This northernmost city is the home of Morwen, The Goddess of Winter, and her followers who dwell year round in a land of frozen wonder. [Lore]

Silvy was puzzled by some of the Arctic wolf's behaviors but did her best to adjust. When Arethiel went at such a slow pace, she figured that the white one had never met any other species than her own.
While smaller, grey wolves are faster and react more quickly to stimulus than their larger white cousins. The young Kelvic slowed down to keep herself exactly a stride behind the Alpha. She was relying entirely on instinct now for her interaction.
Silvy never had the benefit of growing up in a pack but she knew the basics that every wolf was born with: -Obey the leader or deny him/her on penalty of death. -Trust the leader with your life for he or she will protect you. -Always be respectful and submissive to larger or dominant wolves; especially when the same gender. -Safety in numbers. Even just two wolves is far safer than living as a lone wolf. Not always pleasant, but definitely safer.
The young wolf watched Arethiel bow and looked at he motion in confusion. She'd never seen a human bow before and had no idea what it meant.
When Arethiel spoke, her tone was one of command, and Silvy had no choice but to obey. She didn't want to change again so soon after becoming her free animal form, but to disobey a pack leader was risking certain death. She sighed reluctantly.
She'd never met an older Kelvic before. All the ones she knew were a bit meek like her because they were also young, impressionable and very eager to bond. Arethiel's independent personality was rigid in its adult form; definitely not receptive to bonding or sharing with anyone. The little silver wolf was frightened of her.
The young girl sighed reluctantly and changed to human form with a sprinkling of bright lights that left her on her hands and knees, naked and shivering on the cave floor. A wave of fatigue had her swaying as she tried to rise to her feet obediently. Changing so soon again rapidly depleted the hearty meal she'd just finished a few chimes ago. Silvy tried and failed to stifle a large yawn.
She blinked her silver eyes, doing her best to fight off her sleepiness. Silvy awkwardly struggled to put on the offered clothing. It was a couple sizes too large for her short frame and the sleeves nearly reached mid thigh on her.
The younger Kelvic stood with her head down, not making any eye contact and did her very best to stand still despite her exhaustion. Since no question was asked of the meek young Kelvic, Silvy remained silent and docile unless directed otherwise.

Summer 8, 511 AV Arethiel breathed a sigh of relief when the wolf changed into a young human girl. It was only now that the hunger and fatigue from changing set into Arethiel and so she sat down heavily, she'd forgotten how weakening the fatigue was and she tried to not fall asleep but she then started a fire, throwing a nice chunk of meat on the fire for herself and, if her guest wanted it, for her guest as well. Once she had done so she examined the girl, the girl was still standing, quietly and her head down...was she afraid of Arethiel? Arethiel didn't know but figured she'd address it.
"Young one, please sit down. There's no need for you to stand, and no need to be afraid of me. I'm not going to hurt you. I apologize if I'm not doing everything properly as a human, I haven't been one in over 2 years but Tell me, what do you call yourself in this form?"

Silvy sank immediately and gratefully to the ground, wrapping the large ends of the borrowed gown around her feet. Silver gleaming eyes watched the other Kelvic from beneath thick lashes. It was the safest way to look at someone without staring.
She tried not to appear stunned when Arethiel threw perfectly good raw meat onto a fire.
'Cooked meat on purpose?!' She thought with astonishment. 'This Kelvic is one surprise after another!'
The young girl watched the flickering light of the fire as if mesmerized by the movement. The Kelvic longed to be in her wolf form again, far from itchy noisy clothes, cooked meat and just cuddle down safely for a good sleep. She'd never changed twice in a day before and the girl was more than a little disconcerted. Avoiding eye contact, she kept her hands neatly in her lap and answered in a soft, tired voice,
"I am named Silvy."

Summer 8, 511 AV oocSorry this was so short but it's all I could come up with *hugs*
Arethiel watched the girl, she still appeared to be afraid but maybe that was how humans acted now she thought. She took the meat from the fire, it was cooked but it was far from what humans usually cooked meat to, which if you asked Arethiel she would say they cooked it into ash. She cut a slice and began to eat it.
"Would you like some of this Silvy?" Arethiel said gently, offering it to the girl.
The girl looked so very innocent compared to the normal human, and it kind of touched Arethiel. Arethiel finished eating and tried to stifle a massive yawn but failed miserably. "Well Silvy, I think it would do us both some good if we got some rest. We can talk more in the morning, assuming you want to talk to me at all."
After Arethiel spoke she offered Silvy a place to sleep and then Arethiel curled up and closed her eyes then drifting off to sleep.

The girl nodded eagerly. All wolves are opportunistic and Silvy would never turn down food unless she were sick or terrified beyond reason. She gratefully took the meat and tore into it savagely with shearing bites to make short work of the thick slab. When she finished, the young Kelvic licked the blood from her hands and fingers and wiped her face. The girl was always as neat as possible.
Thanking an Alpha wolf for feeding and sheltering her would make as much sense as a fish thanking the water for supporting it. She didn't truly grasp the concept of please or thank you.
Feeling compelled to say something, she answered,
"Yes, Arethiel."
A non wolf could never understand the true and loving nature of a wolf pack and it's importance of rank within it. Arethiel, as Alpha female, had just offered to feed, shelter, protect and care for Silvy. In return, Silvy's loyalty, devotion and trust were given utterly into Arethiel's care.
She sighed in relief and moved to curl up next to the older Kelvic. Silvy had always longed for a pack but never had that security--and now she did! She could finally relax! It was the Alpha's job to provide food, shelter and security from danger--similar to a parent caring for their children. Though she was exhausted, she savored it all for a brief moment. For the first time since her mother died when she only six months old, she finally had someone to be near her, protect her, befriend her!! When exhaustion overtook the petite young girl, she was curled up like a child with complete trust, snug and cozy against Arethiel's side.

Summer 9, 511 AV, Morning Arethiel awoke the next morning to find Silvy curled up next to her. It touched her cold steel heart, making it ever so softer and warmer. She nearly shed a tear but managed to stifle it. Arethiel then stood up and "Argh!". Arethiel was so very stiff, she'd forgotten how stiff humans can get when sleeping, especially without something like a bed. She cracked her knuckles and popped her back and then proceeded to revive the fire, sitting down next to it.
Once Silvy awoke and sat next to Arethiel, Arethiel began speaking.
"So Silvy, tell me a little about yourself, or feel free to ask me some questions. Your choice."

"Argh!"
Silvy blinked awake to full awareness at the sudden sound. When she remembered it was Arethiel, she relaxed. Then the young Kelvic found herself in human form with notable disappointment. She couldn't stretch properly from nose to tail as a person, so she tightened and loosened her body from a prone position before rising.
'Being human is so inconvenient!' Silvy thought with annoyance. Upon seeing her new Alpha, the girl turned happier.
Silvy felt very shy about questioning the woman, but she knew she must obey.
"I am a moon over a year old. I killed my very first deer 5 moons ago." She said, hoping to impress Arethiel.
"How old are you? Have you always lived here?"

Summer 9, 511 AV, Morning Arethiel was a little impressed by Silvy's killing, but not too much, though little impressed her fully anymore, she was fairly annoyed and fairly vindictive now most of the time. Arethiel then responded to the questions.
"I am 3 years and 6 moons old. I haven't always lived in this den but I have always lived in the area. I grew up in a pack, I left it. I haven't bonded with anyone, probably never will. So what of you Silvy?"
"Have you always lived here? Do you have an understanding of Humans at all? I really don't know anything about them other then it's inconvenient to be in this form. What can you tell me of them?"

'This Kelvic seems so unemotional. Does she feel anything?' Silvy wondered. Maybe it's because she's older and has seen so much. Or because she lived in a pack.'
The young girl knew Arethiel was correct at her slim chance of ever bonding so late in wolf life with her cold detached demeanor. What she didn't understand was why any wolf would ever leave a pack by choice! It just didn't make any sense! Silvy could not comprehend any sane reason for an alpha wolf to suddenly leave her family-her pack-ever. That sort of thing just wasn't done in wolf society.
Wolf packs might drive away a subordinate or strangely colored wolf from their family pack, but wolves didn't just up and leave the safety of numbers! It just makes no rational sense for a wolf to purposely leave the security of their pack unless they were kicked out or forced out. Maybe Arethiel is more human Kelvic in behavior than she knows.
"I never got to live in a pack until now. Why in the world would you leave your pack family on purpose? It is not something a wolf does. I don't understand why you left behind your family, safety and happiness."
Questioned the startled Silvy. She answered the questions she was asked, the best way she could.
"I grew up about 5 clicks away to the south with my foster mother until she died about 7 moons ago. Then I came here and actually went into the city. I made friends with a giant snow leopard Kelvic, Renaria, and she showed me around. I don't really know much more about humans than you do. The only new things I learned is that if you are submissive, they will be nice to you. If you're not, they'll kill you. The second thing is that they cook their meat instead of just eating it and they throw away the bones--the best part!!"
Something edged at Silvy's consciousness, because Arethiel's story and very human behavior just somehow didn't ring true to her story.
"You seem a lot more human than I do Arethiel."

Summer 9, 511 AV, Morning Arethiel watched Silvy as she talked, noticing the startled look when she asked about why Arethiel left her pack. Arethiel listened intently to Silvy all the way to the last sentence.
"You seem a lot more human than I do Arethiel."
At the comment, Arethiel's eyes flashed anger. Arethiel knew it was just an innocent statement from Silvy, but she could only restrain her actions, not what flashed through her eyes and her mind. Arethiel spoke once more, responding to the question, in a cold tone.
"Maybe I am more human Silvy. I left my pack, because it no longer offered me safety. Between the Human hunters that killed so many, to the point which made me leave. Myself and 3, one of them my rival, of my pack stumbled upon a large bear, it was a very angry bear to say the least. The other 3 were gone before I could even react, I was left to die by my rival. I took a swipe to my side. I would have been dead had it not been for a human hunter, he bandaged me and after he knew I would be fine, he left. I never knew who he was or why he did what he did. Perhaps that is why I seem to be more human to you, but I don't think the same way."
