Hiring Mercenaries & Seeking Companions!

I will be requiring a bodyguard or two to journey with me on my trade route. We will be journeying over land, from Avanthal to Karjin, carrying a small cargo of carved wooden holy symbols of Avanthalian craftsmanship, worth around 125 gold mizas maximum in total. Once we reach Karjin and sell stock, you will be paid a 20% of the total earned on this trip and also be paid an extra fee that depends on how well you tell stories on the long trip there and how much danger we face! Sound good?

Competent warriors with their own mounts are preferred. There will, of course, be plenty of opportunity for shared campfires, storytelling, and bonding. Being a merchant, I have little fighting capability and require better fighters to do the combat side of things for me. As this is but my maiden trading mission, I have little to give, and taking this contract is a risk. Please be aware of this.

Interested applicants should apply ICly via the thread listed below. Offer might expire quickly, as I am only going to hire only one - possibly two, if the second one is willing to tag along as part of a 'caravan convoy' rather than a hired sword. Which has me bring up a certain point. If anyone in Avanthal wishes to join in the trip and simply tag along, you are very welcome to do so. The same rules apply - your own mount, to keep up with the pace, and so on. Once we reach Karjin and sell stock, I may move on to Syliras by taking ship, and you can choose whether or not you want to tag along with me. Anyone joining this little caravan should, apart from bringing their own mount, also bring with them a skill or two. If you are not a warrior, fret not, bringing with you a craftsman's skill or two is sufficient. This makes us something of a traveling circus.

I like your intiative, but please do allow me to point out some things out. First off, a travel from Avanthal to the Sylira region (even to its closest city),would be hellishly long. Second, you should also need to check out the wages part of the price list. There you will see that paying someone 20 gold for the entire journey is really under pricing their work. A mercenary doing that level of work would be paid at least 5 or 6 gold mizas a day, and with that in mind let me suggest you another way. You could gather up a group of adventurers that bands with you on your journey for whatever reason (i.e. friends, family, aspiring companion merchants....). The bottom line is, hardly anyone could afford more than 2 mercenaries with only their starting package money, but if you are still fixed onto the idea, you should get a job first and try this once you have gathered up some money to be able to pay the people who work for you. As a side note, never and i mean it NEVER travel during winter... it is but a poor suicide!

Hmhnn... Is that so? Then I suppose it could be done to just travel from Avanthal to Karjin as a starter trip, and pay a single mercenary with 20% of overall profits from the journey. Would that be fair, you think?

Then possibly take ship from Karjin to Syliras, and if they want to tag along it is entirely up to them.

Karjin is still closed for roleplay as it is indeed in development, so you will have to revise that thought with Cheshire and possibly the founders. Also, the price seems fair, as it can be anything from small to huge and with that chance you shouldn't have a problem catching someone who wants to leave town.

Avoiding Karjin? Well, that means the original plan of going from Avanthal to Syliras has to continue. But the fees ... Eh, that should work then... An overland journey of such proportions would have to be done via commission. I think I should just rack up more funds in Avanthal and wait for Spring to pass, then go in the Summer, to Syliras.
