✨Which Jobs Fit In Syka?✨

Syka isn't like other cities. Why? It's not actually a real city, at least not yet. The settlement is small, with well under a hundred people living there, closer to a couple dozen on a good day! So Syka is forced to be close knit in order to survive. There are not vast amounts of citizens to provide decent living to people like dentists or undertakers. No one needs a Landscaper or Interior Designer. There are no Politicians or Sage Mages. The priority in life in Syka - though the weather is great and the days are long and warm - is survival and making life better. To get employed at something, a PC must have at least a LORE of the subject and be a novice in the profession. Please don't pick a job, expect to get paid for it, and not have any knowledge of it whatsoever in character. So to that end, the Help Wanted list in Syka is chalked full of artisans and craftsman.

The below Most Wanted list is a WIP. Feel free to suggest additions.

✨Everyone Needs A Hobby✨

The below skills/jobs are things PCs NEED to actually have to survive here but are things that everyone else also has, so it's hard to actually make a living at it!

Desired Hobbies Brief Description
Hunting Everyone hunts usually and since a lot of the animals taken are larger, kills get passed around since there's no one really able to preserve food in Syka at the moment.
Fishing Many many people fish. The seas are abundant with food. And its free for the taking if you can just toss a line in, cast a net, or throw out pots.
Foraging Fruits, and vegetables, as well as nuts and edible roots, grow literally everywhere around Syka. As long as the population is still fairly low, there is not a problem finding food if someone has the correct 'whats edible' lores.
Scouting Spending any time in Syka one learns where the trails are that are slowly forming between fruit groves, various new buildings, beach spots, etc. And one doesn't just go 'scouting' until one has significant wilderness survival.

✨What Jobs Don't Fit?✨

There will also be a list of jobs that ARE NOT available in Syka. This is mainly because these 'jobs' are more hobbies and everyone does them.

Useless Job Brief Description
Advisor It's going to be hard to find someone more knowledgeable than the NPCs and PCs already in Syka.
Mercenary Work Who is actually going to hire you to ...? If you pitch a special case to me I'll be open to considering it as a paid profession.
Undertaking You are going to starve before people die off fast enough to support you.

✨Miscellaneous Information✨

A final note about jobs. Each PC can only have ONE job. The only exception to this is if you start a business, max out your business skill, earn a Master Merchant badge, and start a secondary business. Master Merchants are outlined clearly in the Consortia business plans forum. You can do things on the side that you can sell for side money... say hunt and sell the meat... but no full-time double professions! Thanks for understanding!

✴ Feel free to post in this thread if you have more ideas! If you want your name added to the list, post here. Also, be sure you are current on the Character Registry Threads! If you aren't on there as active, I don't have you on this list either!

Before anyone gets approval for Employment, they must complete the REQUIRED Syka introduction thread where they arrive in Syka, talk to one or more of the Founders, and get permission to live and work here. That thread is your gateway to employment, housing, etc. It can be solo'd or moderated. But it must be one of the the first things you do in Syka before anything else. It clearly states this in the Codex. :)

You must get permission from me for all jobs, housing, and joining Syka before you do an introduction thread unless it is a moderated thread by myself. If you have the means to not be employed, you can skip the employment issue. If you are a race that doesn't need housing or employment, you don't need an introduction thread.

If you are a Kelvic, you must have WS of Expert or higher to live in the wilds outside of the settlement.
