Concept

Cassiea, like many people, cannot really be defined by just a few characteristics, although there are some traits that she would agree she exhibits. For instance, she's soft-hearted, and usually manages to scrape together some loose mizas if she walks past a beggar. However, she has also developed a thick skin, and she can cope relatively well with rejection. Then there's her manner around others, sometimes cool, other times exuberant. It all depends on the situation, the people, the place. She enjoys running and training herself to be stronger, but also loves a relaxing soak in a hot spa, when she can afford it. She is a woman of simple pleasures, but also takes delight in a Lhavitian party as much as the next gal.

Home

Cassiea's home is not large, in fact it is the standard size of all cottages at the Okomo Estates. Her home is furnished with the bare minimum, decorated with nothing but a few unwashed cups here and there, and is usually colder than is probably wise. A window looks out at a small patch of land that has been taken over by weeds, and one small stray seeded tree that is struggling to find light next to all the other unwanted plants.

Cassiea's heirloom is a dagger that was a gift from her mother and father once she reached her sixteenth birthday. The weapon has a carved wooden handle made from a dark, reddish wood. The pommel is a polished metal which gives the dagger some weight, and the actual blade is polished to a high shine. The dagger was presented to her in a leather scabbard that can be strapped to her belt, and it holds a great deal of significance to the young woman because it was the first time she actually saw her father as a fatherly figure.

History

Cassiea has had a normal upbringing for the most part. She was the youngest of three children in a small house, so her childhood was lively and full of play. Her mother was a traditional housewife, but she was also the smarter of her parents, and so she took over the teaching of her three children. Cassiea was versed in speaking, reading, and writing, but also learnt how to make things with her hands, and some basic cooking too.

Every day after her education was finished, she went with her mother and siblings to the market, or they went to gather wild ingredients from the outskirts of the city to add to the meal of the evening. Sometimes, their mother took them to the fascinating inner city to look at Lhavit's amazing architecture. Sometimes, her mother would show her the auristics she'd learnt when she was younger, but they never progressed very far in lessons. Her mother always seemed somewhat reluctant to practice her magic, and as a youth, Cassiea found it difficult to master.

When Cassiea got older, she was encouraged to find a job, and she was given a small pot of kina that the family had been saving for each of their children. She spent some of the kina on a home, finally moved out, and has been living peacefully there ever since.

Family

Cassiea has two siblings who are both older than her by five to seven years. Her brother is named Jamathal and he is the oldest. Jamathal progressed to becoming a gardener after he left home, and Cassiea enjoys visiting him, even if he is a little irritating, because his home is pleasant and fragrant. Her sister is called Sabeline, but she went missing in Winter 518 after several years of poor personal planning and heavy drinking. Cassiea is worried about her, of course, but no-one in the family was really surprised.

Cassiea's mother is called Wairale, and she is secretly relieved her children have all left home. She is married to Calem, who provides the family with their income. Calem is a trader, though Cassiea never really paid much attention to her father or his work, as the two don't really see eye to eye. Calem was always disappointed that he ended up with only one son, and for some reason Cassiea has taken it rather personally.
