84th of fall 516Av, Early morning.

Hwyn didn't care much for the staff, Byrony was pleasant enough as long as he didn't try to talk to her, she'd be a good resource to learn from as long as he remembered to stroke her ego, Olcott on the other hand was someone Hwyn was glad to avoid, for once he was happy he was Evarista's personal slave and not the slave of the manor itself, that allowed him breathing room to escape the vice grip the man kept on those beneath him.

That said it had been made obvious recently that as personal slave to Evarista their were still some skills he was sorely lacking, one of those being any knowledge of combat, he'd swung a sword a little bit but beyond that he was not one to fight and if he got caught without a weapon on hand he'd be well on his way to getting himself killed, so he'd need to amend that, he needed to be stronger, not only would it ease the burdens and expectations of the Nitrozeans but it might also help in the long run of once again having direction in his life, he felt so lost at this point in time.

One thing that Hwyn did like about Evarista were her sleeping habits she slept a tad more than him which gave him an hour some mornings to devote to himself. On this particular morning the sun was just rising and Hwyn was of the belief that Eva was still sleeping off her evening libations, though he was never sure of anything with her, if he'd learned anything about Evarista in his time here is that she was unpredictable. Either way it wasn't like he was doing anything wrong by trying to improve himself in the moments he had to himself.

His place of choice was the back garden open in the center enough so that one had a decent freedom of movement. Adopting a fighting stance Hwyn looked at himself, he remebered what he had learned in Syliras, and while he wasn't using a sword he knew that his balance was key, finding his center of balance and lowering it, if he couldn't get pushed around or knocked down he stood a better chance of not getting pushed around, and... how to throw a punch, not something he'd done to much in life, but it couldn't be that hard right? One way, the way and drunken brawler might know is to curl their fist and swing it, but... Hwyn wasn't one for muscle or brute force.. and the thought of tearing up his knuckles was unpleasant, maybe he could try what the fancier fighters in alvadas did... they used their palms didn't they... like... a hand... but with fingers curled... to make something like a paw, looking at his hand Hwyn curled his fingers back and his thumb back it looked kind of funny, but then again it felt just as alien as making a fist, maybe if he started learning like this it would feel better with time.

Pulling his arm to his hip Hwyn thought about his opponents, most anyone he was going to be fighting was probably going to be taller than himself that was just a fact of life, what this mean is that he was going to be dealing with long arms and legs that could reach him from afar, but by that same notion, big men tended to be slow, Hwyn had used this to his advantage for the purpose of escaping but for fighting, aside from his tussle with the knight, and he hadn't even come close to winning that fight. Stepping Forward Hwyn thrust his Palm forward like he was striking the jaw of a taller opponent, a hit to an exposed neck or nose, or even a groin would get him far, he had learned that it was better not to try and fight fair in a real fight.

Leading off with left hand then a right hand Hwyn punched, twice, it felt strange not having something to hit, having only his imagination to create vague targets was irritating but there was little he could do about it for now.

ffffffffff

Push-ups weren't usually hard. He started with one, then two. Once he found himself a rhythm, Ben focused on bending his elbows at a perpendicular angle as he went down. He was working out within his sense of comfort. His very own room. Why he'd work out this early in the morning of his room, he wasn't sure, but it mostly reflected around his sleeping habits. He didn't get much sleep, though he would get enough just enough, to get by. He needed to make sure that he was fully refreshed before he would strain his body to a point of exertion. It's not good for the human body (or any other personal) to be stressed and overexerted due to fatigue and exercise.

Three, four. Yes, he's getting better, the more training he puts in, the more he'll be able to endure. Practice makes perfect. You can't get better by doing nothing. After all, what good is it if you wouldn't be able to defend yourself? How well would a person with a weakened physicality sustain in a combative scenario? What will happen to that being who failed to work at their fitness? Five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. He wasn't done yet. He'd rather work out all day than do what needs to be done. Ben felt like he had to do something today, but he figured that whatever needed to be done, he could postpone. Whatever needed to be, it can always wait. It won't go anywhere. The Nitrozian rested after doing five more push-ups. His arms were still in the "up" position, not shaking yet. The man can last just enough after twenty push-ups daily. Every morning he works out, he usually intends for the session to last half a bell at least.

Stretching is important as well. Your body needs to be stretched to avoid any mishaps of your body during work outs or even fighting. He finished his twenty push-ups. Now, he was ready to start training with his short sword and shield. He usually goes to the gardens for that. He always had his shield and sword perched up against the wall, close to his mattress. There was a knock on his door as he was just getting up.

"Eh, who the petch is it?" Barked Benare wiping his forehead with a cloth. The knocking stopped and Ben smirked.
"I'm here to gather your yesterday's clothes." A voice said. It was Byrony. The Nitrozian sighed. He stepped towards the door and turned the knob, the door greeted Byrony with a creak and a moan as Ben slowly and yet cautiously opened the door. He was unsure why Byrony would be awake this early in the morn, but with slaves, you don't really know what goes on with their other lives. Slaves are devoted to their masters, and Ben figured that someone requested him. Though, he could be wrong.

"No one needs to see me this early?" Asked Ben inspecting Byrony. The Nitrozain placed a hefty hand on his hip in disgust.
"No-no." Byrony replied wavering her hands. "I just need to wash your clothes." She said. Ben eyed her cautiously.
"Well, wait here." Ben went over to fetch his yesterday's clothing that he'd worn. Unfortunately, he had spilled something on his shirt. Well, it's not unfortunate for him. He won't have to clean it. He smirked at Byrony as he handed her the clothes. "Take them and leave for fuck sake." Benare scoffed he just handed them to her and she left. Benare didn't really care how she felt. She was her slave, and he was sure of that. Hadn't she been a slave for the Nitrozian's since her birth? He couldn't quite remember, but once the girl left, Ben slammed the door shut.

He walked back towards his short sword and shield. Ben wore simple clothing, just the cotton tunic and cotton pants. He sighed, picking up his weapons. He decided to make way for the Gardens outside the Nitrozian Estate. The Ravokian breathed in the city air slowly. The feeling of Rhysol's domain embracing you felt good and relieving to know that his influence still exists. The Nitrozian hurried his way over to the gardens.

------------

He noticed a younger boy out and about. He didn't look like he was tending the gardens. Benare was notified of a new slave, but he wasn't family owned, well he was, but he wasn't family slave, more so a personal slave to Evarista. Benare growled at the name, she was more of the snarky side of his siblings and sibling rivalry was something that Benare disapproved of. She has to be around here somewhere? What was this slave wearing though? His clothes looked feminine. Almost like he was wearing a dress of some sort. Ben didn't focus too much on the appearance of people, but this young man wore something utterly discomforting. Well, in the eyes of Benare Nitrozian, the clothing that that young man wore didn't suit his style and it burned his eyes just to look at the dress looking piece of clothing.

As he examined the boy from afar, Ben noticed specific movement. Like he was throwing invisible punches at the open air. He sighed and shook his head, Ben was no more than half a mile away from the boy.

He started to walk up to the younger man. He wasn't doing this stealthily as he had not intention to want to be stealthy at this point of time. It wasn't even necessary either.

"You fighting thin air boy?" Asked Benare studying the young boy. He looked like a boy, but his hair was awfully long like a woman's hair would like. "You won't learn anything by fighting nothing."

Tête-à-Tête ‎

Tête-à-Tête ‎

The Nitrozeans were a varied bunch, at least from what Hwyn had seen, each of the children had their own personalities though they all tended to have some sort of vice, or curiosity, though that was true of all people really, it was just a slightly more pronounced case with them, since they were all allowed to indulge their different "hobbies". That said Hwyn was allowed to dress to his preference so such a thing didn't disturb him too terribly. That said he was again glad that he sworked for Eva and was not beholden to anyone else beyond was was polite.

However as Hwyn was practicing a voice caught his attention and shook him from his thoughts. the man approached with a quick enough pace and a swagger that belied a large ego not that it was Hwyn's place to judge but at the very least the man's aura of confidence along with were they were was enough to inform him that the man was a Nitrozean. He was also more than a foot taller than Hwyn, though such a thing did not bother him too particularly much.

Turning to the man Hwyn bowed in greeting.

"Good M-morning milord. And while it may not be ideal.... even shadow b-boxing gives me a chance t-to improve myself.. I do Hope that I'm not interrupting your morning sir."

It was best to approach any Nitrozean with due caution, their volatile tempers varied and Hwyn found that stepping lightly tended to be the safest route for any interaction with them. The man carried on him a shield and sword, the items favored by knights, so perhaps he favored himself a warrior, something Hwyn would have to be wary of, next to that he had the issue of figuring out what the man wanted, he was new to the mansion but rumors surrounding him and his actual gender were already floating about the manor, it didn't help that he'd already irritated one maid because someone at the manor had called him prettier than her, not that Hwyn minded being informed he was pleasant to look at, but at the expense of making enemies it was an irritating issue. Either way Hwyn was not slave to the man before him but in Eva's absence he would do well to comply with any requests the man might have for him.

Well either way his training was interrupted for the time being so that was a mild irritant, though, it was hard to call it training in the first place considering he was not too terribly sure of what he was doing to begin with, it was too say the least a mildly irritating quandary, though it wasn't something he felt comfortable bothering Evarista with, he still wasn't terribly comfortable confiding in her his woes or worries. She was nice enough but he did not know how she'd react to him telling her he wanted to learn how to fight. Though training in secret might not be the best way to go about it either, she'd told him not to lie to her. It seemed that there really was not an easy solution.

"Good M-morning milord. And while it may not be ideal.... even shadow b-boxing gives me a chance t-to improve myself.. I do Hope that I'm not interrupting your morning sir." It was a males voice for sure, though of course his outfit did not suit the older man, Benare felt strongly about the boy's clothing. If the boy ever needed anything fashionable, he could always come to see Benare Nitrozian, the man studied the younger boy, his shield weighed heavier than what the Ravokian had wanted, it was beginning to tighten up his arm, almost like the strap was twisting it, Ben sighed, it looked like the slave wasn't trying to get on his bad side, so he decided to give the boy the benefit of the doubt, though he knew that Evarista owned him personally by the rumors of the maids and slaves, it wasn't like Evarista to own her own her slave.

'On the contrary, when you shadow-box, you won't learn anything about your opponent, not that way, but if you tend to practice on an actual being, you'll learn other's weaknesses." Benare paused, studying the form of the younger man's stance. "Please." He began, looking at Hwyn at his eyes. 'Just call me Ben," it was something that Benare displeased of when people were being formal about his appearance. "I don't need you to show me any formality. I'm not like my other siblings." Ben snorted, eyeing Hwyn carefully, it was always good to be cautious. "By the way boy, whats your name?" Ben asked carefully, eyeing the young man with ease, he wasn't sure or not if he was intimidating, but his intentions were to not, the Ravokian took a few steps back to give the boy some space, Ben was always giving people their personal space, he did not enjoy when people groped him, whilst being so very very close.

The Ravokian lowered his shield and sword down to the ground, he figured that if he and Hwyn could train together, he might be able to produce a good enough relationship between them so that he could get at Evarista, he didn't trust his siblings. Though, none of them particularly trusted him either, a lot of sibling rivalry goes between the family. Ben had figured training this boy would not only benefit Hwyn, but it'll give Benare a reason to investigate why Evarista would choose a being like this young man here to be her personal slave, what does he have that Evarista needed? Benare would figure it out, he should know, he hopes to trust Hwyn.

"Try aiming for my chest. Clench your hands, into fists and then try to strike. You want your arms to bend perfectly, well, as best you can, it's not as tough as it seems, just believe me when I say that." Ben stood firmly in front of Hwyn, he waited for the boy to punch him, whether he'd do it or not, if he chose not to do it, then the training wouldn't continue, and Hwyn wouldn't learn anything, this is the boy's chance to learn fighting. If he's willing to learn, then he must need to practice as it will help him in the future.

Not only is he choosing to train Hwyn, he also yearned a training partner and figured that if Hwyn wanted to learn, then he'd be able to have his partner. Training with someone else is always more interesting than training alone. You won't learn a lot if you train by yourself. You can though, earn a lot of muscle if you tend to work out, working out will improve your strength and ability to fight. The more your practice, the better you'll be.

Tête-à-Tête ‎

The man was odd, informal, and gruff. Hwyn narrowed his eyes as the man talked, the man had told him to drop the honorifics but he didn't like the idea of being overheard being overly familiar with anyone beyond Evarista. that said he would not do to be impolite either so he'd have to find some sort of middle ground for the man. the man told him he'd learn nothing from shadow boxing that he needed to learn his opponent's weaknesses. Fighting was weird Hwyn decided then and their, not something he thought he could learn, but he would try and learn if the man was willing to give him tips. That said the man was sizing him up as he approached and hwyn felt it was a safe wager to say the man didn't like what he was seeing, it really did feel like he must have been interrupting something for the man. Further than that the way the man eyed his clothing spoke of disapproval, it was a look he occasionally got, most people had accepted him as female within the estate, his waif frame and lilting soft voice along with the fact that Evarista tended to have him dressed as a girl. Not that He minded but those who knew the truth tended to be wary around him, not that he cared all that much, as log as Evarista wished something of him he had fairly free reign to pursue whatever it was. So at the very least he could be confident that the man wasn't going to harass him about that. Or at least if he did he could't do anything about it.

"My Name is Hwyn Sir Benare. It's pleasant to make your acquaintance."

Clenching his fist as told Hwyn furrowed his brow, was it ok to strike at the man? Hwyn really didn't like the idea of attacking a Nitrozean, but he'd been told to do so right? clenching the fist Hwyn dashed in at the man throwing a punch at his center with his left arm. the idea was to come in low, the man was more that a foot and a half taller than he was so while the man might have reach on him Hwyn's small size could work in his favor if he played his cards right he would beable to go under whatever defences the man used.

Hwyn's only prior experiences with combat where the couple scrapes in Sunberth, that said this wasn't a time when he could just fight unfairly and go for the groin or something. so he'd have to try and fight fair. What more was their to take into consideration, Hwyn didn't know how good a fighter was before him so approaching with caution seemed wise. It would not serve him well to be try and be bold only to get smacked around, that said he didn't want to punch the man all out... it seemed like if he accidentally harmed his opponent. He could face some serious trouble. However he somehow doubted that a full force punch from him could do all that much damage to the man.

The boy appeared to be nervous, why would he be nervous, especially around Ben, the Nitrozian isn't like any other formal Nitrozian, he's not like Evarista, though Ben thought he heard some rumors being spread about her around the Nitrozian Estate, but he could be entirely wrong, he wasn't so sure what was going on with Hwyn, but with his sudden branding by Ben's sister, it probably made him uncomfortable to be around another Nitrozian, that's the conclusion that Benare came up with, at least that's what he thinks. Otherwise, Hwyn might be nervous about something else entirely, which Ben could be highly respectful of, he won't make Hwyn feel like he can't stand up for himself, so if there's something wrong about him teaching Hwyn at this time, well, he wouldn't call it teaching, showing... more or less, Ben was only showing Hwyn some fighting techniques that he could use to defend himself of, especially whenever he'd find himself within a dark alleyway.

Ben nodded, looking at Hwyn, the boy appeared to be hesitating, but he wasn't sure why. "C'mon boy, strike, it's alright." He said eyeing the young man with a cocked brow, Ben wondered what the boy might do, how will the boy react? Benare still couldn't get over the fact of the boy's dress attire, sure, if it's what Evarista wished, but she's taking away the boy's dignity if he's to dress like a girl, after all, he's only like what- fifteen, sixteen? However old Hwyn was, it wasn't right what Evarista was doing, Sitanos, his father, would still define his slaves as men or women, not men dressing up as women, though... that would be kind of funny to see.

Ben observed the boy's throw, left arm. Ben ran some scenarios in his head, he figured that if he reacted quick enough he'd be able to grab the boy's fist and quickly turn his arm around, only so that the boy's arm would crack, not so that it would break, well at least Ben hoped not, otherwise he could cover the expenses. He flinched, but his arm went up and managed to just barely stop Hwyn from hitting his abdomen, Ben tilted his head and just as quickly, turned around, and pressed Hwyns arm against his back, his arm would feel uncomfortable, but it was a good thing to learn. Ben stayed in this position, "now, how do you think you could escape this position?"

It was probably his own fault, if he'd attacked with any real intent to do harm he probably would have hit harder as it was his clumsy attack had been slow enough to be intercepted. Feeling his shoulder pop as his arm was wrenched behind him he grimaced, this wasn't what he'd had in mind at all when he had thought about practicing fighting. punching and kicking were one thing but grappling Hwyn knew even less about. What Hwyn did have on the man was his lithe frame and small size made it a bit easier to get loose when someone much larger was grappling him. That said He didn't want to risk breaking his arm to get out of the lock. Flexing his left arm Hwyn found that the man’s hold on his wrist wasn’t terribly tight and that the man’s stance was hardly any better than his own. If Hwyn was comfortable with fighting dirty against the Nitrozean he’d have immediately gone for the groin, as it were such a move would likely have repercussions, so a smarter solution needed to be found.

When the man asked him how he thought he could escape the position he frowned, usually teeth and fingernails were the answer but he’d try and think logically about this one, the man had rolled his arm and shoulder in a circle so one way would be too…. Circle the other way? That said Hwyn was no gymnast and flipping out of an arm lock while probably effective, was beyond him. Hwyn chuckled lightly, a momentary flash of inspiration said he could try and seduce his way out of such a hold, but then again anyone who had you in this sort of hold wasn’t likely going to be terribly easy to flirt with, even if it was an amusing thought. That said there was a huge difference in size between Hwyn and Ben… if Only he knew how to use it against him, the man’s groin was at the small of his back, putting it in perfect range to catch his right elbow, but again that was a last resort. There was also the fact that Hwyn’s head was below the man’s chin, if he jumped straight up he might be able to damage his jaw and stun him at the risk of bruising his own head. Finally he found the idea he wanted to go with.

Maybe he could knock him backwards. Stepping between the man’s legs Hwyn hooked one of his feet through the man’s legs and slammed his butt and hips into the man using his forward leg to push the man backwards and knock him to his back, unless that man let go of Hwyn he wouldn’t have much to catch himself with. One thing Hwyn decidedly didn’t like about this was that he was tangled with the man and would fall with him, so if they hit he’d have to scramble to get back up again before the man.

Beyond that Hwyn wondered just what the deal with the man was, his behavior and patterns were odd.

Benare had always practiced, mostly every morning, he'd go out and practice with his sword, his short sword to be exact, or he'd practice his unarmed combat, whilst his siblings would go out and focus on their sales and wondered whether or not they'll make enough coin, Ben didn't focus too much on his earnings, it wasn't something he figured he need, but he does have a family resource where at times he'll come and take a withdrawal, if needed. Though, Ben was of course different then his other siblings, he's not so sure about the others; but, he was sure that they mostly cared about their wealth and resources, if Ben had any sense of income, he wouldn't take it for granted.

Now, when he'd practice about with himself; he wouldn't have to worry about anyone else around him, everyone else within the Nitrozian estate, the slaves in particular, had their own things to do, and mostly the other Nitrozians had their days set out for them, but Benare couldn't figure out what to do with himself, he figured that he could become a mercenary for the Nitrozians, though, he wasn't sure how father would fair, if he found out that one of his sons were risking themselves just for nearly ridiculous tasks.

The Nitrozian snapped back to reality, his grip was fairly tight on the boy's wrist, but he wasn't prepared for what was to come, oh how he should've been paying attention, he merely ignored the boy's chuckling prior to the boy's escape of Ben's grasp. The Ravokian stumbled back a bit, he was puzzled at the boy's strength, he figured that he shouldn't have given Hwyn the benefit of the doubt, what was he supposed to do, the boy was frail looking, about a head shorter than he was, thin mostly. Benare grew weary of the boy, there was some unseen strength inside of him that Ben didn't see, but that didn't mean he should not continue to fight. Ben was never aware of the scars around Hwyns torso, as it was covered by the dress, the dress was revolting, how could any man where such a thing? If Hwyn was Ben's slave, he wouldn't ever have Hwyn dress like that, Benare would let his slaves dress as he wants, but if it were a personal slave... that's a whole different explanation.

"You've fought before, haven't you?" Asked Benare looking at the boy, he must know, "but, you've never trained?" He added looking at the boy. The boy is just too weird, but Hwyn had something in him to make him believe that he could fight back, something that kept him going, of course if it meant life or death, one wouldn't just simply forget. Ben raised his fists, "okay, now I'll be throwing a punch, occasionally, one wouldn't be informing you, but this is just... a way to learn." Ben thrusts his right hand, it was clenched into a fist, and he aimed low, making sure to note Hwyn's reaction. Ben would be ready, for whatever Hwyn throws at him. Of course, no giving him the benefit of the doubt, it's a distraction. Mostly....
