The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

The Crimson Springs are a strange hot springs outside of the city, a few miles east outside of the Sartu Peak, bordering on the Unforgiving. The Crimson Springs, as per their name, are known for their vivid red waters. The water is extremely hot, even for a hot spring, to the point where attempting to bathe in the Crimson Springs is not just uncomfortable but impossible without suffering severe burns. Steam constantly rolls across the water's surface and drifts into the air around the Springs.

ImageNobody is quite sure why the Springs exhibit such a strange, vividly coloured water. An old story goes that Krysus, the Goddess of murder and pain, once visited the Springs, where she spent three days and three nights torturing and murdering a man who had personally wronged her, and that his agony and spilled blood permanently turned the waters red. Nobody knows if this is true, however the old story, combined with the unsettling colour of the Springs and the extreme heat, makes the place rarely visited. Lhavitians regard the Springs with a sense of overall unease, and some claim it is cursed.

While the intense heat of the waters rise with the steam and can be felt even standing several feet away, the greenery around the Springs is surprisingly vibrant. Even when most plants are dying due to the weather or season, the plants around the Springs seem to retain some vitality and colour. Despite superstition and rumours, if one can get over the strangeness of the Springs, it is actually quite a beautiful sight.

It is not uncommon for more adventurous people to journey out to the Springs to see it for themselves, or for young adults to dare each other to spend a night near the Springs as a test of courage. There is also a rumour that if someone were to somehow withstand or get around the extreme heat coming from the Springs, that the water has strange, wonderous properties.

Some people have also claimed to see a shadowy figure haunting the Springs at night, howling into the darkness with glowing eyes; this only serves to fuel the rumours and superstition surrounding the Springs.

Misery is a somewhat unconventional Zith; she teeters the edge of being civilized, or as civilized as one of her kind can be, and feral. She has been an outcast among her kind since a young age, always fascinated by humans and other races and wanting to learn about them, their cultures, and civilization.

She learned the hard way at a relatively young age that Zith are abhorred and not welcome in Lhavit, and has lived her life on the fringes of society ever since, deciding to leave her colony not long after. Misery lives on her own near the Crimson Springs, sometimes venturing closer to the city in hopes of meeting someone willing to actually talk to her.

Misery delights in talking with non-Zith and attempting to make friends, but she is not very good at socialization, and she still carries many Zith mannerisms, which can be disconcerting. She is enthusiastic and somewhat aggressive, and can be mercurial in her moods; attempts to be friendly are often seen as intimidating. Misery is deeply lonely, which makes her somewhat desperate when interacting with others, which doesn't help her appear less threatening.

She can also still be rather violent; she still delights in torturing her prey before eating, though she rarely eats humanoids, partially because taking them down alone is more difficult and partially because she has a soft spot for them.

Misery haunts the Crimson Springs as its unofficial keeper, more commonly coming out at night, and will often approach people who come by the springs, especially those who come alone or at night.
