Ascen Appearance Race: Human, Inarta Gender: Male Age: 8 Birthday: Day 26, Season Winter, 507 AV Birthplace: Wind Reach Appearance: Ascen inherits the Inarta's iconic hair color of the fiery red that is short length and combed backwards. With only two of his bangs stopping just above his eyes while the left side of his head has an individual braid wrapped in a fine jade green silk that lacks any design. His eyes are about as brillaint as a soft liquid gold that shimmers with Ascen's emotion. Unfortunately Ascen is still only a kid technically so his body hasn't really developed from being a child yet. Slight musculine can be seen on his body overall with an average build going for him. Currently standing at approximately of 4'3" tall and only weighing 59 lbs. Ascen is a healthy lad that possesses no illness except for that one time when he caught a fever from being out in the snow for too long. Character Concept | Personality | Ascen has the energetic and always smiling kind of personality. Sometimes his young mind would be analyzing the situation and planning ahead of how to get himself out of his predicament due to his studies. At the same time he always sound like he knows everything to impress other people or just way too quiet when told to be quiet. The upside is that once Ascen decides to do something he follows through to what he says. Almost like once he says or promises that he's going to do something its more of a sacred vow to himself. | Morals | Ulfgar, Ascen's father, was always tough on the boy to teach him discipline and mannerism that would be equivalent to a 13 year old. Mostly because one time Ascen was being a little shit and tried to steal a cookie from the cookie jar while looking directly at Ulfgar even though Ulfgar told him no several times. Once those little fingers touched that cookie Ulfgar spanked him a few times that was both hurtful and humiliating to Ascen. Which quickly taught him that when someone tells him no either find out the reason and work around it or drop it completely. Additionally when Ulfgar is around Ascen tries his best to straighten up and does just about everything to impress his father. | Admiration | Currently Ascen's number one idol is Ulfgar mostly because Ulfgar has earned the greatest amount of respect from the boy. The other person that Ascen was persuaded into admiring was Morwen. For yes the boy has heard tales and sweet stories about the Goddess of Winter and Ice. But it's just that it is hard for Ascen to admire someone when he hasn't even seen them in person. Its not just Morwen either, any other religious person that worshiped something else has met with the same low amount of respect to their beliefs. Ulfgar actually popped the boy's mouth for talking smack about the Gods in generally, so Ascen would keep his tongue in check. However he also lets everyone know if they're on a religion conversation to not bring him into that conversation. | Religious Perspective | To be frank, Morwen does earn a lot more respect and admiration from Ascen than he gives with the other religions; but it is suspected that is because he's heard more about Morwen than he has with the others. Ulfgar tries to teach the boy of how important Morwen is to the world itself and what she has done to keep her people happy. While Ascen understands these things, he doesn't particularly worship Morwen as much as a Vantha. Then again he is a kid and most would say that he's confused on what he believes in. Theon even assured Ulfgar that Ascen would come around into worshipping Morwen, but Ulfgar personally thinks that it's just that Ascen gets too cold too easily out here in Avanthal. | Roots of a Young Tree | Ascen tends to look upon everyone that lives in Avanthal as one big family that's just branched off in many bloodlines. Of course he has a deep love for birds and in truth dreams of having the ability to soar through the skies with the birds. But he also has a deep connection that has rooted itself in Avanthal as a whole. Right now his goals is to prove himself that he can survive on his own and aims to leave a mark in Avanthal's history. Though Ascen hasn't quite figured that part out yet, but least to say that he's determined once Ascen sets his mind to it. Character History | Beginning | Not much can be told about Ascen's past other than his mother who was an Endal named Ashe Everis. His mother was able to take care and look after Ascen for a good while. Even when she was out hunting or trading Ashe would tend to bring her son along. Unfortunately, one day Ashe went out trading that took them over to the Taldera region. Ashe was trying to find something big of a fortune to bring back home that day, and find it she did. With Ascen secured on a harness that's located on Ashe's back and the child being bundled up with fur cloaks and wool scarves to keep warm. It would seem like an easy trip over to Avanthal, except for the fact that she came across an Talderan Sabertooth that was almost as big as she was. Luckily she was on her winged mount, Everis, so she had the flight advantage where she never had to touch the ground. Unfortunately they have been traveling for days and while Everis was trained to fly for extended periods of time for endurance they were still exhausted. So Everis's flight capability wasn't all that great as it normally would be. That is until Ashe both underestimated and lacked the knowledge to know better of these sabertoothes to be intelligent enough to use the environment to its advantage. Next thing Ashe saw was the darkened yellow tusks reaching for her throat before the motherly instincts kicked into high gear where Ashe sacrificed her left arm as an attempt to block the bite from reaching her. Unfortunately the beast also clawed into Everis's chest leaving a nasty wound on both of them. Using a similar tactic as a last resort, Ashe secured Ascen onto the back of Everis and told the bird to fly as close to Avanthal as possible. Then Ashe purposely fell from the eagle's back with a Talon Sword in hand. No one knows for sure what exactly happened to Ashe. But the large group of hunters set up by the Icewatch found the large eagle partially buried in snow with its wings expanded as if shielding its face from the harsh tundra. However they also found Ascen snuggled into the bird's feathered chest that wasn't covered in blood as Everis had done the last resort to keep the infant warm from the cold. This was done due to the fact that Everis is a large bird and produced a lot of heat. By blocking out the cold winds and having the infant snuggled on the bird's feathers the boy was able to keep warm even with the Wind Eagle passing away. Though Ascen was too young to remember his mother's face, so most assumed that he most likely forgotten about her for there was no clarification on who was the father. Still Ascen possessed the same affinity of his mother over archery and grew exceptionally attached with birds before any tradition even set in stone. As the boy had demonstrated when Ascen was being taught by his adopted father into the archery that the combat style came as easily as breathing air. Talking with the Inarta that occasionally visits Avanthal to trade in the Nari tongue almost came as if it was second nature to him. To Ascen it seemed rather common if not easy to learn, but due to the fact that the Inarta is usually gone by a season or less Ascen never really picked up much on the Nari tongue for they didn't have any time to spend with the boy. Though this was easily overlooked as just about every Inarta could do it, but the fact remains that Ascen seems to be gifted somewhat. Its still being observed by the supervisors as Ascen had just began his test to determine where he would fit in the most. At first Ascen was quite confused on why he suddenly had to prove himself to the village, but the young lad quickly adapted and started to help around the village so that he could get fed. Occasionally when the season allowed it, travelers would come into Avanthal and Ascen would be seen reading books or talking with the merchants; learning much of the outside world based on the tales. Additionally it seemed that Ascen also took the time to learn the Common language learnt from the merchants. At first he could only speak in a few phrases, but after practice and study he's well versed in the Common tongue. | Adopted | Ulfgar Frostfawn, a man of honor and bravery who helped participated the hunt at the Northern Wastes. Back in 509 AV during the fall to be exact; was when this hunt took place and the first day that Ascen came into Avanthal. Ulfgar was searching for the source of their dwindling numbers of Woolys, but they could not find what it was. Luckily the predator had either stopped hunting Woolys or chose a new hunting ground for the Woolys were back to normal both mentally and population wise. Ulfgar instead found a Wind Eagle, or at least it was for the large bird had recently been dead for about five chimes at a rough estimation since the death was very recent. However inside of the folds of feathery wings where it shielded off the cold, harsh weather. Was an infant boy who was already crawling around on the snow while also hugging the bird's face. Ulfgar and his group of hunters looked around for a short moment for the Endal; but they could not find where she was and they were pressed for time. So Ulfgar took the boy into his arms and wrapped the infant with a lot of fur pelts. Additionally Ulfgar hugged the boy close to provide extra body heat since the boy was obviously freezing in this weather and doesn't possess a mark of Morwen. The group made their travels back to Avanthal to report their findings to Morwen directly, and Ulfgar requested to the Leader of Frostfawn Hold to adopt the boy under his wing. Some say that Ulfgar couldn't find it in his heart to give the boy away to some Inarta or even to some traveler. Others say that its more of seeking to give this boy a life and a home here in Avanthal. That is, until Ascen's relatives come for him, but as the years had passed no such thing has happened. Additionally Ulfgar has grown quite attached to Ascen and treats him like Ulfgar's own flesh and blood. | Shifting Journey | Ascen was taught the very basics of how to use the Morphing magic by a woman that wasn't living in Avanthal. In fact this woman happened to be traveling from Ravok, and her name was Cosillia Omenu. Ascen met Cosillia when the boy was out buying some fish that he occasionally eats. The winter was quite harsh that year, but even so Ascen had to eat something. Plus it wasn't like Ascen hadn't learn to keep warm considering that he has lived through this kind of weather almost all of his life. At least as far back as he could remember. However even so it is still freezing to the marrow of his bone. Which meant that he can't stay out here for that long. "What is a cute little boy such as yourself doing out here in the cold?" A voice spoke from behind the fiery red boy as he held the fish in his hands. Ascen was a bit confused, for the voice sounded both feminine and rather flirtatious too. The only reason why Ascen is aware of flirtatious tones is because he's heard other people use that kind of tone. At least that's just his intelligence reading behind the voices that he hears. Ascen looks over his shoulder while his soft, liquid gold eyes radiate almost similar color that his eyes are laid upon. The woman that had clearly spoken to Ascen had rounded red eyes that are like two flames with her silky, straight, yellow hair worn in a ponytail with her short bangs framing her face. She was tall and has a wasp-waisted build. Although not much else could be determine from her, least to say she was very beautiful that it even made the bystanders to try to strike up a conversation with her. Something about her was also alluring, almost in a mystical way where it makes everyone to want to talk to her. "I'm just buying my dinner for the night. Why do you ask?" Ascen replied as while he is affected by this alluring part, the boy does manage to keep his logical reality in check. She simply smiled as her graceful hand parted from the snow white fur cloak and almost had that sense of motherly insight that was lingering behind her touch. "I didn't think that Inartians could live out here away from their mountain. I do apologize, its just rare that i get to see someone such as yourself so young and yet so far away." Her hand was ruffling the crimson red locks on Ascen's head while speaking, and while he could freely speak he couldn't really move. Its safe to say that Ascen has been charmed to an extent by her. "Normally people don't even bother about that kind of stuff. Though i wouldn't really know what the outside is like to be honest." The boy replied that it made the woman giggle lightly as her hand slides from the locks to the side of his face. "Would you like to visit the outside world someday child?" Her fingers were strangely warm to the touch even though it was almost ten degrees below zero as they lightly lift Ascen's chin so that his golden orbs could meet her red flames. "I don't know, it is rather interesting to explore what's on the outside of these walls, but i don't see myself going out there anytime soon." His answer seemed to have brought a smile on her face as her fair skin showed little sign of being cold. "Well that's to be expected since you're still a child and have so much to learn. As much as i want to bring your cute face along with me i sadly can't." She lightly pinched Ascen's cheek in a playful manner until something seems to have struck her interest. Whatever it was, Ascen had no clue when the woman leaned over to where her lips were only three inches from his ear before whispering. "My name is Cosillia Omenu, and if you wish to a neat little trick meet me over at the Rinti Gardens when the bell strikes at two." Little did the boy know what he was getting himself into, and worst it could later on lead into his exile from the beloved city of Avanthal. Ascen snuck out of his house and went to the cemetery just as Cosillia instructed him to. However he didn't know what was going to happen nor did he expected to turn into such a wild course of events. Cosillia had discreetly taught Ascen how to use the Morphing magic simply by meditating and instructed the boy to picture what it was like to fly as a bird. Feeling the icy wind ruffling his feathers as he was soaring through the sky in his mind. Ascen ended up morphing his fingernails, as it was the least noticeable thing that anyone would see, into exactly ten onyx black talons. All of this didn't happen in just one bell however, instead this occurred roughly four to five bells before this transformation began. Luckily all the boy had to do was concentrate a little to revert his fingernails back into its original form, but Cosillia warned Ascen on not to use it where people is watching. Only to threaten the boy that he could get kicked out of the city and be torn apart by a sabertooth. After that Cosillia seemed to have disappeared and she has accomplished what she came here to do. What plot did this woman have? It presents a symbol of a bird made of fire rising up from the pile of ashes. Reborn anew and stronger than before. Or at least that's the meaning behind the design. This pendant was said to be given to Ashe by her grandfather when she was a little girl. How old this pendant one might ask? No one truly knows other than its been passed down for a few generations now. Allowing Ascen to have a slashing, natural weapon while also improving his grip capability by using the talons to dig into the flesh or anything soft enough to puncture. Please take a look at the following issues with the CS.

1. backstory -- despite the below clarification, it needs to be clarified and flow with the backstory. i would notate how quickly the hunting party came across the dieing Great Eagle with the child. Details like this is important to make certain. This is to avoid problems in the future

2. backstory -- fixing in the future does not fix it in the CS. even an intelligent 8 year old would not have the emotional or psychological history that you are putting him out to be.

3. backstory -- If his nari is as broken as his common then nari would not be his fluent language. It is likely common would be his fluid language.

5. Morphing -- fixing it later is not going to reflect on the CS. It must be reflected on your CS how you obtained Morphing adequately and the story you have is not adequate.

1: Fixed and replaced into shortbow with the inventory and skill set. Additionally replaced the arrows accordingly.

2: Actually with the bird's feathers and Wind Eagles are large birds to begin with. They can produce a good amount of body heat if they close off the inside from the cold environment. Additionally the group that found Ascen actually found them roughly ten chimes after the bird officially died and its body heat lingered inside of the bird's embrace hence the hugging the bird's face part. Granted Ascen wasn't stark naked and was most definitely not clothed light for his mother knew better about the weather. Edit 1: Also how Ascen got to Avanthal is described in the history where Ulfgar picked the child up and carried Ascen back to Avanthal. Again I am still working this out through roleplay in a Flashback.

3: I've realized that and while I can easily fix his psychology its just that Ulfgar, Ascen's Arvinta, isn't exactly the type of guy to be soft except for animals. He's got the tough and proud atmosphere about himself. While yes Ulfgar would treat Ascen as his own son, Ulfgar would have disciplined the child to know better both intelligence wise and mannerism as well. I can dim the Common language to just a few phrases, but i'm actually going to just switch the Nari and Common language up because Ascen honestly would have little contact with the Inarta in the first place. I'd say that he picked up a few phrases of the Nari tongue for it does come easy to him, but he hasn't spent enough time with the Inarta to become truly fluent.

4: Fixed to height, 4'3", and weight, 59 lbs. Mostly because i'm taking the Inarta's short height into more effect since 4'9" is too tall for an Inarta of his age I guess.

5: The Morphing part is still something that I have planned on explaining later for yes I am aware that mages of any kind doesn't teach anyone without begging before their feet. I actually have it planned that the sabretooth that killed Ascen's mother was actually Cosillia under her Morphing state that had gone wrong and lost control it for a time. Hence insanity. Again I have not put enough facts in the roleplays to clearly say what happened and why she taught Ascen the Morphing magic as that is still unclear with everyone. Not even Ascen knows why she did it just like how only a few people knows what happened to Ashe's fate. Hence Morwen, the group of hunters, and maybe a few others that might have heard the tale. Even so most who would know about it would most likely remember the basics of finding the boy wrapped under the care of the Wind Eagle.
