[Stormhold Castle] The Claw and Fang

The Claw and Fang

Rohnn entered the cavernous halls of Stormhold Castle and gazed in jaw-dropping wonder. The walls were majestically decorated with banners and trophies honouring the Syliran Knight's past accomplishments. Large taxidermed statues and animal heads lined the hall up to one lone door. Above it, hung a Stag head trophy. The antlers, spanning a length of at least 3 feet, wound themselves in twists and turns that barely seemed possible. The ape-like creature approached the door that stood at the end of the hall, knocking on the wooden frame and awaiting a reply.

'These Sylirans must love to live in the comfort of death'

Rohnn frowned towards the trophies.

mod noteStormhold castle does not have decorations of dead animals hanging on the walls. I will repost the castle description. Maybe private residences would have them, but this place does not in the public corridors.

Description:

To some Syliran Knights, Stormhold is the heart of the world. With is elegant watchtowers, each one dedicated to a different god or goddess, its uniquely rounded domes, and its enormous sprawling structure, Stormhold is the center of the Syliran Knighthood. The entirety of the castle is built around a single enormous tree that overlooks the Suvan Sea on a cliff high above. The Windoak, a fragment monster of the slain god Sylir, is the essence of the Syliran Knighthood and the reason the city of Syliras exists. In the dark years after the Valterrian, the Dyres family discovered the unusual tree and took in its teachings, taking courage and determination until they were able to gather a force worthy enough to protect what they had discovered and build a fortress around it. With the Windoak's help, the Dyres were able to found the Knighthood, and begin construction on the castle itself. Then, once Stormhold was built, a city grew up around it, supporting the castle and aiding the knights in their most noble purpose - to carve civilization or some semblance thereof - back out of the savage world around them. Due to the knights efforts, Syliras thrived. And from this one city, civilization stretched out across the region of Sylira - bringing order in an otherwise savage land.

Stormhold Castle is enormous and has multiple layers. Unlike other castles just designed to house leadership or royal families, Stormhold was designed to house the entirety of Syliras in times of crisis - both weatherwise, magic wise, and from any number of the marauders that often threaten the city. Stormhold is divided into four tiers. The top tier - often referred to as the first tier - is the home of the Dyres family, important members of the Syliran Knighthood, and their entire families. Being the smallest tier, it is also the most well secured. The second tier, just below, is the tier that houses the government facilities, offices, and officials of Syliras. Just below that, on the third tier, some of the prominent families of the Syliran Knights and merchants of Syliras reside. The fourth tier, a vast warren of underground passages, is designed to house the Syliran Bazaar and the rest of the city in times of trouble. The fourth tier - or the underground as its called - is also where the city stores its hordes of foodstuffs.

It was strange that the seat of Syliras' rulers and citizens has its doors wide open. There was an entrance into the bazaar and a grand sweeping staircase that lead upwards to the third tier where most people lived and owned private shops. The stairways swept upwards even further to the second tier, though there seemed to way to reach the first tier from the castle entrance. Though, that part did not really matter. Rohnn was looking for the second tier and the office of Loren Dyres. He tended to see anyone who happened to drop by during his office hours. And because of his open door policy, there was never really any wait.

Rohnn could ask anyone who wandered the halls where to go and they'd point him to the corner office overlooking the ocean and a quaint little courtyard below it. The office had a small reception area with a young non-descript tattooed Myrian male. He politely asked Rohnn what he was there for, then waved him into Loren's office not seeming phased by the fact that Rohnn was a Jamoura.

The office itself was made of old wood and stone. Hardwood floors held up a bulky wooden bookshelf that partially wrapped around the office like a library. A winestain colored throw rug graced the floor where a large wooden desk divided the room between a seating area with two chairs facing the desk, and Loren's seat behind it. Twin windows framed the far wall, with heavy drapes pulled back to let the weak winter light in.

Loren lifted his head, a young human in his prime, and smiled. "Greetings. It's so rare one of your kind makes it to our city. How can I help you?" He asked carefully, rising to come around the desk and shake the Jamoura's hand. There was no way Rohnn would be able to sit on one of the chairs provided, so Loren met him on his feet.
