Timestamp: 58th of Summer, 511 A.V.

The secluded hotel made for a quiet environment as Solia relaxed on the cool sheets. A chill swept over her body as the cold seeped into summer skin that seemed to always be uncomfortably warm. The inn that she was staying in was located closely to the Sea Side Market. The bustle of business was louder than yesterday though Solia wondered if the items being sold were of quality. She had been planning to work on a new golem as she possessed some funds to do so, but she wasn’t sure if the market would be a good place to go shopping for the necessary items.

Sighing softly Solia lifted herself from the bed and put on the dress her mother had made her. She had some hope that it would still fit in a year, so long that she maintained her figure, but she knew it wouldn’t last beyond that. She was growing too quickly for her own liking. Solia took the small comb off the end of the bed and ran it through her hair, turning the small mats into smooth elegance as she pulled it up. Quickly tying it with a small leather strap she placed her black boots on her dainty feet and grabbed a pouch full of coins.

She placed the gold in her left boot and headed out. The hallway of the inn was poorly decorated. Faded red paint and dimmed light fixtures lined the wall, while worn borders gave a rugged look into the past. Moans of hormonal men and women echoed from the left signaling someone was earning their keep, most likely a woman from Ruby’s. Turning her nose up in disgust Solia made her way out of the dingy inn and onto the dingy streets.

It was a quick walk to the market from there. She received many odd looks from pedestrians as she maneuvered through the crowd. A few older women snarled at her as she passed, trading insults at her dimwittedness and fortune. Very few people were known to own such a nice dress in Sunberth and even fewer wore it in the general public. Perhaps Solia was stupid, to wear a nice dress in the city without law, she was just too naive to see it. She had lost most of her interest in people, too wrapped up with golems and other magical items to notice what others were talking about.

A little boy ran into her, his face pressing into her stomach as he tried to regain balance. He looked to be about ten or so, bearing a grin that showed a chipped tooth and hair much blonder than her own. He looked closely at her eyes, without bothering to apologize for the run in.

“Hey Lady, you’re a Kelvic aren’t you?”
Solia was very surprised such a young boy could recognize her animalistic side so quickly. Before she could speak he added,

“I know so cuz me mum’s one too.”
Not knowing how she should respond to this Solia could only utter a soft, “oh.”

The boy fallowed her around afterwards, every so often Solia would hear, “Hey Lady,” followed by a question about her. She only granted him vague answers. As they reached the end of a bell Solia wondered if there really was anything at the market she could use.

{The Sea Side Market} Kidnaping is no fun! {Bob & Darik}

Postby Darik on July 29th, 2011, 6:55 pm

The Seaside Market, a place that held to Sunberthian value. Stalls covered almost every inch of free space, making it difficult to traverse. However, the compactness was to Darik’s advantage. Thief’s, like him thrived in spaces like the seaside market, because objects of value can disappear within a few seconds by just a single bump. The merchants were aware of this so they hired guards to protect their stalls. It almost seemed like Suberth was a game, a very twisted game, but still a game.

Not to stay on revolutionary thoughts for long, Darik swivelled his head looking for anything of value. He saw a merchant with a wide array of jewellery but he doubted any of it was real. Everything found in Sunberth is not what it seems. Just like the jewellery. It was probably a piece of hard cardboard shaped like a jewel and then painted. Some people can’t tell the difference. While browsing a weapon stall, a girl of uncountable beauty walked by him. She wore a dress of such high quality, it marked her as rich and powerful. She was also the kind of person Darik would steal from. However, he noticed she had no guards and she let a little kid follow. Odd, but that didn’t stop Darik from wanting to “talk” with her.

He swerved in and out of the stalls trying to get ahead of her. He planned to mug her with no falsities attached. He ended up ahead of her, his knowledge of the layout had caused him to progress at a faster rate than her. The woman was still walking, unaware of the danger that was about to come down upon her. At the last second, he reconsidered his approach. There was something about the situation that didn’t seem right. Either she was insanely naïve or she had hidden guards all around her. The first wasn’t impossible but very unlikely. Because Darik was extremely unlucky he wouldn’t let himself believe the first one could be true. He would already be dead in Suberth if he wasn’t a tad cautious.

He had a different approach though. Pretend to be a good person in a bad city. Darik hadn’t seen many people who aren’t scum, but he got the gist of how they acted. He pretended to absently-minded walk in front of her causing a collision. She fell down while Darik stood uneasily on his feet. He made his face morph into astonishment when he pretended he laid his eyes on the lady. Sorry Milady, I should be more careful were I walk.” He held out his hand towards her.

Once she was standing again, he proceeded to question her in a way befit of a gentleman. ”Mind If I ask you why you are here? People like you shouldn’t be here without a cavern of guards. Sunberth is a dangerous city full of bold thieves. If you are going to walk the streets, please wear different clothes. I can’t bear to see a lady such as yourself mugged in this dank and dirty city.” Darik wanted to throw up in his mouth, all these words sounded horrible. But he needed to act noble and polite. Oh, the things he will do for money.

He noticed the kid staring googly eyed at him from behind the women. He knew what he had to do to make his appearance go to a whole new level. “Here ya go kid He said as he threw a gold miza. The kid hungrily grabbed it and looked at him with pleading eyes. ”Shoo, go on rascal.”A gold miza would support the imp for a long time.

{The Sea Side Market} Kidnaping is no fun! {Bob & Darik}

Postby Solia on July 29th, 2011, 11:50 pm

Solia was honing in on a stand that sold some odd clay products when she found herself on the ground. Confusion swept over her face for a moment, she hadn’t seen anyone run into her, but then again it was just too crowded to tell. A hand appeared before her and as she traced it to a face the owner spoke. He was a plain man, brown hair and eyes, but considerably taller than Solia. It was irksome that she had to look up to him to see him properly but she took the hand and pulled herself to her feet.

He offered his apologies to which she replied with, “Yes you should.”

A moment later he began questioning her. Solia made sure to listen carefully, the bustle of the market was quite distracting. He seemed genuinely concerned for her well being, which caused Solia to become uncomfortable with the situation. Fidgeting slightly she placed a hand on the younger boy’s shoulder. He looked up at her curiously but didn’t speak. At least the boy is here, Solia thought, which was a small comfort.

She was highly disappointed when the child left, right after receiving a gold miza from the man. Solia turned quickly as if to stop him from leaving but he had already disappeared in the jostle. She faced the man once more, this time more warily. Men always made her uncomfortable and this was no exception. She didn’t know how to answer his questions. Was Animation socially acceptable? She didn’t think so. Besides why should she tell him anything?

“Just a bit of shopping.” Unconsciously she reached for part of her dress, lifting it slightly. Were bodyguards really necessary? Could wearing a nice dress be that much of a danger? She wasn’t sure; she hadn’t been living on her own for very long, less than a season. She didn’t know anything about how people behaved or thought outside of the mansion she once lived in. Maybe it hadn’t been such a good idea to leave the safety of the estate.

“Thank you for your concern but I believe it’s unnecessary. I can manage on my own.” She stated quickly, not realizing that she had just made the mistake or relating that she was alone.

oocIt's not fun when your the one they're snatching! :paranoid: Diddo! I like your writing style!

{The Sea Side Market} Kidnaping is no fun! {Bob & Darik}

Postby Darik on July 30th, 2011, 11:46 pm

Darik’s first observation of the girl was right. She was definitely a noble. She spoke in a stuck up attitude that made Darik want to barf. He didn’t overcome to the sensation because it wouldn’t be very righteous of him. He didn’t dare break the act because she would start running away. He was perfectly sure she could catch up to her, she was wearing a dress afterall, but it would just slow down the mugging process.

When he gave the kid a miza, the kid departed back to wherever he was going. Once the kid was gone the woman seemed uneasy. Either she was uncomfortable in the presence of men or the kid had some emotional value to her. Maybe the kid was a family member of hers? He doubted that idea, no peasant like the kid could be related to a rich lady like her. Most likely she had been abused by some other noble, who happened to be a man. She was so uneasy she let a word slip. “On my own” Wow, either she was testing if he was a thief or she really was alone. Darik didn’t know which one to decide. He could try to mug her now but there was still a chance she had guards. He made a plan, if she listened to his persuasion then she really was a noble lady. No noble would deny help. If she didn’t she had no guards and was great for mugging.

“Are you sure my lady?” He tried to install some doubt into her thoughts. If she stopped being stubborn maybe he could weasel his way into her company. “The dangers of Sunberth are many and are very dangerous. No one person can face it alone. It’s always good to have a company of some sort. As an Ex squire of Sylrias,” Darik had lived in Sylrias for some of his childhood years and remembered the knights. He knew they were very upstanding people and were very fair. Maybe it would add validity to his personality if he claimed to have been one. ”who was charged and outlawed under false acquisitions,” Vaguity is your friend! ”it’s my duty to protect all maidens far and wide no matter the situation they are in.”

He knew she had questions but he could solve that with another long winded paragraph. The more you speak, the liker they are to believe you! I know you have doubts, everyone that sees me does. My appearance, my clothes, my stench, they all seem to suggest I am lying. However, know this, appearances can be deceiving. However if you really think you can handle yourself, feel free to. I will not give my protection to those that don’t want it. He waited for her answer trying his face clear of excitement. Either path she chose would cause him to set his plan in action.

oocThanks. :D Though this isn’t my writing style, mine involves humor almost every other sentence. :P Sadly that takes forever to write, and I don’t like spending time writing for a long time on a site meant to be a cooldown. So, if you see spelling errors or grammar mistake that is me in a half lucid state drinking Pepsi.

{The Sea Side Market} Kidnaping is no fun! {Bob & Darik}

Postby Solia on August 12th, 2011, 2:34 am

Solia noticed that the way the man talked to her was similar to the way her father would talk to the lady of the house. She wondered if it had anything to do with the dress she was wearing, or how she looked. Where Kelvic’s treated with more respect? She didn’t think so; she had been a playmate and regarded as a lower member of the house by the owners. And what was a Squire? Solia had never heard of such a thing. It sounded like a title, but for a flashing chime she thought it was a race.

Sylrias sounded like a place or an organization. Solia was certain that this man sounded sincere and dignified but there was still doubt. She didn’t know what anything the man said was. He was charged for something, and while he said it was for false reasons, it was too vague for her liking but it was best to play along.

“Erm, okay. Do you know where I might find some metal pieces or wood toys?”

How odd she must have sounded! Solia began to rethink her actions quickly.
“Or, umm, you could just walk me to the inn.” She rambled out.

OOCLol, hey I'm sorry I haven't posted but I got stung by a jellyfish so my hand hurts, check my blog if your curious. :)

Well she was a noble lady. She had accepted his help, meaning she had guards. Not good, this was harder. Time to be very forward and get her quite disorientated. Once she was disorientated he could swoop in and steal her away before no one would know. “Of course I will my lady!” Darik was acting very forward. Why? To cut out all the complications that come with not being so. So many struggles and conflicts could easily be solved by a man with ambition. Darik swung his arm aiming to catch the girls arm. It worked and he hooked them together. He then hooked them together, their bodies touching side by side. Now they were inter changeable and she couldn’t escape. He hadn’t been shot by arrows so she may not have guards. Yay! Now to do what the girl wanted. Wait why didn’t he just start leading her to the slave market? Because she may have had guards, remember! Meaning he needed to lose them threw the crowds. But didn’t I just say that she didn’t have guards? Well the real reason was it was nice to be useful, for once. Even Darik’s wants to feel loved.

With the girls arm in hand he led her through the bay. Stall after stall he browsed. Most had junk. He wouldn’t let his lady waste her money on some fake merchandise. Darik knew the signs well, because he had even fprged his own before. They were actually quite easy to spot. After he passed a few shaddy stalls, he finally found a reliable one. A merchant was sitting on a stool while people could browse his booth. All kind of knick knacks and trinkets were scattered about on the front. The man had a crazy look in his face and he seemed very serious about his work. A gadgeteer perhaps.

Pulling her along, he went to the stall. He then unhooked himself from the girl. She couldn’t browse the store with them latched together like lovers! Then he steeped a few steps back to give her privacy. He would wait for however long she took. He was going to end up profiting from her anyway, so time was no problem. He needed to know one piece of valuable information though. There was no other way to put it up, so he kept up his very forward act. “So what inn do you go to?” He needed to know so he could he pretend to head then. Then he could slowly divert to the direction of the slave market. The hardest part would be the end, were she realized they were off tract. Not a big deal though, she was much shorter and weaker than him. She should be anyways, she was a woman afterall.

oocI bet you know to mod the interaction and stuff like that. :P

{The Sea Side Market} Kidnaping is no fun! {Bob & Darik}

Postby Solia on August 16th, 2011, 5:45 pm

He seemed to be a fairly outgoing man, and in a swift moment she found her arm entangled with his own. Briefly Solia was reminded of the countless times Penwen had done the same action and skipped down the hallways. Giving a small smile she allowed herself to relax and felt a summer blush rise to her cheeks. He walked about the docks with her on his arm in search of the items she had asked for. A soft breeze played with her golden hair and cooled her feverish neck as they walked.

The sun seemed merciless that day and relentlessly beat down on the girl’s back as they maneuvered through the stalls. After a short while it appeared that he had found one and pulled her through the crowd to a promising set up. A thin man sat in a stool, his hair was graying in age and sticking out in odd places. This was unmistakably the owner of the store. He gave a brisk nod as the two came into view acknowledging that they were possible customers he stood.

“Can I help you with something?” He asked in a low graveled voice.

Solia shook her head in reply, “Just browsing.”

Her escort had removed himself from her side and given her the room to look for what she wanted. Sending a small smile of appreciation his way Solia set about her quest for items. She had an idea for a golem to mimic the actions of a cat, while it would have limited movement it would still be an interesting creation. The process it would take to teach it all the functions of the feline would take up a good amount of time, but for now she was looking for body parts. The first item would need to be the base; wheels would serve as motor ability and a simple board or block as the body.

The man asked where her inn was. It was viewable from where they were standing and she touched his shoulder gently with one hand while pointing to the dingy building. Now that she thought about it, the letters on the front of the inn were so faded one could only make out the letters that spelled “inn.”

Glancing back at the trinkets she found what she was looking for. A small wooden plank was attached to four wheels, and while one looked splintered she figured it would hold for a while. The other part she would need would be a tail and something to represent a head. A beaded string would serve as a decorative tail; she could get that another time, and nothing seemed to be right for the head. Kneeling she reached into her boot, shielding prying eyes from the money while she took it from her pouch. Solia handed the man his money and exchanged nods.

She was now ready to head back to the inn; the other items could wait for another day. As the two began to walk once more Solia began to ponder how Kelvics were viewed in society. She had been a playmate, and while Penwen’s mother had been decent to her, the woman was often very degrading towards her mother. Questions burned dully in the back of her mind, so once they were free from the bustle of the market she risked one.

“What do you think of Kelvics?”

{The Sea Side Market} Kidnaping is no fun! {Bob & Darik}

Postby Darik on August 24th, 2011, 10:27 pm

Sorryfor the late post.
The girl certainly didn’t mind Darik’s company, she actually seemed completely at ease with Darik watching over her shoulder. Or she was completely caught up in her trade. Trade seems like the best word, Darik had no idea what she was doing. Everything on the table looked like junk to him. Even the phrase, one man’s junk is another man’s treasure, doesn’t hold true. I mean seriously, a board with wheels and a string of beads can’t be used for anything practical. The thing that can be used widely however is the commodity the girl gave to the greedy shopkeeper. She stored it in her boot, ha, what naivety. Her movements were so obvious, even the most basic thief, like Darik, could see her fingers twitching as she fiddled with her bag full of gold.

He was blown from his dreams of fantasy when she nudged him. She also answered his question, pointing to a building in the distance. It was bigger than most of the buildings in Sunberth, but it had never had a repair job before. It seemed unlikely that a lady with guards would chose to reside in that kind of filth. Meaning, she was just a lady with no bodyguards and lots of money. It was Darik’s lucky day.

If he took a right at the next alley then a left he would end up at the slave market. Or was it two lefts than a right? Or maybe just two lefts. Darik thought of directions as his subconscious kicked in. When she was ready to leave, she stepped close to Darik. Because he wasn’t truly paying attention, he hooked a hand around her hips and started pulling her to the inn. With his free hand he even started to twirl it in her hair. Very odd I know, but Darik truly wasn’t Darik as that time. He was woken when she asked a question needing his opinion.

He slowly looked to the left and his heart went into his throat. There bodies were so close together. He hastily withdrew his arm and came to an abrupt stop. When he stopped his finger slid through her glossy blonde hair. Luckily she kept it combed, otherwise it could have been stuck in a tangle. While he had been thinking about directions he had let his persona slip. Time to fix that! “Err..” He said trying to think of a way to defend his actions. Finding no reasonable answers, he just skipped to her question. Pretend like he had done nothing wrong and she would likely think the same thing. “Kelvics you say? Well I haven’t seen many, in Syrilias they aren’t exactly prominent.” He had only seen a few kelvics and then only for a fleeting moment.

“My training taught me lessons about them though.” In truth his devious thinking had really shaped his knowledge of how to use creature companions. “You can use a wolf Kelvic for protection, a bird one for spying, and a horse one for riding. On the subject of how they are viewed on the society I have no idea. I can answer your question though. I think Kelvic’s positives outweigh their negatives so they are very useful to society. Why, are you a Kevlic?” His eyes twinkled with mischief as he made the joke. It was obvious she wasn’t one, Kelvics never not have masters.

{The Sea Side Market} Kidnaping is no fun! {Bob & Darik}

Postby Solia on October 3rd, 2011, 2:43 am

Solia was beside herself with the feeling of airiness. Never had her hair been touched by the opposite sex and never had she been so close to a man. A deep blush grazed her cheeks as he answered her question. It seemed Kelvics were good for serving and that was all. She turned her attention to the sky for a moment letting the fleeting sun warm her face. His question caught her interest and with the naivety of a young child she answered truthfully.

“Yes; a cat one.” She said and paused. “What are we good for?”

Solia’s eyes rested on the man again. His answer, in her opinion could help her decide what she should do, who she should work for or in the very least give her an option for her future life. Patiently she waited for his reply.

[Summer 58,Av 511]{The Sea Side Market} Kidnaping is no fun!

Postby Darik on October 8th, 2011, 8:52 pm

This plot twist was very surprising, at least for Darik. I knew it the whole time, but this isn’t about me, is it? When Solia revealed the news, Darik’s mind went into overdrive. She was a kelvic and she didn’t not have anyone guarding her. Meaning one thing, she was not someone’s slave. He would change that soon enough. Though it puzzled him why such a beautiful young women didn’t have a protector of some kind.

”A cat one you said? That’s the best kind of kelvic.” His enthusiasm wasn’t faked, the smell of money had heightened his joy. “All the other kelvics have so many blaring faults. Wolf kelvics are much too vicious, they can’t sneak, and they cost so much to upkeep.” Darik had a dog growing up so he figured dogs were just like wolves.”Bird kelvics can’t fight, they are annoying, and they…” Darik didn’t know, he never had a bird growing up! “can’t be trained. They never learn any new tricks. And don’t get me started on horse kelvics. They are as dumb as shyke. Now cat kelvics on the other hand can fight, sneak, have low upkeep, and can do a multitude of other things! They are the perfect kelvics. But I don’t believe you are one though.” He was lying, but he was trying to make her do what he wanted.

“Cat kelvics are much too rare and valued to be found alone. However, I won’t call you a liar just yet. You may be deranged from sort of traumatic life altering event or just mentally ill.” He was insulting her so she would be more inclined to accept his proposal.”This can be proved very easily, all you need to do is show me your other form, that is, if you have another form.” He waited a second letting the challenge sink in. ”Not here of course, it’s much too open. So continue following me” Darik gripped her hand, tightly and lead her to a alley. This one went a little down and then a brick wall rounded it out.

“Well, here we go. I am going to turn around after you change got it? Make sure to stay in the form for a few chimes, I need time to assess that you really are a cat and not an imposter. So I am um…. going to turn around now. Have a um…fun time?” He turned around, his cheeks a bright red. He had just met this woman but he didn’t want to disturb her privacy. But then again kelvics don’t find nudity odd, but there was a chance she wasn’t a kelvic and would take this very offensive.
