Yazata.

[71st of summer, 516 AV]

Life was odd.

Or rather, life in the place called Kenash, was still fairly new and foreign to one particular Ethaefal who did not quite fully adjust to what is to be his permanent home from now on.

Yazata closed his eyes, breathing deeply to calm himself. What started as him merely wanting to bathe under the familiar warmth of Syna, ended eventually -and rather impulsively- with the boy aimlessly walking, and walking, until he had lost track of where he was heading entirely. As it was soon revealed to him, it was a marshland that did not look very inviting. A little too late for second thoughts, he told himself. He had been trekking around for quite a while now, trying to see which path into the swamp would be the best option. Everywhere seemed to look the same, and he knew he could not just circle the entire area. Perhaps sneaking out and wandering beyond the boundaries of Kenash was not the wisest idea, but he was already here and if he is to be honest with himself, the seclusion was rather welcomed. He continued his walk around, eyes the color of spring staring curiously ahead at the mushy land. He really needed this short reprieve, he needed to be away from everything and everyone for at least a short while. Ever since that fateful fall, it had been one thing after the other. And who is to say, that more unexpected happenings were not headed his way? Fate was -most definitely- unkind to him currently, but the despondent youth still dared not question it.

With the occasional gusts of wind blowing against his half-clothed body, the fallen being occasionally paused to rub his arms, before picking up his slow pace again. The sky was leaden with overcast, but sunlight still filtered through gaps of space between dull grey clouds. This was, perhaps, the only way one would know that it is sometime around noon. The heels of pale bare feet dug into the loose earth below, which was a mixture of soil and half-decaying fauna. Heavily smelling of dead leaves and murky water was not a very appealing idea, but that was hardly his concern now, as the need to not get any more off course was a much more pressing matter. With tightly pressed lips, Yazata sighed internally. By some divine miracle, he would able to make his way back. If he is fortunate, which was not something he had been as of late.

Despite everything, Yazata’s trek was anything but quiet. Paying no heed to the fact that he was only getting more lost, he opted to make use of the time he was spending in his aimless walking. There is not likely to be anyone around, so why not? It started as a hum as soft as the summer’s breeze, then gradually became louder whispers of a sweet yet random tune. On and on, the boy’s singing continued as he walked further into the quagmire, choosing to think about flowers and a home far better in the sky instead of the grimly bare view ahead of him.

Snake Meeter (Ssenislin)

Yazata would (likely) be broken from his reverie by what seemed to be a giant green log next to him groaning and rising out of the water. Rivulets of water streamed down arms as wide as Yazata's torso as the massive creature rolled its shoulders, its thick back muscles flexing under its skin, groan giving way to a crocodilian rumble before a voice more reptilian hiss and growl than human said irritably "What in the world iss that unssightly whinin'?"

A quick turn that sent ripples through the water revealed a flat-nosed face with a mouth filled with jagged teeth frowning in disgust. Cruel (if currently sleepy) yellow eyes darted around briefly before fixing on Yazata and narrowing. "An interloper?"

It remained frozen like that for a full tick before lunging at the Ethaefal's legs with meaty hands the size of his head and trying to haul him into the air. "What'ss thisss that'sss sstumbled into my ssswamp?" the giant hissed with a wicked pleasure. "It'sss tiny like humanss but sso very shiny! I wonder if it tasstes good?"

Yazata.

The sound of squelching movements brought Yazata’s improvised singing to an end, and caused him to halt in place warily while his eyes looked left and right. There was no one around and when his gaze fell down to the rippling waters, the very unexpected and unlikely source of the noises was revealed. Instantly, the boy’s face wore a look that was somewhat in the middle of surprise and fear. The swamp was alive, it was MOVING. Moving and making animalistic grumbles, which did not make him feel any better about his current situation. The loose mud his feet sank into was not the only reason he remained in place. Rather, for a moment, all the wide-eyed fallen could do was freeze and stare.

This was not just a living creature. It was a massive living creature with a build that made it appear more wall than human. A single step backward was all the youth could manage, before swallowing harshly. One thing was for sure, and it was that this...gentleman...was clearly not pleased. Looking at the intensely colored eyes was unsettling, as well. “No, no, I am...Yazata, and I am just lost--” His hasty attempt to defend himself was -involuntarily- cut short.

There was only a single tick for him to process the need to escape, although that had been anything but possible. The world turned upside down when his legs were easily caught by the much larger hands, and his body hung suspended in the air. With a little yelp, he squirmed a little then hurriedly held up his hands defensively. Whoever -or whatever- this is, they were speaking oddly, but that was currently the least of the boy’s worries. “I am not t-tiny! YOU are just so big!” The protest came out almost spontaneously, before he figured out that it would be bad for him if the being decided to keep him held up like this. He was already starting to feel dizzy. “Can you p-please...kindly...put me down now?”.
