Spring 15th, AV 511
The first thought to cross Asara Willow's mind was Why am I lying on the ground? Once the thought had passed Asara realized it was a good question. There she was, lying on the ground in what felt like the fetal position, not even knowing why she was there.
It was then that she felt it, the profound sense of loss, the horrible loneliness. So, her second thought was Why the hell am I feeling this way? of course, she had no answers. She barely knew who she was, she couldn't even picture what she looked like, and she had absolutely no idea of why she was here, lying on the ground, feeling lonely, and with no recognition of anything she was.
So, slowly shifting her long arms, the small female tried to open her eyes. Immediately she was plagued with a vicious headache and she cried out in pain, digging her curled nails into her palms to fight back a scream.
Something hot and sticky clotted to her long hair and stained her fair skin; she could feel it throught the massive headache. Blood also made her shirt stick to her stomach, and her movement caused it to painfully tug at the torn flesh.
Asara, for she at least knew that was her name, had never experienced such pain. As far as you know... whispered a snide voice in her mind, easily heard among the pain, which quickly faded away. Open your eyes, you stupid girl. Open your eyes and see if anyone is around... You didn't do this to yourself, after all.
Asara obeyed the cruel voice in her thoughts, and her eyes opened wide. The large pupils dilated in the light of the setting sun. For some reason, she felt irritated by the light. Of course, upon realizing where her irritation was directed she grew even more irritated at herself. She had no reason to fuss over a bit of sunlight when she had more important issues to solve, one being the loss of her own identity, the other being the fierce pang of hunger that made itself known now that the headache had faded.
Well, feed yourself. Whispered that cold thought, and Asara had to agree. But first, she had to make sure she was fully functional.
Slowly adjusting her pale limbs, Asara sat up. Amusement clouded her mind as she looked down at herself, noting that she appeared to have been viciously attacked and left for dead... Something that puzzled her since any real blow should have crippled her. Tilting her head, Asara touched the source of the blood trickling down her face. She then looked at the blood on her fingertips and scowled.
Rising to her feet slowly, feeling new pangs of pain in assorted places, Asara looked around to get her bearings, her pale gold eyes flashing in the sunlight. In the distance she saw a barn, and immediately she started off for it, hoping to get there before she fell and never rose again.
