Taking a Chance (Mecury)

Summer 3 511

It was warm in Mt. Skyinarta, but not unpleasantly so almost the perfect day for a swim. Today was the day, today was the day that he was going to make his jump, and if he survived it, he would keep doing it, because that looked like one of the most fun things that he could do. Jumping into the baths, maybe after that he would take some new chances. Maybe one would be worthy, maybe one time one chance would finally impress Ovek. He stands up off his pile of furs and picked up his dice bag with a stitching to Ovek. He doesn’t know what it will take to have the fun that he wants but it had better be huge.

He walks over to the baths and looks around. Seeing what all there is to see and where would be a good place to jump from. And a good way up. Noticing one he starts to climb, slowly at first making sure that he can make it up, he's not the best climber but he's stubborn, and he's climbing over water so it's somewhat safer to make the climb. It's an easy climb so he eventually makes it up to the ledge that he saw. and dives into the baths. He realized the problem almost instantly. His aim was off on the dive, he was headed straight for a shallow portion that he hadn't seen from the high ledge, and had no way to fix his trajectory in time. his chances of survival just went from being extremely high, to about 50 percent and he didn't like those odds. He quickly shifted his position and aimed his feet down, hoping that he didn't land too poorly as he hit the water. and plunged straight down into the water, trying to angle himself so that he didn't hit the ground with the flat of his feet. saying his prayers to Ovek, Lhex and any other god that he thought could help him.

Taking a Chance (Mecury)

The Gods had no part in Tavaltia’s landing, if they did, it probably would have turned out much, much worse. Instead he was blessed by some guiding hand, for while he landed at the shallow end of the Salt Pool he was relatively unscathed. From the meager height that he had dared the water tension from the surface that he broke was still not enough to be quite so noticeable, more specifically, painful. It stung, yes. The bottom of Tavaltia’s feet were going to be red for at least another bell. But what Tavaltia did not know was that his… For he had yet to feel the effects. For now he was blissfully unaware. His heart still racing from the adrenaline, the fear fading from his veins, receding to be superimposed with glorious triumph.

A group of older yasi, lounging at the other end of the Salt pool giggled as Tavaltia’s head surfaced. They had seen him, his face, as he had ‘dived’ down. They remembered the stupid look that had crossed his countenance – they were sure not to forget it. They tittered even more when Tavaltia looked their way, not even bothering to hide their mirth.

Mod Notes :
I am going to assume you are diving in the Salt Pool. Just because the Miner’s Pool and the Glassworker’s pool is absolutely disgusting. That and I think the pools get smaller the cleaner they get, so the Salt Pool is honestly the most plausible choice.

The ellipses is an effect you will not know about until after the thread is complete. :D

Taking a Chance (Mecury)

Tavaltia’s feet hurt, but that was it. And he knows he is lucky for that being the only thing that happened. Feeling a bit like a coward for not jumping from a higher location now that he knows he could easily survive jumping into the deep end. He takes note of where he jumped from this time, and he looks across to the other side of the cliff face this way he can make it into the deep end next time he jumped. He made sure to look sternly at the yasi, then he starts cracking up as well, hollering “yeah you guys are right I really messed that one up huh?” He walks away while still laughing, never one to take everything too seriously. He started to survey the area, what else could he do, it was his day off and he had no intention of taking it for granted. Starting to get hungry Tavaltia walked to the kitchen to get some food, and then back. Taking his time, he managed to stop his feet from hurting around the time he got back, and after making a stop at his home to try and grab a pair of leather shoes so that next time he does that he doesn’t hurt his feet. He starts to climb up the other side of the Salt pool this time, so that he doesn’t have to worry about how he lands nearly as much, and fool that he is, starts to climb again. This time on the deep side, and pencil dives in. Everything seems to be going perfectly fine so deciding he needs to step it up a notch, not knowing how he looks at the older group of yasi, “hey any ideas how to make this a bit more exciting!?”

Taking a Chance (Mecury)

The yasi looked to one another, youthful sneers marring their still naïve countenance. “Why don’t you do a summersault old man?” One finally called out as he stared daringly into Tavaltia’s eyes. Before the yasi could say anything else out of his station, one of the bath workers called out to Tavaltia. “Hey! You! Sir! Take off your boots before you jump in the pool. If you don’t I’ll have to call security.” The man, clad only in the suit his mother gave him, had his hands on his hips as he waited for Tavaltia to climb down, or at least toss his boots down. He didn’t really care if the man jumped. He was still low enough that if he did hit rock it wouldn’t splatter too much.

Mod Note :
I'm so sorry that this took so long. Next time you should nudge me… T.T

And I really don't want to be a nag but you're still writing in future tense, but now you're mixing in some past and present which is making it all the more confusing for me.

Taking a Chance (Mecury)

OOCplease feel free to send me a PM about what is in the future tense, and what is not. I want to become a better writer and that would help me greatly.

Tavaltia laughed at what the Yasi said, and after the man said that he couldn’t jump in with his boots he tossed them down. He liked the idea of a somersault, though he was curious what he could do to one up, the little Yasi. He wouldn’t be taken for a coward by anyone, that much he was certain of. Tavaltia climbed a few more feet, then as he came to the height of the first falcon’s nest he jumped letting go the wall, and then falling backwards first bringing his feet over his head, then his head back on top, he does one more half of a flip before he goes into the water hands first, using them to break the tension as he lets the rest of this body glide into the water. Surfacing, he looks over at the Yasi and laughs out. “Now kid’s don’t you try this, it’ll get you hurt and in trouble.” Gesturing over to the bath worker he says “I just get in trouble.” Pulling himself onto the edge of the bath he realizes his byrda is at this point thoroughly drenched.

Taking a small leather cord out of his pocket, he attaches it to a ring on the leg of his byrda, and though it wasn’t designed for this he rings out his byrda. Looks back at the Yasi and jokingly says. “How was that?”

Before the yasi could get a word out, the bath worker started yelling. "How was that? How was that!" An angry red vein throbbed to a steady beat, right at his temple. His grating voice could be heard over the gentle sounds of lapping water. “You know what-” He smiled, teeth bared. “GUARD!” His voice reverberated against the stone walls. “Please escort this man out!” His order would probably have been more intimidating, or at least authoritative, if the ‘guard’ wasn’t just a more muscular chiet attendant by the name of Jed.

“What do you need me for, boss?” (Though not actually his supervisor) Jed asked, after jogging up to his friend’s side.

The first attendant pointed to the drenched Tavaltia wringing out his byrda. “This guy is contaminating the pool with his clothes and boots. Can you ‘escort’ him out.” Holding up his hand to his mouth, he muttered under his breath, “Feel free to drag him by the hair.”

Jed shrugged his shoulders. He had seen the flip and he thought it had been pretty awesome. And though he didn’t want to be mean or anything, but the guy had been warned. “Come on, let’s go now.” Said Jed with hands out stretched. He walked towards Tavaltia, in an attempt to gently herd the other man out. For a burly 6 foot one guy, Jed managed to look surprisingly friendly, even as he towered over most citizens.

Tavaltia had several options. Of them the easiest was to just walk out without a fight, but what fun is that. There were so many other ways to go out with a bang… and to truly deserve getting kicked out of the baths.

Taking a Chance (Mecury)

Postby Tavaltia on July 23rd, 2011, 6:50 am

Tavaltia had options, and a lot of them he could go away with this guy, too boring, too easy. He could dump this guy into the water, also to easy. He had a gut feeling he was going to get banned from the salt pools, because there was no way the old geezer was going to ever late him back in after the stunt he just pulled.

He knew what he had to do, he wasn’t going to let some puny little Chiet and a rather large moron take him from his finale.

This time he climbed, well past the first bird’s nest, He climbed about 30 feet before he realized that what he was hoping for wouldn't happen, he was hoping that he would reach a point where he could climb out, and then slide down the side. But no such luck, it soon hit him, something that he had forgotten about massive room, it had a ceiling. he could only get so high before he had to jump, and he had reached the point that he knew exactly what he had to do. So as he reached another few feet up he let go, and began to spin, and flip, hoping that as he went out, it was with a bang.

When he finally reached the water he tilts himself, swimming straight up, trying to avoid hitting the bottom of the water.
