Question bout the knights

Do the knight work with mages? Could say a mage work for the knights helping them but not be a knight? if not who protects the cities?

The knights can have personal magic and all other forms of magic and gnosis. They'd be thrown out of the knighthood if they were found to have a gnosis mark of Rhysol though. Yes, they can have mages working for them that are not knights, but think of the knights as a whole organization that has anything from a kennelmasters to a secretary to a grandmaster war vet

okay so how does one go to work for the Knights? or r the knights the only sorce of protection the city has?

The knights built the city itself and own everything in it. Pretty much everyone in the city that owns a business or has a job in a business works for the knights in even a round-about way. You go talk to the Grandmaster if you want a job. If you want to actively work for them in a magical way they might ask you to become a knight (its a lot of fun btw you get quests and mod attention). The Grandmaster can be found in Stormhold Keep on the third tier.
