Cost of Living

Okay, my question involves paying rent and living expenses. Let's say I go to Garth's Rest in the Spires and rent a common room (5sp a day) for the season (45gm). Would that be deducted from my living expenses for the season, since I paid for it separately?
I want what I cannot have.. and it is agony.

Cost of living never includes rent. Cost of living includes supplies, food, replacing worn gear, occasional treats, and minor shopping.
