The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

11th of Autumn, 518. Just after Dusk.

The Bharani Library was Savis' sanctuary. With her sight restored and her capacity for retention brought back into being, the Nuit spent most of her time in the place. Books were scattered across the table, from the principles of Gadgeteering (an art she'd long considered beyond her understanding) to a dictionary of Ancient Tongue. Savis Maren did not need such a dictionary, but to carry it with her in the event of a need for reference was a useful matter. Her notebook, paint brush and the Voice Box she'd created in the Summer were thrown along the stone surface. Savis' posture had her hunched over the table as she popped the top of her paints off and dabbed her long, prized brush into the tube-shaped receptacle.

Savis raised her hand onto the table, beginning the black mark along her wrist. Savis was by no means a painter, and her attempts at creating stylized markings were born out of vanity than a true need for the glyphs to carry any sort of appeal to them. At the center of the back of her hand, she created the rune, the word 'Roza' formed upon her pallid flesh. The rune, roughly translated to mean interruption was then bordered by a line that drew around her wrist. When the Nuit was prepared, she put down the brush and began her work. The focus on her wrist was meant to guide the movement of her djed, attracting it in a smooth transition in her wrist. Once she felt the connection there, she worked at flooding the space with djed. Neatly, the Nuit rendered her astral wrist asunder from her physical, a spectral hand remaining in place as the physical appendage became limp and unable to be used.

Savis was meters away from the book shelf, but she'd neglected to pull a tome regarding the basic nature of djed from the walls. She intended to copy some of the highlights into her notebook, to take the knowledge home with her in the event that she could use the information as a means of guiding others. More and more, Savis Maren found her ambitions within Lhavit shifting. She wished to impart her knowledge, both of djed and the crafts born with its manipulation. But, first, she needed to refine that knowledge and hone it into a guiding light with which students could be nurtured.

The Nuit wished to alter the perceptions the city had about her. She was, to some, a monster: a body snatcher in it for their corpse in the dead of night. To others, she was a pariah, an oddity that never opened her mouth to speak. But, that wasn't Savis' fault! With the shifting of the season, the Animator intended to share her light with the world, to make good on her reasons for coming to Lhavit in the first place.

Savis pulled the book from the shelves, her Projected hand plucking it by the binding before she willed it back to her place on the stone table. Savis flipped the book open to its table of contents, raising her arm next. She willed her spectral hand to place her paint brush on the page, the blotted tip set against the stone table as the handle rested against pages. The Nuit worked next at pulling her spectral hand to her wrist. She worked at the bonds of her djed, the runic 'Roza' already faded and gone from her wrist. It was far more difficult for her to re-unite the astral limb to physical.

It took time that, obviously, the Nuit had in spades, and Savis Maren wouldn't notice any approaching figures in her fervor to restore movement to her wrist and equilibrium to the astral body she prized so dearly. It took several moments of careful work, using djed as a glue with which astral wrist was bound to astral forearm. After two chimes, however, the work was done. Savis flexed her fingers before moving to remove the paint brush from page, narrowly avoiding the disaster of suffusing the tome with blots of black ink. A breath of relief escaped the Nuit's lips as she carried her pale eyes over the table, hoping that her musings with Projection hadn't disturbed anything else around her.

[Bharani Library] Hollow Points [Mauriel]

Mauriel yet again found herself in Bharani Library on her night off. At this point she felt a bit guilty for never actually paying her share in stories, as she was too focused on doing other things since she arrived. Being one season old takes a toll on a person, everything is new and exciting. She wondered whether she was just a selfish person, as she wandered the aisles, looking for something to read. It's not like there was nothing, it's that the choices were too many. Should she read up on music first, pick up a local cook book, read more history, astronomy, or rather learn some basics about magic? Or would that ruin the mysticism around the discipline that kept it feeling interesting and like a nice sprinkle in her stories, though probably woefully unrealistic and painful to those well-versed in it to listen to.

She was checking out the shelves right besides a row of tables, when a strong scent caught her attention. She identified a woman as a source of it, she was sitting completely alone, leaning over her work. She didn't know most of the smells she was smelling, but she thought she felt a sting of alcohol under many other more pleasant smells, which must have been too much perfume. All that was visible was the woman's long black braid. The Ethaefal was a bit frustrated with the woman drawing attention like this, whether she was trying to conceal alcoholism or just had no sense of measure, it was, in her opinion, downright rude. At least with unhygienic people she could think it was a sign of poverty or lack of education - which she could empathize with being both a bit worried about money since her arrival and pretty ill-informed compared to the other adults surrounding her - but this was just an irredeemable annoyance.

Her judgment was, however, interrupted by a book flying off the shelf just to be positioned and opened in front of the woman perfectly. At this point, Mauriel was just standing behind the lone scholar, watching her. She seemed quite focused and the Ethaefal dared not disturb her. Unsure whether the woman was performing magic, the blonde thought it was safer not to test her focus by saying anything. She tried to just move on, but her curiosity pinned her legs in place, and she just rudely stared as the mage for chimes as she was seemingly in deep thought.

Some time later, the woman moved her previously still hand, as if it went stiff and she was testing out the feel again. She reached for a brush that was still covered in ink, when Mauriel finally revealed her presence by trying to rush to protect the page from an ugly stain. No ink was spilled, so her efforts were unnecessary, but this had brought her uncomfortably close to the woman. She could finally make out her face. Long, black, bags under her eyes along with her pale face made her seem very sickly, quite the opposite of what the paleness made the Ethaefal look like.

She pulled back. "I'm sorry, I was just passing, reflexively got worried for the book. I always overworry when I use ink myself, I suppose the fear of stains has gone too far at the point of rushing towards stranger's books. I genuinely apologize, that was really rude of me." She waited for the reaction to see whether introductions were in order or should she just move on. It was an odd occasion for introductions, but she nonetheless hoped the sickly woman was odd to match. She was yearningly curious about what she just watched transpire, yet unsure about one too many things about this creature to outright ask without probing the terrain a bit.

[Bharani Library] Hollow Points [Mauriel]

Joy sputtered through the Projectionist's senses as the manipulation of djed set aside pleasure that so very rarely was experienced by the dead. The echoes of that pleasure began to die down when the Nuit's pallid gaze met the ethereal form of an Ethaefal woman. Savis was accustomed to the sight of these intense, dazzling beings, though in most cases, she saw them during the day. Never had the woman laid eyes on an Ethaefal in their mortal form... Or perhaps, she had? There was no way for the Nuit to tell, for she very rarely approached such luminous beings for conversation.

Pleasant to look at, but truly, intimidating figures when it came to the Nuit. Savis found through the duration of her unlife that beauty in all things was the treasure of existence. The Nuit, permanently disconnected from such beauty, were inferior beings to even mortals, but their eternal life and propensity for disguise and cosmetic use might aid the undead in such competition. Of course, such divulgence was never brought forth as vocalization, for the ever-shallow being that was Savis was not going to admit that she was lesser than this... thing. When the Ethaefal approached Savis, she was rather confounded. Were the Ethaefal not so strikingly beautiful that their beauty became their barrier? Did the Nuit in the prejudice of others find a foil within herself? The questions were boundless as the curiosity, both of the woman in front of Savis and the Nuit's thoughts that bound through and uninhibited within her skull.

This Ethaefal showed, as with all of their kind, no sign of her age. No, she was before her as golden, luminous tribute to the goddess Syna herself. It was so dazzling, so lovely that it filled Savis Maren with nothing more or less than total revulsion. Revulsion that such a dazzling being brandished light in the darkness of the Nuit's presence. Repeated apologies for a slight that was only perceived by her, a sort of paranoia to disappoint the undead woman? Mauriel professed endless apologies when it was her that had the brush on the page. She'd been staring at the Nuit and yet she noticed none of it. The manipulation of djed did not serve those who split their focus from it well.

Savis resolved to utilize her personal magic more often, though was reserved in regards to what its practice might do to her. She was on and off about the matter, preferring to indulge in the use when the whim to do so set about. The Nuit flicked her wrist and tossed her head back, letting high laughter flood the library. It was laughter set instinctively as her assumptions dissolved before her. The paradox of an apologizing, arrogant goddess among mortals held endless amusement for Savis Maren, and watching Mauriel lowering herself to trash more than endeared the woman to her.

The laughter died down after heated glares from a nearby librarian. The Nuit beckoned for the creature to join her, clearly disarmed by her display and, in turn, wanting to learn about this humble goddess who flared such emotions within the undead. Of course, such emotions were internalized, her pallid stare showing very little of the battle of wills that commenced behind her eyes. She patted the table, her lips stretching out, decayed musculature put to work in a seldom display of affection.

"Sit, please. It's no trouble at all, darling," the Nuit spoke with a somewhat smug tone infecting her hoarse metre. Pale, silver eyes set upon the Ethaefal, careful to study her expressions, to watch the luminous being was both a pleasure and a jabbing, oozing wound within her unbeating heart. Rather than allow such beauty to flee, however, she was tempted. So sorely tempted to truly learn more about this being.

The mage plucked the paintbrush from its place, gingerly she gripped it in her left hand, her lips pursed as per her norm once again. She was, in this instance willing to multi-task. The Nuit opened her notebook, setting the blank pages of the centerfold for the Ethaefal to look upon. Slowly, Savis tore both sheets from the binding, closing her book and setting it aside. She took one of the sheets, leaving the other in front of her for Mauriel should she choose to assist. She ripped the sheet into strips each two inches wide before stacking all of them on top of each other. The strips were torn in half, creating eight even scraps for her to use at her leisure. When she was finally done, at last she looked up at the Ethaefal.

"What brings you to my table, darling? Taking a peep at a young woman's notes?" she asked with laughter, tinged with the barest flicker of mockery.

The sharp laughter that filled the room made the Ethaefal flinch, surprised by unashamed noise the woman made in a library. Her long list of flaws to dislike this woman for was just lengthened by her ridiculously disrespectful behavior, as the laugh echoed along the domes. Despite her curiosity, she couldn't hide a level of disgust she felt towards this creature, but that soon turned to pity as she thought about what might make one act in this manner. Sadly for the blonde, she wasn't too good of an actress, so even if she were trying she probably wouldn't come off completely neutral, but like this her emotions painted on her face, easy for most to pick up. Her earlier apologies were, however, sincere, as her own mistakes were not excused by those of others, and her own silly behavior was no less crazy because it was done in front of a madwoman.

The thing was staring at her with ominously pale eyes, offering her a seat. At this point she was slightly afraid, along with being self-righteous, of an odd-smelling mage who looked as sick as if she was within inches of death, and yet her curiosity knew no bounds. She should be relatively safe here in the library, anyway, if she was ever to converse with such a being, it would be wisest to do it here. And she was wandering aimlessly anyway, perhaps this encounter could give a much needed direction to her night. At the very least, she wanted to find out what exactly this being was. While it could maybe pass for a very sickly human to Mauriel who knew nothing of medicine, one too many things was strange about it for her to just dismiss a feeling that something was off. As pale as the dead, she would've probably mistaken her as one if she was lying motionless, and she wondered could that not be too far from the truth. After all, all kinds of strange things walked this world due to magic.

"I'm Mauriel," she informed the woman as she sat besides her, doing her best not to do anything to indicate that she was struggling to tolerate the intensity of various smells permeating the air around her. She watched the woman turn back to her notebook and start tearing pieces, leaving some for the Ethaefal. "Um, am I supposed to be doing something?" she asked, wondering if the lack of the information provided meant that she was supposed to imitate. Given that the woman invited her over to sit, she seemed pretty unconcerned with establishing any sort of communication.

Happy at the interest she was finally shown, she responded to the question of why she was there. "I was walking around and saw a book fly towards your table. I... might have ended up staring in disbelief." Guilty as charged, yet as there was no honoring of any social protocol here she thought she might as well be honest. Well, somewhat honest at the very least. "I suppose you're some sort of a mage? I don't know the first thing about magic. Though I'm not sure I want to know. It feels like it would make it less interesting and wondrous, you know?" She could think of a litany of types of people who would not sympathize with such sentiment, and topping the list were probably most actual mages, but her conceited view of this woman had made Mauriel unusually honest. She was often one to guard her true thoughts and feelings meticulously, afraid of the bonds their reveal might form, yet she had none such worries right now, feeling sure that this woman was not a friend material, and much less a material for a lover. It felt wonderfully liberating actually for her to hold such disdain for her interlocutor, and the horned woman unconsciously began to enjoy her company.

Savis Maren was perfectly fine with blatantly ignoring looks of contempt that came across her. The ethereal woman before the Nuit was of that kind, those luscious, beautiful, terrible beings and there was no arguing the matter with her. Ignore it with her eyes, but she couldn't help the pain that settled deep within her. Savis Maren was aware of her odor, for the rank of undeath was not disguised with simple perfume, no matter how much of it was used. The scents struck at the nostrils in combination, creating an odd mixture of scents, or at the very least... she was told. Savis wouldn't pretend to know what a smell was anymore, covering her scent in musk upon musk and hoping that it worked. If someone cared to tell her, perhaps she'd stop wasting her time with it altogether. But, no one did. Haneht was the only mortal in her recent memory that cared to suffer the undead's presence, though time and place separated the pair when Savis withdrew from the public eye in the light of her numerous afflictions. The Summer season only served to wedge Savis Maren deeper into the pit that was her despair. When her senses recovered, fury welled within her soul. Her change was wrought quickly, and with her new body, there was a fierce determination about her, veiled by the cloud of death that surrounded her.

Mauriel's introduction was pleasant enough, but when her inquiry released into the library, Savis shrugged her shoulders, nonplussed by the callous question. She shook her head, setting the page aside within her own notebook. The eight strips she created were more than enough for Savis to go on with, and there was no need for little miss Dazzling to trouble her pretty fingers in the assistance of a Nuit.

"Oh, supposed to? Heavens no, Mauriel. I wouldn't want to trouble you for assistance," she mused aloud before she ceased speaking to listen to Mauriel's excuse for approaching her. With such an obvious display of magic, she truly had to ask the question? It became obvious to the Animator that the Ethaefal before wasn't a mage before the Ethaefal admitted it. The admission, at last, placed the Animator in an air of superiority. There was, as a consequence of being exposed to djed and its warping ways, of being superior to this Ethaefal. Even with her boundless beauty, Savis Maren possessed knowledge and power that more than likely transcended the woman's imagination. Pulling books from shelves? Strips of paper or marked paint with the power to amplify djed? Both of these crafts paled in comparison to Savis Maren's truer passion, one she'd keep hidden away. At least, for now.

"That I am, darling Mauriel. Magic expresses itself in so many different ways. Pulling books from shelves? One of the more practical skills," she answered, the latter half of her statement a bold-faced and incredibly obvious lie. But, Savis was having her fun. Gone was the hatred, the open disdain for the Ethaefal that bled into her tone. Sarcasm used was playful enough, with her pale gaze meeting Mauriel's in earnest as she mused upon questions of her own. Savis twisted her brush between her fingers, twirling the head from side to side as she looked at the Ethaefal with an appraising gaze. She wasn't sure of her desire to pursue the arcane? At the very least, she was given the choice. Decades of servitude from master to master pushed the magicks Savis knew into her being. She'd been stripped from mortal flesh and then tutored (in an assistance capacity) by the very being who'd stripped her life away. Her astral body was pulled from her, only to be shoved back into her corpse form by a master on the isle of Sahova. Decades passed and it wasn't magic that sustained Savis Maren's life, but instead, a keen mind and a habit for perfectionism that dwelled on the manic.

"I don't think that the myth of magic gives it due credit where deserved. The myth of magic is often laden by false perceptions, stories told by those who witness it from afar. True mages aren't so loose-lipped, or rather, they beat the myth out of students and introduce them to the reality that is its splendor..." The words were spoken plainly, but by the lack of sarcasm within her tone, it might be apparent that Savis Maren truly loved her indulgence in magic. Despite what the past might have done to the woman, there was a future in the arcane that she'd blaze forth with and explore.

Mauriel made sure to add another line in her mental checklist of why this woman was annoying - for failing to introduce herself. But then she just decided to dispense with the efforts. They obviously didn't click and there was no point in rationalizing it a thousand and one way. The checklist obviously served the purpose of justifying her feelings to herself, which became clear as she thought about it, which was a purpose not worth spending any additional mental effort on.

The sarcasm in the woman's tone was obvious, and while the first impulse was to roll her eyes or respond in kind, the Ethaefal had thought that further escalation would not lead anywhere. "I dunno what you're used to, but I don't read minds," she tried joking, not sure if it had come out more confrontational than she intended it to.

The response came in the form of further sarcasm, letting Mauriel know that even if it had not been perceived as competitiveness, her joke certainly didn't alleviate the disdain that the woman held for her. Noticing the woman's playfulness, albeit perhaps mean-spirited, Mauriel decided to let it go. It might have been annoying, but what about her wasn't? And she seemed like she was having fun, so at least one of them had things going for them in this interaction. At least that's what she told herself, her face more clearly expressing that she was enjoying this as well than she was willing to admit to herself.

Finally turning the conversation a bit more serious and sincere, the woman spoke of her relationship with the arcane rather fondly. Mauriel frowned, but not in any sort of disgust this time, but truly trying to consider the mage's words. The bard wasn't one to hunt after truth at all costs, as she saw stories as better mediums for people to universally learn from than any set of facts that may be limited through people's ability to understand them, learn them, or even be interested in them. Stories, to her, informed actions like nothing else could. And yet this woman was promising more splendor in the reality than what her false perceptions offered, and she was indeed intrigued. She was not sure how to communicate this properly, tho, as she has found that many people, especially the sort that frequented this place, did not share her worldview on the matter. But her curiosity sparked, she doubted that she would be able to keep herself from researching further now. The process of her thinking this through very obviously paused the conversation, and it would've been apparent that something was bothering her in that time.

"I suppose you may be right. One way to find out." She did not, however, sound thrilled about that one way. One way with no going back. Once her illusions are shattered by reality, she didn't know how free she'd feel to explore them as creatively again. The unnamed woman did not offer her assistance to the pristine beauty she obviously had a problem with, but based on her actions so far she was interested in sharing information. She was just doing it on her own terms, probably enjoying the power to deny them. Mauriel wanted to ask what was her problem, slightly tired of her games at this point, but then again she thought she probably deserved it. She showed her disdain and then proceeded to allow the woman power over her by not just walking past and looking for another mage to bother, as hard as that might be. It was only fair to let her have her fun in exchange for some info, as the Ethaefal wasn't exactly offering pleasant company. Maybe she appeared to, and maybe she would be the more socially acceptable of the two if they were conversing in public, but boiling it down to pure emotions and intentions, without her pretty facade, she was no better than her interlocutor.

Wondering where all of those thoughts came from, Mauriel realized that what had humanized the being for her was her simple show of passion towards a craft she felt a calling towards. Something deep within the Ethaefal resonated with that, and allowed her to for a moment see things from the other side as well. It was not, however, enough to nullify her dislike, just to pacify it enough to analyze things more clearly. "So what do you want with me?"

Little Miss Dazzling had quite the mouth on her, insofar that she was a sarcastic little bitch. Savis Maren, of course, was the perfect example of calm and poise. The Nuit kept her eyes on the lovely Ethaefal, her wild jealousy kept the eyes on her beautiful form. Perhaps it was pathetic, to exhibit such feelings even through the walk of her undeath, but Savis Maren didn't pretend to be a role model. Her hopes and dreams sat on the back burner as her pallid gaze glowered at the Ethaefal. When the Leth-blessed made her little joke, it was somewhat disarming, with the Nuit torn between the desire to laugh and the desire to wrench out her companion's heart and place it in a display within her home. Of course, the Animator didn't possess such wild, visceral powers. Even if she did, her promises to the Shinya prevented such wild, unobstructed rage. She groaned weakly, the conflict so prevalent behind her dead eyes before she clicked her tongue.

"My name, darling Maurel, is Savis Maren," she introduced at last. It was rude and brash to forget such introductions, but Savis was seething before the Ethaefal, so wildly enamoured with the beauty but so distasteful of the one who didn't deserve to have it. Emotions flared within. It was a paradox that she didn't believe possible, but then again, Savis Maren never had such extended conversation with an Ethaefal. Her talk with Talora was short-lived, a handling of business and an easy getaway. With the Eth before her, this was no forced encounter. No, Mauriel accepted Savis' strained invitation and now the both of them played a game of words, Savis Maren's favorite sort of game. Even if she wouldn't admit it. Laughter bubbled from her lips, high and headstrong as it flowed from her dried corpse lips.

"Only one? My dear, there are so many ways to find out. If you feel your mind is up to the task. Mine was not when the magic first came for me, you see." Savis Maren's cautioning, despite the awkward wording and her rather disturbing demeanor, was well-intentioned. Savis saw how magic polluted and warped the mind first-hand, with her first master's boorish overconfidence. He'd become drunk on power and decided to fight the Zith that destroyed him rather than take the logical approach of fleeing. The Nuit then looked to Sahova, where her masters plucked at the lives of mortals and creatures alike with hardly a care. Savis Maren might've been, to some, a bitch. However, she wasn't a bitch without reason.

The Nuit had uses for the strips of paper in front of her. She took one such piece and began her work. The paint brush dipped into a cup of water she'd brought along for that purpose. Carefully, she placed it next into the cylindrical paint receptacle, dabbing an even coat along the hairs of the brush before dabbing paint on the surface of paper. The rune she traced in the center was one she'd seldom found a need for.

Sutla. That which spans.

However, such needs were always dependent on whims, the exploration of magic for Savis Maren being one that stacked curiosities upon further desire to learn. Tutelage was not provided in earnest to the Nuit, and when she was freed, she held her basic understanding of the principles of magic with independence in the matter. It was something she wished to solve, of course.

"So young... Aren't you, little miss Dazzling??" Though phrased like a question, the statement was anything but. It was increasingly obvious that this Ethaefal lacked the finesse and supreme knowledge of her eternal fellows. Talora showed far greater beauty than this one, it showed in the eyes of one who'd endured through the ages. Those eyes made Savis Maren feel small. Mauriel's? Savis felt by and large her superior, and her haughtiness flowed from her as venom and nourishment alike, informative but grating.

"Stay with me, if you can bear it. Little Miss Dazzling, I've spent so very long in a box. First, that box was servitude. Then that box was willing enslavement. There is a strange distinction," she mused before continuing on with her short little story. "Then that box was Lhavit in the midst of a crippling fog. Now? There is no box, and Savis Maren is free to see the outside of it without inhibition."

Mauriel made it a point to memorize all the names of the people she had any sort of meaningful interactions with, at least while it was still a manageable feat, and Savis' was no exception, despite her wondering whether she'd rather forget about any of this happening and move on with her life. The creature has been increasingly unpleasant, for a reason Mauriel still couldn't puzzle together fully. Was she very hurt by the Ethaefal's likely visible reaction to her appearance and behavior? And if so, why would she care that much about what a stranger in passing thought? Enough to invite her over to play with her a bit, before hopefully showing her a trick or two.

When the warning was made Mauriel was already a bit dissuaded. "Well, I don't know what 'the task' is, but if it requires warning, I wouldn't bet on my own readiness." It was the most convoluted way in which she managed to admit that she doesn't feel very sane, not in the way that would provide stability seemingly required for this. Maybe she should just get up and go? She was very confused by this interaction, and her abilities being questioned made countless insecurities bubble up. No, maybe she really shouldn't meddle with the arcane. If this woman was anything to go by, it's not very good for your mind, and Mauriel was slightly off to begin with. And a teacher who she was not sure was looking out for her wellbeing, quite the contrary possibly, might have been giving her one last kind gesture in the form of that warning. "Maybe I really shouldn't..." she reiterated.

She, however, stayed to observe the mage write some strange inscriptions on the papers before her. It surely wouldn't be dangerous to just look, would it? It probably would. Yeah, definitely. And yet she looked. She couldn't make out their meaning, but she imagined it must be something ancient, or arcane. Mystical powers she never gazed upon, at least not through any of the memories she had access to.

Savis' next words, however, made something click in the clogging between the horns, however. Little Miss Dazzling? Was Savis' annoyed at her celestial appearance? Is that what she thought gave the Ethaefal the arrogance to judge? That would certainly make sense and align with her behavior so far, yet it would be so naive of the young woman that Mauriel had to suppress a chuckle. She wished she were the vain beauty she was seen as. Instead, she was a shell of what she once was, even this beauty belonging to Leth, rather than herself, the truth of her mind caged away behind foggy memories, her true name unspeakable here, and the reason she believed Leth had taken her soul likely making her the least worthy of all her brethren of this gift and the treatment that went with it in Lhavit... She'd certainly not trade places with the poor woman before her, for none of her privilege was earned, yet she thought she would probably be happier living another ordinary life, without any of the burdens her awareness of her soul's flaws brought upon her.

And there she was, only thinking about herself again, while somebody else was revealing something about themselves. The disgusting self-pity she always uses to justify her own weakness rearing its ugly head. And yet there was no helping it.

"I'm not yet a season old," she replied, as if to make an excuse for herself. "And I'm getting a bit tired of all of this," she said, standing up. Miss Dazzling could not bear it. She came here to study, not be unwittingly initiated into something she knew nothing about that could take a toll on her mind, nor be somebody's punching bag for the sin of having a sense of smell. "I'm sorry if any of my actions insulted you. I don't like you, but I didn't mean to hurt you either, you did nothing to deserve that. I have no idea whether I want anything to do with whatever" she pointed towards the runes on the scraps of paper, "that is, and if I decide that I do, I'd probably prefer to engage with such things with a teacher who despises me at least a bit less obviously." A chuckle at her own stupid half-joke escaped her against her will, and the very next moment she was frustrated with letting it out.

If uninterrupted, she would just continue the way she was heading down the aisle, checking out further book headers, though with new things on her mind now.

Savis Maren was an oddity. This much she knew as fact, and possibly, it was a result of the Dark-Nuit. Though the Daek-Nuit preserved Savis' soul and flung it into a new body, the Animator that undertook the effort of turning Savis into a Nuit was not a Sahovan. No, the Nuit before Mauriel found her thoughts, at times, warped, sarcasm and a combative personality rising from her in the midst of rage she never knew she was capable of. Of course, the Nuit was no fool. One could not be arrested for hurting feelings, and she kept her offenses at that. However, the puzzlement upon Mauriel's features, the offense made the Nuit think that, perhaps the Ethaefal intended to leave her. Obsessed with the beautiful sight of the golden goddess before her as much as she hated it... she needed the woman to stay. The Projectionist pulled at her soul, diving beneath the aura and breaching into the depths of her astral body. As she called upon the power encased within the soul, Savis painted on the surface of the strip of paper nearest her. The rune Sutla was formed already, and Savis completed the rune with its finishing touches, marking the rune before holding it in her fist.

Savis' mind stretched to the layers of her astral body. Slow perforations were performed before she suffused the gap between forearm and elbow with djed. The astral forearm severed from its place, and the arm settled in her lap stayed limp on her thighs. Brandished across her legs like a pet cat, Savis offered sweet smiles of understanding as the Ethaefal professed her lacking readiness to hear about the dark splendors that the Nuit warned her of. Perhaps the mage sounded insane, and perhaps, in her deepest musings... she was. Savis' body limited the capacity she had for externalization. Happiness was a sensation seldom encountered, with only the joys of arcane manipulation driving her forward in existence. What was she without magic? She was dead, for one. Likely enough, without her talents the Ethaefal wouldn't have granted her access into the city. She'd be left alone to die in the wilds of Kalea and that was that. With the arcane, Savis could be... anything.

The Nuit shook her head as she branched forth with the astral limb. Her arm lay limp as its astral counterpart stretched forth beneath the table. Savis need use little caution in her endeavor, finding that the woman in front of her was clueless when it came to the arcane. Hardly even a season old! Oh, what the splendors of youth and beauty brought together. Mauriel brought soft chuckles to her Nuit counterpart's lips before her spectral hand reached forth. Slowly, it'd dip into the pockets of the Ethaefal's pants. She found neither coin nor metal in those reaches. What she did find, however, was an inkwell and her quills. She plucked them from her pocket, the invisible hand carrying the objects. It'd seem as if they were gripped by digits, though Savis Maren made sure she kept her manipulations as gentle as possible.

When the items rose in the air, she'd place them hapzardly along her own possessions. The playfulness ebbed within the Projectionist, her cold musings giving way to a smile that cast easily upon her expression.

"Oh, I don't despise you, Mauriel. I've been so wrapped up in what you are that I hardly know very much about you at all. However, how about... this? I'll give you back your inkwell and whatever else it was that I took if you tell me more about yourself. Perhaps I got too ahead of myself, you see. And I'd very much appreciate an open mind as I pick up the pieces of this dreadful encounter." The Nuit's tone was sickly sweet, but her words were genuine in nature. Savis Maren became foreign to emotion, and it to her. Yet, when it flowed forth it bubbled and erupted from her in droves.

Although Mauriel did feel a sensation of the items moving in her pocket, when she looked down there was nothing there, so she thought that she must have moved in a weird way or something. She would have carried a backpack if she had spent her money more responsibly and could afford a notebook, but all she used for now were pieces of parchment that she had bought per piece and she finally got over folding them to put them into her pocket after the fourth incident with the backpack and wings not mashing well together. Either way, she disregarded the sensation, thinking they must have been caused by her movement while she was intending to get up.

Savis' response to her little speech brought her a chuckle initially. "You despise the Ethaefal? Well, that's a first," she retorted, interrupting her before she could continue. She was genuinely surprised and a tad intrigued. Everybody had been treating her like a princess since she got here. Some out of sympathy for her plight, some out of devotion to Leth, some because they wanted to get under her skirt, and some because her godly traits inspired awe in them. Nobody has yet hated her because her race, of all of the possible reasons to hate her. While jealousy was understandable, she had yet to run into anybody who felt its burn as acutely as Savis Maren.

However, her light-hearted chuckle turned into a frown as she realized that she's been stolen from. "Oh, come on, you can't be serious." She couldn't afford a stupid notebook because she was buying furniture and clothes like a maniac, and now she needed to get a new set of ink and quills? She even took her goddamn spare quill. The Ethaefal sighed, still standing up. "Will you later tell me what you meant earlier if I do? With slavery and inability to see?" The question was not really posed to determine whether she'd stay, as she had already decided to get the petching ink and quills back, although it was meant to sound that way hopefully. The thing it truly decided was whether she'd fabricate her identity or give a more honest account of her time in this world. She was honestly aching to share, and despite everything she thought this woman was the first one to outright ask. Not about what Ethaefal are or how she felt being immortal or having been in Leth's domain or changing shapes or whatever. But about her actual experience of it, about herself. And she was still reassuring herself that it'd be okay to tell because this relationship wasn't going anywhere.
