to his eyes, it had been a while since he had seen a Ethaefal around. Eldecrok concluded that no Ethaefal could do that much harm, let alone slander him with what he was about to say.

"Ah Yes, I am from Abura, though this is my home now. I forget when I was abandoned here, but I surely must have been left long before I had any conscious memory. I haven't been out in the open very long, I used to only frequent my room and one or two gardens, but now I simply need to find places that aren't overrun by people so that I can actually work. Mind you that a chat or two does no harm, but to be surrounded by people who interrupt your work isn't helpful. All these people ask for art, literature, and other silly things at times."

A glance back at the other boy is made, and a chill passes through the blubber of Eldecrok's tail. The glance lasted no longer than a split second, and so his attention turned to the bench, in which he crawled his way to the seat and took his notebook with a couple of ink sticks and began to draw. "Let me get things set up for just a second. I think this would appeal to you." Eldecrok said as he made a egg-like base for the head. The ink was flowing out at an inconsistent rate, so the bottom of the base towards the neck was a bit thicker than the top. Taking out a lighter ink stick he drew some of the lines across and up the egg base, forming a guide to what's next... The man might have wanted a picture, due to a shift in his gaze from Eldecrok to slightly behind him. At least, that's what Eldecrok was thinking.

Halin'a is distracted for a moment by the shadow he'd spotted before moving once again - it turned out to be what looked like a young boy with some sketching supplies and a bag. Despite the fact that something seemed off about him that Halin'a could not place, the Ethaefal dismissed him from his mind for the moment in favor of returning his attention to Eldecrok, who was now sketching. "What's that?" Halin'a asks curiously. "I'm sorry, I don't have much experience with any art besides, well, the art of physical pleasure." He laughs slightly, though he makes no move to move closer, respecting the other's personal space. "I've heard of Abura - it's an island, isn't it? You said you were left here, in Lhavit?"

The Ethaefal watches the sketch form with interest; he's always been intrigued by those who were able to take simple lines and create beautiful things with them. "Why do people ask you for silly things?" he asks, and then flushes slightly, his moonstone skin darkening across his cheeks as he realizes, "I'm sorry; I'm asking you silly things, aren't I?" Wow, and Halin'a liked to pride himself on his attempts to at least be tactful and respectful. Here he was badgering the Akvatari with so many questions he might as well be a young human child, insatiable in its curiosity and annoying in its persistence.

He looks away in embarrassment, and finds his gaze caught by the child sitting on the nearby bench, focusing on his own sketchbook as his hand and utensil moved across the page in short movements. Halin'a watches the child for a few moments, the feeling of unease growing, but he does not say anything for the moment; the child has done nothing to warrant this unease, and Halin'a is not going to start accusing random children of being criminals or some other nefarious no-good without cause.

Vick saw the person in more detail. His wings on his human side back and what looked like a seal tail. He had to wonder what traits his body and biological traits had to be with such an odd body. He never did get to play with any of his kind before in Sahova, dead or alive, yet he still had to wonder what could make something tick. Was the tail meant to store food or water? Did the wings meant flight? So many questions came to mind as he looked upon him.

As for the other he also did not know much about that race. He would have to see what traits he had that would cause Vick to have a reason to give him his full attention. He told himself over and over he would keep a low profile and not find test subjects, but, this just seemed to be fate in the end.

His eyes were filled with a lust as he thought about the endless ideas, but he moved on from the idea. He moved back to his drawings of his dock like feature. He had missed his research and studies into his craft. He still had not found a release in this city.

He had to find something to do he thought as he filled in the shading for the docks. Adding lines along the base to form the shoreline and little light lines past the end of the dock to form an idea of an ocean. It was a very basic idea he had but it was slowly coming along.

He would talk to the two figures but it was rude to jump in and truth be told he was not sure if he could act “normal” right now if he was thinking of using them for his craft. It was going to be a long season he thought.

When Eldecrok looked up to see Halin'a blushing from embarrassment, Eldecrok chuckled and waved his embarrassment away. Giving a small response, he put up more guide lines on the drawing, "Three's a crowd. You're fine."

Eldecrok continues to work on the image, drawing the eyes, nose, mouth, and horns. Despite quite a bit of accuracy, twilight was passing into early night and the lantern light simply wouldn't suffice any longer with his skill. He had only just began to add detail to the horns, so the intricate bumps would have to be made another day. Tearing the page out carefully and handing it to the Ethaefal, He stretched a bit before staring at the boy for a couple of seconds before beckoning them over. After the beckoning, Eldecrok patted the seat next to him and spoke his thoughts out loud. "Poor child, must be lost, no? Maybe he's waiting for someone." Eldecrok wasn't sure about how he felt, but he didn't care much for appearances, so he didn't notice anything out of the norm at first.
