[The Bizarre] Departing with Mizas (Vizyous)

11th Day of Winter, 510 AV

Vizyous was sure that he would eventually have to get a job or find some form of making money again. His week supply of food was up, and even though he'd gone a day and a half without eating, it wasn't doing any good for him. He'd woken with elongated fangs, nearly gnawing on his own flesh, and it felt as if his stomach was eating itself.

The week he'd lived in Alvadas had been enjoyable and engaging, but very tiring. It left Vizyous's hungry for something other than the fruit and preserved meet he'd had, for a more satisfying meal, like human. As he made his way into the building that he knew to be the Bizarre of Alvadas, his stomach twisted angrily at him. There were so many victims-- so many possible victims, so many meals. The air tingled with their scents, and along with the smells of actual food cooked and ready, it took all of Vizyous's self control to not bare fangs as others bumped into him in their hurried way.

Careful to keep away from others, Vizyous navigated throughout the large building that seemed entirely composed of buyers and sellers. As long as the eye could see, there was no end to the amount of space in front of him, just the far wall of the building that seemed to move away from Vizyous with each step he took towards it. He'd explored this building before-- it was no surprise to him as it had been when he'd first discovered it, yet the already unsteady man only felt that the never ending space in front of him only made him feel more disoriented and dizzy.

He had no interest in mounts or tools, all Vizyous wanted at the moment were large quantities of food that would last him for a long while. To the merchant woman that he'd found selling fruit, he must have seemed crazy as he leaned against the small empty space of her display table. "Two pounds of apples," Vizyous wheezed out, nearly devouring the fruit lying in front of him with his eyes, "and two ounces of cherries."

As soon as he handed over 3 gold mizas to the woman and got his fruit back in exchange, Vizyous shoved a handful or cherries into his mouth and bit down. He nearly groaned as their skin was smashed by his teeth and their pits melted by his venom, releasing sweet, almost bitter juice that he was sure had to be an acquired taste into his mouth.

Vizyous opened his eyes, not even having remembered closing them, and found the woman that had sold them to him staring at him oddly. He brushed it off and continued on, eating the rest of the ounce he'd started on.

"What'll it be?" He heard from his right, bringing him back from his cherry-induced lethargic state. In front of him was meat of all kinds and cuts, delicious meat that he had run out of nearly four days ago...

"One pound of corned beef, three pounds of pork sausage." Vizyous frowned slightly, "...and a preserving kit along with a basket." He was buying enough that it would hopefully last him a while, if he could preserve it right. 12 gold mizas were handed over, and after carefully placing the meat in the basket and getting his 6 silver mizas back, Vizyous turned to leave the Bizarre, basket and backpack in hand.

As he discovered before, the exit was right there as soon as he needed it.

By the time he'd reached his home, Vizyous was definitely worried that maybe the cherries had been ruined. He expected that, as he set down his things on the floor of his still scarce house, red, sticky liquid would be staining his newly bought items. When he opened the basket, though, it wasn't so, and inside lay his cherries, corned beef, and sausage in tact.

With a sigh of relief, Vizyous quickly took out the various parts of the preserving kit he bought from his pack, setting down the jars on the ground and carefully placing the container of salt next to them. There were 2 medium-sized jars with lids, a decent amount of salt, a stack of cloths, and a container large enough to hold a few slabs of meat. He hesitated for a while, staring at what lay before him.

He'd been exposed to these things while in his merchant group and had seen his peers using them, but he'd never salted meat himself or even placed fruit in a jar. Vizyous unscrewed the lid of one of the jars and carefully placed the ounce of cherries he had left inside, tackling the easiest thing to preserve first. He put the lid back on, then was about to set it back down on the ground before he paused. Wait, was he supposed to salt them too, or would that just make them dry out?

He set the jar down finally, deciding that the cherries wouldn't last long either way, and he didn't want to eat them shriveled. Vizyous took out his knife and cut off enough of the sausage to hold him for most of the day, then set it aside on the table to eat later. Would it make it spoil faster if it was already cut? Not wanting to take any chances, Vizyous laid out a long cloth onto the ground and placed the sausage on it, then sprinkled more salt than he would have had he not cut it. He wrapped it up in the cloth, not seeing what purpose it would have otherwise, and then moved it into the meat container.

Now for the corned beef. From what Vizyous knew, corned beef still required salt, but he wasn't sure how much. Wasn't corned beef already salted? He pulled out a large cloth from the decreasing stack of cloths and placed the meat onto it, then sprinkled a smaller amount of salt onto it and wrapped it up. Luckily, there was enough room in the meat container to hold it, and he shut the lid of it.

Vizyous wasn't worried much about the apples. The way he ate they wouldn't last very long, so he dumped them from his bag to the now empty basket, then moved the basket up onto the small wooden table of his house. He moved the heavy meat container to the darkest corner of the room, having at least enough knowledge to know that Syna's light dries things out.

He moved the remaining empty jar and smaller cloths left onto the table, then gave a deep breath. All in all, the whole process hadn't been that tiring, but it sure did worry him. He didn't want to have to go out again and buy more food. With a slight shrug, Vizyous picked up the sausage he'd left out and devoured it, then headed out the door, his stomach now satisfied.

Secret :
2gm for 2 lbs apples, 1gm for 2 oz cherries, 3gm for lb corned beef, 3gm for 3 lb pork sausage, 5gm preserving kit, 1 gm for basket (4 sm) gives 6sm change. Total is 11gm and 4sm spent...Correct? I wasn't sure how giving a gm for something that costs less than a gm works.

Items Acquired
2 lbs apples
2 oz cherries,
1 lb corned beef
3 lb pork sausage
1 preserving kit
1 basket

Ledger
- 11 gm, 4 sm

Additional Notes:Very appetizing thread :). You did everything right in regards to payment. 1gm=10sm=100cm, so paying for something costing 4sm with 1 gm and receiving 6 sm back is the right thing to do.
