Taloba, home to the Myrians, is the thriving core of Falyndar. Inhabited by a fierce and savage tribe where blood sacrifices are normal and a way of life, they are untamed and proud of it. Warlike, and with their numbers growing, the Myrians are set on reclaiming what is rightfully theirs. [Lore]

Time Stamp: 11th of Fall, 511 A.V.

With a loud grunt Sylo jumped and hooked her arms up on a low branch of a tree, her feet scrapping at the rough bark as she pulled her body upwards. It had to be the most ungraceful, undignified scene but the young Myrian was relentless. After a few moments of struggling she hung there uncomfortably before trying to push herself up again. As she stationed her feet on the trunk she paused once more, then kicked off and propelled herself on and over the wide branch and back onto the jungle floor. Sylo swore harshly in her native tongue as pain shot up her funny bone and numbed her limb causing a false laugh to escape her lips.

Groaning as she held her elbow Sylo sat up. The fall was short so she wasn’t badly injured but there would defiantly be angry bruises and welts visible in a bell or so. Her eyes narrowed as she looked back at the branch and thrusting her fists on the ground in a burst of anger she sprung up and studied the tree. It took the girl less than a chime to see that there was an even lower branch than the one she had previously tried to climb. Hoisting herself up she managed to straddle it….backwards.

The young Myrian had the mouth of a sailor, that was for sure and the next problem she faced was, “what now?” She had gotten on the first branch but wondered how she should progress from there. If she went any further up she could get hurt or stuck. But, the advancement would pay off in the end she reasoned. So with hands firmly locked on to the trunk she slowly inched her way out of the straddle position and to her knees, where she was quickly able to stand. She peered around for the next easiest branch she could climb onto and when she had located it she reached up for a skinny limb to balance herself and stretched her leg to catch the target. Sylo kicked off lightly and pulled her body up on the new branch.

The problem was that the branch she was using for balance and the limb she was sitting on were too far apart. If she let go she faced the very real possibility of falling again. She was a little more than eleven feet off the ground. Slowly she let go and inched her hands back so that she was upright again. With this she let out a little sigh of relief. The process repeated itself until she was several more limbs up and the branches were thinning considerably.

Climbing to the Top (solo)

She still climbed. It was slow and her arms and feet ached from all the slips. The bark scrapped against the smooth skin of the Myrians stomach painfully as she moved herself up another limb of the tree. Pausing to rest Sylo made the vital mistake of looking down at her progress and immediately felt dizzy at the sight. She had gone way too far and had no idea how to get back down besides falling. She was just on the outskirts of the city, a couple of chimes walk away from the gate but no one would be passing her by anytime soon. Anyone wise that was and she would be too prideful to ask for their help anyways.

She sat on the branch for an entire bell, unknowing of what she should do. She was very scared of falling though she would never voice it. At this height a fall could be lethal and if she was wobbly coming up there was no telling how she would be coming down. One slip up was all it took but that was the case when she was coming up and she hadn’t even noticed until now. Her breath became shaky as the sun reached the highest peak of the day. Uttering a prayer to Syna and Myri for guidance she sucked in her breath and turned her body so that she could step down on the limb below her.

Sylo let the breath out when her foot connected solidly. As she began lowering herself a loud crack erupted below her and she felt the limb give away. Scrabbling violently she managed to hang on to the limb. As her grip was slowly slipping she began praying rapidly once more. When she was half way through with her pleading a bird squawked loudly over head and flew past. She stopped and gapped in surprise as a feather fluttered past her.

The branch snapped.
