This northernmost city is the home of Morwen, The Goddess of Winter, and her followers who dwell year round in a land of frozen wonder. [Lore]

Silvy saw the stare of anger and averted her gaze--until she heard that this alpha abandoned her pack so unnaturally. Just simply stopped protecting them--something an Alpha would never do. The Alpha's job was to give security, and Arethiel had forfeited that honor. Alphas had that position because they would die defending their pack rather than just leave. Why didn't she flee with her pack to protect them?
A shiver of fear coursed through Silvy, and she was unsure of what to say or think. The young wolf could not place her trust or loyalty in a rogue wolf that might just leave her defenseless. It was the very reason wolves formed packs and honored their positions--they completely trusted in their companions to give and receive total loyalty to insure their survival. Arethiel was not someone to trust.
A rogue wolf was a dangerous wolf and from her tone of voice, the young kelvic thought she might be witnessing madness. The older woman spoke in a strange cold tone that Silvy had never heard from a kelvic.
'Does a Kelvic go insane if they don't bond?' the girl wondered in panic, not taking her eyes off of the rogue kelvic for even a chime. Terror coursed through the scared girl and she knew she might change form with so much adrenaline coursing through her, but she couldn't help herself.
Arethiel was a lone rogue wolf, an older wolf of the same gender. The older kelvic acted neither human nor wolf and Silvy feared for her life. She kept her self very very still, terrified of invoking the other creature's wrath. Silvy eyed the cave's exit warily, ready to run should the situation call for it.

Summer 8, 511 AV Arethiel saw Silvy look at her in shock, and possibly fear, when she said she had left her pack the way she did. Arethiel maybe had said too much, at least too much for the girl to understand without a whole lot more information and Arethiel was less then enthusiastic about telling her more. Did it matter though? Arethiel figured it didn't because she knew she'd never be fully wolf nor fully human and in her eyes that meant she'd never fit in...anywhere. Arethiel spoke once again when she saw Silvy eye the exit.
"That's not the main reason, or at least not the full story, of why I left though. I was several paces ahead of the other 3 wolves, far ahead, when I encountered said Bear. They came up and then ran, not even an attempt at help. I was unable to run with them because I was too close to the bear, and they knew it. So after taking the blow and being bandaged by the human my mind came to a decision. I think the decision was most likely affected by my human side but that decision was, that the pack no longer offered me and I could no longer offer them the security that a pack is to bring. Who am I kidding anyways? I'll never fit in anywhere, I'm neither full wolf, as nice as that would be, or full human and my mind reflects that as well."
Arethiel finished speaking and then taking the time to run her long fingers through her long midnight black hair. She then laid her head in one of her hands still looking at Silvy with her tired dark grey eyes.

Silvy's human brain worked much faster at abstract logic than her wolf side ever could. For a chime or two, she thought hard about Arethiel's explanation. So it was the other way around? Her pack abandoned her? No wonder she seemed so uncertain! Thankfully human fore thinking could stop a scary situation better than the spontaneous reactions of a young wolf.
"I misunderstood you! Your pack abandoned you instead of staying by you? One wolf can't always bring down a predator, but a pack usually can. That's why wolves are together--for safety."
The kelvic's silver eyes rounded and widened as she asked,
"A human helped you? Were you scared? A pack of hunting Vantha once left me some delicious deer parts to eat! I like Vantha. Arethiel, neither of us nor any Kelvic will truly 'fit in' as full animal or full human. That's why we look to find each other or a bondmate."
Her posture relaxed and she exhaled in relief. She was so glad to realize she could trust the other wolf Kelvic. She was lonely for other wolves and to finally be part of a pack was a lifelong dream!

Summer 8, 511 AV Arethiel dwelled for a few moments in the memory before coming back to reality to answer Silvy's question. Arethiel thought for a few moments with her human brain of exactly what to say.
"Was I scared? No, I was grateful and I wish I could've thanked her...I believe she, the human, was a Vantha so I like them as well. And yes, it's true that as a Kelvic I'll never truly fit in so to speak....but I still wish for it. Perhaps one day."
Arethiel finished and looked at Silvy, her deep gray eyes focused upon the young Kelvic. She was happy to finally have met someone else like her. Someone to talk to and interact with. oocSorry it wasn't longer, wasn't much to work with *huggles*
