Season of Spring, day 13, 511 AV

ImageFreya walked down the crowded street of Sunberth holding her horse by its reins and wearing her satchel around her shoulder and rested on her hip. She showed some caution as she traveled through this town since she very much well knew of the crime that happens here do to a lack of government, but she wasn’t too worried about it. Even though she was only 18 years old she was fully capable of defending herself against robbers. She wore very simple, but still attractive clothing. She wore a knee length dress sewn of deep red fabric and a black corset wrapped tightly around her waist putting emphasis on her chest. Her long brown hair blew freely in the wind and her piercing silver eyes stood out from all the bold colors she was wearing.

As she was crossing a street she was looking side to side checking to see if there was any oncoming traffic and once the streets were cleared she casually walked across the street. She wanted to try and get out of the town before night fall so that she could go into the wilderness and set up her tent for the night, but if she didn’t meet that time limit then she would have to be forced to stay here for a night, but what also discouraged her was that she didn’t own much ledger to be able to afford a room to stay in. She let out a small sigh looking out into the distance at the sun and predicted that she had about 5 hours before the sun would begin to set so she began to pick up pace intending to get to the wilderness as quickly as possible and avoid any conflict that might delay her.

"Excuse me, sir, but I know I won that vet fair and square!" Damn these old people, always trying to cheat her out of her hard earned money. Envy didn't know why she kept gambling with them, when she knew she probably lost more than she was owed. "Don't point your wrinkly old finger at me," her voice was laced with a bit of an accent. "Give me my money now!"

The old man sat back and eyed her with deceitful grey eyes. Two large men came out from behind him, taking up their body guard posts. Envy glared them down, showing no fear of the bohemiths. She grit her teeth together, and just before she turned to leave, she quickly snatched the man's money bag, and took off at a sprint.

As Freya was walking across the street she felt a violent shove push her down. “What the hell!” Freya shouted clearly aggravated about this. She half expected a large rude man just pushing her down because she was in his way, but she was actually surprised to find a female, roughly around her age, on the ground as well clutching a money bag in her hand. Freya let out a little annoyed breath of air as she got herself back to her feet and re-secured her grip on her horse’s reigns. “Watch where you are going next time, you could have startled my horse and that wouldn’t be good for either of us.” Freya said bitterly as she stroked her horse’s side to calm him down.

Passing through [OPEN]

Postby K'taana on April 21st, 2011, 1:55 pm

K'taana tugged her cowl farther down over her brilliant green eyes, trying to hide her face. Her long, dull brown cloak swept the ground around her, hiding the black riding breeches and dark blue knee length tunic she wore. Her horse, Slate, pranced nervously as they passed through the stalls and other traffic. The saddle bags bounced ominously against his sides as he shied away from a piece of trash. "Shh, boy. Qui-et." Her sing-song voice did not seem to make much of an impact on the young Mixed Blood.

They continued to fight their way through the crowd, the Konti girl growing more self-conscious by the moment. There were slavers here, and she would be a prime target. While one hand controlled the nervous horse, the other was tense at her hip, where her dull eating knife lay tucked into her belt. Little good it would against a gang of slavers. It was times like these that K'taana wondered why she had left home.

She tried to dodge around a bit of a scuffle between two girls, one with a horse, the other looking rather wild, her hair messy and her clothing covered with dust, evidence of the fall. But while traffic was thin here, as she tried to lead Slate on their right, past the horse, a pair of boys raced their horses past, and she had to pull Slate up short next to the horse. He immediately flattened his ears, lunged in front of K'taara's chest, and bit the other horse on the rump.

Envy eyed the girl for a moment. Not in a threatening fashion or violent, she just eyed her, but it did not last long. The sounds of heavy footsteps and loud men's voices were approaching fast. Thinking quickly, she was on her feet in an instant, hiding next to the girl beside the horse, making sure that the men didn't see are when they passed.

She watched them run until they came to a turn point, where they had finally disappeared. She turned to the girl, "Yeah...sorry about that. I was distracted by those horribles." She gave the girl a crooked smile, "Thanks for the hiding place, by the way. Very nice horse you got here," and about that time another horse took a big bite out of the hiding place Envy had just found.

Freya looked at the woman. "Um, thank you?" She said awkwardly looking at her sceptically seeing her defensive and suspicious behavior. She would have asked what she was doing, but she decided against it. Besides what ever buisness this person had it was nt for Freya to find out. "If you want to hide the best place would be to get out of here, just so you know." She said sarcastically disting off her shirts trying to get the dirt off the fabric.

Suddenly Freya's horse let out a loud wailing neigh kicking back and forth and thrashing around trying to get away. Freya let out a small yelp tightening her grip on the reigns of the horse so it wouldn't get away. She quickly pushed Envy aside and stroked her horse gently to calm him down. It took a wile, but soon the horse was calmed down and stood still once again. She flashed a small glare to the owner of the other horse letting her know that she wasn't exactly happy with what had happened.

Slate snapped his head away, backpedaling frantically to avoid the lashing hooves of the horse. "Oi!" she yelled at him, and snapped the end of a rein against his neck aggressively. He rolled his eyes in mock fear. She kept the reins taught as he shifted about in excitement, trying to round his hindquarters on the two young women and the nervous horse. She nodded to the other owner, tugging her cowl from where it has slipped back over her scarf-bound forehead. "Sorry about him. But really," her tone changing, "What were you doing in the middle of the road, anyway?" It had turned from an apology into an accusation something quick. She inwardly berated herself for not keeping her mouth shut. The last thing she needed was to draw any attention to herself, especially in a place like Sunberth. But she felt as though she didn't carry all the blame here.

Ever caught her balance after being pushed aside, and was about to say something god awful rude, but it seemed someone had already beaten her to it. She raised her eyebrows at the new women, "I would guess the same as you, ma'am. Not to be rude, of course, but a lady does have a right to walk her horse down the road the same as you were doing."

She offered the woman a smile, and then turned it to her hiding place, "Thanks again." Taking a few steps away, she heard the all too familiar sounds of boots on durt road and the shouts of angry men. She let out a groan, "Oh god," She hastily returned back to her original hiding place next to the woman and behind the horse. As soon as the noises had once again faded, she peeked over the horses back. She turned her head to face the girl with a childish smile, "We have to stop meeting like this." She let out a small laugh.

Freya took a quick glance at the two women standing beside her listening to them questioning her. She wanted nothing more than to walk away without giving them an answer, but she knew that they at least disserved a broad answer. “I am just traveling through town hopping to get out of this hell hole and to actually get my tent set up before the sun goes down.” She pulled her horse closer to her side and then turned to look at Envy. “What ever you are hiding from I suggest you get out of this place before your hiding spot leaves town.” She said this slightly bitterly only because she was annoyed that these people were delaying her from getting out of Sunberth.

Envy flashed her a smile, and let her head fall at a slight decline. "As you wish." She backed away, and there came that annoying sound of footsteps and yelling. "Hope to be seeing you soon." With that, she took off at a run down the street. Leaving the two behind, as well as the guards that chased her. 'Now where to hide,' she thought absently to herself as she rounded the corner, dodging various people heading the opposite way.
