Throughout the Maw and Syka's outskirts are periodic pits that can only be described by the modern day members of the community as 'old roads'. They are nothing like Mizaharians of today have seen. Composed of tunnels that run underground, they have two odd metal parallel tracks that are secured firmly to a wooden or steel platform laid on the ground that lift the rails above the level of the ground.

In some of the more advanced mines on Mizahar, there are similar systems for moving ore into and out of mines on carts pulled by slaves or ponies. However, these 'raised tracks' are far larger in size and don't seem to lead to mines or any sort of worked cave that might have been deposits of ore. The tunnels the tracks disappear into often end in collapses, but sometimes they lead to mysterious structures underground that reveal new aspects of the old city of Pavena.

The oddest part about the rails and the road itself is that in the near dusk or dark, the rails glow with a power that's as mysterious as the purpose of the tracks themselves. It is whispered by Sykans as well that the tunnels inside - day and night - glow as well making it easy for the explorers to walk along inside without stumbling.

People are afraid to touch the metal of the rails because there are rumors that a stunning and burning sensation that can be often fatal has befallen people. Wildlife consequently have been seen dead along the tracks, burned as if they too had touched the metal unexpectedly, giving these rumors a sense of truth. For that reason, lazy hunters often walk the tracks looking for young and stupidly dead animals before they engage in more hands on hunting involving actually tracking and killing an animal.

At certain times of year, witnesses have reported sometimes seeing ghostly machines or horrible metal monsters move along the tracks, vanishing as quickly as they appear.
