Sivian SteelHardt

Sivian is of average height for a human, with broad shoulders and a heavy walk. Normally. he keeps his shoulder length black hair pushed back to hang over his ears, revealing his weathered face from 15 years of nomadic wandering. His distaste with cumbersome and heavy armors is contrasted by his unfortunate need for defense in the dangerous world hes been born into. He compromises and opts for wearing as much armor as he can without limiting his own movement, normally consisting of just a breastplate and grieves. It might seem that he wishes to be as combat ready as possible, and sure thats what he'll tell you; But deep down he just dislikes the way it feels to awkwardly contort his body into one of those heavy armored suits. Sivian is also commonly seen adorning himself with a cloak, wrapped about his shoulders in a way to resemble a lords tunic and covering his armor from the unsuspecting eye.

Character Concept
Sivian is a dark and gritty take on the adventurer lifestyle. He makes his money in ways he wishes he didn't have to (read below) and longs for the days before he left his home, full of regrets that keep him from returning.

Character History

Sivian was born to Drelad and Marmia in the mining town of Sunberth in the year 484. His parents were quiet, yet loving and playful. In a hardened town such as Sunberth, an upbringing like his was one to be desired. His family wasnt poor, however money was not abundant either. Sivian helped out his parents by gathering coin any way he could, which most of the time came from killing pests and hunting for the locals.

Sivian spent a considerable amount of his free time reading, though the scarcity of these books caused issue. He cared little for learning, however, he wanted to hear about heroes of old and their adventures. These legends and myths blended into a fantasy of Sivians and clouded his mind for years to come.

These delusions eventually began to conflict with the wishes of his parents. They were reasonable, and they needed help in their small hut like apartment, but Sivian spent his time fantasizing about adventure more than he did hunting. One of the city mages, Othellyn, took notice of Sivian's parental disobedience, and offered his parents a chance to correct it.

Othellyn had one bargain, he would whip the young 19 year old Sivian into shape, and as payment he would inherit Sivian as an apprentice. Othellyn honeyed his words, using the word "apprentice" as a stand-in for "servant" and Sivians parents were quick to strike the bargain.

Othellyn made quick work, finding Sivian on an evening in which his mind was deeply invested in a story of an old wanderer who walks the land and kills evil-doers. There was no kind request, nor any discussion with a bit of civility. Othellyn owned Sivian now, and he knew this. With a snap of his fingers, Sivians books ignited in a deep orange and purple flame, reducing them to ash.

Sivian had invested a significant portion of his life to gathering those books, losing out on many years of socializing and potential friends and even a wife. He didnt take lightly to seeing all the work and sacrifices he made burst into magical flame. Just as the flames erupted, so did Sivians anger. Such a sight was rare, as Sivian was slow to anger but in this moment his retribution was quick.

He struck Othellyn with a clenched fist to the temple. The mage began a wicked rage, casting some other sort of magical spell throwing Sivian into his burning books and shouting his hateful words toward the boy.

There are few forks in the road of life as important as the one Sivian was about to make. Such choices as these only come once or twice a lifetime, and Sivian made his choice. In a disgusting mix of fear and rage, the young man sprung up, grabbing his broadsword used for hunting and plunging it deep into the belly of Othellyn.

The view of confusion on the mages face slowly turned to acknowledgement of his own fate. He was a twisted man, but a smart one at that. He knew when his life was over. His eyes locked with Sivians for a moment that seemed to last for an eternity, as Sivians eyes faded from rage to fear and understanding of what he had done. At his feet laid Othellyn, bloodied and dead as all the animals he had hunted before. A sick feeling of regret began to twist his stomach into a knot, a knot that would stay for the rest of his life.

Sivian was ashamed, and scared. He didnt have time to wish a farewell to his parents. He had to be like the wanderer in his stories. He gathered what little belongings he could get into his knapsack and clung his broadsword to the first horse he could find and road off into the wilderness. He didnt dare look back, he couldnt bare to see Sunberth or face the consequences of the things he had just done.

Word of Sivian the Mage Killer circled the land quickly, legends quickly spun out of control about him in a glorious battle with Othellyn. Sivian hated these stories, but they were not without benefit. He used this title to begin his new life as a bounty hunter. Though he would stick to what he was good at, killing mages.

Let me shed some light on the situation

Welcome to Miz, Sivian; we've spoken a bit in chat, but I'm Luminescence, and I'm here to help. Your CS is on the right track, there are just some things you need to fix before you continue.

*Your concept: I would encourage you to flesh out your concept a bit more; it doesn't have to be very long or detailed, but it's usually good to include a bit about your PC's personality, even if it's just a list of likes or dislikes, flaws, etc. Also, please note that permanent nomadic wandering is near impossible to start. At best Sivian would be able to wander between cities and sometimes spend a few days in the wilderness.

*Your history: Just a note, but Sunberth hasn't been a mining town for a very long time. There are absolutely no city mages in Sunberth, at least none that are known, because they would be dead. Sunberth despises magic and anyone caught or suspected of using it is usually killed on sight.

Your descriptions of magic also need to be adjusted if you are going to use them; magic in Miz works a fair bit differently than in most other fantasy settings. I would encourage you to look over the magic lore a bit if you plan on incorporating it at all into your backstory. Magic is not instantaneous and done with finger snapping, nor is there anything that could make someone 'own' someone else.

Another small note, but broadswords aren't usually used for hunting as far as I'm aware. Also, rumours would not circulate around the entirety of Mizahar of one person killing someone else. Killing is very commonplace, especially in a city like Sunberth, and it would take a lot for a rumour to gain enough traction to reach other cities.

*Your skills: Skills need to be ordered alphabetically, and further by competency if you so choose. Also, you have no skill points listed. You have 50 SP (starting package) points to distribute as you wish (minimum of 5 and maximum of 30 in one skill), plus as a Human you get a 15 RB (racial bonus) to one skill of your choice.

Note that 'Swordplay' is not an actual skill; weapon skills are very specific, so it would be 'Weapon: Shortsword' or 'Weapon: Longsword', etc. You would probably want to take 'Weapon: Broadsword'. If you plan on having Sivian be nomadic at all then you absolutely need the Wilderness Survival skill; I would recommend at least Competent level if you want to be in the wilderness for several days at a time. Please take a closer look at the Wilderness Survival lore page for more details.

*Your lores: You may only start with two lores.

*Your possessions: Please pick a cloak OR coat.

*Your housing: You have to choose a city to live in. As I mentioned, being a permanent nomad is not feasible to start; with the correct level of Wilderness Survival, you can spend a few days in the wilderness at a time, but you need a city to spend the rest of your time in. Also, note that you can take the tent housing Starting Package if you wish (which comes with a few useful items including a tent; otherwise you need to purchase your tent and gear), though note that not all cities allow tent living.

*Your ledger: You mention having armour in your description of Sivian; if he wears armour, then you need to purchase it and deduct the cost from your ledger, as well as add the items to your possessions list. Otherwise, he simply does not own that equipment at this point. This goes for any other equipment not included in the Starting Package as well.

*General: You can remove things like 'helpful hints' from your CS. Also, don't forget to link your CS to your profile through the User Control Panel!

Once you've made the above corrections, let me know and I'll remove this intervention. Otherwise, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to either PM me or find me in chat!
