Rose woke up with a start from her sleep, and let out a sigh as she did so. A nightmare Florian again. Her brother had haunted her dreams recently, and it wasn't a good thing. It was as if her dreams were telling her that she needed to be constantly reminded of her twin brother and his death. The brown-haired girl absolutely hated it. She would not be able to handle it much longer if she kept dreaming of her childhood, as it wasn't something she liked to be reminded of.

Her childhood had been horrible, and she had every single reason to think that. First she had endured living with the terrible things her mother and father did to the two children, and how they had lived in awful conditions. The two hadn't loved their children at all, they had never even shown the twins fake love. Except in front of other people of course. That was the exception to their I'll treatment, when others could witness it. Life had been extremely hard, especially when they were very young. Florian put up a shield against it, and he was the only reason she had coped with it. Life wasn't worth living in that way, and she was sure that she would have just stopped living if it had carried on like that.

Yet Florian came up with a plan, a plan to help himself and his sister escape from that life. They fled in the early morning before their parents woke up, carrying the few possessions they could and running, out of the city and to who knows where. They had barely survived for a few weeks before someone took pity on the two ragged children, and took them in. They took the two and taught them everything they knew. Florian had no qualms about doing the things they were told, but at first Roselina had. Crime was wrong, wasn't it? However Florian seemed fine with it, so she did it, and eventually her morals changed. If someone was stupid enough to fall for something or have a possession stolen, then they deserved to have it happen, didn't they? A good person would be able to stop that from happening to them. It didn't matter if she took from them.

After that, they lived well for a few years, and she was happy. Life wasn't peaceful, but it was fun. She enjoyed everyday, until Florian died.

It had destroyed her, she had been torn apart when her brother died. But she was recovering from it, slowly. When she thought about it, there was one way to take her mind of it that usually worked, at least temporarily. Working always helped her to think about other things, as did drinking, yet she decided it was much too early in the day for that.

She decided that it would be a good idea to just see what happened that day, see what opportunities there were, what people were around, who was there to trick, or con, or perhaps steal from. She wasn't quite sure about which one she would do yet, as she didn't do one specific thing really. Roselina was just a criminal, a thief and a con artist. As said in the name, it played on people's confidence, confidence that the person was selling or telling them something real.

Of course, that meant it was most often not real, and often ended up badly for the target or mark as they were sometimes called. But Rose preferred the word target, it sounded more amusing to her, more like she was an assassin or something. Though she would never kill someone, taking a life was something that was against her morals, no matter how many crimes she commuted or how much money she took. Murder was wrong.

She rose from her bed with a long yawn, and stretched as she did so. Slowly she got out her clothes and put them on, pulling on her cloak to make sure that it covered the tattoo on the side of her arm. Today wouldn't be a good day to be recognised again, not after being recognised in the winter and having to meet her cousin. The woman brushed her hair quickly and messily, before deciding she didn't care that much about what her hair looked like, well, didn't care in the slightest about what it looked like. Roselina picked up her bag that contained her dagger, she never knew if she would need it, before heading out into the city.

Her footsteps echoed as she walked through the corridors away from her apartment, heading towards somewhere where people might be, crowds were something she needed for her work, an area that had a crowd was an area that had people, and people ment that there was money. Money that was easy to take. Gold Mizas just sitting in peoples pockets waiting for her to have them.

The streets weren't that crowded that morning, the green eyed woman thought absentmindedly about that for a moment, before deciding it was most likely just because it was so early in the morning, Rose didn't like mornings much, the night was much more interesting, but she usually woke up early anyway, and ended up with nothing to do except work.

She looked around the crowd, her green eyes flickering from person to person, from a woman to a child to a man. People of all different races, though mostly humans, making their way about their day. Now which would she choose on that day? Who would be a good target to con? There were knights, she stayed well away from them. They were never targets for her crimes, as it was much too risky to try. The con artist didn't have a death wish, or wish to be arrested much, so she focused on the ordinary and normal people.

There were a lot of people to choose from. A young woman with blonde hair and a fancy dress walking down the street with her head held high as if she was better than the rest; clearly not an appropriate target. Two men, one with brown hair and the other with a long and scruffy beard. The two were rushing down the street with large strides, they looked like they had somewhere to be and probably wouldn't want to stop to listen to the con artist.

She then spotted another woman, a kind and gentle smile on her face as she talked to a young human girl who looked about eight years old. The woman herself looked middle aged and had long black hair that reached down to her shoulders, and her clothes looked normal, not as if she had lots of money, but was fine. The small girl beside her had a similar appearance to the woman, with blue eyes looking up at her. Roselina looked over at her for another moment, before walking over to her quickly, and donning as sad a look as she could muster as she did so.

"Miss?" The woman smiled sadly, attempting to use her youthful appearance as best as she could, it probably wouldn't work if the woman she was pulling a con on knew her actual age. She was lucky to not look as old as she truly was, as half the tricks she pulled would not work if she didn't look the part.

The trick she was planning that day was simple, but an easy one to do since she didn't need anything to use for it. All she needed was herself and a target to pull the con on. The idea of it was something she had come up with when she was walking to the place she was now.

She was going to lie, as usual, but this time she was going to tell the lie that she was collecting money for her frail and sickly younger sister, who was about eight years old, since the girl who appeared to be her daughter looked about that age. It would probably bring on more sympathy for the girl if it reminded her of her own daughter.

The black-haired woman turned around when Rose called out to her, an ever so slightly confused, but friendly, look flitted across her face for a moment.

"Yes?" The questioned the con artist as her child scooted behind her legs, peeking at the woman from behind her mother, or who Roselina assumed was her mother, they certainly looked like they were related in some way, so she decided it was an okay assumption to make.

Rose remembered her childhood, it hadn't been good for her, but this child in front of her looked well off, and well treated. That was much better than her own childhood, no child should have been treated the way she had. It made her feel slightly worse about what she was about to do.

"Can you spare any money, Miss? I beg you, my sister is ill and we can't afford any medicine for her. Please Miss she's only a young girl."
