Erruukh would be pleased to see such a sight.

Rhodri was sweating from head to toe and exhausted. His stubble had grown into a tangled mess and his hair was even worse with a few stray locks covering his deep, penetrating stare. The small walking caravan that had taken Rhodri on as a hired hand was nearing Riverfall but tensions were quite high. The exiled castaway was naïve to what was in the crates that they ushered and he bore no need to pry. Having been treated in the manner which he had on the ship left the arrogant young man in a state of clouded oblivion. He was told to lead the oxen along behind the second wagon and to maintain a distance of no more than fifteen feet.

The Eypharian was filthy. His boots were covered in mud and dung, pants stiff from the incessant cycle of wet and dry which was perpetuated by his constant battle with dehydration. Rhodri had never worked so hard for so long without any kind of break or reward. It seemed that there was no goal; no purpose to the endless trudging. The water was always stale and warm but when your throat felt like the Burning Sands that didn’t matter. His skin was a combination of sticky and hot as the dirt and grime built up on his sweat then dried to a weird tack. One of the more seasoned adventurers called it ‘walking glue’. The greasy-looking fellow had rotten teeth, a constant need to smile and breath that made the oxen cringe. Thus, to say, when he approached Rhodri and began to rub the natural adhesive from his arms and hands into little balls while laughing uproariously, the Eypharian felt his stomach tilt then pitch back in the opposite direction.

When the ugly little man began to throw these pilled up globs of filth at Rhodri, the large man lost it. The arrogant young man threw down his reins which halted the caravan as the oxen would not walk unless led. The fire in his dark brown eyes was an inferno of pain and confusion as well as raw, seething hatred for the scum that stood before him. The man just kept flicking his arm boogers at the much larger and seemingly stronger Eypharian as if he didn’t have a care in the world. The exile exploded. He bent his knees and dug the balls of his feet into the ground; the soles of his boots flung dirt as he gained traction. He used his middle arms as the initiation and sent both hands flying forward to grasp the man’s shirt collar. Picking up speed with long strides, Rhodri easily lifted the man into the air with the aid of his lower hands which had latched onto a pant leg respectively. The top set of hands rose up with fists like hammers that came crashing down in the face of the wretch; the blow from this setting off a chain reaction. The middle set threw the man back as the top arms came down. This was devastating enough but when the lower hands lifted up at the same time as the rest, it sent the two-armed human into a backflip that was driving his head down towards the earth. To cap it all off, Rhodri kicked out and planted his large foot squarely against the man’s neck and shoulder which made him look a bit like a rag doll as he crumpled into a heap a few feet away from where the aristocrat had stopped his run.

Rhodri stood triumphantly as several of the other men gathered around. The look on his face was smug, arrogant and righteous. His dark eyes issued challenges to any other takers. In this moment, the Eypharian felt invincible. He began to turn slowly to take stock of who was watching and also to size up any would be takers based upon their facial expressions. That’s when he heard it. The sound of dirt moving and of hands dusting off a set of old leather breeches which was then followed by a gentle rattle which one might think used to be a laugh of some kind. The young racist turned on his heel to see his opponent slowly rise to a full stance. The man was even dirtier than before and had blood running from a few minor scrapes and lacerations on his head and arms.

“Not bad, kid. Too bad you rich folks don’t know shyke ‘bout scrappin’.” The voice was hushed but held ten times the weight. Rhodri didn’t know what to think and worked quickly to erase the surprised look from his face. It was too late, however, as some of the other men began to rumble with whispered laughter and the sound of coin bets clanked somewhere in the distance. The Eypharian bent his knees to lower his center of gravity. His arms fanned out in a very aggressive manner. He had reach, the power of numbers and wasn’t half as banged up as his opponent. Rhodri smirked as he thought about how good it will feel to grind this chump into dust.

The smile quickly faded. The smaller man ran up and ducked under Rhodri’s first two attempts at crossing blows. The Eypharian rocked back still trying to keep his posture coil and loose. He turned his hips a bit to favor the power into his right side to match the man across from him. Rhodri swung left, left, right, left, right and yet he never made contact. It was like this guy knew where the punch was going to be as soon as the Eypharian threw it. After several rounds of this dance that felt like an ever-building letdown, Rhodri was feeling something he did not recognize. It sat in his gut and shook his spirit while making his arms and legs feel heavy. His throat had dried ages ago but his skin was chilled. It was fear. White knuckle, blurry vision, voices in your head screaming at you –fear.

The dingy human saw this emotion present itself in the brown eyes and unleashed his attack. He slipped under the high and wide strokes of Rhodri to deliver two and three punch combos to the body and legs of the tall Eypharian. In a chime, he had the young man breathing hard and struggling to keep his arms up. The old man moved so quickly and every attack or block even the retreats that Rhodri made seemed to be predictable to this human. Fists were starting to fall like rain on his body and arms as well as the occasional blow to the face or head. This went on for seven or eight chimes but it felt like an eternity to the one on the receiving end. There was an uppercut which made something in his abdomen snap and Rhodri folded like a tree beneath a mudslide. His face was level with his attacker and the young man looked up through a swollen eye with blood on his lips and his arms cradling the immense pain radiating from his gut. He mouthed the word ‘please’ but all he got in return was a knuckle sandwich that turned his world black.

14th Bell

When Rhodri woke up, he couldn’t see out of his right eye and everything hurt. He was barely aware of what was happening around him as sounds, sights and smells all seemed far away like he was tied up in a dream. There was a sound like a chain in the distance and the animals were called to a halt. The Eypharian tried to stand but found himself bound at the wrists –all six of them- and then around his waist. He began to struggle but felt something inside him rub and the pain seemed to rouse him further. The young man was bound to the back of a wagon with his arms bent over the sides and his feet dragging. The ropes around his midsection kept his weight from pulling him down but it also rested against the broken piece within thus applying constant pressure and leaving him to writhe in agony.

The ugly man who issued his beating walked up and behind him, Rhodri could see the makings of a river crossing with barges on chains. “Oy, lad. You’re finally awake.” The rotten teeth and foul breath came very near to the beaten man. “We took some coins from ya for drinks on the other side…hoe ya don’t mind.” He gave Rhodri’s side a good wrap with his fist. Spit flew from the crack and dried lips of the aristocrat as the man welled up making his whole right side throb. “We ain’t gonn’ kill ya but we ain’t takin’ ya wiff us, either.” The ugly man started to untie Rhodri who instantly started to struggle. All that did was earned him another shot to the ribs and an elbow to the head which dazed him into a state of half-consciousness.

The man walked away and dropped Rhodri’s belongings on the ground nearby. In an effort to reach his things, the Eypharian simply collapsed on his bag as his hands searched for his weapons. All the while, people came and went and most paid him no mind. He had never felt so alone or defeated in his life. Rhodri was not a praying man and so he asked for no favors. After fifteen chimes, he was able to drag his beaten form and humble pack off to one side of the wide road. He propped up against a sign that he didn’t bother to read and closed his eyes. He drifted in and out vaguely aware of what was going on around him. In a cough, he uttered one word. “Petch.”

And So It Begins...

Riverfall was beautiful. The moment the city came into view in the morning light she knew this to be true. That she had made the right decision in not making a home in Syliras. It had been a very tempting thought, to get off the ship from Alvadas and take up roots in the first city she had ever seen beyond her home. It was only about a fortnight or so from Alvadas.

It was only two days into her stay when Claire decided that the city itself did not fit. To stay in Syliras meant to live within the city itself. She had toured some of the permanent residence while visiting and it had irked her outright that she wouldn’t even get a window that would allow her to see the sky. She was a bird of prey—it just wasn’t a feasible to live without the sky. And while the city outside it’s gates was decent, there were not enough trees nearby.

Without winter the Kelvic knew she couldn’t entirely judge a wilderness on looks alone. Everyone was suffering the effects of the lack of snow and cold, but Syliras was trimmed for farmland. She could have easily survived—a city of such size and mixed of so many races would have had much to teach her.

It would have been a crutch.

The idea of failure was not one Claire often fretted over. Partially because it meant she could go home and try again. That her mother would be there to encourage her. And that was no longer possible. Home was now an empty space, but it still held appeal even against her best efforts. Failure meant she could hop on a boat and go back without ever really needing to try. The Kelvic needed to do this for herself, without the need of pretty words to push her.

So she pressed herself back onto a ship heading for Riverfall. Boats were not not the most pleasant experience, but it needed to be done. The first time she had gotten on a boat from Alvadas she had been sick for days. Her gnosis did little to assist her against the swelling tides that rocked the boat, and she didn’t dare try to fly. Losing the ship while in the air wasn’t an option—she was built for power not speed. Not to mention she didn’t know how to swim…

The second time she hadn’t faired any better. It seemed the longer she remained on a boat the worse it got. She eventually had to take up napping on the deck during the day just to get some rest and fresh air. So the moment Riverfall became visible, there had been nothing but relief and joy that filled her body.

It seemed getting rid of her sea legs however was going to be harder than she thought. Every step she took made the world pitch as if she was still on the boat—and the nausea had yet to abate. It was a last resort really, taking to the air. The moment she negotiated for her room her things were tossed haphazardly onto the bed, clothing stripped from her body. Thinking back on it she had probably been quite the sight—a naked woman rushing from her room, tipping back and forth as if she were drunk.

In the air however, things were easier. Perhaps it had all been in her head, the residue effects from the boat. With the wind pressing against her breast and lifting her higher into the air, Claire felt no nausea or dizziness. Just the world laid bare before her. She could pick out the lines of the city, where streets met the bay and the walls guarded the inhabitants inside.

Not to mention there was a beautiful orchard just lying on the other side of the wall. Claire soared over the expanse so low that if she wished, she could have outstretched her talons and caught the tops of the trees. It was an exhilarating joy that she hadn’t felt since her mothers death. It had been far too long since she had enjoyed simple flight.

In her view, between the orchard and vineyard, she could make out the road that led directly into the city itself. It merged with another road that actually crossed the river. There were no bridges, but Claire could make out the boats crossing from one side to the other. It was a building in the far off distance that attracted her however. Claire’s sharp eyesight could make out the multitude of different plants growing, however she was much too far away to properly make out the different kinds. So she tilted her wings and twisted her tail to take her towards the building.

As she dropped low, her body swung out from beneath her as she used wings to abruptly slow her forward progress. Her talons found purchase in the roof of the conservatory, and Claire folded her wings to her body as she took in the beautiful spread below her. Her short knowledge of herbology gave her an idea of some of the plants, but most of them were foreign to her. A different type of thrill filled her at the thought of learning from this place… once she was settled.

She took several chimes to rest, breathing in the new air of the land around her. The Kelvic wasn’t made for soaring like she had taken to, not like most other birds. She was a powerhouse in this form—short bursts and twisting through the trees was what she was made for. Soaring took more energy given her weight. But she couldn’t stay at the conservatory all day… no matter how tempting it was. This would be easy to find again. The city itself would be harder for her to memorize. Not to mention she was going to need a job and fast. Claire was very aware how short on funds she was.

Letting her weight pull her forward, she spread her wings and took back to the air. This time she did not let the wind pull her high up into the air, instead she remained lower—closer to mid tree line level. Heading in the direction of the road, she figured she could get a good view in case the weather ever prevented her from visiting through flight. She’d have to cross the ferry of course if she took this route by land, but she imagined she could handle short bursts on a boat better than she had sea travel.

The road wasn’t terribly busy, but there were carts and groups of horses traversing the road both to and from the ferry. It seemed all very common and casual as she observed the road. Except for one rather small detail.

Well he was actually fairly large even by her eyes, but it seemed only a detail she seemed to notice.

People passed by him as if he wasn’t there. Perhaps it was an occurrence that happened often enough that people were no longer bothered by it. Or maybe it wasn’t something that they wished to get tangled into. Either way, as Claire came to land on the top of the sign the man was lying under, it was clear he wasn’t just a man who had drunk himself into a stupor beneath a sign.

He was dirty, making it difficult even with her impeccable vision to make out what might be bruise or dirt. It was very obvious however that his face was swollen, especially around his right eye. Either the man had taken a very bad tumble down a hill that—well didn’t exist—or he had taken a beating by someone. She was going with the latter.

Spreading her wings, Claire let herself float to the ground, turning her tail upwards at the last minute to land heavily on the ground next to the man. She clicked her beak together several times in an almost nervous fashion before she took to shifting. A flash of light came and went and Claire brushed herself off out of habit rather than need before she dared to slowly approach the man. There was no telling if he was even conscious, and the last thing she needed to do was startle him. Crouching in front of him, just out of reach, Claire realized something she had missed from above. Something she really should have noticed…

The man had six arms.

The Kelvic stared at the man in shock for nearly a chime. She had never seen anything like this before… never even heard of a race that would have so many appendages. While the rest of him looked entirely human—though probably much taller than the average man—his arms took her entirely off guard. Shaking her head she pushed the thoughts aside that tried to figure just how his body must have been configured, beneath the skin to the bone, to be capable of sustaining so many arms. Care first, investigation second.

“Sir?”

Rhodri was aware of his pain. He was aware of the injuries and the unpleasant state of only being able to see out of one eye. At first, he swung at the big bird as if to shoo it away. There was no way he was sharing what little he had with a petching animal. He tried again but fell over on his side. He used his three arms to move his torso back into an upright position and it was none too soon for the bird became light which revealed a naked woman. His hands fumbled for weapons and found nothing since he was too weak to truly search his pack. His face was pointed at her so his one good eye could take in the spectacle that had just occurred.

As fragments and glimpses started to form a picture, Rhodri realized that the greyish bird was not just any animal but also a beautiful woman. The Eypharian was confused and began to think he had absorbed one hit too many. He closed his eye and sat back against the sign with the resignation that he had made a dreadful miscalculation of his own abilities. Maybe if I sit quietly long enough, the naked mirage will just go away. He thought but then she spoke. The beaten man opened his eyes again and stared at her with a bit more intensity this time. He was more awake and slowly catching on to the situation in greater detail. It was hard to focus, in general, but when he could ingest more of his present circumstance it came in the form of a tiny figure with caring eyes, long flowing hair and a mark on her face. At least a half a dozen times, his eye wandered up and down the body of light muscle and smooth skin. Rhodri hadn’t bathed in quite some time and he thought he smelled wretched but the feast for his eye had sent his pheromone glands into production. Being weak and slightly dehydrated kept his appealing aroma of vanilla and sandalwood from pouring out in its normally overpowering waves but even the hints of the Eypharian’s pleasant aroma would eventually overtake his staleness.

His throat was parched but the aristocrat offered a few words though he automatically used his native tongue of Arumenic. “As much of a good time as you may be, I need a healer not a harlot.” The big frame shifted against the signpost which made the big man wince. His golden skin flickered with a dingy coating of sediment. The state of filth caught his attention and the desert brat made feeble attempts to dust himself off. After a few moments, Rhodri would realize that she would not have understood so his futile efforts to clean himself would cease. With a huff brought on by frustration and lingering soreness, the young man would address the naked woman in front of him once more. He felt he pulse of excretions from his neck as the gentle curves and flirting shadows consumed his limited sight. “Mbene shure, I need help.” He coughed a few times but quickly got it under control. “Don’t just stand there.” His brow lowered but only a bit. Being seated and roughed up virtually eliminated his prowess and intimidation.

Claire couldn’t help but wince slightly as her eyes wandered up and down the poor man’s form. He seemed to be reaching for something, though there wasn’t anything nearby. While his one good eye appeared to be fixed on her, Claire wasn’t entire sure if he actually had vision out of it. Given how swollen his other eye was, for all she knew he had nothing blurs crossing his field of view. After the man failed to find what he was looking for, he seemed to just succumb to exhaustion and let himself fall back against the post with eyes closed. Claire frowned for a tick before she inched closer.

Carefully, so as not to jostle the man by accident, she lowered herself to her knees and folded her legs beneath her. The ground dug into her bare skin, but it was merely uncomfortable for the time being. He seemed awake however, watching her again so the raptor took this to be a good sign. Consciousness was always easier to tend to, and while he was certainly roughed up, at first glance it appeared as if nothing was broken—at least nothing major that would require immediate attention.

Her nose picked up what her eyes had already decided. The man was dusty and hair rather scraggly looking. It had probably been awhile since the man had bathed—understandable since he was seated on a road leading into the city. She knew all too well what it was like to not have access to simple things such as enough water to clean. Yet there was a rather pleasant scent as well, that hadn’t been there when she had first begun to approach the man. It caused a slight foggy feeling in the back of her head, but the Kelvic huffed and shook her head slightly in an attempt to rid herself of it.

Just as she began to lean over the man however, he spoke. It sounded rough and thick, but that wasn’t the reason she couldn’t understand him. Apparently the man spoke something she had never heard before. Not entirely uncommon in her line of work, but it made her brow furrow slightly as she tilted back onto her heels. For all she knew the man insisted that she not touch him. As much as she desired to take care of him, it was nearly impossible when someone refused help. So her eyes instead moved to watch the man try and clean himself off—with little success. Her left eyebrow rose slightly before she looked back at his face. He didn’t honestly think that he could just brush off the dirt did he?

And then common tongue flowed off his lips.

A gentle sigh escaped her own as Claire did her best to smile lightly at the man. He obviously wasn’t pleased, but injury tended to lead people to be rather unpleasant. Holding up her hands—partly to show the man she had nothing in them—she pressed one into the ground next to him to steady herself and the other hovered near his injured eye.

“Patience.” The words came out almost like a hum, meant to soothe rather than agitate. “Let me take a look at you. Then we can worry about moving. I will take care of you.” Her right hand skittered across the skin of his face, brushing some of the dirty strands of hair from his face. Despite how swollen his eye was it didn’t appear to be in any worse shape, though she wouldn’t be able to fully tell until she brought some of the swelling down.

“This might feel weird, but I need you to trust me okay?” It was a tall order she knew. Trusting a stranger on the side of the road, who was naked no less, in his condition was asking a lot. Regardless she rested her right hand over his swollen eye without hesitation. Focusing mentally on the mark that rested across her left cheek, Claire willed the power of her divine goddess through herself. A faint light filled the palm of her hand, tingling up through her being as the muscles under her fingertips shrank.

It took only moments, but she kept her hand stationary for nearly half a chime before she pulled her hand back and rested it on his knee. Most of the major swelling seemed to have decreased and the redness had diminished greatly, though there was lingering swelling along his brow and beneath his eye. In the very least he would be able to see through it—as long as there wasn’t worse damage behind the initial wound.

“There. That should help a little. Can you see through your eye clearly? Or am I blurry?”

And So It Begins...

Postby Rhodri on April 18th, 2017, 11:53 pm

Rhodri tilted his head way from her but he had nowhere to run. Slowly he watched as a shadow moved closer to his face. Just because she spoke kind words didn’t mean that she had good intentions. So rare was a genuine person that the Eypharian trusted no one but his weakened state prevented the laughter from bubbling out that the girl’s statement should have earned. When the light warmed his skin and glared across his good eye, the desert warrior winced in anticipation but the searing, stinging pain he had expected never came. Instead, he was filled with an aching, almost uncomfortable warmth but there was something about it that told him he had nothing to fear.

The woman’s words washed over him as little more than the soft ambience of his position for the six-armed man was completely focused on the pressure around his eye. It was diminishing. He could feel the swollen tissue as it shrank back to its normal size and state which alleviated the headache and disconnect from which he had been suffering. Amazed, Rhodri looked at her with both eyes and his mouth slightly agape. She had healed him. Before he could soak in the artistry in her figure, the young traveler had to give pause to the fact that she did so without prompt, promise of payment or outside pressure. The brunette simply did it because she could. This seemed to amplify her presence before him in ways that he wouldn’t notice and couldn’t understand. The Eypharian closed his deep eyes and held them shut for several ticks. When he opened them again, the woman was still there and still uncovered.

Rhodri allowed his gaze to roam freely over her body. He studied the soft lines, tight curves and striking shadows which completed a work of wonder in his mind. His pheromone glands began to seep more fluid along his neck but the sand and grit hid the visible traces leaving only the thick smell to gently blow around the immediate area. The man’s middle right hand came forward and covered that of the one she had placed on the ground. His tongue reverted back to Arumenic for a brief proclamation until he realized that he wasn’t using Common. “I’ve never met such a beautiful slave.” He forced a weak smile albeit a decent attempt before continuing in the language that she used. “You are quite gifted.”

He coughed a bit; being beaten unconscious has a way of leaving one parched. Now that he could see, Rhodri’s strength was returning. He fumbled around with his pack and produced a waterskin and took a drink of the stale, warm liquid but was grateful for the tasteless refreshment even if it was minimal. He closed it and laid it next to his left leg which his eyes continued to memorize every inch of his newfound pet. It was apparent to him, now, that she was small in stature and that caused his smile to broaden more for various reasons. The fun was just beginning as Rhodri’s thoughts were organized and he managed to ask a few questions in a very quiet but crisp baritone. “What magic allowed you to change from a bird to…” He paused and motioned to her exposed womanly form. “To a figure worthy of a mbene shure?” He used the term with a tone of affection and endearment. In truth, it meant a lesser individual; a lesser class but the aristocrat meant his compliment in relation to the other two-armed folk he had known. This one was far more attractive and had better proportions even if she did only support one set of arms and a small height. His wide-eyed curiosity quickly gave way to a more scrutinous stare when he posed his second inquiry. “What do you want for helping me?”

Nothing is ever free.

And So It Begins...

Postby Claire Lexi'lya on April 19th, 2017, 12:53 am

As the man shut his eyes tight, Claire let her own eyes wander the rest of his body. Clothed, it made it more difficult to ascertain injuries, so it would mean she would need to be through in an examination. And quick too, because whoever had done this to him—well she didn’t want to find out if they’d be back for him. Or in the very least leave either of them open to someone else finding *them easy pickings.

He spoke something again in the tongue she couldn’t make out and it brought her eyes back to his face. He commented her on being talented, and the Kelvic couldn’t help but chuckle slightly. “This particular gift of healing comes from Rak’keli.” Claire gestured to the mark splayed across her face before she adjusted her weight back entirely to her knees. Using her hands, she gently prodded along the span of the man’s shoulder—once again mesmerized by the way his arms layered on top of one another. Every bruise she came across got the same treatment as his eye. A gentle touch from one hand or the other before she continued on the same path for each arm on one side.

It was only when he asked her what magic allowed her to shift from bird to human that she couldn’t contain the airy laugh that bubbled from her chest. “Magic? No such magic I assure you.” The raptor shook her head as her fingers pulled up the end of his shirt to expose his chest. It might have actually been an attractive sight under other circumstances if it weren't for the nasty looking bruise spreading wide across his lower abdomen. She had an inkling of what it meant, but she’d have to prod at the poor man to be sure.

“This is going to hurt. I’m sorry, but I need to see if you have broken something.” She started at the top of his rib cage first, fingertips spread wide as she pressed firmly into his skin. “It’s not magic, it is a part of my race. I’m a Kelvic.” The girl let her fingers trail further south, across his pecs and to the start of the bruise. Slowly she let her fingers prod across the flesh to the muscle and bone beneath it. Ribs were a tricky thing really. Even if he had broken any there wasn’t much she could do for him herself. Short of a visit to a medical center, the most she could do was attempt to relieve some of the ache.

“Sorry.” Lightning her touch on his skin, she let the palms of her hands rest across the bruise, letting the tingling feeling of her gnosis fill her once again. Even with the rib still in disrepair, it took a great deal of energy to treat the muscles around it. “To be fair I’ve never seen anyone of your race before either. Six arms…” The final two words were spoken with something kin to admiration.

It was his question of payment that stopped her hands from continuing on their search for injuries. Her eyes backtracked to his face with a look of surprise before blinking at him innocently—and very obviously confused. “Payment?” It wasn’t as if she had never been paid for services rendered before, but to think of that now—here—seemed ridiculous to her. It was one thing to treat in a professional setting, but this was far from.

“I don’t need anything?” If the look on her face wasn’t enough, her voice certainly sealed it. She had no idea what he was talking about. Her brow furrowed again as she cocked her head off to the right, before she pursed her lips and turned her gaze back to his abdomen. She continued her diagnosis as if the question had never been asked of her. “If it’s a broken rib, which I fear it might be, I can’t heal that. I tried to take some of the tenderness away though. It should make for easier walking. If you really feel the need you should find a medical center to tend to it. They may bind it.”

Blowing out a breath, Claire could already feel the weariness pulling at her mentally. The healing gnosis was quite literally a goddess send, but it made for easy exhaustion. Especially since the man before her had quite a few injuries spread out across his body. The Kelvic could feel a slight flush rising to her cheeks as well as sweat beneath her hairline along her neck. And he wasn’t even fully inspected yet.

“My name is Claire by the way.” It was offered as a gesture to keep his mind from his aches until she could tend to the rest of him. But she threw him a small grin with it. “I take it you haven’t met a Kelvic before then?”

And So It Begins...

Every single touch she made left a warm feeling that restored him in some small way. Amazedly, he had never heard of Rak’keli and the notion that she could imbue servants to heal mortals was fascinating and a prospect of high potential. Rhodri wondered what a slave as attractive as this one could fetch given that she had the ability to heal wounds and treat injuries. His eyes combed her figure constantly and he felt a response deep in his belly that almost instantly made him aware of something far heavier than profit driving his curiosity.

He listened to her explain that the magic he assumed was just a part of her race; kelvic. The Eypharian mouthed the word several times then repeated it softly. It was clumsy and awkward which didn’t seem to suit his caretaker at all. The more she repaired his body, the stronger he felt; that is, until she started pushing on his ribs. He winced and sucked in air several times throughout the inspection and even looked away once to avoid letting her see the pain in his features. He thought the punch that rocked him was unpleasant but the spoiled aristocrat was unprepared for the experience that the tiny probing figures created. It passed without much incident and the woman..kelvic continued to talk to him in a tone that made him want to listen.

That should have sent up a warning in his mind but that heavy sensation in his gut was holding his normal arrogance under water. Rhodri perked as he caught her staring at his broad shoulders and rolled them around a bit as if to stretch but he was merely showing off the well-toned muscles of his body. The drawn out way she mentioned his racially defining feature of six arms made the hairs on his neck stand up. She showed true admiration and he not only welcomed her sentiment but appreciated it. She refused payment which only played into his ego even more. Of course, the slave wouldn’t charge him for her services. To help him, to heal him was her privilege and he was grateful that she recognized the propriety of the situation. There was a something she was saying about seeking more attention for his wounds but he felt so much better already that he paid little mind.

Claire.

That was her name and for some reason it made him aware that she was still very much on display. A young man is almost powerless to keep a focused stare or mind when such a specimen is laid out before him. Rhodri was not long feeling better but there was a heightened sense of something churning his insides into a fire that he didn’t comprehend. His pheromones were steadily dripping down his neck and pouring into the atmosphere around his large frame. He Eypharian might have known of some kelvics but that isn’t what his people called them. Well, maybe some did but his family just referred to anyone not supporting six arms as mbene shure. His deep eyes seemed to leech off of her beauty –even the tattoo on her face, the mark of her goddess, was flattering. In the back of his mind, a voice was shouting at him in anger but he paid it no mind. He was consciously thankful that no one of his race was present then extended his lower left hand out to light his hand upon her knee like a big, golden bird.

Rhodri smiled a very charming grin and leaned towards her a bit so that he could talk in a softer tone that wouldn’t have to fight the ambient noise of the road and its travelers. “I don’t know any Kelvics, Claire.” He struggled with her race but her name ran like a silken ribbon over his tongue that not only sounded pleasing to his ears but made his chest flutter as he exhaled. “I am an Eypharian. Those who have six arms are the rulers of our people and our lands.” He lifted his chin a bit out of pure racial pride. “You may call me Rhodri.” The man focused his deep brown gaze with her sharp eyes and found a few ticks worth of lingering breeze to explore the depth of her expression. “I’m new to Riverfall but meeting you has given me reason to be optimistic about my stay.” The charming smile returned as he showed some of his well-cared for teeth.

And So It Begins...

Claire couldn't hide the look of amusement as the man repeatedly mouthed the name of her race over and over. It wasn't the most graceful word, but it fit her just fine. He seemed intent on memorizing the word so she left him to it as she moved across the wounds in the best order she could gather.

His ribs however would undoubtedly be sore for weeks, and likely cause him grievance no matter what he did until they would eventually knot back together. He didn't present any alarming signs of damage beyond the ribs—such as shallow breathing or blood. While it wasn't a sure bet, Claire was fairly positive the ribs had not punctured anything during their break.

As the man began to rotate his shoulders, the Kelvic couldn't help but let her eyes follow the lines of sinew and muscle. Each arm seemed to have independent use—they did not perform the same movements at the same time. For a chime the Kelvic couldn't help but wonder what having so many arms might be like. Was it difficult to use them? Or did it come as naturally to him as flying did for her?

It was his stare that reigned her focus back in. It wasn't the first she had noticed it—many tended to stare at her after the shift, though she was fairly certain that is was nakedness that drew the attention. But his eyes seemed particularly… sharp. She could feel them move across her much as her own did for him. The odd scent she had faintly smelled before seemed to grow stronger as well.

His hand meeting the bare skin of her knee made her pull her hands from him in shock however. There had been a multitude of times when men had made the presumption to touch her while she cared for them—none of them felt as charged as this simple movement. The hand did not attempt to move further, but it left butterflies in her stomach and her mouth nearly ran dry the longer it remained.

It was a reaction she had never experienced before.

The man—Rhodri—explained of his race; that those graced with six arms were considered the ruler of their lands. His charming smile and focused gaze might have brought on a blush, had her cheeks not already been warm from both sun and exertion. Her name however sent a shiver down her spine. Not one of fear, but more like a bolt that settled in her chest and made her want to squirm with nerves.

“Well seeing as I've just arrived today myself, I suppose I'm inclined to agree.” The Kelvic had to force herself to look away from the Eypharian. Claire felt that if she allowed herself she would forget her purpose here entirely. His charms were strong—even in his disheveled appearance. He was likely a force to be reckoned with in full glory.

“So since you have six arms I take it that makes you royalty?” The girl had noted that arrogance in which he spoke. The subject of him would likely draw his attention from her and back to himself if she judged him correctly. “So what is royalty doing all the way in Riverfall?”

It seemed an innocent enough question. Her hands returned to his abdomen and worked their way down from there. Each thigh was carefully checked with gentle pressure—though she made sure to avoid the groin area. Men were either too stubborn to inform her of injury… or entirely too eager to have her inspect. His hand was still resting on her knee and well—

—she was rather nude.

Naked was a state of being that held little insecurity for her. It was usually everyone else that took it the wrong way. But the scraps and bruises were tended to as best she could despite each use of her gnosis sapping her strength. It was the first time the Kelvic had used it to this extent and she hadn't realized just how taxing it would be to heal even just the minor wounds of one person.

As Claire moved to lean back on heels the world seemed to tilt. Her hands shot out to catch her, just barely, as her breath stuttered in her chest. For a moment the world blurred in front of her, and she closed her eyes for several ticks trying to gather herself together. Even with her eyes closed she could feel the vertigo tugging at her.

Slowly, with her eyes still closed, the Kelvic used her waning strength to shift away from the Eypharian. Her arms trembled under the strain of her weight, but they managed to hold her until she could seat herself fully on the ground. It took a great deal of effort on her part, but she managed to pull her knees to her chest so that she could press her forehead to them. Even in the slumped position the girl felt as though she couldn't catch her breath. One hand weakly came up to the back of her neck to feel the sweat that had begun to cling to her skin.

With a pitiful groan she dropped her hand, letting both of them come to rest against her ankles. The man next to her was forgotten in the effort just to stay awake. It wouldn't do for her to completely pass out on the side of the road like he had in her state. They may have ignored him, but Claire highly doubted the same would be said for her.

Grader's Comments:

Always looking forwards to reading the threads you two cook up! If there are any issues with the lores or grades, please make sure to message me, so that we can work something out! Also, I'd love it if you updated your character sheets with the lores you've received, so that I may avoid awarding lores that are (or sound) the same. Likewise, if you'd be so kind to delete your post from the request thread, that'd be awesome!

As always, Death guide you~
Grim
Grim as an Eiyon, appears to undead as either something to be fearful, or weary of, depending on their personal power. To others, he might seem like a mystery, or just odd.
