[Dyres District] Words with the Master

19 Summer, 511 AV,
Dyres District, Syliras

It was roughly around midday, not that Edvard could tell from the depths of the fortress, though he had only been up for three hours. These days, inside the walls, it got difficult to tell the time, locked deep in stone, on occasion not even seeing the sky for a whole day. This break that he'd been enjoying from working to feed five likely wasn't the best for him. Such could, if one looked into it enough, be a reason for his current location, but then so could his basic fascination with the Knights. Whatever the case, he found himself on his way to the Third Tier of the Dyres District, easily what could be considered the heart of the Syliran Order, seeking to gain an audience with Grandmaster Dyres, and to gain entry into the Syliran Knights.

Initially he figured the man he'd come across at the Stallion had lied to him, as the idea seemed a bit off to him. Just request an audience, and be granted one, like that? Sounded a bit odd, but of course, he didn't let his thoughts spoil the meeting between the two. Though, he didn't really consider that he had told him the truth... he was rather surprised when, as he asked around thereafter, others told him the same. Such meant, at least in Edvard's mind, that this was either a very wide-spread joke, or it had to be true. Needless to say that the former sounded quite preposterous, and it didn't take him long to dismiss the thought. Though now he had something of a new problem... just who to see to ask to see the Grandmaster.

The tomb-like halls were, as much as anywhere in Syliras, confusing to the young man, though they held warmth more than nature's own caverns. After his introduction to the wilds by his father he never quite looked the same at 'civilization'. Given, civilized locales were welcome with him - things here rarely tried to kill him, and rarer still attempted, or were able, to eat him - but they just weren't the same. Things just seem much more... simple there. Defined, he thought, would make a better adjective, but it's not like anyone could hear what he was thinking.

Entering the Third Tier in good time, he soon passed several bustling entrances to the Grand Bazaar, the pedestrians coming, going, and some just standing, conversing or enjoying a moment at rest. Edvard was eager to be on somewhere else where he wouldn't be so crowded, and so he pushed on, having to brush several shoulders before getting away from the crowded and rather loud 'antechamber' of the bazaar. Leaving such behind him, he approached the more militant side of the Dyres district, and to some the more important. Given, his request might seem odd, and that's what imbued his actions with a hint of hesitation. Though before long he realized that were he not to act, this not only would be for naught, but he'd eventually wind up here again. Thus he sought out a sentry, a man who, judging by his clothing, didn't look a knight and probably wasn't the best choice. But it was something of a start, and with little warning set upon the man with his request.

"I would, uh, like to speak with the Grandmaster." Ending quickly, Edvard straightened himself, righting his posture as he did so. In the moments after he finished, he gave his words some thought, and added on, rather awkwardly, "About joining. The Knights, you see."
"If something is worth doing, then it is worth taking time to do it."
