Nestled in a fairly large tent along the Diamond Spoke is the Predator's Post. This family run outfit has seen its share of ups and downs but always manages to remain relevant. It might have something to do with their impeccable stock of hunting companions or it might be that they train the animals so well they practically sell themselves.

The business is run by the Thunderpaw pavilion and they take everything very seriously. The upkeep of their tent, the care of their animals, the efficiency and effectiveness of their training programs and even the way every deal is sealed with a glass of mead displays the heartfelt respect they have for their business and their customers. Regardless of who is there to tend the animals, one can always find the ankal, Tomma, roaming about using his 'sixth sense' to match Drykas to his pets. It's also not uncommon for the man to randomly pay a visit to a customer to make sure they're taking good care of their purchase.

Age: 42

Description: Tomma is a large man but not very tall. Standing around 5'9" he seems average until he turns sideways and one realizes that his muscled arms and barreled chest make him seem square. He's almost always smiling but that grin can feel very cold when he's warning a customer about abusing animals. some say he loves the creatures more than his own children but in Tomma's mind they are one in the same. He loves to talk about anything and generally will at length. Very rarely can one buy from him without having to take a drink of some potent honey mead.

Skills: Animal Husbandry - 77, Bodybuilding - 68, Business - 39

23 Spring 516AV

Asarni sighed to herself as she pushed the flap of the tent containing the Predator's Post - the shop selling various animals for both hunting and protection - out of her way. She had been saving her mizas for the past several weeks, ever since she had decided that it was time she found a hunting companion and a protector. She'd debated purchasing a hawk or eagle - she had always admired the Cyphrus eagles - but had decided that, for now at least, she needed something a bit more grounded. So, she was here to purchase a dog; she didn't have very many mizas, but hopefully she had enough to get a trained animal. It would save quite a bit of time on her end, not having to train the animal while also gaining its trust and loyalty.

"Hello?" she called, not seeing Tomma, the proprietor of the shop, immediately. "Is anyone here?"

There was some rustling and a muttered curse from the back of the tent, and then Tomma Thunderpaw appeared from behind a stack of supplies. "Sorry, was wrestling with our youngest caracal," he says apologetically. "What can I do for you?"

Asarni's interest is piqued by the mention of a caracal; she loved all animals, and while the caracal was a bit expensive, if she had the money... Shaking her head slightly, Asarni focuses on the matter at hand. "I'd like to buy a dog, mostly for protection," she says. "What do you have in stock?"

"At the moment..." Tomma says thoughtfully, tapping the fingers of one hand against his thigh as he thinks. "We have several Dynakuvas, a couple of Helevaos Shepards, and we do have some foxes as well; not exactly dogs, but they are good for hunting."

"What is the price for a trained Dynakuva?" Asarni asks. "I need a trained animal to help keep an eye out when I go hunting."

Tomma nods. "For a trained Dynakuva, it's fifty gold mizas; they're fairly common and easy to train. The dog will know how to sit, stay, and lay down on command, as well as how to guard a tent."

Asarni considers the new information for a moment before nodding. "May I see what you have?"

Tomma smiles. "Of course. Follow me." He leads Asarni out the back of the tent, around the stacked supplies he'd emerged from earlier, and takes her back to where the animals are kept. The young woman can't help the admiring noise she makes when they pass the birds, but she makes herself keep moving. When you've got more money, she tells herself firmly. You don't have the time to train a hunting bird right now, nor do you have the knowledge. Tomma leads her to a pen with several Dynakuvas inside; there are a few young ones, just leaving puppyhood, who come up to the Drykas eagerly. A slightly older female follows them, and is followed by an adult male. Tomma points to the middle female. "That is Javrin; she is fully-trained, and a bit stubborn, but loyal. The male behind her is her father."

Asarni squats down, offering her hand to Javrin, who sniffs it for a moment before she lets her tail wag lightly, stepping forward to allow Asarni to give her a good rubbing. "I like her," Asarni says thoughtfully. "Fifty gold, you said?"

Tomma nods, but his attention is caught by the sound of an almighty crash. He swears, darting off in the direction it came from, and Asarni follows; they find a young male caracal sitting smugly in the center of several downed boxes. Asarni can't help but laugh, and Tomma shoots her a look. "If you want to spend another forty gold miza, you can have him," he says. "He's a pain in my neck."

"Young and untrained?" Asarni guesses, still smiling. Tomma nods, and Asarni makes a considering noise, moving forward until she can reach out to the caracal, offering him the back of her hand. He sniffs it, gives Asarni a mildly interested look, and then ignores her. Asarni wasn't expecting much else, and she chuckles. A couple of quick calculations tells her that she can afford the extra animal, though it will make things a little tight until she gets paid again for her work at the Healing Hoof. "I'll take him."

"Thank the gods," Tomma sighs. "I will gladly make him your problem."
