8 Winter 520
Sitting at his desk Moritz looked about, waiting once more for the next part of the lesson. Today he was in math class, going over something or other involving making things bigger and smaller. Which to Mortiz mind seemed to be most of what math was.
Their instructor for math was Izo, the same person who taught cooking, who always seemed well coifed and ready for anything to Moritz eyes. Moritz did not doubt that if a giant monster came crashing in the man would take in all in stride and have just the right tool to address it. But while Moritz felt he himself had such an air while being serious and cleancut, Izo seemed to do it while joking and being fun all at once. Something Moritz did not think he could muster himself even if he tried.
For todays class chalkboards and chalk had been passed out, and Izo was writing on the front large board.
"Okay class, next is some multiplication and division. For multiplication, think of it this way. You have clusters of the same thing. Say five starfruits. And you have a certain number of clusters, say six. So how many star fruit total would you have? Five, ten, fifteen, twenty, twenty five, thirty star fruit."
Moritz nodded in recognition, understanding the example in its physical nature. Multiplication was just like that, a way of counting groups of things... And division..
"On the other hand division its breaking up a group across so many people. Say you have twenty star fruit, and four people, how many would each person get? Four goes into twenty, four, eight, twelve, sixteen, and twenty, so five each. Assuming you don't have that one friend who sneaks an extra, and another who doesn't like to eat star fruit, then each would get five to keep or eat."
Moritz nodded again, pondering on the words from Izo. He did seem to try to explain things in a way anyone could understand, rather than just throwing information at them.
As Izo began to write out some math problems on the board for them to copy and solve Moritz looked about at the other students at his table. One was a young boy, though likely older than Moritz appeared. Another was a girl, perhaps a bit on the small size for her age whereas Mortiz was on the tall side for his own. Moritz for his part appeared like he was about eleven in his human form, though anyone who saw his eyes would know he was not just a normal human.
He had his eyes marking him as a Kelvic, matching a Okomo, though not functioning so well in the head of a human as it did when properly spaced on the head of an Okomo. In addition to that, since not many days earlier in the season, he also had markings on his eyes from his initiation into Pathfinding. All in all it did not take many more than a quick look at his eyes to note he was not human.
Not even to mention his pelt, hair in his human form, which in color matched the hue and pattern of his Okomo pelt and did not look normal on a human without die involved.
With nothing else to do until Izo finished writing out the problems for them to work on Moritz looked about the room, scanning and considering and passing his eyes from one person to another.
