Lost thoughts and lost dreams

10th Spring, 516 AV Night;

It was a simple room Vick thought as he was sitting at the bed. His feet hanging over the side as he looked at the clay cup on the table. Small candle-light flickered back and forth over the room giving him enough light to see.

He ordered the room for now until he could find a place he could call his own. It had been a few days since coming to the city and yet he did not get any type of job. Really he did not work any point in his life as he could not really count Sahova could he? Granted he worked with Masters for awhile but he was left on his own for most of it. Now he would have to try to work with someone again or under someone doing something...He was not sure as he could not think he had the skills to really do a job.

He could not even recall the time besides it was late at night. Downsides of being a Nuit was that he did not sleep. Or eat. Or do anything besides moving forward with his task at hand. Granted he was able to get a lot done in his non sleeping state over the years but at the end of the day he was bored. He still had not made any friends since coming to this new land but he was not even sure if he could make friends. They were playtoys right? At least they use to be play toys that were cast to the side broken when he was done with them. So many new things were going on now he was lost in his own head.

Items were laid around the little room at the inn he was staying in. His artifacts of the past that he could not let go of. His pale blue eyes looked at them while they laid on the ground. They were bones. Very old different bones of races that he had collected and molded over the time.

Two bones that looked like arm were of a Jamoura. They were together tied by string but had straps on them. If one would wear them together they would be able to use Flux magic on that part of the body but since he had cut the bone in half it takes a bit to really feel the power of the magic. It was a mistake to cut it in half without finding a way to boost the power but it was a learning mistake. One of many.

Next to it was a human hand that the fingers were open as if waiting for a handshake. Yet Vick knew it was a trap. That hand was much of a danger compared to a wild young mage who just learned how to burn things. It would help you with magic but at a cost of something else. It would heighten any strong emotions, especially negative ones yet it would also amplify the user djed. Just at the cost of a body part if you were not careful as the host would have to remove it otherwise if an outside force was trying it the hand would do everything it can to keep attach even digging into the skin and to the bone.

His eyes moved to another bone. It was shaped into a mask from a skull but it was a wonderful magical item that he had made. It was one of the few items he was worried about but he kept it nonetheless. When worn it emits a mild form of hypnotism that grows with time. It seemed harmless but he knew the real power of it came with time. First it would be something as a naggling feeling in the back of your head and grow until you were dead from your obsessions. It was something he kept away from but he could not leave it behind.

He just grinned as he saw his snake charm. A wonderful item he dared not to use on himself as it was still a skull of a snake with fangs. It had a mind of it’s own as it would either seek out a host or reject a host. If it rejected it the charm would poison the host. If it would accept the host it would bite into them and form to their body giving them a magical anti venom into their bodies to fight off a lot of poison from snakes. Until you removed it afterwards that could risk death.

A skull of a rabbit was at his bedside table. He called it B1R1 but it was his first item he made. Simple magic item that would heighten the sense of smell. No downsides really but it has a weak effect but he could not just throw it away as it gave me a purpose of where he came from.

Yet at the end of the day he had two items that he was really proud of. One was in the corner of the room that looked like armour almost. Well it was amour at the end of the day as it was not out of bone but metal even if it had the same sigils and his mark in them. It was the work of great minds, Rayage and Vick worked together on crafting something that pushed his magical theory in a night light mixing Alechemy with Malediction. It was first bones but they turned it into clay and once Vick had molded them and crafted them to be perfect to his child like body they turned it into a metal. It was called WarNuit and it gave him a chance at fighting on even grounds. He could still recall when Thomas was used as a test subject. Simple times he thought as he smiled.

The next item he was proud of was under his pillow of all places. Even if he did not sleep he wanted it near by but it was a necklace made out of a spine. Vick had to make something that would give him a form of protection and this was the result of that need. Anyone wearing it would have the feeling to keep him safe but it did not work well on strong mind races but Kevlics it was like a raging tide of thought to fulfil that need. Granted it did hold the downside of sapping the strength of the wearer to the point of death but it was a start.

Theses were his items. His creations as each one had a V with a circle around it as it was his sigil that formed a pact almost. This land did not know who he was but Vick was far from a simple child. He wanted to keep a low profile until he knew more of the city but he was known on Sahova as a Sahovan Master or Master of the Bones to some. A Master in the World Magic Malediction and it showed once he had the right tools.

Yet besides that he was just a nuit that could not do much he thought and it was that reason his eyes turned back to the simple clay cup. That cup would be his next task and he would spend all night working on things to make him a better person. Even if it meant going into the magical side of his powers.

He was tired of being weak and helpless. Tonight he would start working on that.

Lost thoughts and lost dreams

He had to clear his thoughts. That was the first thing he had to do before moving forward with anything else. Meditating was one of the first things Vick had to learn to try to come to terms with. It was hard to teach a kid how to meditate or at least Vick thought it was hard to learn. Really he was not taught much of it but had to just grasps at straws and work it out like most things in his lifetime.

He found himself trying to go back to it before he used any type of raw personal magic but it was a ritual to him now. As long as things were planned into action and he could take his time he would clear his mind and empty his thoughts. Did it really help that much? He thought it did and in the end that is what counted for him.

A dark room with a single candle came to mind as he looked upon the cup. Moths were his thoughts, his worry, his doubts that he carried with himself and to drive them away and cast them out for now he saw them fly towards the flame of the candle and burn away.

What would he do? It did not matter right now. The only thing that mattered was to focus on the task at hand. He was tainted in the end he knew. Life was stolen from him long ago and he was molded into who he was now but with that mold came a guide. A guide that told him what to do and when to do things. Now that he was outside of that mold he was lost.

He felt like a child again. A real eight year old boy who was lost in a market place away from his mother. Panic rose in his heart as he thought about that feeling and what it really meant. For over 100 years he was molded by beings far older and wiser and now he was alone. Along from that hand and away from Sahova.

He had to breath. In a sense but he did it nonetheless even if he did not need to. His small chest lifted and fell as his lungs pulled and pushed air from his mouth into and out of his fragile body. He just had to focus and breath. In and out and let the thought drift to the flame. It did not matter what he did down the road the only thing that could matter was that he was in control. He was in control of this night and he was fine for now. If he let panic spread and grow he would not be in control and he would not have a plan of action.

Once more his dead lungs moved pushing and pulling air in his airway and out again as that moth in his head that held the question moved closer and closer to the flame. Until at last Vick was breathing at a steady rate and slowly until his lungs and chest were dead once more.

He would worry about a plan later as for now and this night in time he was fine. Safe in the walls of his room and was in control. Tomorrow he would come up with a better long term plan but this is what he had to come to terms with first.

Would he go back to Sahova? It was another thought and another worry that he held at bay for the longest times. Would he be welcomed back or cast aside like a pluser? He was not sure of that answer but he did not leave on bad terms did he? He just packed his stuff and left as he had to leave. He did not want to waste away and forget who he was. A simple minded dream at the end but it was something he did his best to hold onto. Even if his reflection was far from what it looked like when he was human or even a nuit for the first time.

Yet like the last thought that moth moved to the flicker of the flame and the candle in his mind grew larger with light casting shadows around. It would be something he would find out again later but if he had his way it would be a long time from now.

What would he do for money? He did not need to eat but he still had to do upkeep on his body and that meant money. At the island he was cared for due to he worked and overtime he became a Sahovan Master that came with different perks but now he did not have that status.

If he could find a job or task for his Malediction skills he would not need to worry about income as it would take care of itself. Yet he had other skills that he could try to use such as drawing or craving that he learn alongside of his main craft. Granted he was not as skilled with that but he was not a novice either with that. Maybe he could get a job and learn more of that type of work while fending for himself.

Once his emotions died down from fear and worry that thought moved away as well like the others. If he could not get income with bones he would get income with his other trades. It was a plan and something that worked for now. A city of this size could hide him away and he would not need much.

Yet the idea of living in riches did come to mind. When he was human he was told of wealth and power but that never came on the island. Maybe he could find wealth here. What would he do with the wealth? He was not sure but that meant he would not have to worry on some level.

What would he do with a body? This one would not last forever afterall. Would he be able to get another body of his choice or would he had to try to do something else? That deep thought worried him to his core at the end of the day. He did his best to always take the same form. A child’s body of a male gender. Granted he would not need to worry for a season or maybe three if he was careful but it was still a thought that lingered in the depths of his mind.

Yet for now he would not worry. His current body was still fresh almost in a sense and good for now. It would work for now he thought as he let his eyes blink for the first time that day as he looked at that cup.

His mind was empty as the candles flame in his mind was alone. It was time to do something more stressing but before he was done he knew that clay cup would not be the same again. That he was sure of.

Lost thoughts and lost dreams

What was a wizard? To the person who knew nothing of magic they were gods or monsters. To the person who just started to learn magic they were unstoppable but to the ones who lived and worked with it they knew what a wizard was and what it meant to be one. Countless times Vick saw the young try to wield powers they did not know about. Other times he saw the old wizards just watch people as if they were children playing with sticks in a new found game.

To Vick however he saw something else. He saw the great gifts it could grant and what danger it would give as well. It was uncaring at the end of the day. It did not matter if you were good or evil for it you made a mistake with magic you would pay the price. Either you or the figures around you be they friend or foe.

He knew that answer would change depending on who he asked but it did not matter. He knew it was something you would not show off in public and even if you knew about the depths of it you would treat it like a weapon. Few knew that weapon however would turn and bite you or break your soul in different ways.

While Vick knew Malediction like the back of his hand Voiding was something he was still rocky about. As if it was a far away friend that only came around the place a few times for visits when the weather was perfect. While Malediction was more of a lover that always came back no matter what.

Vick wanted to try to change that balance a but he knew the depths of the risks for seeing it first hand on mages who used voiding magic. That danger of what the endless void could do and what it could bring back.

He understood that while trash and objects were sent to the void he also knew and understood things that were far older compared to him were inside and much alive. If you could survive in the Void it meant that was the only way of keeping something or someone safe as they could not kill you otherwise.

That thought alone gave him a heavyweight but he knew he would have to understand more and try to learn more of his magic. He knew the basics. He knew how to even mix it with another magic called Glyphing. Even made a scroll already but it backfired and broke so knowing the how compared to having the skill was a lesson clearly taught to him in the past.

He focused on the clay cup. The handle was dented in a few places. As if it cracked during the heating process when someone was making it. The lip of the cup was not a perfect circle now that he looked at it with detail. Yet it did not matter for it would just go away. The inn would think it went missing or someone broke it but he did not care either way.

To first open the void you had to spend countless time thinking about nothing. Vick found that in time but it was not an easy task at first. Even now calling forth that type of power was not something he did often enough. His unblinking eyes were glued to the spot where he wanted the portal.

Voiding was different in a way compared to other magic like Reimancy. Where one would gather djed to throw or mold out of the body, Voiding was more or less forcing a space open into the void with a portal. A lot of times people would do some type of ritual for themselves to get them in the mindset and in a lot of ways Vick did that as well with forcing his thoughts to clear out before tapping into his djed and pulling it forth for this task.

He still was not sure how long it really took to open a portal but time never was a care for him. He knew it would be one day but for now in this room he had all the time in the world. Just had to focus on one task and that task was sending the cup into the void.

At last the djed moved and as a sphere formed on top of the cup he felt more tired but it was done. A portal the size of his hand formed and just moved around half of the cup as it was higher in the air then Vick wanted but once it came it left almost as quickly as he cut the pull of his own magic from it.

It was just a few inches higher as he wanted it on the cup but not low enough to damage the table. Yet now just half the cup was missing in a clean cut almost as if it was never made. Small cracks lined the base but it was not enough for Vick yet. Just a bit more.

He jumped off the bed in a slow movement. Nuits were never quick it would seem. They thought quick just like humans but the reactions were just a tad slower due to the thought of moving and the body reacting to that thought. Just a few seconds one could say but it was enough to show a difference in a fight and day to day as they even spoke a bit slower Vick noticed.

He grabbed the cup and went back to the bed. This cup was going to the Void one way or the other he thought as he glued his eyes in front of him where the table is but looking above it. Pushing and pulling from the depths of his soul where he imagined his djed rested and called forth and willed it into action.

Was it quicker this time or was it due to he had a purpose once more? He was not sure as the portal flared to life in front of him closer to him then he wanted but he was not in danger yet. It was the size of his hand outstretched so a rather small portal but it held just blackness as if all light and color faded away around it.

It was a wonderful thing to study Vick thought as he lifted his hand and threw the clay cup. At once it touched the portal and nothing came out from the other side. Gone forever. Just like that and that was one of the reasons Wizards were to be feared in children stories for they could just steal you up and send you off without any sign if you living.

The portal went away again and Vick felt the drain but he was happy. He went to a goal and made that goal real. Even if it was small but even small steps in the right direction meant something right?

He would miss that clay cup he thought to himself as he smiled to himself. Maybe he would leave something behind to pay for it. Maybe.
