Season of Summer, Day 45 511 A.V.
Bright had finally caught up with his family in the Market, and conversed a bit, though it wasn't much and a little more than awkward when his father came into the picture. By then, Bright had already said hello to everyone, and was on his way, not wanting his father to get started on any heir to the family madness.
So now he found himself sitting off to the side of one of the main path's in Endrykas, under a large sheet covering, sitting on a log that was there for comfortable resting purposes. He was looking through his bag of herbs, which he had collected while in the Sea of Grass, and was analyzing one unfamiliar her in general. It was odd, black with tints of purple around the stem, and green on the tips of the leaves and berries.
He rolled it around in his hand, noting the dryness of the outer layer of the plant. It had been that way when he had picked it, not just because of the heat of the summer air and sun. It didn't seem poisonous, but just to be safe, he tore it into parts: the leaf, the stem, and the berry. Cautiously, he held the berry against to his lips, waiting for about three minutes. He felt no burn.
Pulling the berry away, he bit his lip in thought. He decided to go a bit further. He placed the berry on his tongue holding it there. If it gave him any kind of bad reaction, at least he would not be too terribly poisoned. But as time went by nothing out of the ordinary happened.
Bracing himself, he decided it was time to truly test out if this plant was harmful. He chewed it slowly, instantly noticing the amazing sweet and sour taste that made his mouth water. He swallowed it, eyes darting to his bag. He had the greatest urge to eat more. He thought against it for a moment, but decided what harm could a few more do?
Reaching into his bag, Bright plucked off a few more berries, and steadily began to eat them. No other berry he had ever eaten before had tasted quite this...intoxicatingly amazing. Before he knew it, he had eaten more than half of what he had collected. His stomach had started to get full, which he took as his cue to stop eating. So, reluctantly he closed his bag, and sat there, watching the people float by.
Bright stared blankly for a moment at the passerbys....
His eyes shot open, nearly falling backward off of the log. He felt his heart start to race as he watched the impossible spectacle before him. It was true...their feet were not touching the ground. He stood unbelieving, and slowly apprached the center of the road, taking in and letting out awkward breathes, after finding his lungs had begun to feel smaller.
He looked at everything and everyone with wide intrigued eyes, and suddenly felt the oddest urge to laugh. He couldn't even stop the goofy smile that came to rest upon his face. At that moment, a horse trotted by. The odd thing about this though was the rider that rode the horse. His neck seemed to be shortening and growing at a slowly swaying pace that made Bright a little dizzy.
He swallowed, squinting his eyes. He needed to sit down. Looking back at the log, it seemed to get farther and farther away. "Too...far." He spoke quietly to himself. So there was only one thing to do. He took a seat right there in the middle of the road, watching everyone continue to go by. He felt so strangely calm, in spite of the unnatural things going on around him. He felt so...peaceful. Laying back he smiled, ignoring the eyes of the people passing, that seemed to grow and shrink.
