He was faster than the average human, and wanting the game to extend, he had started off by racing at same pace the woman had fallen into. The smells of the forest filled his senses, and within the ferns and towering trees he could smell the twinge of fear lacing the path of the young woman. In the distance he could see the pulsing of her image, the heat radiating off her body as she began to perspire. The radiant glow disappeared and reappeared as she ran through the thicket of trees, but he stayed far enough to see how long it would take for her to begin to lose her energy. Cinder didn't hunt like a normal Dhani. Many snakes would wait for the prey to fall into their territory before they would strike. He hunted like a wolf might, tracking down its prey until they had worn themselves thin and could do nothing more than watch in vain as they were trapped by their own frailty. Unlike a wolf though he didn't strike at the very moment, but instead prolonged the agony until they were begging for death. The need to succumb eating at every part, every vein of their body before he would join in. Cinder began to speed up, closing in on the girl. It was only when he saw another image of heat coming from farther ahead that he slowed down. Had he not had the vision in the night of a Dhani Cinder would have not noticed the Kelvic rounding in on the girl. His mind had slipped into that of a predator, focused on nothing else but the meal ahead. He came to a full stop only twenty yards away as he saw the collision of heat. A laugh uttered from his throat, quiet, but amused. So she had decided to join. He knew there was something about this girl that was much more than just a meal. It didn't take much to spark her curiosity. Inside every being was a killer, whether it be for food or fun, or both, each individual had potential to kill. There were some out there though that were closer to the snapping point, Nirvana. He wondered how far she would go. The little meat eater that had stuck to small prey already had a taste for flesh, but field mice would never be as satisfying as this. Choosing to walk instead of run he snaked through the trees, silent walking closer to the two women. In his hand he grabbed the large daggers handle and let the chains fall before grabbing the end and wrapping the long chain around his arm. He wasn't quite ready to bare down on the woman and finish it... not quite yet. He hadn't begun to play yet. Cinder could hear Vyxenne's voice, speaking coldly to the woman. A completely different personality than he had seen. Such a young intoxicating person. Stepping out from around the trees he came within several feet of the two women. The Vantha squirmed as her eyes widened, utter confusion turning back into fear. She screamed and tried to shove Vyxenne away. As calm and quiet as before. He walked around to their right side and crouched down placing his one hand over his knee as he lowered the blade and touched the girls cheek, instantly freezing her in place. Cocking his head to the side he looked at the frightened woman back glancing back to Vyxenne. "So happy you could finally join Vyxenne." Looking back to the girl he dragged the blade down softly, before putting enough pressure down, causing the sharp edge to slice slowly through her dark flesh. Pulling back he twisted the blade to the dull side and allowed several drops of blood to roll onto the cool metal. He brought it up to his mouth, tongue snaking out and catching the few drops before he closed his eyes, a satisfying smile growing... but not quite enough. "Not quite... enough. It's interesting, the taste of a being always changes when they are soaked in fear. She's almost there, but I think we should give her another chance. I'm one man who truly believes in playing with their food." Pushing himself up he held out a hand for Vyxenne. A true invitation for her to join him. In his right hand he held the dagger back. He wanted the girl to go, but she wouldn't get too far. Before she died he wanted to see her marinade in her own blood. |
